This is about the P.O. at Grant Street in Buffalo NY. This morning I arrived there at 8:20 am. They open at 8:30 am. By the time, I gave up it was 8:40am. On the doors it clearly states that their hours are 8:30 -- 5pm M--F. We all have better things to do than wait around for a business to open, don't we? Post office is now run by a rude gang of ignorant Bangladeshi people who are disparaging customers while speaking their native language at the counter. They have a clock on the wall that they don't follow (throw it in the garbage what is the use). I was there earlier than 6:40 PM to ship multiple packages and they had already taken the carts out early before the scheduled time of 6:45 PM and the idiot postal worker Islam would not send my packages out. Besides being wrong, he has a nasty attitude. When I came in he had left his cash register and was hanging in the lobby talking to customers while other customers waited in line for him. He then works at snail pace to scan the packages and delayed shipping them out for a full day telling me I should come early - I was there early, stupid. I have a business and the prepaid packages only have to be scanned in and sent out. I have been going there for the past 20 years - I will give my business to UPS. read more

This post office is great for two reasons - they're open much later than most post offices (until 8ish many nights of the week) and their location (close to the airport but also on my way to work). Only downside is that if you haven't been before, it's not too clearly labeled from the road, it's in a building behind a plaza, so I recommend using a gps if you're not sure. Since they're open late, they don't open until the afternoon. So if you had to drop something off check the hours before you go. They also have a few mailboxes out front that you can drive up to. I've been here many times, including during the holiday season. Even at their busiest times of year the staff is friendly and helpful. Easy parking too. Highly recommend if you need to mail something on the weekends or in the evenings. read more

It's located right at the airport, so you bet your package probably goes straight on a plane (or truck) and zips on out of there! 1 employee working every time I go here and it is the only USPS open after 4 in the area. I went in tonight and there was a line triple wrapping around 20+ people. At one time the positive reviews listed here were warranted with the airport post office being open 24-hours, then until midnight, but the generous hours and the level of professionalism has dwindled greatly making this location a hellhole useful to those people who still want to support the charity that is the US Postal Service, losing several billions of dollars each year. After awful recent experiences at the Post Office, here particularly, I make an effort to go green and use email or online bill pay. Now I will use a package delivery company in the open market that has to actually compete to be efficient and offer an excellent level of service. At one time I thought the pejorative term "postal" to refer to angry individuals on the verge of breaking under stress was inaccurate as the counter staff here was pleasant to a 'T'. Now, its hit or miss. Two of the male counter clerks are surly and have an inability to deal with Post Office patrons. I never saw such a level of anger in a person in a retail position as one of the men here dealing with an undemanding customer before me. They put the P. O. in Post Office, and take the service out of customer service. This is what happens when people are awarded on job according to civil service tests rather than actual competence and appropriateness for a position. If some of the counter staff is this bad, I shudder to think at the malcontent loners lurking behind the scenes in sorting. But apart from the counterpersons with severe but apparently untreated anger-management issues, I have had too many items go missing in transit or damaged upon arrival for the U S Postal (dis) service to be any use. read more

A post office that's open til midnight? Whoever heard of such a wonderful thing? But it exists, I promise -- on a dark strip of nothingness in Cheektowaga, near the Buffalo airport. If you hate that the post office closes right as you need to mail a crucial package, or that FedEx shipping centers can't (as I recently found out) ship to P.O. boxes ... this place is the answer to your prayers. The Cayuga Road location is open til midnight on weekdays, and from early morning til late evening on Saturday and Sunday, too! They also have a mailing machine that's open 24 hours, should you roll up after closing time. This place is definitely a local secret. Anyone who's ever had an emergency in Buffalo has this address permanently emblazoned on their mental map of the area, but if you haven't, you might never know it existed. It's not listed among your choices when you call the US Post Office info number for this zip code, and it's hard to find info for it online. You might even miss it as you're driving by (which I've done), as it's set back from the main road in a business plaza, next to FedEx (also open late). Thus, it needed to go on Yelp! What's even more amazing about this post office is the fact that the service here is excellent, no matter what time you come in. This is easily the best USPS location in the area. Not only are they open much later than the other branches, but the staff is very helpful. Despite the longer lines, they usually have two to three workers available and the lines move very quickly. Marjorie in particular was a great help to me and a wonderful person to talk to. Chip can be a bit of a stickler for the rules, but he's a nice guy and has covered me in a few occasions when I was short a stamp. I know The Postal Service has received a lot of flak lately, but I think this branch shows that they can compete in more ways than one. Helpful employees and great customer service will always trump over lower prices for me. A bit of anecdotal evidence: I've never had a package arrive damaged when shipping with USPS and it's generally my choice for shipping fragile items. Having worked at FedEx and having friends at UPS, I know they are not exactly gentle with your package. USPS is the way to go for fragile items. read more

