06/23/26 - I've been coming to the post office too much lately. This time I need to get my wife's passport renewed. The people working at this location are awesome. Everytime I have been here they are very helpful even when they have been short staffed w/too many people coming in all at once. They have worked effectively & efficiently to try & process the customers waiting. I have never seen them lose their cool & are always polite even under what seems like an overwhelming influx of customers. I'm sure it's not like that all the time but when it has been they've handled it professionally keeping their cool. Thanks to these USPS employees to a great job read more

Last month I was late-charged on my Com Ed bill and this month I now have a late charge for my Peoples Gas bill - all because we have not gotten a regular mailman since the relocated our last one. One more late fee and I know I will be speaking to someone higher. Kathy read more

The office itself is fine. The carriers for the most part are fine. It's one or two relief carriers that didn't get the memo that mail goes INSIDE the mail box. I have gone in to speak with the supervisor with a handful of mail for the entire building just stashed in the magazine slot (or sometimes strewed out on the floor) but that hasn't helped. I've put a sign on my box kindly asking for the carriers to put MY mail inside MY box. But my mail still winds up stashed in the magazine slot for the building along with everyone else's mail. I'm trying to give the carrier who's doing this the benefit of the doubt but it's happening over and over and over again. I clear out my box daily and timely so I'm not understanding why my mail isn't in my empty box? I work for usps so I get important work related mail, in addition to bills and checks that can be compromised if in the wrong hands. What's the point of having a mailbox if you're just going to put the mail wherever you feel on any given day? I finally sealed off the magazine rack and hopefully now our mail will be put inside our boxes. But given the crummy morale of whatever associate is doing this, I won't be surprised to find all of our mail thrown on the floor or just not delivered at all. I do your job, it ain't that hard! IT'S A SHAME the postal carriers are allowed to claim something was delivered when it wasnt all bc they are trying to meet an arbitrary quota...nice job USPS, you are a GOVERMENT ENTITY and should have a higher standard of ethics...tell your employees to stop deceitful statements marking a package as delivered when it wasn't. Do not drop off pre-paid label packages at their drop off desk here. I dropped 3 off on 7/30 and one of the 3 is not tracking at all -- indicating it was either lost or stolen from this post office. I can't get anyone on the phone either to find out what happened to the package. read more

Zero next day delivery slips available for use. I was ready to spend $27 to send a letter within the Chicago but had to settle for spending about $6 via certified mail instead. Up your game USPS Jefferson Park, you are letting us down during the global Covid19 pandemic! read more

they will not generate a shipping label. What? What's the point of the post office then if you can't send a package. She told me I have to go to the public library and get myself a label and then come back to ship it. But she was rude and this is trying to get rid of me. Horrible. The people who works at this location are so helpful and friendly. They do a great job!

What can I say? The old lady with half her hair died blonde in the front desk doesn't want to get up off her @$$ to do anything. They never answer their phone when you call. Extremely rude people at the front desk and I'm beginning to think USPS hires rude, lazy and unhelpful people on purpose. Crazy how this mail service is running. Let's not forget these people actually receive a pension! If you have a package, get it sent to 60634. They are much more helpful. Might be a 8 minute longer drive but trust me you would rather that then deal with people who only show up for a paycheck. read more

The service at this post office is terrible. The man is beyond rude. He's usually by himself so you don't have a choice. He barely moves. He seems to be perpetually bored with his job. Please! The people of Jefferson Park deserve better! It's been decades since we've had good professional service at this facility. To start off the people behind the counter are fine, the place looks fine. But they lose so much mail that is dropped off inside with tracking it is ridiculous. 25% of things I drop off I have too call back and make a claim that this place can't do their job and scan it in. It's not like all the packages from a certain day go missing. You drop off 4, and 1 of them goes missing and the rest are delivered, so I don't know how they keep doing this, they either need to get more people in there or better people, because this place is a failure pile of sadness. By far the worst post office, office, in the city of chicago. Over the past 6 months, i've had a total of 5 first class saturday deliveries (w/ tracking number). Packages all say Saturday delivery by 8 pm. I've now had 5 no shows for delivery. Lazy mfers. I call and no answer. I don't care how busy you are, you deliver customer packages when you say you will, 0/5. I hope you all lose your jobs. read more

