On a couple of occasions I've order stuff that , that they claim at first "out for delivery then within a couple hours I get a notice say I have to go to the post office to pick my packages up , I got there and they tell me it's out for delivery. Package delivery is a nightmare. On 6/25, I got 2 packages ordered on 6/17 expected to be delivered on 6/20, scheduled for re-delivery on 6/22. I received an email REMINDER that the package would be re-delivered as scheduled, but no show. I finally got the package on 6/25 because I found someone who would drive to the PO to see what could be done. I am a disabled senior. Between the 22nd and 25th, no status changes or updates sent to me although I paid a fee for them. At the post office on 6/25, they were not out with the driver to be delivered, they were there in the building. So who knows how much longer they would have sat there. This is not an isolated incident. I am a union member for 30 years and try to support my union brothers and sisters, but this lousy service has gone on too long. read more

They handle everything very well and I ship glass. I have been reselling for years and could not do it without our USPS

Lines absolutely form at this location, so be aware. More times than not, though, they do have at least two people at the counter to assist you. The crowning achievement for this location - the kiosk. This machine is almost always operational and can perform a number of quick services with very little effort demanded from you or the machine. Since its installation, the lines have truly gotten shorter and more bearable, so much so, I don't mind coming to this location at least every two days to send out my packages. Make a straight bee-line to the kiosk (it is literally situated in front of the entrance), and make your trip less stress free. read more

When taking a trip to the post office, you never quite know what kind of experience you'll have. Will the representative be short, eccentric, incompetent, efficient, chatty or friendly? You never know until you spin the USPS wheel. I've had my share of USPS experiences over the past few decades and will say this location has been one of the friendliest. The downside is they try to be as efficient as possible but when only two folks are working during holiday season, it's tough on them. I had six complex packages to mail and took me 15 minutes to complete my transaction and to review each item, and as I walked out, the line was 25 people deep. Note: when I arrived there were only 6 people in front of me. USPS, please plan for more staff during this crucial month of December. To my delight, all of my packages are scheduled to be delivered within a weeks time. Super impressive. As for the attendant who rang me up - he was wonderful. His name was Ahmed and he was knowledgeable, polite and prompt in getting all my parcels processed, explaining delivery times and described all of my options available. We even shared a few jokes along the way. Overall, it was a lovely experience that was not only successful but executed with ease. read more

United States Postal Service - Customers waiting for more than 45 minutes. - Post Offices Near Me - Durham, North Carolina

