Facts: 1. If you are serviced by this post office things that the USPS website say were delivered will simply not ever appear on the regular 2. If you are expecting a package at home on the day it is scheduled to be delivered, the USPS will just put a pink slip to pick it up at the post office on your door without ever ringing the bell or attempting delivery 3. I'm rooting for the robots to take over. I dread every time I have to come here. The last time I had to send out an important package I took it on the train to Penn Station rather than go to this place. Retrieving packages is even worse. Thoughts and prayers. I have literally sent packages back to the shipper rather than have to deal with them. Inefficient doesn't begin to describe how bad their system is. I wonder if packages are going home with the employees, and their incompetence is a cover-up. Or are they are really that incompetent? I can't decide which would be worse. They have lost packages, can't find packages they say they have (and the guy who seemed to be the manager was rude about it when I complained that it was taking 45 minutes for them to search the back room, where it was supposedly somewhere); and their supposed re-delivery process doesn't function at all. There was one competent and friendly employee I dealt with once. She was never seen from again. I suspect that the manager stashed her in the back room, and put a re-delivery label on her, so clearly she will never be heard from again. I have tried to write my district's Congressperson about this place (we are both in the district); I don't even get a response. She probably knows it is a lost cause. (Still, a response would have been nice,Yvette Clarke. Write to her if you live in the district!) I went to the lower Manhattan DMV recently - it was a great experience. If the DMV can transform, so can the USPS. Otherwise, the robots will take your jobs, and I will be there to welcome them. USPS consistently provides false claims of "delivery attempted" and "notice left". More often than not, you'll find yourself physically queued up at the post office on a saturday to pick up packages yourself as the postal workers in this area are allowed to game the system without consequence. read more

Thieves, liars, belligerent, and openly hostile employees make this a disastrous experience. Every piece of my mail that goes through this office and appears to contain some form of money arrives opened, boxes are routinely smashed to fit within our mailbox, and last weekend $200 worth of boxes were left in our building's lobby instead of delivered to the super or, for fuck's sake LEFT AT OUR DOOR, were subsequently stolen. In summary: If you like your mail to be rifled through, destroyed, or outright stolen, choose the Empire Boulevard Post Office for all your non-delivery needs. The shittiest post office experience ever in life. i mean i know post office's aren't Disneyland or anything, but i would at least like to have my packages in my possession at some point. I just moved here from California and had several packages sent over here before I moved. I was informed that one of my packages (the smallest and least important) was stolen in a mailman robbery. WTF. After speaking to the supervisor of the post office, he was a complete and utter asshole. He said "well imagine how the mailman felt and we live in a pretty bad neighborhood and the streets aren't that safe." OK, I get that... but can I get my shit please?!!? I mean seriously, do people really steal shit from mailmen/women? I was supposed to receive my other 3 large packages (at least $3000 worth of stuff) on the 19th and it's currently the 21st. Worst post office I've ever been to. Windows are short-staffed, employees have short tempers, and the line is ALWAYS LONG and SLOW AS HELL. Carriers have never delivered a package to my apartment, only the orangish slip from hell. I tried levying a complaint with the federal government, but surprise, the consumer affairs person neither answers her phone, not calls back. Added bonus of going to this branch is the huge line of postal employees smoking outside the building, and the diesel fumes one has to swim through to get inside spewing from all the trucks idling while parked on the sidewalk. Perhaps one of the worst costumer service experience that I've ever experienced in my life. If you come to pick up a package be prepare to: - Be lost (although, it's a very small post office), because no one in the personnel can tell you where you should go or do to get your package. -Be prepared to be scream at because you're asking what to do and the person at post office do their job. Also, don't claim justice for being waiting for an hour and half, anybody the clerk believes to go first: Go First! -To resume, there is a high possibility that you WON'T get your package because she won't find it. By far the worst post office I have ever been to. I dread the days I have to pick up a package from them as I can expect no less than an hour wait. Typically the employees are at best, average in their approach to helping customers. The manager, however, is very rude and I have seen her talk down to customers. This post office is horrible. There are never enough clerks to service the customers. The window that is supposed to offer stamps and money orders only is rarely staffed when I visit and there's no machine from which to purchase stamps in the lobby. In addition, this station is the one I share a zip code with and my mail carriers are quite careless with mail delivery. Very often (numerous days per week) I get mail for my neighbors and they get mail for me. I firmly believe in large-scale public institutions but if they can't actually provide the services that they were designed to provide, they should be shuttered and this is a perfect example of an institution that should either be shuttered or have new management installed immediately. If my taxes are paying to keep this place open, why can't it work the way its supposed to? read more

