Indianapolis Indiana Post Office has lost 2 of my pakages since the beginning of the year, others they sent back to the West Coast where the came from, all of the packages never recieved were marked as "regional weather delay" but never delivered or seen again. Not sure what this issue is with this location, but they have wasted my time and money, and put my customers out, all of which I have to answer for, not them! read more

Here's why this is a pretty darn-great post office: -There is metered parking directly in front (which is often hard to come by in the center of the city). -The staff are fairly friendly and very efficient. -There are enough staff to keep the line moving, I've visited 3x and always during the "lunch hour" and have never had to wait for more than 1 minute. -Its a short walk from my office, and if it weren't for Yelp I wouldn't have known it was a post office, it blends right in to the rest of the buildings along the street. read more

The Meridian Street Post Office is up there with the BMV -the kind of places I'd rather scratch my eyeballs out than go to. So, I'll keep this short and tart to save you the pain. -the lines are long - almost all times of the day - avoid at lunch time -I can't quite put my finger on it but I always seem to feel like a fool by the time I'm done figuring out which package is which and how to seal it and how to properly label and so on and so forth. -The friendliness of the mail staff is hit or miss - I most often get the vibe that these folks loathe their jobs. However, there is one woman who stands out as having patient and quick service. (yes, I said patient and quick in the same sentence) -Lastly, I must note, no matter how much I want to avoid going here - this will continue to be my post office due to it's prime location. I have called once before which the employee was extremely rude and didn't even ask for my name before telling me it wasn't ready. This post office is great mainly because of my current office location (across the park). It makes purchasing stamps and mailing-related items a breeze; and also while dropping off large amounts of mail at one time. Other than that, there's not much else to say. The staff are "a-okay." The last time I was there, the man helping me didn't see too happy, so I asked how he was. He responded with a depressing "okay" and a shoulder shrug. I even attempted to carry a further convo and cheer up his day, but he wasn't having it. Sorta ruined my day, to be honest. My trip to the BMV for new tags was faster. I'm not kidding. Located at the corner of Meridian & Michigan, an ideal spot for a U-shaped drive-thru / drop-off section, there is only inside access to delivering mail here. Then, the sidewalk between the parking lot & the building is dug up and blocked off by their construction so we must risk walking in the street to get to the door. Once inside, I did appreciate the attention to detail in their door placard language. The exit door did not just say "exit," it said, "no entry," just in case us rebels feel like we should be entering the "exit" door. Then, after the wait, when I really want to rebel, they frightened me away from using the entry as the exit with Sartre-ian use of "No Exit." Nooooooooo.... I'm trapped in an elevator with strangers! While waiting, 1 window open, 3 workers stand around. Eventually, after 10 minutes, and my espresso fully quaffed, she readies the window. So, I have a brick of thank you holiday letters to send out. "I'd like these sent first class please." "D'you count 'em?" "Would you like me to?" "How am I supposed to know how many stamps I'm sellin' you?" So the USPS doesn't have one of those nifty first-class, zip thru quick machines? I have to hand count them? Shouldn't you hand count them? Oh, wait, no, you stand around and wonder about your next hair color, I'll count 'em. But don't think this strange moustached man is not going to fill your ear with strange news stories & conversation, I am engaging you while counting. Oh, sweet, then you're just going to have me put all the stamps on, too. I totally could've done this at home! This was just a bizarre experience. It just bothers me when government-paid employees aren't employing their obligation to work. It's just so damn emblematic of waste. There the FedEx Guy and UPS Guys literally sprint to & fro from truck to door, and there you are... fit to be feckless forever. And, here we are, being nickel & dimed on our time & dimes. It just so happened that I had a package I'd been meaning to mail to my friend in England, so I grabbed some bungee cords, strapped the box to my rack, and away we went. Living near the Walker Theatre, I was under the impression I would have to drive to a post office, since the beautiful downtown building marked "U.S. Courthouse and Post Office" is now the "Birch Bayh Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse" and no longer handles mail. I was surprised not only by the fabulous location on Meridian-just off the cultural trail and totally bikeable-but also by the jovial service - it's always a good sign when there's laughter behind the counter. I HATE THE POST OFFICE, but I love this post office. When I think about shipping a package to my parent's house, the best option is always USPS but man, aren't they always a cluster full of crazy customers and generally impatient staff. It reminds me, as someone else put it, of the BMV. The general chaos is something I could happily live without for the rest of my life. That's why I was pleasantly surprised on my visit today. I trekked over to this location on my lunch hour to send some sweet vacation goodies to my mom, and because I wanted the *cute* brown-paper wrapping job to be visible Fedex was out. When I got into the entryway I immediately noticed that this location is much less cluttery than others, and there was hardly anyone in there on a Wednesday at 12:30pm. Steve, who helped me arrange my package, made sure to mark that things were fragile and took care to not cover my sweet hand-written "fragile" sign with one of the 500 stickers needed to mail one package. He even taped it up a bit more so it would be extra secure. I was in and out in about 4 minutes - amazing! Momma will have her goodies in 2 days, so The Man says. We'll see. I'll definitely start visiting this location to ship things in the future! read more

