We all find ourselves at the post office at some point for reasons XYZ. Some days go smoothly, others are busier, but eventually the lines clear, we get our turn, and the visit is over. This branch, conveniently situated in downtown Gig Harbor, offers plenty of parking space. The staff are doing their best, working diligently throughout the day. With over 20 years of experience in retail and office settings, I understand the challenges they face--until you've walked in their shoes, it's hard to judge. My package has been sitting at this usps for multiple days with no updates on the tracking. As well as my package not moving i have tried to call this location multiple times with no answer! Mailed 2 VIP letters Nov 3 at 7:15pm at the inside mail box at the main Post Office Gig Harbor. One to Tacoma & one to Whidbey Is. Neither got to their destination and caused me all kinds of problems. Like others... I try and use other options for packages. Dropped off a package with pre-shipment label that magically disappeared and never scanned. Not only am I out the product but the money that I sold them for because I had to refund the person who purchased the pants. This isn't the first time I had shipping issues with this Office. I absolutely love this post office primarily because of the wonderful people who work the front counters. Dan, Joe and Karla are always so professional, very knowledgeable, and so gracious. I get it. It's a small community, and they usually have about two people working the counter, but the line is way out the door usually sometimes they have a third person, but the people that work there have personalities of a baked potato, unfortunately. It's not that they're mean they just look like they hate life. No one ever smiles, or makes u feel welcome. However, The African-American lady that usually works on the far right is very sweet, if you're lucky to get her, it's nice. The only thing is, she talks forever to each customer so if you're in that long line, you just want to bite ur tongue. Been a customer of THIS post office since 1976. I know all of the employees by name and have always been my cheerful grateful self when utilizing their services. Just because the stars aligned, I, a trauma nurse, helped save 2 different elderly people who were critically injured over the years trying to manage the faulty doors there! A few days ago I rushed in at 1720 to mail a small package. I walked in, not a single other customer, Natalia, standing with one arm on her hip and the other on the desk snarling at me; zero greeting. Dan, as I am rushing to write the address on the package, yells out, "If the truck gets here we've gotta go!" It is 5 minutes before closing. My transaction was completed at 1727. I know postal work is different than trauma work, and don't even come at me about which might be more stressful. However, they are human, I am human, and who treats someone this way?! I will never go back. Both went out of their way to be cruel, and I do not do cruel. read more

honestly, the main manager is rude. The postman is incompetent and doesn't know how to deliver packages. The general manager informed me that USPS cannot guarantee packages to be delivered. Literally saying they cannot guarantee that they do their jobs. I had a package attempted to be delivered and then two minutes later was returned to sender. read more

Unpopular opinion, but, I had a great experience here. Mind you, this is also about two weeks before Christmas AND during a pandemic. First of all, there is always going to be a line at any given USPS location. That is just a fact of life. The line today looked treacherous, but because everybody was spaced out 6 feet apart it seemed worse than it actually was. There was a very kind and helpful employee in the entry vestibule (I don't know what you call this.. it isn't the lobby I don't think, but where all the PO boxes are) helping line people up for pick ups at one window, directing people that couldn't be helped by the machine to another line into the lobby and helping people use the machine to ship packages and get stamps. And she was friendly and kind, which is amazing to me because I'm sure she hears a lot of complaining. She is a rockstar. They were only letting 4 people at a time into the lobby but there were 3 people working the counter so it went quickly. Honestly, I don't think I spent more than 10 minutes in line. The gentleman that helped me was kind and friendly, as well, and although they had run out of international stamps, he found me a book of $1 stamps so I could make up the denomination I needed without having to use a ton of stamps. They have a large parking lot so I had no trouble parking. This isn't my local post office as I don't live in Gig Harbor, but this was the closest one to another errand I had to run in the area. read more

Used to love it when "Mike" was my postie. He has now retired... sad. Now, my packages are left outside a small gate that closes off the stairs to the street area. It would take no energy to place the packages on other side of gate. Now my packages are exposed to weather and whoever feels like taking them. They are constantly losing packages. They go to my back door, while i am home and leave a pink slip, instead of going to the freakin front door and delivering my package. Now the package is missing. This has happened a handful of times, where they didn't deliver the package. It is driving me insane. You can't get through to anyone on the phone either. I hate you postal service. I still frequently write notes and send packages by U S mail. My regular mail carrier has provided very excellent delivery service. I sometimes have to wait in what seems like a long line when I go to the local post office but the clerks are always very helpful, knowledgeable, efficient and quick. I don't like that the price of mail is going up, but I don't want postal services to ever shut down. read more