After each customer serviced they take a 10 minute break. Line is always out the door. Only one window working. Cleanliness and friendly service very optional if given. I understand you don't want to be at work on a Saturday morning but rolling your eyes and sucking your teeth when all I'm doing is asking about my package is so unprofessional. Yet another fun post office story: I've requested two redeliveries for a package that the post office "tried to deliver" while I was home, and they haven't even attempted a redelivery since the original date about a week ago. I tried calling the post office multiple times throughout the day and the line was busy every time - I honestly think I would have more luck winning concert tickets on a radio call-in contest. Eventually I gave up and had to call the 1-800 customer service line, and the associate sighed and said this happens all the time with this branch. Cannot stress enough that this place rivals Dante's lowest level of hell when it comes to efficiency and customer service. Cut the crap and just file a complaint with the 1-800 line, and maybe one day these incompetent people won't have a job to not do. read more

When I lived in Crown Heights, I was here every day to bring in my fist full of pink slips. I worked all day and was never home for deliveries. These guys never lost a parcel, damaged a document, or missed a beat. I regret moving from Crown Heights because my current post office (PRATT STATION) is easily the worst in all of NYC. Just have all your stuff ready before you enter and you should be okay. Usually the manager comes around when the line gets real long to keep things moving and get people their packages. Consistently terrible experiences here. When I can get away with it, I drag all my 14oz+ packages on the subway to my office and ship them from there to avoid this place. The lines are always CRAZY long with only 1 teller available (2 if they're feeling efficient, but that 2nd one is usually for package pick-up only). Be prepared to be here for at least 30 minutes, likely longer. No package drop for pre-paid packages over 13oz, although they have a sign advertising the automated postage center stuck to the bottom of a window. I waited over an hour to drop off a 1.5 pound package because I had to wait for a clerk. The staff is extremely unfriendly, probably because they're tired of all the grumpy customers snapping at them. The office itself is dirty and looks old. One star is because I never had a problem there every time I visit occasionally. The other star is because they always deliver my stuff without any problems. USPS is fine, FedEx is fine, but UPS around here lately is GARBAGE. ZERO STARS: We just saw the manager of this post office, kick a man out for having a SERVICE DOG. She interrupted her conversation (with a man, who was trying to pick up a package with one of those slips, and she was saying that they don't have it and that she can't do anything to help him even though the package was insured) to say to the man with a disability of some kind, thus with a clearly marked service dog, "sir, you can't have that dog in here." He says, "it's a service dog". She says, "I'm gonna need to see some state or federal ID for that dog". He says, "there is no such thing as federal or state service dog ID, so I have nothing to show you". She kicked him out. This is like going up to someone in a wheelchair, and saying, "I'm sorry, there's no sitting in this post office. You can either stand up or leave." It is SO offensive. This post office is full of people who just want to tell you they cannot do things for you, or that you have done something wrong. They consistently prove that they have zero interest in assisting you, and they seem to get a little buzz when they get to tell you 'no' or that you 'should have looked online'. It is a mess. I once scheduled a pickup with them, online, as I was told to do, and I got an email confirming that the pickup was complete, as I was looking at the package they were supposed to be picking up. When you call the national USPS line, they tell you to call the local office. The phone is off the hook during all hours of operation. They installed a parcel locker in our building but then never gave keys to the residents. Now they dump packages there, never to be delivered but marked as delivered. How do you get your mail?
