    Lobby from inside post office
    Matthew S.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to pick up a package that isn't addressed to you but rather is addressed to your girlfriend. Armed with a USPS notice that it is "available for pick up" and a driver's license (with the same address on the notification from USPS for the product they attempted to deliver), you must go to this specific location and pick up this parcel. If you manage to make it through the disastrous intersection at 87th and Bash (you stop on 87th, everyone else doesn't), you must then turn into the parking lot of the post office. But wait! Not the first turn, as that is only for exiting the post office's parking lot! You have to make a left turn on the second available road, and then another left into the lot itself! Getting inside, you must use the door handle or press a button. As this is a highly sensitive intelligence operation, I opted for the handle, but kept my gloves on so as not to leave finger prints. You then turn left, go through another set of doors, and then wait. And wait.... And wait... Finally, you are called to the front. You hand over the documentation you came armed with. And with all the seriousness of a covert intelligence operation, you sign your name and write your address on the PIN pad. "Is there a problem?" "You need to write the address clearly on the machine" Okay, try again "I still can't read it" "I swear it is the same address as on my ID". I think my fellow intelligence operative has given up on following protocol and just gave me the parcel. I took it without a word, knowing that in our line of work, sometimes rules must be broken. Thank you, and God Bless America.

I've been standing in line for 5 minutes so far. Many workers have walked out, saw the line, and went back into the back.

This post office makes me sad. The workers here truly don't care. They make you wait in line forever while they take their time. I had an awful experience awhile back, but needed some advice on a letter I was trying to mail out that kept getting sent back to me, despite being correctly stamped. So against my better judgement I went here since it's close to home. I waited in line for 10 minutes. There were only three of us waiting and one person working the front desk. She was out in the main lobby area, and another worker kept strolling around behind the desk but didn't offer to help any of us. She walked around pretending to do stuff for awhile. That was pretty frustrating. When the other worker came back and it was finally my turn, she took a permanent black marker and marked all over the wedding invitation I had the question about. It happened so fast I didn't even know how to react. She told me there was nothing she could do, and to just try and mail it again. I was hoping they could run it through the reader themselves, but she told me the downtown post office has to do that. Very disappointing that I not only wasted my time, but that she ruined my invite and now I have to use more stamps. The cost of it really adds up when you're sending out wedding invitations. I just wish they were held to a better standard even though this is a government building.

    Hours of operations.

Slow, slow, slow. Consider another location if you're in a rush or maybe they're all this way.

Paid twice for a mailbox's key, waited for 4 months and yet still haven't got the key! It's a F**k up place.

The carriers are so lazy that they cannot even make sure my mailbox is closed. My mail is often soaked.

Fairly large post office which is usually quite busy with a long line. Workers are experienced and thorough, but not fast.

Eventually, they moved into this two storefront location a bit west on East 82nd Street. They share space with Rumble, a boxing/fitness outfit that recently hosted a Yelp event. This is definitely a much smaller spot. Self-serve options are more limited, though they do exist including the ability to copy. The maximum package weight that can be shipped here is 150 lbs. Despite being much smaller, this location still offers both printing and shipping services. Printing services include self-service copying, scanning, and faxing. They also include shredding, copy/print, free wi-fi hotspot, passport photos/renewals/expediting, direct mail, computer all-access stations, architecture/construction/engineering prints, business cards, flyers, postcards, labels, promo products, custom-branded boxes, padded mailers, and more. Shipping services include getting a shipping label, express drop-off, ground drop-off, being able to hold both express and ground packages for pickup (great for those not able to be home for a package), QR code returns, return shipping, packing, packaging supplies, and international shipping. There are two accessible parking spots directly in front of Rumble with a curb-cut. There's a blue-striped spot between the two spots for wheelchair access (technically NOT ADA since ADA requires blue stripe access for both passenger and driver). Still, it's better than most. There's a single glass entry doorway. It's within visibility of the counter if assistance is needed, though when I entered the sole employee was in the back. I only needed to ship out a lab test on this visit. It was pre-packaged with a shipping label already affixed. The employee took the box, gave me a receipt, explained tracking, and we were done. He was friendly, efficient, and I was out pretty quickly. A customer actually opened the door for me on the way out. I spent many special projects hanging out at the old Kinko's. I've always kind of missed it, but time moves on. This was a solid visit to this new location and I won't hesitate to go back if needed. While it seems easier to just have FedEx drive by the house to pick up a package, I've always found drop-off easier and this worked quite well.

There weren't any issues with any of the boxes - he just had to scan them. Also, not sure why FedEx has a location that doesnt have an automatic door. Its a brand new building - why not put one in??
