I had a nice gentleman I didn't get his name very helpful he was doing something else and stop what he was doing to help me I told him I would put him in a review and didn't want to take his name. This is the worst Post Office on Long Island. I've lived in Central Islip for four months now and I've already had three packages arrive at the Post Office and instead of going out for delivery to my house they go to some other location (it will say moving through Network on the tracking) and end up getting lost of stolen and never delivered. Someone at this location needs to be fired. read more

They have large 24 hour automated postal center signage on the outside of the building! Yay so helpful! Well guess what, THEY DONT. what a huge waste of time. read more

Central Islip Postal Service: You know I'm sitting here at the post office waiting for my wife who went inside to handle some business. And it came to a surprise how many people use the post office in a given day. I've must've seen at least 50 people going in and out with packages letters and all kinds of things, and it's not even the holiday season yet. My post office is relatively small compared to others but yet the employees there work diligently to get the mail out to you. Every day with a smile rain snow sleet or hail I take my hat off to the employees and the fine job that they do. When I first started this review it was a month or two ago but now it is near the holiday season and you should see the people coming and going out of this post office.like I said before my hats off to the employees. read more

First time in 31 years I called the post office to voice a complaint and the supervisor wouldn't give be me the opportunity to finish talking saying he was very busy and to hurry up. Born and raised in Central Islip, 64 yrs not a problem. All of a sudden last month my check for my homeowners insurance was lost in the mail , almost got cancelled. This post office is the one for my town and I hate going there, avoid it at all costs!!! It's terrible that communities like mine, made up of working class and working poor people of diverse backgrounds, so often get the worst treatment even from the public sector. I have experienced it myself at this post office and have witnessed others get treated even worse, especially when their English was limited. Specific recent problem with them: I had an issue with my packages not coming to my address, same address my entire life. I've had to get used to a habit of writing "does not live here, return to sender" on mail of former tennants and room renters we used to have at our home 10+ years ago. We've had to return their mail for over a DECADE, because the post office has yet to fix the issue. That being said, I started getting mail from campaigns and political groups I disagree with from some list they must have obtained, with my name spelled wrong. As far as I'm concerned, if you can't spell my name right you're not addressing me. That name is not my name. So, after trying several times to stop that junk from filling my mailbox, I sent one back to them as "return to sender"....immediately that affected packages I ordered and SOME, not ALL, of mail coming to my home to my name. I spent two weeks trying to work this out with USPS, and all the general national customer service line reps agreed with me this should never have happened to me...but who did make it a point to blame me off the bat??? The manager at the Central Islip post office who had to call me back on it!!! She was immediately defensive and blaming me for the issue so that got me upset. I started explaining how they spent the last decade sending me mail from tennants I've had to write "return to sender" on hundreds upon hundreds of times, but the one time I write it on an envelope that doesn't even have my name spelled right, you turn away packages I ordered??? On two day shipping no less because they were very important?!? Here I am a week and a half later and my package is still being re-routed from the Midwest now. So as I went on about this, she took it personally and hung up on me, over and over again. I kept calling back demanding this lady give me confirmation that she would fix my name in her system and yes I was frustrated, yes it sure showed in my tone of voice, but I had reason to be upset and her hanging up on me over and over sure wasn't helping!!! I was fuming!!! Took me calling USPS general customer service line again to get solid answers, and again I told my story and they again were empathetic and agreed this shouldn't have happened. Thanks CI post office, for screwing up and blaming me instead of taking ownership of the mistake and genuinely looking to help me. Ya are terrible, absolutely terrible!!!!! read more
