I'm kind of surprised Yelp has a post office in their listings, but why not ... they even have ABC stores. I prefer this location to the post office in RTP because it's usually less crowded. I stopped in during the holiday season to mail a package and purchase a mailer for a poster. There was a socially distanced line but they had all their windows open and the line moved fairly well. There's a station where you are supposed to be able to buy stamps and weigh your package for postage, but apparently it was not working that day, as several customers found out. One of the employees would occasionally pop out and ask everyone in line if they were just there to pick up something, and he tried to help one lady by offering her a cheaper mailing option for her package. The clerk who took care of me was very polite and efficient, and they had masks on and fiberglass separators in place. read more

A post office is a post office right? The plus of this one: it is in a fabulous building! I remember the first time I pulled up to ship of some goodies to friends, I was pleasantly pleased by the beauty of the building. However, the down side of this post office, like most, there is ALWAYS a line--post offices are popular places so I'm sure they can't help it. I usually go after 12pm and there are always 2-3 people in front of me. The other negative--post office staff. This group has some of the grumpiest people I have ever meet. I never thought working at a post office could be that bad, but the people here make me feel that it must be a horrible career choice. And I don't think I'm the only one with this impression--I've watched other people trying to interact, just a smile or a friendly good afternoon to try to bright up some of the staff's faces, but to no avail. I wish there was another post office with friendly people that I could recommend, unfortunately I can't so I will keep going here and just try to brighten up their faces every time. read more

This place is awful. I know the post office is a generally terrible place, but this one might take the cake. They don't even list an actual number to call this place to find your packages it's that bad. The staff always feels like they eagerly waiting for death to take them and for some reason there's always a line. I was a little worried about coming here a) because of the rating and b) because I never know what I'm doing when I ship a package! And a place that has terrible customer service makes the whole experience super stressful. But this USPS was awesome! Ron saw me struggling to decide which box to ship something in and called me over to help me out. He even went and got some spacers for my package so that it wouldn't bounce around while shipping. I went today on a semi-snow day to ship using a Priority Mail package, and there were no other customers in line, so a nice man elderly man helped me out immediately and the service was good. Make sure to bring your own pen and tape if you are using the self-service kiosk. They have some available inside, and it was easy for me to go in and ask for it since there wasn't anyone else, but if there's a line. read more

Really bad customer service. My package was attempted to be delivered just once. So I went to the post office to pick it up. I was the second person in line, but for 40 minutes there was no one there at the counter to help either of us. The other employees just watched the entire. Didn't bother to go grab someone despite us requesting it multiple times. The actual post office line died down by then, but no one was in sight to help us. Finally someone came: said my package isn't even there, she's not sure where my package is at but she will call me when she speaks to the delivery person. No calls in over 24 hours, to which I end up bumping into my delivery person who also had no clue where the package was. Ok. Let me start off by saying in the world of Amazon & 2day free delivery...it's almost nostalgic (& kind of sweet) going to an actual post office and sending someone you love something...when everything is just a couple of clicks away. I miss the feeling of speaking to an actual human being and folks, let me tell ya: I hope when you visit this particular location, you get to interact with Ms. Linda. She is the best! She was so helpful in helping me get my package to Spokane and...get this folks...all with a smile and the friendliest personality. If I could give zero stars I would. Like most everyone below notes, this place is the worst post office you can go to. The staff are cold and neutral at best and more often, rude and unhelpful - as someone else commented, they talk down to you. Speak with a supervisor about issues and they could care less - both my wife and I have had them walk away from us without addressing the issue at hand and after arguing that we were the ones in the wrong. If this were a real business, their complete disregard for customer service would have shut them down years ago. Go somewhere else, or do as I will whenever I can - use another carrier. I'd pay double what they charge just so I don't have to deal with their poisonous attitudes. read more

Horrible service! Mostly due to one male who is always directing people. One time I was carrying an object in that I wasn't aware could be shipped due to size but large enough to carry. This man - aggressively and in a volatile manner came outside and told me I couldn't ship it there. While I was trying to balance it and check my paperwork he continued berating me and harassing me, instead of, oh, I don't know - ma'am can I help you set this down? This man had no social etiquette, was like some uncivilized, unprofessional person who wanted to display what little authority he had. Since I used to live right behind the post office it was the place I used. I generally didn't have problems with the counter people there, they do seem bored and annoyed, but not nasty. This same man has harassed me multiple times that I have been in, I couldn't even use this one any more. One time he asked me what I was shipping and where - out of no where! I think there are other reviews where he selects out young female patrons and aggressively hounds them for some type of response. I told him it was personal and I would like to speak to the counter lady. Well that set him off and he berated me in front of a line of 12 people. Thank goodness most in this area recognized his behavior and sympathized with me. I would give the place 4 stars if it wasn't for this man. I've seen him threaten to kick people out for politely declining his service! I'm surprised he is still employed there! read more