Our street is currently in the middle of a disagreement between the state and county government. Each says the other is responsible for maintaining our road(despite our road sign clearly stating it's a state road). We've been trying to get this situated for over a year now and, as such, our road has not been maintained despite the taxes we pay to both the state and county. In recent years, this area has had a massive increase in rainfall. This has caused the ground under the cul-de-sac on our street to weaken and caused damage to the asphalt. Two weeks ago, at the end of a week straight of rain, a recycling truck fell through the asphalt and got stuck in the mud below. When it was finally free of the hole it had created, it had left a 1.5' deep by 2' wide gash in the street, along with other more minor damage. I have pictures of the damage. Due to the disagreement between the state and county government and not knowing when they will come to a determination about our road, I took it upon myself to spend my day repacking the hole created by the recycling truck for the safety of all involved. I went out and bought tools specifically for this job so that I could get it as flat and safe as possible. I spent hours in the humid heat that day trying to get it to a less hazardous condition. By the end of the day, I was able to somewhat level the damage and pack down surface, but the water level underneath the road left parts of the surface damp and still seemed unsafe. As such, I went out and purchased road warning signs with my own money to keep people from driving over the damaged area, potentially causing more damage to the road and to their vehicles. Our mail carrier stopped delivering our mail despite the fact that he can pull his vehicle up to the mailbox with no issues. After a week of no mail, I reached out to USPS and put in an official inquiry. A local supervisor, Douglas Blackwell, reached out to me the next day and told me he'd head out to review the situation in ten minutes or so. He did not show up for five hours. When he did arrive, he apologized for the delay and explained that he'd been dealing with other more pertinent issues that were popping up(such as a mail carrier passing out from heat exhaustion - a totally acceptable reason, as I told him that afternoon). After reviewing the cul-de-sac and the pictures I have of the damage caused by the recycling truck, Mr. Blackwell agreed to speak with the mail carrier about the situation. He admitted to me that despite the driver being able to pull up to the mailbox with no issue, he would need to put his vehicle in reverse(roughly a foot to two feet of reverse would be required) to be able to swing past the signs and the damaged road, and per the driver's contract, he could not make him reverse his vehicle, nor could he make him step out of his vehicle to put the mail in the mailbox, thus bypassing the entire reverse issue. That being said, Mr. Blackwell mentioned he'd speak to the delivery driver that afternoon(Thursday, June 4th) and try to work something out since it was such an odd situation. He said he couldn't promise anything but that he'd do his best and he'd send me an e-mail in regard to where the situation stood by the end of the weekend(June 7th). I told Mr. Blackwell that I'd be willing to come by the post office to pick up my mail every few days if an agreement couldn't be made between the delivery driver and Mr. Blackwell over this scenario. It is currently Wednesday, June 10th, and I have still not received any communication from Mr. Blackwell. On Friday, June 5th, we received two pieces of mail in our mailbox so I was happy to see that something had come of the situation. Unfortunately, that was the last and only day we received our mail. Today, I drove to the post office to pick up my mail and speak with Mr. Blackwell again. The postal employee who gave me my mail said Mr. Blackwell was not available. In my mail, there was a letter from the USPS stating that the cul-de-sac needed to be repaired because it presented a hazard. The letter goes on to ask that I advise them when the repairs will be made. The letter is signed by what I assume is a postal employee, the signature is illegible, there is no typed or printed name, and no contact information. Not only does that make it impossible to inform this person of any status changes, the letter was not delivered to our home. If I hadn't decided to pick up the mail from the post office myself we would never know that this was the decision the USPS came to. Mr. Blackwell never e-mailed me after our initial conversation nor has he called me. The delivery driver continues to drive past our mailbox(that he can easily access) and continues to deliver mail to everyone else on the street and in the cul-de-sac. UPS, FedEx, and Amazon all have no issues delivering items to my home. The USPS response to this situation is abhorrent. read more

Slow moving staff and they lost one of my packages. Please go to another location. Not helpful at all and rude

When I showed up to the service counter there were no other customers and nothing was being done by any employee. I wanted to get a passport application put in. They said you have to book an appointment online. They didn't mention that there are no appointments available at all for the next 3 months. It seems that they're too busy doing nothing to process forms. The government is so inept that they won't even lift a finger to help you leave. read more

Our passport appointment was cancelled without notification. This happened at this location twice once few years ago, and once again on Friday May 13th. The person said she called everyone and informed a day before. But I all I have is email reminder reminding me of the appointment day before and there was no call or message from USPS. This is terrible experience and there is just lack of accountability at this office. I hope there is some way to complain. read more

Terrible customer service they just hurry to be done with it not give you time to checking 1 more time make sure everything right!

Utter ridiculousness. The lines move at a snails pace. There are two workers who seem to be moving slow on purpose. There is no urgency. And the service is beyond terrible. Every customer including myself that I witnessed enter, left with such frustration. Not sure why this has never been addressed or maybe it's just protocol but it definitely is not a professional atmosphere. read more

Not a bad post office to go to when necessity demands. My biggest complaint would be about picking up packages from this location because they don't have a great system for it. Usually you're told to step out of the main counter line to the side to wait for someone to come and take your slip. But because there is no official line for that purpose, you can't just stand over there as soon as you arrive. So you usually end up waiting through a long and completely unnecessary line to get to the counter, only to be pointed to the side while they call someone up to take your slip. That said, the main line does usually move at a pretty good clip -- and when I visit there always seem to be at least two people running the show at the counter. The best part about this PO though are the stamp and package machines in the lobby. They keep that area open after-hours (though I'm not sure exactly how late), so if you missed the after-work hours, you may still be able to get your shipping accomplished. What else... They handle passports here too. And the parking is ample! read more

Can't say it's any better at other post offices around the way. One person working and 9 people in line. Workers walk past her not offering to help. What in the world! It's definitely not the branch to come to on a lunch break. Great location but they need more man power. read more

