This Postal Service consistently makes up delivery options and restrictions that are not asked for by the customer who shipped or the customer receiving the package. Frequently states packages were undeliverable and that they attempted to make a delivery with no such thing took place. Don't know if it's laziness, incompetence, or dishonesty. Can I leave less than a 1? Our delivery driver is absolutely awful. Bank mailboxes... We travel a lot, we do our best to P/U mail daily but it's not always possible. Starting and stopping service for a day or two each week isn't feasible. I think we are at the edge of their delivery area, Magnolia Rd. It's a half hour to their office in the opposite direction of our normal travels. Box too big, a big middle finger to us regardless of being within the .5 mile stated by them for delivery to our door. Parcel back to the office and another wasted trip to find its been lost on occasion. She is just a miserable person and lazy! They will say there's no access to delivery location if they cannot find apartment/house. Substitute drivers or fill ins, on the route to Sutton area, continuously misses deliveries. Not our regular, he's awesome. The fill ins don't even try, twice in one week the service is terrible. Amazon private delivery had access and got my package from them just fine, i watched multiple times, the driver look around and then not even attempt to ask anyone for direction-did not go engage because they are always gone by the time i make it down there. read more

The worst experience I have ever had they've now sent my federal paperwork from the irs, housing aid paperwork from public housing authority ,a cashier's check and multiple debit cards return to sender not at this address, twice now within 3 mo. even after verification through the USPS website, informed delivery registration, lease agreement, and change of address forms... This is absolutely targeted discrimination against anyone being at this address, in order to further the road coalition and county administrator in their pursuit to have a legitimate will from an ex-police officer thrown out and his health care provider accused a wrongful death , to facilitate a probate take over the property. Once again, the most WORTHLESS mail delivery service in the WORLD! These idiots can't even get my mail in my box, but considering that I am located in a business complex up by the Grass Valley Airport, that has several other boxes in the same cluster, they just can't seem to get it together to put it in the right box. This has happened more than 10-times. As far as I am concerned they cannot be trusted as well. This review is for the window clerks at the main post office downtown. They are all GREAT. Polite helpful and they don't get flustered when the line goes out to the door. Not sure everyone knows this, that Amazon shipping and deliveries have totally changed their world. Any monies that the Post Office makes from Amazon is certainly not shared with window clerks and carriers. Did anyone notice that the Post Office has been trying to hire people like forever. Thankless job filled with crazy people and crazy dogs. If everyone hate the post office so much, posting on Yelp won't help. It's not like rating a restaurant. I had shipped an item off eBay to a customer in Grass Valley. It was stated that it could not be delivered. I called and spoke to Kenney. He is the absolute best. He was friendly, helpful and had no attitude just positive vibes. He offered to deliver the package himself to the address, which he did and handed to the woman who apparently had trouble getting to the PO. I have read some negative reviews about this PO. Kenny is the best person I have ever dealt with regarding customer service and going above and beyond. All they need to do is clone Kenney at the Grass Valley PO on Main Street and all will be good. read more

my regular mail carrier continues to place my packages wherever she chooses, without any notification telling me that i have a delivery and where it is. i have found packages behind trees...and packages left in the rain to the point of being soggy with the contents falling out when picked up. she has also left my packages near the road which is approximately 400 yards away and not visible from my front door. she shoved an over-sized package into my small mailbox. when i opened the mailbox the package was torn open. the mail that she put in first was smashed! it took three attempts to pull the package out of the mailbox! she is the only delivery person who will not (follow the signs) and take my packages to my front door! i have gone to the post office and spoken with the supervisor. on my first visit, she filled out a form asking the carrier to not put over-sized mail into the box. on my second visit, when my package was soggy from the rain, the supervisor (pmg) asked me if i wanted to pick up my mail from now on! she defended the carrier instead of addressing the issue! my mail carrier apparently doesn't like her work! she should find another job. read more

