Never seen slower service. 5 people in line and took about 20 minutes to get helped.

I honestly don't remember the last time I needed a stamp, but I'm just starting a new fundraising…read moreevent and happened to get a donation by check (NOTE: I also don't remember the last time I used a check). While our snack shop at work typically carries stamps, they've been out for a bit and I finally made my way over here. It's pretty convenient as it's adjacent to the Target in Nora. It's simple to park at Target and just wheel on over to this branch. Like most branches, this has a private parking lot for delivery trucks. While I've seldom seen this branch without a line, parking is for the most part plentiful and there are a handful of accessible parking spots with a sidewalk that is level to the ground. This is an older branch for sure, however, per most federal requirements it does meet ADA (though I'd say it's on the low-end of ADA). Doors are not automatic. There's a double-sided entry that takes you into an area with quite a few mailboxes (for rent) along with a self-service kiosk. If you turn right, you get another set of double-doors where you can get customer service (or some version of it) and two more self-serve kiosks. They also sell lots of shipping supplies in here. The self-serve kiosks work pretty well, though one of the three was out of order today. This branch does all the basics - shipping, mailing, passport photos, sales (stamps/shipping/etc.), money orders, etc. As several have noted, customer service here is hit-and-miss. It's occasional quite good. Occasionally not. The lobby is open 24-hours and, as noted, there's a self-serve kiosk in the lobby (though today it was the one not working). Love the self-serve kiosks. Everything else here is a mid-range experience and practically the definition of it. Oddly enough, though, this is still one of my preferred branches and there's no doubt I'd return on those rare occasions when I need traditional mail services.

Usually I am able to use the self serve kiosks but occasionally I have to wait in the line. And the line can be very long, and very slow. One serious issue with this location that the mailboxes in front with the drive thru access are often full. I've seen both mailboxes completely stuffed with mail sticking out of the slot. Once it was raining hard and I could see mail stuffed inside that was getting wet. I don't ever drop my mail in the outside boxes anymore because they definitely don't collect the mail often enough. So I park and go inside to mail my letters.

I do not like this location. Mainly because every time I go in there is an employee saying some…read moretype of unwanted comment. My first experience was my passport appointment for my newborn daughter. I was the first one in while my husband parked the car and was going to bring her in. I show up to a cubicle and the lady doesn't even acknowledge me for a few minutes (I know she saw me because there's no door and she's writing but with her head up) then looks up finally and I say "hi we have a passport appointment" and she says "we?" And I said "yeah we.. my daughter is coming in after my husband parks the car" and she says "it looks like it's only you." Big eye roll. She was not nice during the appointment and spoke minimally. She would give us papers to sign and then get on her phone. You could just totally tell she would rather be anywhere else than with us doing this appointment. Second experience was going in to buy a simple book of stamps. I got a man that I could barely understand but after I told him what I wanted his response was "you're late." And I said "excuse me?" And he said "you're buying stamps too late this year." I think he was referring to if I wanted something to get to where it was going by Christmas, I was "late". I didn't like his comment because it's truly none of his business so I just stared at him and paid. He then said "bye bye." WHAT!! What kind of interaction is that and was that necessary? I get they're busy during the holidays but come on.. Other than my mishaps with (I hope) are just the wrong employees I am getting every time, this location seems alright. It is spacious and you're able to go in 24 hours for drop off which is nice. Just a shame that some of the employees made my experience not so great for a location that is convenient for me.

While I've been spending an awful lot of time recently working on cleaning out my recently passed…read morefather's home, I knew it was supposed to rain today and decided to skip visiting Putnam County in favor handling some legal and logistical issues. This included a visit to the Post Office to complete my father's change of address (Boy, that's a loaded concept when the person has actually passed). While a change of address can typically be handled online or via a simple form, when the person is deceased it actually requires an in-person visit. Since I was on the northwest side of Indy, I opted to visit my old stomping grounds and went to the New Augusta branch at 84th and Moller Road. This is a large branch in an office/industrial park area. I won't quite say it's hidden, however, it's definitely set apart a bit. This branch offers self-service kiosks, PO boxes, gift cards, greeting cards, domestic money orders, inquiry money orders, mailing, pickup, business, and biometric services (by appointment). They do not offer passport services here. As you pull in, you go left if you just want to drop off mail. To the right, is a nice-sized parking lot with a couple accessible spots. There's an appropriate ramp, of course. As this is an older branch, there's no automatic doors. There are actually three doorways to get to the area for help/customer service - two at the main entrance and one separating this area from the self-serve areas. The counter is also not ADA friendly as it's much higher. The good news is that the employee I worked with was pretty awesome. She helped me with the form, got the necessary copies (if you're doing a change of address because of death, you'll typically need at least the death certificate and likely the probate order indicating you're the personal representative for the estate - this is why it has to be done in person). I watched the employees interact with customers and was impressed. They were timely, professional, friendly, and I appreciated that they reminded customers of a price increase coming up. I'm disappointed by the lack of access. It's pretty significant. However, the customer service was good. Overall, I'd say this was a solid mid-range experience. It didn't blow me away. It also wasn't really negative in any way. It was a solid middle-of-the-road experience. I'd easily go back as this branch was definitely quicker than the Nora branch and there was an overall helpful vibe. I got in and out quickly and got everything I needed done - plus, the employee told me exactly what I should expect in terms of timelines.

While away from Chicago Illinois for the weekend for CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental…read moreMarathon, I had no interest in waiting days to ship my postcards once back in Chicago. I was grateful that this US Post Office was near the Indiana Convention Center where the Health & Fitness Expo was held, because it allowed me to ship out my postcards and other mail I had brought with me while in Indianapolis. When I walked in there was only one customer inside, but not in line though. I waited briefly before being acknowledged by the clerk who at the time was speaking to her co-worker. My visit ended up being in-and-out because there were not any other customers. As someone who visits post office locations regularly whether it be for Poshmark or eBay shipments, the clerk was respectful during our brief encounter. I was on my way in minutes after she presented me with stamps for my postcards and took them after. I am terrible at doing the surveys on the receipts pertaining to my visits, but rest assured, I always share a review based on my experiences. I had a good experience and would gladly utilize this location again for any shipments I may have when in town. ~ Good vibes coming your way ~ Thomas G