This Post Office is a little off the beaten path and sits back off the main road a bit - easy to miss, even if you're looking for it and haven't been there before. Now that I've been a few times, I know where the turn is and so on... but that's enough about the navigational challenges. Service here isn't perfect, but it's friendly enough and very helpful. The lines are long during the holidays, but the line seems to move along well. What impresses me most here, is being able to walk away from the counter knowing the package I'm sending is going to get there, even if I didn't affix the label. read more

We have been trying to figure out why our mail wasn't being delivered. Finally, I called and spoke to Anthony Jr (the manager). He provided details about his next steps and promised to follow up with a resolution. I received a call the next morning with specifics about what he had done and what I needed to do in order to receive my mail. Problem resolved! Truly an awesome experience. read more

Worst attitude, worst customer service ever. Was just here and the employee yelled at several customers to use the shoot to mail stamped packages and refused to take them. We told her the shoot was blocked but she didn't seem to care. 5 minutes later she still hadn't unclogged it. Left many people waiting. I left to mail the package outside (despite the last collection having passed. Clearly hates her job. Also there is nowhere to throw away mailing garbage as the bins are taped over. read more

This is my go to post office since it's close to my job. It's usually pretty busy due to the location but I feel that the employees do their best to keep the lines moving. I rarely see them with a smile on their faces but it could just be the nature of dealing with the public constantly. Otherwise no complaints. read more

This location is one of my favorites. They are one of the only locations that have a self-serve kiosk. The lines can be really long sometimes and the service can be slow. During slow times they have 1 person working the retail counter. During busy times, they have 4 workers. You can also complete other services such as get your passport and open a PO Box here. USPS makes it easy to use as many services as possible online. Check out their website. If not, come to this location in durham off of TW Alexander. There is plenty of parking and you can drop off bulk packages. read more

Service is terrible in this Post Office and for those served by it. My current issue is with whoever delivers my mail and packages. They deliberately do not deliver my packages to my door, and automatically take them to the leasing office, EVEN WHEN I'M AT HOME. Disabled demanding my packages be brought to my home! SO we've lived here two years. NEVER once seen THEM DELIVER packages Monday through Friday. I watch them deliver mail to the boxes pull around to the office and DUMP all the packages there. Now we have a problem our office is closed at 5 PM and Saturday Sunday. I go to this post office every day every other week for work. I usually walk straight in and put my office's mail in the metered slot and then go to our post office box to pick up our mail. The line for the counter isn't too bad and does move fairly quickly, but I think the postal workers there are so-so. Half of them are very friendly while the other half always seem pissed off and I've always got a smile on my face in that line so I don't understand why. For whatever reason, I just like going to the post office! I used to go to the post office at Crabtree Mall for my previous job and the staff there was always chipper, easygoing, and fast-moving. I miss them and wish some of their energy would spill over to the TW Alexander location. When there's a green or orange slip I know to go wait off the side of the line so they can find whatever piece of certified mail or package is waiting for us. Many times, like today, they cannot find the piece that I have come to pick up. I stand and wait 10 to 15 minutes only to be told finally that, "I'm sorry we can't find it. It's either in the wrong spot or sent back." I'm not impressed with this. They need to get a better system down pat because I'm tired of waiting so long only to be told they can't find it. And, as for the sent back response, if they'd put the notice in the box on time instead of 4 or 5 days later maybe the item wouldn't get sent back! On the other hand, I'll say that their machine for self-service is fantastic and often times there is someone floating around to help you if you need some guidance on how to use the machine. Parking is also plentiful and there's a couple of boxes outside for dropping off pieces of mail on your way in and out of the lot as well. read more

