After living here a few years, I can confirm that the ladies working here only get more crotchety the older and fatter they become. You can tell from their dead eyed stares and the undisguised contempt in their voices that they wish they were doing anything other than customer service. As far being helpful, they will do the bare minimum they have to and treat it like an inconvenience. If you explicitly ask them to help with something they will stare at you like you ran over their dog and then do the opposite of what you asked just to spite you. They once took a piece of mail that said "do not bend" on it and folded it into quarters before shoving it into the box, despite the fact that it would have fit easily without bending it at all. The only thing they do well here is confirm the stereotype that postal employees are emotionally unstable malcontents that couldn't find work anywhere else.