You were late mailing out an important letter and your closest mailbox doesn't pick up until tomorrow? Don't worry, just take it here! I have to admit, I never thought I'd be so grateful to have a Post Office that was open until midnight until a couple close calls with last minute paperwork. Just like every government facility, this place is closed on Sundays and does close on holidays. The staff is a hit and miss. Sometimes you get nice ones that fully explain everything you need/want to know, some are very short with their responses and rude. Here's an example I had. I had to mail a letter to Germany, which I had never done before. My grandmother informed me that I had to ship it airmail otherwise it would take forever and fill out a form. When I got there and asked about airmail, she just kept telling me it was $1.05. Okay, that's great and all, but what about the form? She said, "Like delivery confirmation?" I figured that may have been what my grandmother was talking about with a 'form' but the USPS employee told me that it would cost me an additional $34. I said forget it and left and went back later that night and asked the guy the same thing. He fully explained everything and informed me that they no longer make you fill out an 'airmail form'; which is what my grandmother must have been talking about, since USPS no longer ships by sea. He said everything is shipped via airmail so they got rid of the form and the 'airmail' stickers and instead replaced it with a convenient stamp that had a little picture of an airplane in the corner which signified that it was being sent by airmail. Regardless of some of the clueless staff, this place is a lifesaver. Since it's open until midnight the lines aren't that bad. The prices aren't too shabby either. I recommend though if you want to ship anything, do it by big envelopes. Boxes will cost you dearly! I sent a scarf via box which wound up costing me around $16 since they charge you for weight and bulkiness of the box. I shipped another scarf in an envelop and it only cost me $3+. And only $1.05 to mail a letter to Germany? Definitely not that bad! So if you're ever in a crunch for time and really need to get those important documents, letters, or even Christmas/Holidays cards out, stop by this location and they'll have them out for you in no time! read more

I had so many Christmas card to stamp, Kelsey offered to help me in between taking care of other customers. That was so nice. This post office location is pretty much the best you can ask for. It's open late, typically have 2-3 counter clerks to assist you, and the employees there for the most part are helpful and patient (I honestly don't know how they deal with all of the stupid questions everyday). However, I only give it 3-stars because there are some employees there - the newer ones - who are just plain bad at their job, or maybe more accurately don't know how to do it. Two personal examples: An express package I sent did not arrive on time. Express mail is the only mail service that USPS guarantees will arrive on a certain date. If it doesn't you are entitled to a refund. I went to this location and filled out the request for refund slip. There was only one clerk at the time, and he was new (I used to live nearby and shipped a lot of packages because I sell on eBay so I recognize the employees) and when I brought him the slip he looked at it and handed it back to me and said "I don't know how to do this so you'll have to come back when someone else is here". Yes, because we all have nothing else to do...is giving customer refunds not part of the basic training? Just last week dropped off a package that I was mailing parcel post. Again, new woman at the counter. I buy postage online as it saves me a little bit vs what they charge you at the counter. I have a cheapo -$20 scale that I weigh my packages on. So sometimes I'm off by an ounce or two. Anyways, so I brought in a 5-lb package. The clerk takes the package, puts it on the counter, and she says "you only paid for 5-lbs and it weighs 5 pounds 5 ounces". No problem I'll pay the difference. Then oops she realizes that she has no idea how to charge me the difference. So she asks one of the other clerks who I know has been there for a long time and he shows her how to do it. Here's the best part - I hear him say to her "Don't do this here because if you do his tracking number will no longer work. You have to push this button here instead." Of course what does she do? Wrong button. Then she gives me a receipt and I tell her that it only shows that I paid an additional $1.28 and it does not show that I have mailed the package. It was Christmas time and it was busy so I didn't want to hold up the line. Well now the tracking number doesn't show up and nobody can help me locate it. And I have an angry buyer on eBay because rightfully so, they have no proof that the item was mailed. Short story long, if you can, use the APC in the lobby. No human error except possibly your own. The hours here are the best you'll find anywhere in the region if you need to go to the counter since they stay open much later. They used to be open until midnight but recently I believe their hours have been cut to 8:30PM. The dirty little secret here used tobe that if you miss the last drop off at most post offices at 5PM, you can drop off your package here by 8PM and it still goes out that same day if it is anything shipped by air. This may have changed since their hours have been shortened. Also keep the phone number on the profile page here handy because this facility doesn't show up for some reason when you use the USPS branch locator on their website (go figure). read more

