Despite the low rating here on Yelp, I've always had a great experience coming here. The staff have always been friendly and willing to answer any questions I've had. It's also mostly empty when I arrive. If there is a line it normally moves fast. There's a huge parking lot in front of the building, and if you drive too fast you'll probably miss the entrance. I think this post office is better than the one on Gardena Blvd - That one always has a line, it can be difficult to find parking, and wait times are normally low. read more

I've been to this post office three times now, and unfortunately two out of the three experiences have been unpleasant. The main issue is not the process itself, it is the way customers are spoken to. I understand that employees are not expected to be overly cheerful, but there is a difference between being neutral and being condescending. On my first visit, I picked up an envelope that ended up being out of the price range I needed. When I went to put it back exactly where I found it, the employee told me in a rude tone, "that is not where you found that." It absolutely was, and I had placed it back correctly. It felt unnecessary and dismissive. During that same visit, I was filling out an envelope and asked a simple question about labeling. Instead of being helpful, I was told in a rude tone that I "could have just filled out the back." I am not familiar with USPS processes. I usually go to UPS where they handle labeling, so I was just asking for guidance. Today's visit was similar. There was no greeting, and I was told my package could not be sent as it was and that I needed a different envelope, again in a blunt and unpleasant tone. I made a small mistake on the address and mentioned I would pay for the envelope I had to redo. The response I got was, "why did you fill it out after you already stuffed it," which was not even what happened. Regardless, comments like that feel unnecessary and judgmental. For context, I am nine months pregnant and just trying to get through simple errands. I am not expecting over the top friendliness, but basic kindness and respect go a long way, especially when someone is unfamiliar with the process and simply asking for help. I will likely have to continue using this location, but I really hope there is some improvement in how customers are treated. A more respectful tone would make a big difference. read more

Always a quick and easy trip for me to drop off mail. Sure, staff isn't always the friendliest but do we really expect mail workers to be chatty when there's a never ending line of customers? Most unfriendly US post office I have ever had the misfortune to set foot in. Initially I thought it was because I'm white, but no, the gal behind the counter was just as rude to African American customers too. She made everything complicated, was obviously being rude and just made it a miserable visit for clients and herself. Hard pass on this post office in future. The US Postal Service needs to retrain or restaff this post office for customer service abilities and give it a facelift....oh and a working pen might help too! read more

This is the worst post office I have ever been to and I have been to some bad ones. For example, the Hermosa Beach post office is horrible to due hiring only to tick boxes as opposed to hiring due to work ethic and ability. This post office was out of stamps. Like seriously? A post office out of stamps? Not only that, they were out of stamps for several days. The employees are incompetent and ghetto and the location itself is about as inviting as Ebola. Drive the extra 5 minutes to the one on Marine and Hawthorne. Or stop in to see how poorly a post office can be run. read more

I have no problems with this Post Office. or any of Gardena's other locations. Been using these locations for over 50 years. The people are friendly, helpful and try to help everyone as fast as possible. Of course, when there is a lot of people waiting, it will be slow, especially if you last in line. Some customers require a lot of help and have many questions. Here's a tip...Don't go when they just open, just like the bank, everyone shows up when they open, so expect a long line, especially Mondays and Fridays. read more

I have a business, and the envelope is coming sealed with checks missing. Yesterday, the mail person left the mail outside the door on the ground, unacceptable! I also receive personal mail that has been opened and the check or giftcard is removed. Some mail, opened on the corner and checked for cash! Mail sent and not delivered! Mail sent and not received! This is getting increasingly worse! I sent 2 packages to a friend, both boxes returned, undeliverable! I previously had sent packages through another carrier delivered successfully! I will no longer use the United States Post Office, they have proven themselves to be unreliable on too many occasions. read more

I can imagine why I would have to rate a post office lesson five stars so obviously gave her in there five stars. Post office is are slow and annoying, but if you have to go you have to go. The guy who helped me was actually a huge help, I have a package that was going to the UK and it had been a bit of a pain to ship. I think I was a bit harsh, but I remember they were not nice. Past: Do not go here. If you do you will see how they are really rude. Kim the manager and Tracy who works there do not like their job. They will try to tell you your doing so and so wrong and if you keep going there. They will not like you. It's like they don't care for customers when we are paying to get things ship. Tracy also comment this is why I rather work at the office. If she isn't loving what she does. She should not be doing it. You could do whatever you like in life. small little branch that you might pass if you don't look carefully. It has a small window area so sometimes the line goes out the lobby door but rarely has to go out the front door. The employee's are fine. They are not super nice but don't treat you mean or anything...pretty much neutral. Kinda like: "Just do what you gotta do, see if you want stamps and leave"...kinda vibe. Which is OK. It's not like you want to hang around at a post office anyway. The area is sorta clean. Some things in the lobby are not put away or organized properly. Big glass partition between you and the employee's..that's just a sign that this isn't that good of an area. Hawthorne...go figure... The parking lot is very limited. Like 15-20 spaces and 2 of them are handicaps spaces. The parking lot is in bad shape too. 1 Large pot hole and the rest of the lot is just old and damaged. DONT NOT I REPEAT DO NOT GO HERE!!! Horrible customer service. Just found out my P.O.Box was closed. Claims they called when they didn't. Sent my packages back to the sender. The lady with blonde hair that works here is beyond rude. Told her I wasn't working due to everything and this is what she told me and I quote "you had more than enough time to pay for it" first off you don't know what going on in a persons life. Asked if they where able to hold it til this morning and said no we can't hold mail. When for a fact I know that's a lie because the post office hold people mail all the time. I'm not sure if the heavy set guys/glasses was having a bad day or not but I wanted to drop off a prepaid pkg off & he said I couldn't get a receipt. I would need to pay $1.40 for a receipt. I didn't want a return receipt, I just wanted a receipt showing the package was scanned and dropped off. He refuses to give me one. His energy was off from the moment I walked up. I have been to many post offices, since I stuff online, and this is by far the most rudest one I have been to in LA. My parents live in Gardena, so I decided to go to this one the last couple of times , and the guy at the front office was the only one working there and so rude (both times). I asked for help with the box sizes, he gave attitude and I asked for tape and again attitude. There wasn't even anyone in line and it was not busy, so it's not like he didn't have time. I really didn't like how he spoke to the other customers as well when they asked questions. Finally, another worker came in and I just went to him for help because the first guy (with the glasses) has too much negative energy. As a counselor, I can deal with a lot of ppl, and I kind of just brushed it off and figured that is his personality, but I can imagine for the majority of other customers how dealing with him can ruin their mood/ day and experience going to the post office... read more
