This is a relatively convenient Post Office location since it's in close proximity of my workplace. However, I've had an appointment for a passport card here sometime ago and it was abruptly canceled for no legitimate reason. Usually when I come here, there's never a line which I appreciate. The employees at the window are attentive and professional. This post office is a necessity for the company so I doubt this location is going anywhere anytime soon. read more

Okay, obviously by the reviews, this WAS among the worst post offices in Brooklyn. Last year they split apart large package pick up to another location and, ta da, it is now among the best. MUCH shorter lines, much happier clerks, much better service. And folks receiving packages are no longer clogging things up (they are nearby at Dean St.). (1) There is an electronic mailing kiosk right at the entrance for folks who don't mind that kinda thing. Also, a drop off box for mail and small - medium packages. (2) The newly shortened line is MUCH faster so no more cutting in line. (3) My building now gets 99% of our mail even though the entire U.S. Post Office service has seen brutal budget cuts and new mail delivery folks are usually just temps. (4) Last year I didn't get extremely important pills in the mail (ones that UPS and FedEx rarely delivered properly). The manager of the post office dug around and found them and delivered them at 7 pm at night themselves!! Wow, now I am a fan of this branch. And a fan of fully funding U.S. Post Offices! I was not aware a post office even existed on Atlantic Avenue before I did a keyword search. After an unsuccessful drop off at another USPS, I decided to walk to this one. After the tape mishap at the previous post office, I purchased a $0.99 roll at Lots Less and was on my way. My preference was to visit a rep at the window for receipt purposes but the line was too long and everyone was bunched up (no social distance) behind each other. The space was long and narrow---I felt too uncomfortable to wait in such close proximity. Since I bought the tape and affixed my label to the box, I'll never know if this post office had the same rules as the one in Cadman Plaza. I asked for help about a drop off kiosk and presumably an employee directed me to where I can find it. I discovered it was through a door that just said "drop off package" of which I placed my box on an overflowing bin. I threw caution to the wind and hope my box arrives to the proper recipient since I left without a receipt. It is too much of a headache figuring out where one can find a better USPS location. WARNING: DO NOT SEND WEDDING INVITATIONS FROM THIS POST OFFICE! This is the worst post office in New York State. I design wedding invitations for a living and have seen my fair share of poorly managed post offices in the tri-state area, but this one deserves a special award for its ineptitude & disorganization. Recently I was sending out 130 invitations for a client with a non-machinable stamp (70 cents) to account for its extra weight. I went to this post office and asked the clerk to weigh AND measure the invitation for accuracy (despite doing this at home already. I've had problems in the past with this post office and wanted to be 100% certain I had enough postage). After weighing and measuring several invitations, she told me "one non machinable stamp was enough." The manager was also on duty at the time, and I asked her to double check for me. She said I had enough postage, so I gave her half of the invites, and left to go finish assembling the rest. When I returned at 9am the next day, I handed a new the teller the rest of the pre-stamped invitations. This time, after measuring and weighing the exact same invitation, the teller said "you are missing 30 cents." I explained that just 16 hours earlier both the manager AND a teller had weighed them and given me approval. This new teller said "well if you sent them out with one non machinable stamp, they either will be returned to the address, or the postman will ask the recipient for 30 cents in order to "receive" the invitation." I asked for the manager - the same one who approved the stamps the evening before - for help and clarification. Her answer was "well all you can do now is hope for the best." The end result: close to a third of the guests NEVER received their invitations. The invitations that did arrive, took almost 3 weeks to arrive (to guests based in New York City no less). PS- this post office REFUSES to hand-cancel postage (despite the fact that the United States Post Office says ANY Post office can and will hand-cancel). I never had this problem sending invitations from westchester (or even the post offices on the upper east and upper west side). When I lived in Boston, they even let me hand cancel postage myself. Long story short: if you are sending out something IMPORTANT, pick another location. This one is useless, negligent, uncaring and rude. read more

Horrible post office with rude, vindictive staff (specifically Lakey). The staff take their lunch breaks when the post office is at its absolute busiest with lines out the door. They then have the nerve to scold customers for not knowing the ins and outs of USPS rates. Extremely frustrating place. This is the worst post office in Brooklyn. The lack of effort. There really needs to be some accountability for these post offices. FIRSTLY, if your business states that it's open at 9 am, then it should open at that time. Literally saw one of the employees rolling in after 9 am and then opening the facility at 9:20 am. Now that the facility is finally open, after about 15 minutes one of the tellers decided to go on a break. So now this long line that formed because they didn't open at 9 am is even longer because now there is one teller. Once I finally get to the teller, there's an issue. She doesn't want to scan my label because it's a day old. Keep in mind that they are not open on Sundays. She refused to give me a receipt. Also I had priority mail and she refused to give me the tape that they have for customers who pay for priority mail. I just asked her to give me my mail and I took it to another Post office who took my package no issue.What a waste of time. USELESS. read more

I want to compliment the patient and friendly staff of this USPS. I had a package that was being held. So I came here at 1:45pm on a Saturday, and they close at 2:00pm on Saturdays. The line wasn't too bad, I waited for about 10 minutes. Even so, the employee (I wish I could remember her name!) was very APOLOGETIC for the wait. Compared to other USPS lines, it was nothing! Nonetheless I appreciated the gesture. Her pleasant attitude despite being a Saturday and about 10 min to closing time was so refreshing! It turned out that I went to the wrong location so the employee patiently gave the address and hours of the correct location. I really appreciated her pleasant attitude and willingness to help. Basic courtesy is a 2-way-street and makes everyone's lives easier. Misc notes: the location seems new/renovated. It was well stocked with postal-related needs such as boxes and envelopes. read more

