The Meridian Street Post Office is up there with the BMV -the kind of places I'd rather scratch my eyeballs out than go to. So, I'll keep this short and tart to save you the pain. -the lines are long - almost all times of the day - avoid at lunch time -I can't quite put my finger on it but I always seem to feel like a fool by the time I'm done figuring out which package is which and how to seal it and how to properly label and so on and so forth. -The friendliness of the mail staff is hit or miss - I most often get the vibe that these folks loathe their jobs. However, there is one woman who stands out as having patient and quick service. (yes, I said patient and quick in the same sentence) -Lastly, I must note, no matter how much I want to avoid going here - this will continue to be my post office due to it's prime location. I'll be back - scratched eyeballs and all.

This post office is great mainly because of my current office location (across the park). It makes purchasing stamps and mailing-related items a breeze; and also while dropping off large amounts of mail at one time. Other than that, there's not much else to say. The staff are "a-okay." The last time I was there, the man helping me didn't see too happy, so I asked how he was. He responded with a depressing "okay" and a shoulder shrug. I even attempted to carry a further convo and cheer up his day, but he wasn't having it. Sorta ruined my day, to be honest. If the staff there would be a bit more cheerful and excited to be working, it'd make this place great. Tip for the biz: y'all need to update that place. Post Offices don't have to be depressing and old!

My trip to the BMV for new tags was faster. I'm not kidding. Located at the corner of Meridian & Michigan, an ideal spot for a U-shaped drive-thru / drop-off section, there is only inside access to delivering mail here. Then, the sidewalk between the parking lot & the building is dug up and blocked off by their construction so we must risk walking in the street to get to the door. Once inside, I did appreciate the attention to detail in their door placard language. The exit door did not just say "exit," it said, "no entry," just in case us rebels feel like we should be entering the "exit" door. Then, after the wait, when I really want to rebel, they frightened me away from using the entry as the exit with Sartre-ian use of "No Exit." Nooooooooo.... I'm trapped in an elevator with strangers! While waiting, 1 window open, 3 workers stand around. Eventually, after 10 minutes, and my espresso fully quaffed, she readies the window. So, I have a brick of thank you holiday letters to send out. "I'd like these sent first class please." "D'you count 'em?" "Would you like me to?" "How am I supposed to know how many stamps I'm sellin' you?" So the USPS doesn't have one of those nifty first-class, zip thru quick machines? I have to hand count them? Shouldn't you hand count them? Oh, wait, no, you stand around and wonder about your next hair color, I'll count 'em. But don't think this strange moustached man is not going to fill your ear with strange news stories & conversation, I am engaging you while counting. Oh, sweet, then you're just going to have me put all the stamps on, too. I totally could've done this at home! This was just a bizarre experience. It just bothers me when government-paid employees aren't employing their obligation to work. It's just so damn emblematic of waste. There the FedEx Guy and UPS Guys literally sprint to & fro from truck to door, and there you are... fit to be feckless forever. And, here we are, being nickel & dimed on our time & dimes. Not cool.

I moved into my apartment 01/4 and it has been three weeks and my mailbox keys still aren't ready, wish I could've gone to another office.

Not a great post office. Lines are always long. One or two people working slowly behind the counter. Avoid if possible.

So I went to usps and Cheryl not only cheered up my mood, she took care of me and got it done for cheap.

While away from Chicago Illinois for the weekend for CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental…read moreMarathon, I had no interest in waiting days to ship my postcards once back in Chicago. I was grateful that this US Post Office was near the Indiana Convention Center where the Health & Fitness Expo was held, because it allowed me to ship out my postcards and other mail I had brought with me while in Indianapolis. When I walked in there was only one customer inside, but not in line though. I waited briefly before being acknowledged by the clerk who at the time was speaking to her co-worker. My visit ended up being in-and-out because there were not any other customers. As someone who visits post office locations regularly whether it be for Poshmark or eBay shipments, the clerk was respectful during our brief encounter. I was on my way in minutes after she presented me with stamps for my postcards and took them after. I am terrible at doing the surveys on the receipts pertaining to my visits, but rest assured, I always share a review based on my experiences. I had a good experience and would gladly utilize this location again for any shipments I may have when in town. ~ Good vibes coming your way ~ Thomas G

There may have been one around the corner, but it was not in the open for me to see from the entrance. I went into the lobby and got in line. The young woman who assisted me was fast and efficient (Clerk #77 - I didn't catch her name, but that is what was on the bottom of my receipt). I'd watched her with two people ahead of me and she seemed to be very knowledgeable as well. She scanned in my packages, being sure to weigh them for accuracy. She then asked if I needed any stamps or anything to take home. I declined. She printed my receipt and highlighted the tracking info in two places. She did this all with the utmost professionalism and a smile. Kuddos to her!

My package has been sitting at your facility since April 28--it's now May 30--and the tracking hasn't changed. For over a month, the only update says, "Your package is moving through the facility," yet nothing has moved. This level of service is unacceptable and shows a serious lack of accountability. If a facility cannot fulfill its basic responsibilities, it may be time to reassess staffing, training, or even consider alternative management structures.

I was supposed to have a mattress delivered on Monday. Got a message that it couldn't be delivered…read morebecause it wouldn't fit in a receptacle? The message also said a note was left on the door- but there was no note. I had to go online and reschedule delivery for Tuesday. Tuesday came and went no delivery, no update to the status... nothing. I called Wednesday and spoke to a rep who advised the mail carrier was a woman who probably couldn't carry the mattress and they would see if they could get a man to deliver today if someone would be there. That's great and hope they get it delivered... I will update this review if they do get it delivered today. My issue is, why didn't said female Mail carrier coordinate with someone on Monday or the reschedule Tuesday? Shouldn't it be their actual job to make sure the mail, packages ect gets delivered?! Why is it the customer's job to get it figured out?! I'm thankful that i found a phone number to call directly to the Lawrence PO because I tried the 800 number yesterday and was on hold for 40 mins and no one ever came to the phone and the website did nothing for me. I rescheduled on the website like I was instructed by the automated system and you see nothing was resolved or even updated. I had to call myseland get it taken care of... hopefully. Again I will update this review and add a star IF the package is delivered today. *** update *** The patties did get delivered. Thanks Courtney! I raised my review one star only because of you ;)