This is my main post office given its close proximity to my place of work. I have used it to send letters, buy stamps, mail packages, and mostly recently, to mail out wedding invitations. I have never had a poor experience with the staff here. Every time I'm greeted with hellos and how are yous- even when they're crazy busy. We had a couple wedding invitations come back to us despite being properly addressed and the staff working were very apologetic and sent them out again right away, paying for the postage for the second send. I know most people hate post offices, but this one and its staff make it much more bearable. I don't dread stopping to the same severe degree as I used to. read more

I have to mail a ton of birthday and Christmas gifts (yes, it's like well into February right now) so to avoid paying half a mortgage at fed-ex, I'll go to the post office. Considering the distance this is a great location. However, the customer service is less than efficient. In fact, you could take a nap, do your taxes, play hopscotch, and beat four levels on candy crush all while waiting in a line of two people. The mail clerks (attendants? Cashiers?) are all very kind and completely unenthusiastic about what you're sending to gran gran. Not that they necessarily have to be jumping for joy, it's just obvious their thusies are gone. Do not expect in and out service, put at least a quarter in the meter if you have to. Please have all your stuff together before you reach the counter. Having your items ready to be mailed seems to help you, the clerk, and the overall flow of things! read more

First, I don't like to go to the post office, because it's the post office. That usually means for whatever reason an email is not sufficient and I need to use a more traditional route. This post office is great. The employees are very helpful and just genuinely nice - even when I come in 3 minutes before they close. Things to know: 1. If you need help with something just ask they will literally walk you through the process. Ms. Cheryl is amazing and is always helpful when I'm in need of assistance. 2. You can park on both sides of the rode on Meridian. If you are quick you might be able to avoid paying for parking. 3. If you pass it by accident there is a parking lot on Michigan Street right behind the post office with free parking. read more

Can't deny this is my post office given the convenience of location and parking. However, I usually feel like a criminal in the lines as the environment is super stressful and not friendly. I have seldom received a smile back from the staff members. I sent a package via standard delivery to my friend in San Antonio, I checked it's tracking number after 10 days to discover the package is heading back to Indianapolis! How weird is that! I dread going to this post office. On the rare occasion I need stamps, I stop at a USPS on the north side, where I can use one of the kiosks. But if I have a package to pick up? Uggggh. Saturday, my mail carrier tried to deliver a package and left a slip for me. First thing Monday morning, I was at the post office to claim it. The desk clerk couldn't find it so she got hte manager. 25 minutes later, I had my box. Sigh. That's par for the course. There used to be a guy who worked there who seemed stoned all the time but he was, oddly, the most efficient worker there. Now it's a surly, uninspired group. Waited 15 minutes in line (with one person in front of me). Only one person working counter. When my turn arrived, the counter person couldn't answer my question. Instead of getting someone who could answer it, she told me to step aside and, she proceeded to help the next person. I had to leave as I was just about out of time on the meter. This post office has had some bad reviews in the past but the current counter staff is very efficient and helpful. I ship packages (on average every 1-2 weeks) and have noticed an improvement in staff. I like this location as an alternative to the larger South St. Office which is less convenient location-wise). I would try to avoid the 12-1 lunch rush that seems to occur here. So glad this office exists for those of us on the north end of downtown. read more