I never been to a post office where customer service was given. Always rude people to include this one. I've seen maybe 2 friendly staff here actually. Online says passport by appointment only. Get here on a Friday for a confirmed appointment through text. No appointment needed, only on Saturdays. Have to stand in this long line that handles passports and mail. Leave it to the Government to have such a process. So I wait in line that only has one rep. Luckily one more rep came which made the process faster but she was rude. Getting passports for my me and my son. Had all the paperwork prefilled, copies of what I need, etc. She says i need a copy of my sons birth certificate which the outline of requirements only indicate you need copies of guardian government IDs. I had the physical copy but not a photocopy of it. So you think they can make a copy for me? Of course not. So go across the way luckily to get a copy at the currency exchange. It's funny how so many people work at the post office hate their jobs and it shows. That's the perception at least. read more

This review is for Carol and the overall post office experience with this office. I had been waiting for a package for over a week. I missed a delivery and they were suppose to re deliver. One attempt is all I got. They never attempted to redeliver my package even though I went online and filled out the proper information to redeliver. I called the office number at this location around 8:30am and no one picked up. So then I went into the actual post office and it was empty. I don't understand why no one was picking up the phone when the office was not even busy. Then there was Carol. I walked up to her and was very polite but she was very standoffish and rude to be quite frank. She said my package was with the carrier and I had to wait a few minutes. I asked Carol if the carrier was there and she replied: "carriers don't wait at the post office they're carriers." She was very condescending and passive aggressive. (I was only asking because I had a meeting at my property and I was curious if the carrier was already there, or if they were still in transit. I didn't need a definition of what a carrier was. Lol.) Aside from that I remained calm and asked her if I could just come back in a few minutes because I had to drop off keys for my meeting at my property. She assured me I could. I even told her thank you in a polite way despite her utter rudeness. I come back 15 minutes later and there are 5 people ahead of me. I asked Carol if I could just grab my package and she said no that I had to sign. (I had already showed ID and gave my slip to her, which she kept and ripped up in front of me). As I waited Carol began shouting.... literally SHOUTING at another customer. Saying: "these are the rules and if you don't like it OH well!" The gentlemen wasn't rude at all, he was just asking why he needed to fill out a specific slip. This women should be ashamed of herself. If there was a award for top passive aggressive rude behavior; she would win effortlessly. It's embarrassing that she is an adult conducting herself as a child. To Carol: If you are so miserable at your job, just quit. There are plenty of other people in need of a job that would greatly take yours and act appropriately. Honestly. Who hired this women? I don't really expect a lot from a Post Office. Just help me get postage and get my packages on the way. As far as facilities go, this one is clean and the staff are nice enough, if not understaffed. Every time I go in there there is already a line. I don't understand why they don't have one of those self service kiosks where you can weigh and stamp your own package! It would reduce the lines. Oh and there are signs for getting your passport...but on National Passport Day they had one posted saying you couldn't get your passport there! #Irony read more

It could be that we don't have a regular letter carrier and that we get the new gal/guy or whomever has some time, but the mail delivery in our neighborhood has suffered. When I called to report the service problem, I was on hold for a supervisor for over 10 minutes before calling on my mobile phone and connecting to someone who would speak to me. (Putting on hold forever is possibly their strategy for dealing with complaint calls.) We regularly get mail for neighbors -- and even people not on our street. Carriers are supposed to take our outgoing mail, but that doesn't always happen -- which was the case today. I realize this situation is likely not going to get resolved. It just feels good to vent. read more

