So I decided to mail off a letter that I needed to get postmarked on tax day. What was I thinking!? This all went thru my mind as I walked to the door of the post office. Just outside the main service area is a self-mailing area that has P.O. boxes, materials, and a self-mailing kiosk.   That's not different from most post offices but I found this place to be spacious. You won't feel like you are rubbing elbows with someone if you're filling out postage forms. They had ample amount of priority mailing materials including labels, envelopes, and boxes. So it was well stocked.   The main area is much smaller and separated from the larger area with double swinging doors. I can imagine this area would not accommodate a long line. Luckily, we didn't have that problem. There were 2 lines open, 1 person just receiving packages, and 1 person actually assisting those in line. So 4 employees total. I don't know if this is how they normally do business but I hope it is. This was so helpful and made the line move very fast. I think all post offices should operate like this. I will be returning for my mailing needs. read more

I arrived at this post office at 2:10 pm to mail a prepared, small, soft package return to Kohl's. One person in front of me, a growing number behind me, and two employees working with customers at counter. After a couple minutes it was obvious the counter employees had no sense of urgency to be productive and keep the line moving. Then after five minutes a female Asian employee at far end of counter near the entrance doors waved the customer group at the end of the line to come to her for service. And enough said! This is a horrible post office for expecting reasonable customer service. Poor customer service is tolerated and practiced! read more

Let's be real, most post offices aren't going to "WOW" you, however, there's still a basic expectation of what the overall experience should be and what service should look and feel like and this post office ALWAYS just has something crazy going on when I visit regardless of the time or day. Today I visited because I needed to pack and mail two packages and upon entry I hear the window agents loudly stating that they're only accepting cash as payment ... HUH??!!?? Apparently their electronic payment system was down and had been for the last two days. Luckily I had cash on me or else I would've had to drive out of my way to another post office just to ship my packages. Can't wait to see what the next "surprise" will be on my next visit. read more

Nothing can change the fact that this is the post office and staff will be staff. On a good day, might catch a friendly employee. I came on a weekday when it was slow, so zero line. I love hiw advanced they are becoming. They sell greeting cards, they have advanced credit card readers where you can tap your card. They still have the barrier between employees and custoners, so thats great since masks aren't required. This visit was specifically to mail out an Ebay return. It was so seamless and easy, minimal words exchanged. I pulled up the QR code, scanned and ready to go. read more

On a recent trip through Herndon dropped by its Post Office to drop off letters as well as but stamps. Crowded but line was moving fast. Nice Xmas stamps for cards. Nice spacious parking lot. read more

Over five days to deliver a certified letter in the same county . Sadly, not an unusual experience with this office.

I've only been to this location to ship packages, so I can't speak to the other services they offer. Wait times always seem to be long, whether it's 10am on a Wednesday or just before closing. Make sure you allot 10 minutes, just to be safe. They have packages, cards, tape and everything you'd need to ship an item, available for purchase. Customer service is hit or miss. However, whenever Annie helps me, she is always kind, quick, and courteous. read more

I came through the line with a uniform from work and a first class shipping label and wanted to ask how I would go about mailing this, because I genuienly did not know how to do it. instead actually helping me, the teller was more frustrated that I didn't have my package already prepared, I'm sorry I thought that's what I had explained to you is that I don't know how to mail this and if I could get some help... but she followed up with asking me if I had a box at home and that I'm already supposed to come with the package already prepared before I get in line... then she pointed to some brown envelopes behind me and insinuated that I would have to purchase the envelopes, prepare the package and then get back in line. I've come to the post office before to drop off normal things like letters and envelopes that just contain stamps, but this is the first time I genuinely needed help and I did not receive the help I needed, instead she made me feel like an idiot for not knowing/doing it right the first time, was quick to try to get me out of the line, nor did I feel like I was welcomed, if anything I felt like I was a nuisance. I decided not to mail the package here & will instead go to another post office. read more