I've been to this post office before and the service was quick and friendly. Today there were more people, but I heard one of the workers saying they were "short staffed". They were rude to the customers and not very friendly with me. I know this is an isolated event, but if you see them being short with more than one person... It's kind of uncomfortable. I didn't even have a hard request... Just shipping something by priority mail. The man in front of me said, "I'm scared now!" Because of how rude and short they were being to their customers. Of course he was joking, but still... A joke is always 50% true. at a post office- the only thing you can judge it by is the service because it's not like their rates differ from other post offices. This is my first and last visit to this location. I had already prepared and paid for my priority mail and when served at the counter, I asked if the labels could be re-taped on to make sure they don't fall off in transit. The employee's immediate response was "we don't do that, you can buy tape." I know for a fact that they do offer free tape for priority mail shipments and asked about this. He then told me to use the priority mail tape at the counter, which was not there. All of the roles were behind the counter and he had to go get it for me. I don't even think you looked at my packages before telling me no. Not a big deal, but with such rudeness for a very simple issue I have no reason to return here again. read more

Easily one of the worst government offices I have ever encountered. After multiple misdeliveries (and/or non deliveries), we have complained, only to receive the most obnoxious responses from the manager and staff. The mail has sometimes not been delivered for days. With one recent purchase the shipper tried USPS twice before giving up after neither shipment was delivered and had to use FEDEX. We have escalated to the main post office in Durham, where the postmaster promised action, but there was no change or follow up (as had been promised). Now we are going to have to go to our local congressman and senator. Neighbors report similar experiences. The "manager" and her entire staff need to be replaced. They are a disgrace to the US Government and it is no wonder that conservatives want to privatize the service. read more

There is no reason for this post office to exist. It's clerks are completely worthless. Every time I go in (not by choice, but because it's the post office that my house is assigned to), there is a long line of people and the staff is incredibly slow. It seems every interaction takes 15 minutes per person. Today I went in to try to find my mail since it hasn't been delivered for three out of the last 4 days. After being sent to one line by the first clerk, his neighboring clerk called me over to try to ask what I needed. I explained my problem. His went in the back and responded that the regular mail carrier was back today, so mail should start flowing again. I don't understand how a mail carried being out just stops the system. How can they not plan for that? Congress should cut off the USPS and let it fail if it can't get its act together in a way that actually earns customer's business. read more

I go to this post office about every other week to ship a package or multiple letters, and it's never a good experience. There is always a a line and the staff are always unpleasant. They are very curt when explaining the different shipping options and act annoyed when customers are confused about postage pricing and policies. Eye contact is poor and I don't think I've ever seen one smile at a customer. There's a tall gentleman who stands at the head of the line directing traffic and making sure customers have the proper forms filled out before they get to the counters. In theory this is a good idea and I have seen it work at other post offices but this gentleman simply seems to bark at various people and ignore others. My mailman is based at this post office and he is so good I can't give them one star, but please USPS, can you get Starbucks or Chik-fil-A to come in and give your retail staff some customer service lessons? read more

One of the female workers has gone out of her way to ridicule me, and does her very best to be loud and rude. I wanted to mail a large envelope, with two day delivery and the option to track. I asked her what was the best option. She suggested using the flat rate priority mail, and that this option would save $2. I asked her if it would still get there in two days, and whether that option was trackable. She looked at me and said loudly "don't you want to save $2? I'm trying to save you money!" I stood in line for 10 minutes only to be told they were completely out of Forever Stamp rolls. This is their core business, selling stamps and postage. No wonder they lost over 5 Billion last year. Opened door. Package on stoop. Not the package I was looking for. Postal worker drove off before I could catch him/her. Later in the day found a "Sorry We Missed You" slip. Waited 1 hour and 13 minutes on hold with national number to find out "sorry" can't do anything about it since your local post office is closed (sure, 45 min into my hold time). Now two days later unable to reach anyone by phone. Online says "rescheduled for delivery" but does not appear to be out for deliver. So over the USPS. read more

I have frequented the post office on Shannon Road for many years and have found the clerks to be friendly; however, there is one person in the waiting area that has ruined the entire experience of mailing packages. If you are so unfortunate as to have to wait in the long lines, you will have to listen to the big and loud mouth of Mr. Cotton who loves to wield his authority around, flirts with some of the ladies, and listen to him laughing at himself as he thinks he is very charming. He will interrogate poor uniformed customers who have come in to check on their mail and he is in fact outright rude and mean to some customers. I use this post office all the time for mailing eBay items. I print my labels at home and then deliver the packages (about 400 per year) to this location. I've never had a problem with mailing items there. The staff has always been very friendly, helpful and courteous. In fact they have gone out of their way to help me get my packages mailed. This is a very busy post office, so I would print labels at home for busy times like Christmas. They do have a package kiosk outside the regular counter area and have lots of shipping supplies. Having been there many times, I've seen people who don't have their packages wrapped properly or at all try to use the facility for that. You really need to do that at home folks. Be aware that the USPS has a click-n-ship web site where you can print your own labels, that's helpful too. Just saying, these folks process a lot of our stuff so they could use all the help we can give them. read more