The reason I am only giving a 1 star review is that the lady that helped me out was not very friendly at all AND she also threw my package in the cart right in front of me. I am glad if was not an expensive package, but I am also very annoyed she tossed it without a care. The woman working at the Jefferson Park Post Office on 5401 W. Lawrence Ave. between 9:45AM-10:20AM was very rude and condescending. She didn't bother to acknowledge my presence when I was next in line. Instead, she just sat there and stared at me; I was the only one there. I walked up to the counter and the woman yelled at me stating, "Don't you know how to read?" three consecutive times; I got very insulted. She even questioned what package I was delivering. She stated, "I did not know YOU GUYS can send medication to YOUR country." I was very insulted by this and felt heavily discriminated. She then proceeded to make fun of my attire stating, "You don't know how to read and you're wearing pajamas." The woman refused to give me her name because she knew I would file a complaint. John witnessed the encounter and didn't attempt to deescalate the situation. I asked for the manager, but he didn't really seem to want to help me. Please take action as this type of customer service is unacceptable. I am a frequent customer and I don't appreciate being treated so poorly. read more

This place is horrible. 1. The line is to the door. Mind you, this is a long building with a considerable distance between the service counter and the door. 2. There is no public parking and is never any parking available. This is for people on foot but today I'm expecting to pick up a package that is a little heavy so i have my car. read more

RE: The Lawrence Avenue Branch I received notice via tracking that my package is out for delivery, then there's a notice that says the item is being held at the post office at the request of the customer. What??!!! I'm waiting on that package. Why would I want it to be held? I tried 10 times to get through on the phone and not one person picked up. I also sent an email. The local post office there's always a line here. They all look miserable and mad that they have to work im glad i don't have to come here often. They are usually always out of mailing slips at the self serve counter so your stuck waiting in line to get a mailing slip the pens never work kinda like the employees smg read more

It's my neighborhood post office, so I go there to save some gas. Also, because I don't go often to other post offices I can't say if it's worst or better than others. I can only say that I get out of there feeling depressed and humiliated, rude treated and disrespected. I have a lot more to say, why this is something that has to do with employees' level of customer service, their job security...but I am too depressed now. read more

As long as I stay in this area, I'll have to put up with this post office. The workers here are never in a hurry, never smiling, and always flirting with that line between professional and flat out rude. I recognize the fact, and have noticed from standing in line, that some of the customers can be super challenging to work with. Especially if English is not their first language. I've always had something simple to take care of while I am here. The minimum wait time to get service is usually five minutes. By the time I get to the counter, I feel like the clerks eyeball me, waiting to find an opportunity to tell me, "No I can't help you." I can't figure out if they are masochistic or just angry with the world from working there too long. The worst part of visiting here is that there is never any parking. The city made parking meters right in front of the building, no doubt, to keep locals living on that street from parking there. I don't understand why they couldn't have just made a parking lot. It's bad enough that I have to pay .49 cents for a stamp. I gotta pay for parking too? That is, if I don't feel like driving around the neighborhood like it's my own, looking for a place to park for ten minutes. Potentially a waste of gas too. You just can't win. Here's an idea: try moving the darn post office to a lot with space to make free parking! No, that's too simple, isn't it? read more

Horrible, horrible! To be fair, this is a review of the "annex" on Lawrence Avenue. Anytime you come, expect to wait at least 30-45 minutes. There is no stamp or package machine, so everyone needs to wait in line because you can't do things without going through the line. The service is what you'd expect at a Chicago post office (that is, poor). I've found mail dumped out along the route, and when I brought back it to this post office, not only did the teller not care, he refused to get me a supervisor. Add to this, there is only street parking around, so if you actually need to go inside, you're paying an arm and a leg for a meter. read more