I have had some of the best, worst and oddest experiences at this post office. I've discovered hitting it later in the afternoon on weekdays will get you the fastest service. During the "rush" mid-morning you'll be in line (possibly for up to thirty minutes) since they only staff two attendants and one additional person helping with passports [appointments for passports MUST be made ahead of time!] Other than the line being long, the attendants do their job and are pretty emotionless, a tendency I've discovered is fairly consistent with most post offices in the area. But, the location is most convenient when I'm close to RTP, and my fancy mail-carry is stationed here, which is where the odd experience comes in {read on for drama!}. A couple months ago a package was never delivered to my house but confirmed that it was delivered to this post office. After a couple visits (two), I was finally told to return on Saturday morning at 8am because that's when the carriers go out, and I should be able to catch my carrier before she leaves to start delivering mail. I wake up early (on a Saturday morning) and show up at the post office to find it locked up, of COURSE the post office isn't open at 8am on a Saturday! I try the phone number that was given to me and of course it rings and rings and no one ever picks up. I luck out and find a postal worker smoking around the side and she directs me to THE BACK, it was scary. People carrying mail, packages, postal workers, etc. The real works! I walk up to someone, tell them I was told to show up today and talk to my postal worker and they take me into THE BACK ROOM, and actually find my postal worker! Only to have a lady start yelling at me two minutes later and asking why I'm in the back room "it's against policy, I can't be there..." but believe me, I didn't want to me there, they escorted me inside. It was truly terrifying. Of course, not even my postal worker could help me, even though I had a statement confirming that the package had been received at that post office. Well, the ending of the story is that I will never again seek advice from the postmaster, I will only visit this office to mail packages and pick-up stamps. The package was of course returned to the sender over a week later and never delivered to my house, although the address, name, etc. were all correct [how does that happen?!] There's got to be a more efficient postal system in this day and age, right?! read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE! Lost packages, complaints go unnoticed, carriers are not reprimanded for leaving packages undelivered in our subdivision- including boxes of checks and tax return documents- HELLO! I thought I was being clever today because I had what I perceived to be a small enough package that I could stick in one of those ready post envelopes that are sold for 1.20, and then ship it first class parcel for an additional 4 dollars, saving me a grand whopping 80 cents! And...I was wrong, but it did make for an exciting 8 minutes or so. Location: 4 out of 5 Super close to where I work in RTP. From the time I left my office to the time I got back was about 18 minutes, not including walking to and from the parking lots. There's ample free parking at this location, but beware of people pulling in and out all willy nilly without a care in the world. Ambiance/Decor: 2 out of 5 Probably one of the more dreary locations I've been to, which is on par with most governmental buildings, but a little sad for the USPS. My favorite post office was probably the one in the loop in Chicago, followed by the one in downtown Milwaukee. Both had that mysterious "If you get lost in one of these corners and die, it would be epic" type feels. This location just had the "If you get lost in one of these corners and die, roaches and other vermin will eat your eyes out in a non epic sad way" feel. When you walk in, the PO boxes greet you straight on, and a slight left will take you to the self serve kiosk, which is where I would have gone had I just did some homework and realized that in the end, I would have had to do priority mail anyway. Customer Service: 5 out of 5 Top notch service from the resilient self funded employees of Uncle Sam. There was a person whose sole duty was to walk around and make sure that everyone was finding things and getting things done ok, as well as 3 cashiers. Perhaps because I knew what I already wanted and what I wanted to do, I was in and out, lickity split. I went in on a Wednesday at 1pm or so if it matters. Services offered: 5 out of 5 A full service location that offers passport services in addition to domestic and international shipping, as well as money orders. Value: 4 out of 5 Still an excellent value, even though I snubbed up my clever plan to save 80 cents. 6$ in the mailer envelope for a priority mail item that I was returning to arrive in 2 working days. Had I just done the free priority mail padded envelope (the ones you can shove a lot of things into, not the stiff/rigid ones), it would have only been 6 dollars instead of the extra 1.20 that I paid for the envelope. Moral of the story - I ended up paying 1.20 more when trying to save 80 cents. Overall: 4 out of 5 Decidedly pleasant experience with quick service and friendly faces. read more

THE WORST POST OFFICE branch in North Carolina!! I work in an office complex in 27713 ZIP, which is covered by the 27709 branch. EVERY WEEK, I get at least 2 pieces of mail in the gang mailbox that is (1) clearly marked as belonging to another suite, or (2) clearly addressed as belonging to a residential address on a completely different street, or (3) has been delivered 2-4 days after online tracking said had it reached this station. The letter carriers who stuff the gang mailboxes don't wear uniforms, just ordinary street clothes. That is disturbing because they look like someone breaking into the mail unless you notice the mail truck idling nearby. I don't know what kind of pressure they are under, but the carriers are always in a rush, don't deliver any packages to our office, and race off the site.