I've never had a problem with the employees or service rendered at this location so I'm not sure what the poster who reviewed this branch below is talking about. Of course it is busy at the Christmas holidays so don't wait until Dec 20 to mail a package across the country. Mail early! The USPS is funded through stamps and retail services NOT your tax dollars as people mistakenly believe. The USPS is MUCH cheaper to mail your items than FedEx and USPS. Sorry, but I worked at a place where the only delivery option was UPS. I can't tell you how many times expensive items ($1,000+) were damaged upon receipt. One time I was actually waiting at the receiving dock and the idiot delivery driver was backing towards the dock (which was slanted downwards) with his back door wide open. Several boxes tumbled out on the concrete into the wet pavement as I had to yell at the guy to STOP backing up! Well, of course 2 of these boxes were mine with EXPENSIVE equipment in it. I told the guy, "I'm not accepting these NOW!" and took pics on my cell phone to document the damage and incident. Privatize the USPS?? I don't think so. read more

So I did and my box just fit but wouldn't fall out the other end, so I asked for help, and the associate said that's because it doesn't fit and walked away. My husband and I have really gotten into selling our old junk/unwanted and unused stuff on eBay recently. Since we live right around the corner from here, this place is pretty convenient for us to mail our items from! Like one of the other reviewers said, staff can really be hit or miss. There's one guy that seems really super friendly and helpful and there's another that's downright MEAN! I try to avoid going through the line and dealing with the actual people at all costs! If I'm mailing something that's too big for the automated postage center (WHICH I LOVE, by the way) then I'll just take it to FedEx. We were mailing a package the other day that was on the heavier side and definitely too big to mail in the bin by the automated postage center, so we compared the pricing between FedEx (which is right next door) and USPS and it ended up being $2.00 cheaper at FedEx. So, in conclusion, this place is awesome for the convenience of late night/odd hours when you need to ship something, not so great if you have to wait in line and then deal with someone who obviously hates people. :) read more

Today Jan 24 2015 Sat, I was treated very badly from my female postal carrier. I just moved here 2 weeks ago and I am not used to locked mailboxes. The carrier was on the other of the hallway delivering mail to locked boxes. I attempted to go into my own mailbox and while she was finished she did not want to wait for me to go into my own box, so she said, "Do You Mind?". I told her I was in a hurry and will be done in a minute and asked if she had any mail for me while my box was opened by me. She sarcastically stated, "Well if I did not have to wait an hour for you to finish, then I would have looked for you...but none of the mail I am holding is in order!" So she refused to give me my mail and I left. I humbly reminded her that she did not wait an hour for me but about 1.5 min. I also told her I have fibromyalgia and have numb figures so I am handicapped. She lashed out, "I don't know what that means." Her sarcasm and meanness cut like a knife and I just moved there. She wanted me to wait till she opens each mailbox before I can take my mail even if she was on other side of hall opposite of my box. I could not believe her rudeness and her insensitivity. When I have talked to the Supervisors at this Galleria Drive district, they have taken my complaints lightly when at the last address I was not getting important Homeowners Insurance Mail and my policy was cancelled and a major fire occurred and I had my policy cancelled due to an undelivered bill so my policy was 2 weeks late. Other bills from other agencies were not delivered by the postal carrier and all the Supervisors had to say was that "Our carrier did not do this"...This happened about 5 different occasions and the Supervisors were notified but nothing was done. Now today this is a new incident with a female postal carrier in which she yelled at me for going into my own box because she wanted me to stand and wait while she delivered about 14 tenants mailboxes while I wait and I was pressed for time and had to leave quickly. Her demeanor was insensitive, disrespectful and unprofessional and was not sensitive to my handicapped fingers when I told her....The Supervisors on Galleria Drive need to be active listeners and take the time to take our complaints seriously without becoming Hostile towards the Public who take the time to let them be aware of our complaints and send us a written reply back instead of taking our complaints and not returning our calls or sending a follow up letter to the complaintant. read more

They were so awful to me. I had strained my back and they wouldn't allow me to place the empty box on the counter first then put the contents into it and seal it. There were no other customers in the post office and they refused to help. I was in tears. Which they commented on to each other. The woman dealing with my three packages dropped on of the large ones on the floor and it came open. I said let me put some more tape on that and she snapped back at me "it too late". I was shaking. They have now lost ALL THREE of my parcels contains my clothes and a photo of my parents wedding. These people are really nasty! USPS are going to put in a complaint on my behalf.