They have the machine now so you can mail packages without going to the counter. I have to go here often to pick up packages....I've never had an issue with customer service.....other than they are pretty slow sometimes. There was a long line and they didn't seem to care. One guy was like "I can't help you, I have to get off the clock." No one has ever been rude though. I would give 0 stars if I could. This place is 1 block away from my apartment yet my last 3 packages were undelivered as addressed & returned to sender, even though they were addressed correctly. Customer service told me to go in to pick up my 3rd undelivered package before it got returned to sender, so I did, but was told they couldn't find it. When I asked why my last 3 packages were undelivered, the woman at the desk would not even entertain the question. She spent 20 min rambling about how it could be a multitude of reasons and that it would make no sense for her to hear out my situation because there was essentially nothing I or she could do about it. Ridiculous. She was rude and cut me off when I was trying to talk (and I did not raise my voice once, was just trying to explain the situation to her). This is just absolutely crazy I still have no idea what to do and my packages are continuing to get returned for no reason. read more

DO NOT TRUST THIS OFFICE! I had an engagement ring come up "missing" after tracking showed it arrived at the office. I was lied to over and over again by multiple people including the branch manager. I was told that my ring was held up in Arizona and that is why it had not arrived. I then stated that I had checked the online tracking and it was never held up in AZ but was shown that it had arrived 4 days prior to their meridian branch. She then told me I was wrong, and said it would be delivered the next day. The next day came and it wasn't delivered so I called the corporate office explaining the interaction I had the previous day, The woman at the corporate office proceeded to tell me that it had indeed arrived at the Meridian branch days earlier and was concerned that I had been lied to BY THE MANAGER no less. She told me to file a claim. In filing a claim she said that someone from the corporate office would call the Meridian manager and within 2 days the Meridian manager would call me and give me an update. Four days went by and no one called me from the Meridian branch so I again called corporate. Corporate said that they had indeed contacted the Meridian branch the same day that I had called them and that they would be placing a return call inquiring as to the status of my ring. Another week went by and the Meridian manager had still not called me regarding the ring so my fiance and I decided to go to the office. When we arrived we were treated rudely by the associates and once we were finally allowed to speak to the manager she denied ever talking to us, had no documentation that a claim had been filed or that we had ever discussed this matter with her. She finally agreed to, "figure out what was going on" and told us she would call us back the next day. Guess what? We never heard from her again. The ring was marked insured and in a small box from a jewelry store. The ring arrived at the Meridian office according to their online tracking and the people I spoke to at the corporate office, yet the manager lied and said it was stuck in AZ, lied and said she never talked to us before, lied and never returned any calls or ever investigated the situation. All signs point to theft. BE CAREFUL. As if this wasn't enough after I ordered my wedding dress I requested it require a signature as I really distrust the employees working there now, they didn't even bother knocking on my door when it arrived and just left a "we missed you" note in my mail box. I was sitting on my couch excited when I saw the mail truck pull up and was anxiously awaiting them to come to my door with my package... then they drove away. How lazy does one have to be to not be able to walk 20 ft to a door to attempt to deliver a package? This office is beyond horrible. read more

Horrible customer service. The usps representative for my apartment complex almost ALWAYS puts the wrong mail in the wrong mailbox. There was an instance where my PIN number was placed in my neighbor's mailbox along with my corporate credit card. Luckily they were nice enough to return it to the respective owner or else that could have been a very bad situation. Another instance was a package that was misplaced. Yes, I said package. You would think she would pay a little more attention to an actual package. I went to my leasing office to see if maybe they had it at the front- they did not. So I contacted customer service. Basically, during my conversation with the guy, he was blaming me the entire time. No apology, nothing. I repetitively said that this happens all the time but I really need my package. Instead he said my package was too big for the main box (it's a screen protector, there is no way that was too big), that it's my fault for only checking my mail once a week and that my mailbox was full (It's only my mailbox, all of my bills are on autopsy and I have NEVER had my mailbox completely full), and a bunch of other excuses. The lady that brings our mail just happened to be in the office while we were on the phone and she also just kept putting the blame on me. No resolution was given.. they just blamed the customer. How unprofessional. At the end of the conversation the man said I could submit a claim for the value, and I asked if it would be too much trouble to just check the other mailboxes by mine since I was 99.999999% sure it had just been misplaced. They said yes and that they'll do that the next day. Called back to follow up, they basically lied to me and said it wasn't there because 3 weeks later the front desk called me and asked me to pick up my package because another resident just found it in their mailbox. Extremely disappointing. I will be reconsidering all purchases that ship using USPS moving forward. read more