I rarely write reviews but feel like I have to seeing that this post office is my neighborhood post office. I was at this location today at 8:45 a.m. I was the only customer in the lobby. I waited until the sale clerk acknowledged me, because I saw she had a pile of certified letters in front of her. I heard her say "please hold on" thinking she was speaking to me. No, it turns out she was speaking to whomever was on the personal cell phone. When she finally did acknowledge me, I inquired about renewing my passports. She proceeded to point to the forms behind me saying "this location doesn't process application. You can go to......" She said the other locations so quickly, I didn't even have time write to write them down. I then started to ask another question. She said "Everything's on the form" grabbed her cell phone and continue her conversation and went to the back of the office! I was told her name is Kelsey! I just want to let you know that there are thousands of other people would be happy to have a job that you have. The least you can do is acknowledge your customers, greet them, be friendly and wait for your breaks or disconnect your call when you see a customer in the lobby. I mean, I'm sorry to bother you at work, I didn't mean to disturb you asking for help while YOUR AT WORK. I was beyond upset and shocked. That I was literally left there talking to myself while she proceeded to go to the back of the room and not address my concerns. So, yes I made a formal complaint and do have my case number referencing this incident. I really hope that they give this location training and social etiquette on how to interact with the neighborhood. read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LAZY STAFF THAT WILL RIP YOU OFF!! I went inside to get my FIRST passport. The woman tried talking me into sending it "next day" for $18, and when I asked her if I were to send the same paperwork in the "flat rate" envelope for $5.20 would it arrive on a later day. She said NO! I was upset, she said it was her job to sell the next day. It wasn't her fault if people aren't aware of their other options. HORRIBLE!!!!!! She put the paper work in the envelope and said that was it. I got a call from the passport people saying that they couldn't accept it because it needed to have post office certify the paperwork and they were supposed to take the money for the passport. I had to take a day off of work, go downtown to pick up the paperwork and take back to the post office downtown to have someone knowledgeable and professional help me do what was supposed to have been done a week prior. I had to pay for express delivery of my passport to ensure I received it before my marathon in Canada. read more

There's a lot of hate for this branch of the US Postal Service. I miss the friendliness at my local post office when I lived in the 'burbs. But this location works just fine. These folks aren't the happiest. Their faces always look like they are tired or worse, don't care. Anytime I've needed to send a package or certified letter, the service has been fine. I've never been treated rudely and every interaction always ended with a "thank you" from them. I just wish they had a postage stamp vending machine. This place always has a line of customers and it moves slow. It would be nice if I could just get in and get out for a small purchase like stamps. Street parking is limited, so its easier to just walk if you're in walking distance. read more

Apparently I go to the alien Jeff. Park post office because my experiences are always way worse than all the other reviewers. The parking here SUCKS. The lines are usually long, and I saw two people nearly get into a fight while in line at this post office. It seems out of date and dirty and as such I usually go to the Portage Park P.O. (On Cicero) because at least they have the automated teller machine and a parking lot. read more

Please be careful with this usps branch. While the people behind the counter may appear friendly, it's their letter carriers you have to watch out for. We have a short Spanish woman as our letter carrier, and she doesn't listen at all. Numerous times I've told her NOT to walk across our front lawn because she'll eventually kill the grass. She doesn't care, she does it anyway. If people on our street don't shovel their walks or front stairs, for some stupid reason she leaves it at our house. It's ALOT of mail. I'm NOT being paid to deliver this stuff, I have to take the time out of my schedule to return it to the post office in Jefferson Park. And they do nothing about it! read more

Just received a letter from Mike Quigley Stae Rep addressing all of the known issues with this local post office delivery. The complaints include residents from Jeff Park, Portage Park, Lakeview, etc. A full comprehensive list of complaints were included. The letter states that they will monitor delivery services and do followup concerning the poor services received by mail carriers. Happy to see this is being addressed, finally! read more

Crappy customer service and the worst post office. On many occasions they don't even deliver my mail or if they do it arrives too late resulting in problems with my bills. I just called the post office and the recording said the wait time was 1 hour, really??? I feel they just don't want to pick up the phone! Heaven forbid that when you are there you have to wait because they need to take their break, doesn't matter if there is a line a mile long and the supervisor does nothing! read more