The post office itself is fine. Staff isn't particularly friendly and the line moves very slowly. But the review is primarily for the crappy design for entrance and exit. You can only enter one place and exit on the other. The entrance isn't that big of a deal, but the exit, drops you on a street that is one way, sort of. You have to see it to understand! But since there is a cement median strip, you cannot cross that in order to get going in the other direction. I almost hate to come to this location for that reason, but its the closest to work, so I deal with it. But I'm sure others have had this problem, as well. So previously I gave this usps a subpar review but after coming here for years and getting to know the workers, I realize that the reason people are so unhappy is because the workers can only do so much with the amount of people coming through their doors. The workers are friendly and helpful and since I usually package my stuff at home/in the office, I never have issues with service there. You're not supposed to go to usps and expect them to package your item. read more

We ended up in Herndon for passport services because this was the earliest appointment available. We arrived about 1/2 hour before our scheduled appointment and lucky for us, the 10:00 appointment did not show so they took us straight back. Service was friendly and exceptionally flexible. Kudos to the lady that helped us with our passport application on Saturday! I still had my expired passport and assumed I would not need my birth certificate and confirmed this on the Department of State website. However, when my paperwork was being reviewed at the USPS, I was told my birth certificate was required and I would need to submit it with my application. Honestly I was floored as we were planning travel overseas at the end of August and appointments are truly hard to come by. I wish I had the name of the woman that helped us because she processed the application and told me she would submit it same day as long as I got my birth certificate back her before she left at noon. I truly appreciate that she did a thorough review and insisted on sending my birth certificate with the application. Much better to experience a slight inconvenience now rather than be told 4-6 weeks down the road there was a problem with the application. I also appreciate the fact that she was flexible enough to allow me to stop back in with my birth certificate and finish submitting the application. I felt we received outstanding support and customer service on this visit. Thank you! read more

Called regarding my business's mail route. I called regarding our mail drop off. We ALWAYS get junk mail, catalogs and flyers in the mail. It was strange as we always get our mail by 10:30 or 11am. It was 1:30pm when I realized that there was no mail. I called to speak with one of the employees regarding this matter. She was extremely rude. Constantly interrupting. Quick and efficient service here for Passports. The rep that assisted us made the process hassle-free! Parking seemed limited, however it wasn't an issue when I parked, fyi it's a one way parking lot if you didn't know. read more

They seem to have what you need, the occasional "Temporarily Out of Service" machine, etc. The staff member I dealt with today was inexplicably rude for no reason, no smile, just a dismissive, condescending shrug when I asked her a question. Ugh, I would rather drive 20 more minutes to Sterling this was horrible. Long line is one thing but for an employee to go through yelling out each persons package in line and taking it that's a different story. Post offices are not Panera Bread. You can't go through line yelling out each persons package or problem just to speed up the line. I just waited in line for 10 minutes for some woman to come up to me and give me 6 reasons why 1/3 of my christmas cards were returned and the only solution is to add more postage. Why did 1/3 go including one to Korea but these few did not? "You need more postage". It makes no sense, she was very rude and waiting in line to be told halfway through to just add more postage is ridiculous. I am never giving you another cent. I will use some other shipping service. read more

This is not even one start rated service, the WORST SERVICE anyone can expect from USPS, Herndon...I sent a package to India with time sensitive documents and they never delivered at all. On top of that, the package returned, TOTALLY DAMAGED, when asked for return, they say, they are not responsible if people in India does not deliver. I don't understand why they charge customer and take responsibility to deliver packages...I would never rely on USPS for ANY international package deliveries...pics attached. read more

I dreaded using this post office. The people at the counter were okay but there was always a long line. The worst part was when we moved. The guy who delivers our mail saw a moving truck in front of our house one day and took it upon himself to stop our mail when I made it clear to him that we weren't leaving the house for two weeks. We had bills that needed paid and started getting calls from those companies wondering why we hadn't paid them. When I contacted the postmaster she defended the mailman who stopped our mail with no apology. When I asked for her bosses phone number she refused to give it to me. When we did finally move I put in a change of address form and after being at our new address for a month we still don't receive our mail from that post office. Who knows what they are doing with it. If you are going to use a post office, there are a few around that area that are much better in terms of service, friendliness and quality. read more

