Taking a trip to the post office turned into a bit of ohs and ahs! WOW is this really where the post office is!! Well you get a bit more than you bargain for a trip to the post office. Next time you need to just go to the Post office, take a friend or out of town visitor here. It is definitely tourist friendly. The elevator was photo worthy but due to a time restraint I could not go picture crazy. The coffee shop was worthy to visit and grab a donut or cup of coffee but poor barista was doing a couple of jobs at one time. He was struggling to help 3 customers and my watch was ticking so maybe next time our family will come have a coffee and donuts. The post office had the beautiful historic touch and my son adds it even have a smell of history. I understood well and it was not that bad smell but it had that historical groove and you felt good vibes here. It was kind of like a Mr Roger's neighborhood flavor and modern mixed in one. I enjoyed my visit and I will definitely be back. This trip to the post office brought a new experience and excitement about Tacoma! The hospitality at the actual post office was the highlight moment. Genuine old fashioned customer service and genuine smiles. The smiles was all contagious among strangers too. It is so many hidden gems of history in this place. Please Yelpers if you come , you will get camera crazy. I started to but my husband was restless for his other errands. Do not go to this post office for your passport appointment. I needed to get my son a new passport so made an appointment as instructed. They cancelled THAT morning giving two hours notice and left us having to get an appointment elsewhere when the only others available were weeks out. Totally unreliable operation here. Lost wages due to having to leave work and took my son out of school. Cancellation via email offering no real reason. I had even called them two days before to ensure all would be well. Last month, I had a passport appt. here which was canceled. The phone message told me to make a new appt. I did, which was today. I arrived, paid for my parking spot and entered the building to walk up to the window and tell the woman working I was there for my confirmed passport appt. "Oh, she retired.........you should have gotten an email about it. (I did not, nor a text). You'll have to go back to the drawing board." I'm not blaming the worker relaying the message but WHY would the first message canceling the appt. tell me to make another?? Total waste of time! read more

Right of on A street, this post office is very old structured. You can't tell from outside that it's a postal service, but once you pass the revolving doors you come to a large open hall that has the postal workers and mail packing services. Parking is very cheap. I paid for $.50 for 30mins of parking right along the road either angle parking or parallel. Also it has a cool little coffee shop right inside so you can get some coffee while checking your mail box! read more

When you think of going to the post office, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Lines, poor customer service, or outdated? This location is quite the opposite. I've been there at least 6 times in the past 2 months, and had good service. Lines were not as long. I'm not sure if it's due to this pandemic we're having, or if it's normally like this. A gal name Lisa helped me and I want to acknowledge her friendliness, her knowledge, and her patience. I had so many things to send out that day and she was ever so pleasant. The facility is large and very clean! Street parking is available, along with a garage if needed. I'd rather come to this location than any other one because of the service. read more

Made an appointment to apply for a passport for my child two weeks in advance because of how far they were booked out. Took the day off work and picked up my child early from school specifically for the appointment. They emailed me hours before the appointment with an email... not even from a US postal email but an email from a personal email that stated my appointment has been canceled with no way to reschedule an appointment sooner than two weeks out Very Unprofessional! read more

1-18-20: Have a PO box in the lobby and usually go there before work. So this morning 20min when they are suppose to open, it wasnt. Now because someone who decided to not wake up on time and do there job; I cant get my mail. And the funny thing is I pay for this. This has happen on more than 1 occasion. Just got done with getting my passport application processed. Had an appt at 10a, found last minute parking on the street and there was no one in line this morning. I had everything prepared so the process was easy on both parties. They did take my original birth certificate and since I didn't have a need for it any time soon, they lady said I would get it back sometime in November. It was a horrible experience. I was 10 minutes late, because it was not clear where to go for my passport. After I finally had someone help me, they told me I was too late. No one was there, they said it's a tight schedule. I left frustrated and so mad that I cried. The lack of empathy and assistance left me appalled. read more

Do not go here for a passport appointment. We booked an appointment a month out for 2 kids under 4. Given our difficult schedules, this was an appointment that was hard to coordinate. Then, less than 24 hours before our appointment, our appointment was cancelled due to "training purposes." There was no effort to rectify this inconvenient situation other than "please accept our sincere apologies." Of course, I look at the calendar for more appointment dates and it is at least another month out. I am at a loss for words at how unprofessional they were. read more

I rarely use this Post Office, when I do I find the service quite excellent and I highly recommend it.

Oh my goodness. What is going on with the Post Offices in Tacoma. I have gone to this location and the one on South Pine. All of the people that work at these branches are super friendly and pleasant to deal with. This is not the norm at all other post office locations across the country. There never really seems to be any lines. Everything is just easy going. read more

Awful. Have a package that says it have been delivered but it's no where to be found. Called them and they said they would talk to the driver but I still haven't heard back. Isn't the first time I have had issues with simple delivery of packages. They refuse to answer the phone past 4pm even though they close at 5. read more

First time at this post office! Granted I came end of day on a Tuesday - right before closing, so it was not busy but it was super quick service and employees were courteous. Mailing being essential to all of the great reliefs in life, USPS seem to be revolving around keeping it moving these days, this is the best location in the area for experiencing the classic "Postal Office". Nice environment, pretty building, coffee less than a frustrated with the pricing of mailing small things spit away, and well if you don't need to cash a money order early on in the day, perfect. read more