The mail people deliver packages based on if they feel like getting out of their truck, we could be outside in the yard and they drive by and wave and have our package but give us a pink slip that they couldn't deliver it.... Worst management possible at the office as well. read more

If you live in Gig Harbor, don't use USPS for package delivery. They frequently fail to deliver. If you fill out an online form for lost mail, they are obligated to reply to you. They've told me that they know exactly where my packages went, but they make no effort to retrieve them. Fill out enough of those forms and they'll say they can't deliver any more because of animal interference. The only animals I have are the type that collect nuts and live in trees. Lost mail, package tracking that they cannot even validate, a sudden inability to deliver packages (not at all heavy), forcing daily trips to stand in long lines, with "referred to a Supervisor" when not able to work with the tracking number provided on the slip, by the carrier. (During Covid, adding to ridiculousness.) On top of that, rude, unprofessional staff, in particular the "Supervisory" staff. Lived in 5-States, including CA: Gig is the absolute worst, so wish I could avoid, completely! read more

The most incompetent staff, delivery and pickup personnel in the system. The Gig Harbor postal service needs a complete overhaul. A self examination is needed as well as a Union review would help. After repeated miss-delivery of mail we tried to return mail in our delivery box. They refused to pick up the mis- delivered mail. After repeated requests we personally tried to deliver the envelop to a postal delivery person. The mail was refused. In frustration, we placed the envelope on the dashboard and asked that the mail be delivered correctly. The postal person said the would not and drive off. Since that time USPS will not deliver mail to our home. They have suspended deliveries and have requested we divert our mail to a PO Box pending an investigation. Intimidating tactics only describe how Patric the leadership and staff are in this branch. No wonder they are going broke! One more thing, if they have a phone at this branch, it may help if they could answer it! read more

This is, without question, the most incompetent and rude Post office I've experienced. I am a small business owner and rely on shipping services for everything from raw materials, to client payments, to delivery of my final product. The Gig Harbor post office has lost my materials, they've lost my money, they've lost my product and have ultimately cost me thousands in lost time and materials in just the 12 years I've had to use this office. This time, however, the Gig Harbor Post office just cost me $12,000.00 due to their ignorance and utter incompetence. I have been in business for 40 years...I build high-end guitars for professional musician's around the world. On June 5th, I went to the Gig Harbor post office to ship a $12k custom one-off instrument to a client in Switzerland. The postal worker at the Gig Harbor post office typed 'Swaziland' into the system instead of Switzerland. In spite of all my shipping/customs paperwork and labeling stating otherwise, the guitar was shipped to Swaziland, South Africa where it was swiftly lost. Thanks Gig Harbor. Bad enough? Nope. Sue, the manager at Gig Harbor left me a message requesting I call her back...so I did. Apparently she forgot she asked me to call her because when she answered, she impatiently snaps, "I've sent an email to Johannisberg, what else do you expect me to do?" I was completely startled by her sudden anger...and as i started to respond, Sue went into a rage and began yelling at me...the customer whose guitar she lost! Wow! Totally bizarre, unprofessional and emotionally unhinged behavior toward a client seeking help. I remained calm and pointed out that there had been USPS tracking updates, so I asked if the USPS still had control over the guitar. Sue snapped again, "Wrong!" with no further explanation. I told her I would now need to either spend a couple months rebuilding the guitar Gig Harbor lost in Africa, or get sued by my client for the value he paid. Sue then actually laughed at me and said, "Sued? For a parcel? Haha!" Not sued for a parcel, Sue...sued for the value of the guitar you lost. Clearly for Sue, the manager at Gig Harbor Post Office, the products we small businesses create to pay our bills and feed our families are nothing more than laughable "parcels" to her...and she actually gets paid to manage them. Scary. The Gig Harbor Post Office has consistently had the worst customer service ratings in the state for good reason. Let's put the Gig Harbor Post Office out of everyone's misery and shut it down. I will be filing a case against the Gig Harbor Post Office with the Postal Regulatory Commission and Consumer Affairs US Postal Service and would like to hear from others who have similar experiences with this office. read more

