I have been paying for an expensive post box yearly now since moving to the city. I just got an email saying they were raising the price as well for the key and box. It is not cheap. The staff has gotten nicer (thank God that one lady retired), although most of the older staff and those who have been there the longest still do not smile or seem to want to help you when they come from the back or you ring the bell for service. Otherwise, horrible. I have lost so many packages at this point and so many have shown up months later that I do not even know where they put them. Several times I have had to help them find my items in lockers because they did not give the key. All the mail is supposed to be out by 11:30am as stated on their website and most days the mail does not enter my box until close to 3 or 4 or closing. This is a huge nuisance on weekends when you need to collect your mail upfront. Why tell someone to collect after you close? They are either overwhelmed and unable to process in appropriate time here, or they are understaffed. Communication also seems to be an issue. I have been told several times by workers that they are behind that day, but it seems to be every day even non-holiday rushes. There is always a line of people no matter the time of day I go. Wages are displayed for city workers, and we all know they make enough to warrant a smile or do their basic job. Please have the mail delivered as promised and be kind and do what you are paid well to do. This is being added to the other plethora of 1-Star reviews for them sadly. read more

I get it, we all hate our jobs. Well, most of us. Haven't you ever heard of service with a smile, should be retired lady? You don't smile, you don't say, "have a good day" or even "thank you." Your customer service lacks, either retire already or find a remote job, because you are the most unappealing postal worker ever. Note to the man, who I assume is the manager.(guy who doesn't wear the postal service uniform) You aren't scary, you aren't intimidating. Who are you trying to scare by saying, "this is a ONE TIME chance." I'm sorry that you got my package the day before, but do your damn job and sort the mail. Don't try to intimate me. I deal with preschoolers more intimidating than you, get off your high horse. The only person who is actually willing to help is the taller man of Asian decent. (Sorry, sir, I forget your name, but you are wonderful.) Please, do yourselves a favor and hire more people like him. I wish I could give a 0 star review because this has got to be the worst post office in the entire Santa Ynez Valley. Learn customer service or how to say, "thank you" or "have a great day." The Buellton post office keeps misplacing packages sent by me. Their latest masterpiece is sending a package that is meant for Austria to AUSTRALIA!!! There is a difference of 3 letters and 9926 miles! I clearly noted AUSTRIA on the USPS Customs Declaration and Dispatch Note, and clearly wrote the recipient's address in capital letters. However, they shipped it to Australia. This is by far not the first time they misplaced a package (within the US, too). I don't know whether the problem lies with the post office in Buellton or the USPS sorting facility elsewhere, but the fact remains that several of my packages were misplaced, and the one to Austria (there are no kangaroos in Austria) remains lost. One time is an accident, multiple times is a pattern. A pattern of gross negligence and/or incompetence. If you want to mail anything that's even remotely valuable, I strongly recommend going to the building across the street from USPS, where they offer UPS, Fedex, and DHL shipping services. (No, I'm not affiliated with that other business, just thoroughly disgusted with the US Postal Disservice.) read more

This is seriously one of the worst post office's I've ever encountered. The issues started about a year ago when I moved to Buellton. The housing development I live in is new and portions of it are under construction. Mind you, the entire development is completely safe (people are allowed to live here after all) and FedEx/UPS have zero problems delivering to our doors. However, USPS has deemed this a "hazardous area" and thus, if it doesn't fit in our mailbox kiosk at the street, they simply won't deliver it. The best part is they act like the package was delivered by marking it "delivered" online. So you spend most of your next few days, searching for the package only to find out it's been sitting at the post office the entire time. There was one time when I went in for a package and the gentlemen at the counter said: "okay, let me go in the back and look." Great I thought. The employee came back and said "ya, there's a lot of packages to go through" and then just stared at me. Umm, it is the post office after all, sorting packages is the job. So I asked "okay, so what's the plan?" and he responded "when we get time, we'll look through it and let you know." I told him "I don't have time to badger the post office all day, can you call me when you find it?" and the response was "sure, that works" like he was doing me a favor? I left and approximately 10 minutes later he calls to inform me they found the package. Wow, what a waste of my time. Fast forward to a few days ago -- Amazon and the USPS website show that the package was delivered to my mailbox. Yet, there's no package in my mailbox. So I chalk this up to another "we lied and it's really at the post office" moments. I head down there and the package is nowhere to be found. They talk to the carrier who says "they absolutely remember putting it in my mailbox." That's clearly a lie -- the package isn't there! It hasn't ever been there! I get you want to believe you did that, but you didn't, no matter how much you think it's true. I strongly encourage people in the area to use FedEx or UPS. However, you have to be careful with the new UPS Last Mile Service where UPS handles the delivery up until "the last mile" where they deliver it to the USPS for final delivery. I fell victim to that once -- never again. read more

Worst post office ever, I tried to make a complaint in person a few years back, afterwards the mail person shows up at my house yelling at me for complaining. Now I'm having packages delivered to a business address, we are in the year 2019 ,so we have great ability to track packages, except when they get handed off to Buellton USPS. I have had at least 10 packages " attempted to deliver " but no one ever showed up , so this Saturday I wait at office all day. And they lied "attempted to deliver " Not only was I there, but 15 other people were also there until after 8:00pm. Today is Monday I returned to the office at 3:30 pm. Today at that time there were 6 people here 2 of them sitting in the front office, glass door and big windows ,it is now 5:44pm and apparently according to Buellton USPS they " attempted to deliver at 4:47pm" I know some people don't like the word, but "Liars" would be a proper description...actually "Lazy Liars" might be more accurate. If I could give this post office ZERO stars, I would. I don't live in Buellton, but my parents do, and I sent my mother her Mother's Day gift here because the website where I ordered her gift didn't recognize her address. I tracked the package through the UPS & USPS apps and let her know when the package arrived. She went in not once but TWICE and both times the bitch who works there refused to do her damn job!!! She kept telling my mother that they sent her gift back to where it came from, and I even spoke with the woman, and she was USELESS!!! What's so asinine is that I still have the tracking number in my USPS app, and it literally hasn't moved, so that stupid idiot of a woman is lying. It's now way past Mother's Day, and my mom still doesn't have her gift. I had to make arrangements with the wonderful company where her present was purchased so that she'll finally get the package!!!! ALL THE PEOPLE IN THIS LOCATION NEED TO LOSE THEIR JOBS!!!!