I drive here from Ashburn (The Broadlands) because of one person: the manager a gentleman who appears of Asian descent. He's like a top of the line triage nurse in an emergency room or a conciege in a 5-star hotel--handling multiple customers with the greatest of ease, speed and respect. He's thoughtful, competent, efficient and possesses amazing guest service acumen. s. I should know I work with Ritz Carlton, Disney and Nordstrom. This man makes the place. I won't be coming back to this location or possibly USPS. After I was guaranteed a delivery date (and paid dearly for it)... my package arrived late. When I submitted a complaint with the branch... I was told how the clerk explained the options to me, even though he was never present during my transaction. The fact that I was paid extra combined with the poor customer service is why I'm giving them 1 star. With options on where I send packages... I can easily scratch this location off my list and recommend that you do the same!! read more

My problem is the USPS and system-wide. I ship many items due to the nature of an eBay business. On a daily basis I can generate profits for ebay. USPS and hopefully myself. The part of the business plany that manages to exempt themselves from a loss is the USPS. Ninety-five percent of my International buyers request "Internationational First Class Postage" because if it the most affordable for them and also the most difficult for a seller to track (especially with no help from the USPS. The USPS can not even inform me if this package leaves the country as it only shows getting to the Chicago processing plant or the JFK plant and then tracking stops there so you don't know if it leaves the country or not. , only that it made it to the Chicago or JFK processig plants, then you have to guess if it went further as you can't tell for sure. Calls and/or emails to USPS don't help either, If you get through to them with your Customs Barcode # they advise you that this toll-free number can't help with this Customs Number and instead you need to contact the sender with was number,,,,,wiat, that was me !!!!! great run around by the Post Office. Now not knowing if the mail has even left Chicago or New York makes it very difficult to prove the your mail went to your custmer, but what does the USPS care because if they did they would have a better tracing system. Right now I can't tell if if it is in the US or in a foreign country. Since I can never see it leaving NY or Chicago.so this tool is absolutely no use to me, thanks USPS. Therefore, when my European, Asian or South American buyers state that they never received the item, I have absolutely no proof, or evidence, that that are not telling the truth since our USPS since bac=sically gives me no help and nor do they obviously care I was given Customs Barcode number which never does me any good and only informs me that this toll free number will not provide any information on the my shipment type and that if I want additional information then I will have to contact the seller, BUT WAIT, I AM THE SELLER.and I don't have that info. So now that I have no proof, thanks to the Post Office, I have to reimburse buyers for their purchase, my inventory cost, postage cost to thm and them reimbursement of previous shipping costs. In summery, I am in the red by over $100, the USPS has reveneued ~$44 dollars, and eBay profits their percentage. Most of this cause by USPS not being able to track for sellers. After all isdone, I have would have lost approximately $112, the postal system has revenued $44 in postage fees and eBay has revenued their assign profit amount. What is really the saddest part of this shipping scenario is that I have to pay $22 to get an item from point A (in the U.S) and point b (in Spain) but if I REALLY want my items there by the date that they guarantee I have to pay an even higher rate to to ensure suchmake sure that it gets there on the originl promised rate and if I need that guaranteed,also then I have to also pay additional e In the end, I ship the item that the buyers state they have not received. Th USPS is no where to help me with this problems. I can't get through on phone nor do they reply to phone messages. The USPS has hurt me very much with lost items and untraceables item for which I have had to PAY THE PRICEl. USPS, THANKS SO MUCH FOR GIVING US SUCH A MISERABLE TRACKING SYSTEM WHEREBY i CAN'T EVEN TELL WHAT COUNTRY SOMETHING IS IN. Dave b read more