Okay this is a weird three part reveiw... 1st there is Amazon, who "guaranteed two day shipping" but then gave the package to USPS who promptly set the package aside, even though the tag said "if no response please leave package at door." but they did not. I was told by USPS that Amazon's "guarantee is not our guarantee and we have 10 days to get your 2-day package to you." Seriously? Amazon basically said "oops we are so sorry" Then USPS held the package for 4 days until I finally found the local phone number and called to ask where my package was! A very nice man by the name of Joe in the Gig Harbor Post Office actually brought me my package on his lunch hour! Unbelievable that this man would do such an amazing and kind thing! So kudos to Joe and shame on Amazon! read more

Upon checking again, package is still "in transit". how can this be---you received it, checked it in, and it's still sitting there. Worst PO ever. read more

Didn't receive a package which tracked to The Gig Harbor post office. Upon contacting staff regarding the issue, I presented them with a tracking number and the status of the package. Either by incompetence, indifference or both, they provided no help or insight regarding the status or whereabouts of the package. Staff insisted the package was not at their location, and were unable to articulate their claims with reasoning, facts or circumstances. read more

So, Jeff Bezos recently told his staff that Amazon would fail some day. Well, since they started contracting with USPS, Amazon will certainly succeed at failing sooner than later. I recently placed an order for two items, via Prime two day delivery. They should have arrived November 15. When I tracked it, the explanation was "We're sorry your package is late. Please contact Amazon for the next steps." So, OK. Here we go. By clicking on "See details," I see that "Package transferred to USPS for final delivery." So, I go back to the original message from Amazon and, under the header of "Helpful Information," I click on "Contact the carrier." When I contacted the carrier, USPS, I am instructed to enter the 20-digit tracking number, by either voice or key pad. When I tried voice it cut me off twice before I could enter it. So I tried keypad. Same obstacle. To shorten an unending story, by clicking on the tracking number I get, first, "Returned to sender. Unknown person or address." (I have been receiving mail and several Amazon packages during the past week.) And the last message is, "Out for delivery." So, I have nowhere to go to cancel the order or get what I ordered. I'm starting to suspect that Amazon and the USPS are such lousy employers that they are being sabotaged from within. Who needs enemies from afar? I am done with Amazon. read more

Getting worse by day. USPS used to be fast and inexpensive--now they misdeliver nearly 50% of the time. The Gig Harbor carriers have gotten so careless (or just plain bad) that we cross our fingers hoping to receive our packages. When tracking shows "Delivered", we are skeptical. SERIOUSLY. Why? Because nearly half of the packages we order that track as delivered are nowhere to be found on our doorstep. And no, they are not stolen--one of us always plans to be here so that we don't lose our packages to theft. However, the post office seems to do that for us. I give them 2 stars, for the approximated 20% of the time that items are delivered correctly and free of damage. If you live in Gig Harbor, but able to have your items delivered to your work or somewhere else safe, I would suggest you do it! read more

I know there are people that can have a less than optimal experience with any business from time to time. However, I have never had a bad experience with our local Gig Harbor Post Office. Lines are reasonable, wait times understandable (based on season and time of day), and each representative has been professional and pleasant. I called the phone number listed on their web page and the answering machine says it is after hours and they are closed. Their web page says the hours are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and they are open now. It is 2:35 pm right now. the recording says you can not leave a message because their voice mail is full. The delivery service in our neighborhood, 154th ST, off Peacock Hill, north of 144th, is poor of late, with our packages being delivered to the wrong address regularly now. Worst post office I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. I am disabled and have multiple chronic illnesses. I have difficulty going to my mailbox, which is quite a ways from my actual house. I have had conversations over the years with the Gig Harbor post office about this. Last week, after Amazon sent me a couple of deliveries via the USPS, and, I suppose a lot of seasonal junk mail, the post office took all my mail out of my box. Despite multiple phone calls to national USPS customer service where they assure me it will be returned, the GH post office refuses to return my mail. They are insisting I come into the post office which is not an option for me. Had a voice message today from Amina, who, despite the messages to them from the USPS customer service, told me they were not going to deliver my mail unless I come pick it up (again, not an option). My doctor is sending them a letter, but it is ridiculous how rude they are. What are they going to do, just never deliver my mail? They are punishing me for having health issues by not delivering my mail even after multiple calls and messages to them from the national customer service. Meanwhile, other sensitive mail and packages are being held hostage by them. read more