I had mailed several flat rate packages to one street address for Christmas. One arrived at the address listed on the box but the other was missing..I checked tracking and it said it was delivered to a P.O. box..Now this was odd since the receiver does not have a P.O. box but only home address (which was on the box). I called the Grass Valley Post Office and they tried to track it but got same thing (went to P.O. box) seems the guns they were using all say P.O. boxes rather than street address. But I was told "I know it's here somewhere but these old guns don't give the location of boxes.".I made several calls to the post office asking them to look around for it as they were sure it was there. I did receive calls back with updates and they even sent someone out to knock on doors to see if delivered to wrong address. In the meantime I continued to track it myself and make calls to other post offices. I tracked on-line again and this time it said it was somehow in Sacramento. I called that post office and found out it was on it's way to Grass Valley. Now when it reached Grass Valley nobody called me to say it was there! (even after I was told it was there somewhere)..It was delivered on Christmas eve day to the receiver..Now today 12/27 Grass Valley calls me with a message to tell me they still can't locate it (even after saying it was there), that they are closing the case on my missing package..Now if it really had been lost forever I was not informed on how to file a claim for it (it was insured) I called back to speak to the person who left the message but was told she was off today, yet she called me from the post office..This situation was very stressful for me and needless if someone had at least tried to track it as I did..yes busy time of year etc. but that's their job. read more

The only option is the 1 - 800 number provided for customer service and it is the worst option in the world 15 minutes saying agent and never got an agent. Hands down the worst USPS Delivery Service. For context, I was in the Marines for over a decade and have lived in many places, so I do have some perspective on different offices. That said, this one is simply the worst. Did you order something for a specific delivery day? Better hope you ordered it for delivery well in advance of when you actually need it. This office likes to mark the "delivery attempted" button whenever they're running behind. That way they don't actually have to attempt the delivery. Sometimes, they even use the "Business was closed" excuse, which is laughable because I am in a residence. We had some gnarly weather recently that shut the power down for a week --- well, the lights have been on for 4 days and not a single delivery. Wasn't there a USPS motto or something once upon a time about rain, snow, sleet etc.... And the mail keeps going? Not in Grass Valley, CA. It's more like, rain, snow, sleet, hail, or if you just don't feel like delivering today, any excuse is a valid one here. I wish the Inspector General of the USPS would look into this location. It's abysmal. Makes me wish UPS would take over mail delivery. In the above referenced "gnarly weather", PG&E wouldn't drive up to restore power, but UPS would still show up!! That's the kind of service you would expect from the USPS, but then again, it is a government provided service, so.... It is what it is. read more

