We are very stubborn about the quality of items we buy, and furniture to our liking we have trouble finding - case in point we had been using hand-me-downs for our bedroom sets for thirty years because we never discovered anything that we liked in quality, style, and at a reasonable price. As soon as we walked into the first floor of Blue Ridge Furniture we recognized the quality and beauty and artisanship of the dining tables and chairs and desks; these items are meticulously crafted at Blue Ridge's workshop a couple of miles away. Every item is made from beautifully grained hardwoods and stylishly designed to blend traditional and contemporary. We went upstairs and voila, there it was, the bedroom set style we had been looking for those thirty years. We discussed customizing dimensions with Sidney, the owner, who we immediately appreciated as a sincere and honest businessman and a brilliant craftsman. Although not inexpensive, I cannot say that what we purchased was expensive considering the superior quality and design, and we have been more than satisfied. A year or so after our original purchase I ordered a fully custom designed bed table of the same style to fit a narrow space, and Sidney and I corresponded by email on the design. Tom, one of the owners said they can custom build to order. I drew up a description in PowerPoint and emailed it to the store. Tom's business partner Sidney called me back and gave us a very reasonable price considering the quality of the materials and the craftsmanship of the construction. It took about 6 weeks for the furniture (coffee table, TV stand and end tables to be built). The build quality is excellent and we couldn't be happier. About 4 months later we went in with a picture of an antique pie safe that we saw online. Again the Blue Ridge shop took the picture with our preferred dimensions and custom built it exactly as we had requested. They build furniture that will last for generations and were really interested in making sure the customer is happy.

I waited two months to review this company because I needed some time to get over how much my…read moremoving process sucked with them. First of all, Matt was great at scheduling, giving an estimate, and answering questions. But since he didn't have anything to do with the actual moving process...I can't really say it mattered. I moved from a one bedroom in west philly to a center city apartment- pretty simple. The guys showed up late ~ 20 minutes late. I met them in the parking lot of my building because they couldnt figure out how to park their MASSIVE moving truck on their own. I came down and they were smoking cigarettes next to their graffiti covered vehicle. It took them at least another 15 minutes to actually park and come up to my apartment...where they realized they forgot the dolly. So they went back to their truck and couldn't find it...because they forgot it. So now we are about 45 minutes past my start time and they begin moving things... My mom and I actually helped them bring boxes to the elevator to bring down because we were already so far behind schedule. The process would have been so much faster if they had not forgotten a dolly, and I would not have felt like I had to help because I was paying for them to carry one box at a time down my hallway. Matt had told me that the crew would be able to give me a ride to the new apartment, and when I asked them they laughed and said "ummm there isn't much room but if you don't mind smoking then fine" I hate smoking...so I got a cab. When I got to my new apartment they arrived more than 20 minutes after me...smoking again. I had asked Matt if I needed to get them a parking permit for my new street because I knew my location was zoned- he said no it was fine. Then of course the crew got a parking ticket and whined about that while they moved my stuff into the new apartment. They chipped the side of my dining room table and snapped the hanging wire on the back of a large piece of wall art. Nothing else was damaged. The whole day sucked. They were unprofessional and unprepared. I really don't enjoy paying people by the hour to smoke cigarettes. I called Matt towards the end of the process to let him know that I was displeased with the service, especially forgetting the dolly since I knew it added a lot of time to my move and required my mom and I to help. He tried to make things better by knocking a little bit off of my bill. But all in all the whole thing was terrible. I would NEVER use skybox again.

The movers were due to come at 3:00pm on Sunday. They called around 2:30pm to say that they were running late, approximately 15-20 minutes late. They eventually came at 4:00pm because there were tons of traffic. I was okay with it because they were straightforward and honest about it. Once they got here, they started moving the furniture that needed to be packed. My friend had an insane amount of furniture, that includes 2 beds, 3 couches, and 918273 drawers. (Okay not really but it felt like that). They were quick, professional, and efficient the whole time. Since they were working hard, and McDonald's was across the street, I grabbed them food and we took a break after loading all the furniture (I know I know, fast food is bad for you but it was across the street!). Once at the new place, I swear they performed a miracle or something. It was an enclosed staircase onto the second floor and whoever built the opening were not thinking straight because it was so damn small. The couches took forever to come up the stairs, and once it did, it took forever to get through the front door. For the third couch, they literally hoisted up over the railings in the front! I was amazed... and scared! They got everything in, the beds, couches, and 918273 drawers set to where we asked them to. They were very nice, very polite. Definitely did a solid job. I'm SO glad that my friend chose them to be his moving company because they definitely did not charge as much as other companies have quoted. But they still did just as good of a job, if not better, than those other companies would. If I had to move, definitely will call these guys! Shout out to Joe's crew !! Oh, and yes the polite thing to do is to tip your movers, don't forget. They work very hard.

On one such occasion I happened to be in the vehicle with him when we drove past My Mailbox Store. On a whim I told him to stop so that I could see if they'd take my packages. Lo and behold, they do! This is your one-stop-shop for dropping off all your USPS, FedEx, or UPS returns or packages. They also have the resources to pack and ship things on your behalf. It really couldn't have been easier, and the associate was super friendly. This is a very convenient place!

I was sitting in LabCorp and when I was called to show my paperwork they wouldn't look at it because it was on my phone. She promptly suggested I go here (2 store fronts down) because copies would be 10 cents. I did and this has made all the difference. Need to mail ANYTHING out? Need copies or something printed out quickly? I highly recommend going here!

Some of the other moving companies I contacted never returned my voicemail. We got my move scheduled a few weeks before it was to happen. This was very easy with me discussing the details with Pam as well as texting her photos of the rooms and larger items. There were some blips in the delivery of the Pod and I am so grateful that Pam was able to reschedule with such short notice. Our move was a bit more complex. Double D's had to meet us at a location in Camp Hill to pick up a truck full of furniture. This was brought to our Harrisburg home. And then this as well as everything in our house was loaded into a 16 foot pod. Part of the reason I picked double D's was because of their glowing reviews and their ability to load a POD very tight. They exceeded expectations and used every bit of the pod from floor to ceiling. (A 16 foot POD is for a house up to 1400 ft.². This of course doesn't include your basement, attic, and garage.) They did an amazing job! We had a few items that did not fit and we expected this because a 16" pod is not as big as you expect it to be. (No big deal because we will drive them at another date to our new location.) They then drove these items back to the Camp Hill address where we could store them. The price was very fair. I can't say enough good things about this group.