They won't deliver packages that clearly fit in my mailbox because they say they don't have enough staff to service our area???? What? Isn't that your business? Your job? When I complain I will find my mail on the ground - I have a locked box - ripped, dirty the list goes on. I have to drive to the post office, 20+ min one way. to pick up my packages that I have paid for shipping on. I've called, complained, killed them with kindness, talked to the post master many, many times....nothing matters. I try to use UPS or FEDEX whenever possible and am happy to pay for their service. Grass Valley USPS's sense of government entitlement is second only to that of the EDD's. Our delivery person isn't strong enough to deliver a 12 lb bag of catfood and I am therefore expected to spend well over an hour of my time, and to use my gas to drive to the post office to stand in line for who knows how long to pick it up. I wish USPS would explain to me how it's acceptable that although they receive payment to deliver a package to my home, they so casually expect me to instead pick it up. How stupid do they think their customers are to be okay with this? Is there possibly a little self-projection going on here? (lol) Also, I find it infuriating that taxpayers are paying for their phone system/service when no one EVER answers a call. The phone just rings and rings to the point of disconnect. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that all their phone ringers are in the "off" position. It's only because they are taxpayer funded and workers are guaranteed a raise every year (whether they deserve it not) do they get away with such lousy service. Im having to drive around our neighborhood to deliver them to my neighbors. I don't mind meeting our new neighbors but it's Covid times & folks don't want strangers showing up at their door. I swear EVERYTIME I try to get something delivered to my in laws they give me a date of expected delivery and even says out for delivery but then I go all the way out there, waisting my gas and wait all day long for them to turn around and tell me it'll be a couple days. We are new to the area and today I needed to send an express letter. I stood in line and watched as the heavy-set mail clerk treated EVERYONE like they were a MAJOR inconvenience to her. Needless to say, I was treated no differently. It was disgusting and sad to watch. Her supervisor needs to get a grip on her NOW! She absolutely should not be allowed around other humans. The post office here has been petty good.Although there were several times when they delivered our packages to the wrong address. With the severe storms, I understand the roads being blocked and unable to deliver but most of the roads are now clear, there is a good path our mailboxes yet they still haven't delivered, they haven't even drove through and they haven't updated tracking since February 27. Nothing has been delivered so I tried calling and that put me in an endless loop, I did the text thing as their phone recording says to do and I still haven't heard back that way either. Does anyone know if they will deliver mail anytime in the near future? For some their check comes in the mail and that's all some have to live on. I would be so screwed right now if my checks came that way. Many lively hoods are in jeopardy right now and that's not cool. I hope they can get it together soon. I have lived at my address for 22 years & never had a problem with getting my mail, but in the last 2 years packages have been either lost or given to the wrong address over 20 times. By far the worst experience we have ever had with USPS. The following happens constantly; packages delivered to wrong address, wrong packages delivered to our address, items are claimed to have attempted delivery when their was no attempt, items are too heavy for carrier (have a different carrier delivery item them). The list goes on and on and on. In past experiences, (larger cities) our interactions have always been efficient, professional, pleasant and more importantly customer service oriented. The general feeling is that this is a tiny rural town and run as if the Federal rules don't apply, when in fact this is a service. We have NEVER had a more unreliable postal service experience than what we've experienced here in Grass Valley. We've never had to call a post office until we lived here and we've never had to hand deliver incorrectly delivered mail to more people than we've had to while living here in Grass Valley. From magazine subscriptions to bills to the frivolous stuff to several packages being left on a neighbors porch, it never gets any better. We've complained to the post master and even the main corporate postal auditing center and nothing ever changes. Hopefully none of you have to deal with a mail carrier named Lucy because if you do then God for bid you have a dog because she won't go near your house even if it's secured in your house. Instead, she will leave your packages in the rain, claiming they're under an overhang even though the area is soaking wet. She is unprofessional and is not actually doing her basic job, which is to deliver the mail. It's too bad even though my tax dollars go to help pay her salary that I cannot fire her from delivering my mail. I told her I was going to complain because she left a large package of mine, sitting out in an area where it would have gotten soaking wet had I not been home to get it. I believe she has now decided to retaliate by claiming all my packages "undeliverable because of animal interference", because today I received 2 notices that my packages were undeliverable even though the ones from today would have easily fit into my mailbox or the mail locker attached to my mailbox. I have never ever had this problem before-my dog is not in the yard all the time especially when it's pouring down rain. I don't know what else to do besides file a complaint, but I am assuming that the US Postal Service isn't going to do anything about it anyway. read more

Been here 16 years at the same residence. I've received two notices that they've tried to a package to our address but was undeliverable. We've been here CONTINUALLY since the Covid crisis began in February. We also have a dog that barks when anyone comes onto our driveway. No One Has Been Here To Deliver The package. They also emailed a notice that it was being held at our local post office "at customer's request." I've never requested a package be held at the post office if it was undeliverable. Tried Several times to call the post office but, like always, after listening to the recorded stock message that ends with something about holding until the next agent becomes available, it goes to the standard busy signal. I moved a while back and made a change of address with the post office. I can't tell you how many times the very nice woman who bought our house had to call us and tell us we had mail there. When I contacted the post office they almost blew me off and the problem continues to this day. In my new house they won't let me give the gate code to them to open the gate.The manager almost proudly told me "we don't do that." Can you believe somebody would brag about not doing something? And I waited 20 minutes in line the other day while the one person on the counter waited on people. Recently moved to Grass Valley from a more urban area. I've had more issues with this post office than I had in ten years in my previous location. The carriers are nice, but the workers at the office are rude and unhelpful. Several times I've asked for help and simply provided them the same information the carrier told me, and the worker practically called me a liar. Several times I've been told I had to come into the post office to get my packages, which is a big pain in the butt as I don't have a car. On one ocassion, when I did manage to get there the staff at the post office couldn't even find my package. They said they'd call me back, but never did. I went in a few days later and when I explained what happened, the woman I spoke with said "well it's right here, they would have seen it." Again, staff is rude and unhelpful- definitely need some customer service training (or new staff). read more