I usually like to come to this post office because of the self service kiosk and it's location is close to my home. I'm big on taking advantage of services that don't require me to interact with people if I don't have to. One day I was able to ship one of my packages seamlessly this way but I couldn't with my second package as the scale was broken. I was running short on time, and decided I would come back later that day. The manager (or I'm assuming that's who she is as she was in plain clothes in comparison to the other staff) is so rude and for lack of a better word, annoying. I barely even stepped one foot in the door upon my second arrival before she started to question me about where my mask was. Not even a hello or informal greeting before she bothered to question me. To be clear, I am by no means AN ANTI-MASKER, and it's also none of my business if you are. But also I had just come from the gym and was out of breath from the walk, and might I add masks are recommended but not required. Either way, I had no problem with putting on my mask. I just don't like someone enforcing things that are recommended. Dependent upon the place, we have a choice if we want to wear a mask, and I don't take lightly to people questioning my choices. Anyway, I put on the mask and headed to the back to wait for my turn at the window. The manager was staring at me from across the room and walks my way to once again question me. I understand staff being helpful but I was aware of what I needed to do and more importantly did not need or ask for help. She asked me if I was shipping my package and if I had a pre paid label in which I shared I didn't. She then tells me I would need to pay $7.99 for a To & From label. Just for the label (not including the postage). The money isn't the issue but I have NEVER in my life paid for JUST a label. Nine times out of ten I go to the window and ask for a label, write out my addresses, pay for the postage, and ship my package, which I'm sure I would have done had this manager not insert herself. Even at the self service kiosk, a label automatically prints out with the postage plastered on it. So why would I suddenly pay an additional $7.99 once again just for a label? As a result, I didn't want to cause a scene especially as I have been working on my patience lately. So I walked away and will NEVER return to this post office. I came on a Wednesday afternoon- used the self serve kiosk only to find out I still needed to wait in line to hand someone my package- with only one person working for the whole place. There needs to be at least 2 on the counters ! There is no getting out of going to the post office (unless you want to spend all the money on fed ex or UPS) but this was a really bad post office experience. read more

What kind of despicable human being rips the pen off the chain? That pen is there for all of us. All I wanted was to send underprivileged kids care packages, and since I wasn't able to address these packages, you sir (or madam), are the reason that those kids are going to go hungry. So maybe that wasn't all true. Some guy actually lent me his pen, so my package got addressed just fine. And, I suppose I should admit that I was sending a package for purely selfish reasons that had nothing to do with helping children of any kind. But I'm sure there are good people out there in Brooklyn whose altruism was inhibited by the lack of pens at this post office. All in all, this is not the worst government-run facility I've ever been to. Awful experience. Avoid at all costs. I waited in line for a half hour for them to tell me they were not shipping to France. There was NO information in the building that would indicate this was the case. I even checked online ahead of time. No one made announcements at any point that they had LIMITED service. They then asked me to PAY for a box that I had "damaged" and could not use. The supervisor screamed at me in front of the entire office and offered no alternative. Extremely unprofessional experience and staffing. I will not be using the USPS from now on and will recommend others do the same. read more

This place should be shut down period. A complete waste of tax dollars. The line is long but moves fast. The workers are bitter but not any more rude than your average post office. This is a post office that does passport applications but you need to call to book an appointment at least one week ahead of time. When you have your appointment they take a while to call you and the process takes 30 minutes. It's not a good system and confusing. read more

Wow - I don't ever write reviews but, today was such a horrible brief experience I decide I would share. So I came in on a Saturday as google maps let me know it closed at 3pm I got there at 1pm. Door was open everything looked normal- women behind the counter were y'all back turned so I began filling out my envelope- all of a sudden a women behind the counter yelling at me "what are you doing here" not professional at all - "what are you doing here?" Is not a way to ask a customer to leave- I then said ok I thought it was open and she then yelled back it's not and you need to leave I said ok - and still she continued to go on- saying unnecessary comments that "I must be stupid?" At that point I just walked out I'm really disappointed in the postal service for allowing this kind of behavior- literally just a human trying to mail another human a letter - if the store is closed update your times!!! Nasty, slow, condescending USPS workers at this location. Twice I've been there & both times the agent was on a personal call during my transaction. I believe they think because they're behind the plexiglass we can't hear their conversation. My agent was using foul language while talking on the phone. Mellie was rude, the supervisor of this location is nasty. She clearly got the position because she was there for a long time & not because she was qualified. She gives very blue collar supervisor but I believe she thinks she's in a white collar environment. The most professional person there was the person cleaning the lobby. read more

Ever since I was a child I loved going to the post office. I always thought it was such an honorable and neat experience. However after today I may never step inside a post office again, well at least this location. I was in the area and was in need of a few things. I was happy that it was only 9:15am so I figured the post office shouldn't be too busy yet. Upon walking in I thought I had entered World War III. I couldn't believe what a mess the place was. There was water spilled on the floor, an overflowing garbage can, paper all over the place, and trash laying on the counters. I was absolutely horrified and concerned. Mostly concerned because I know that it couldn't have been wrecked that much already. So was this mess left from the day before? Nonetheless there were about 4 people in line in front of me. The line moved like molasses since there was only 2 windows opened and one of the windows was tied up with a woman who never received a package. Finally, a third window opened. The woman who served me was super friendly and speedy. I feel bad for her having to work at a place like that. In my opinion, this post office is an absolute disgrace to the United States. read more

I wish I could give negative stars; this place is unequivocally the absolute worst business I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. In terms of package deliveries, they don't even make an attempt and then lie about it. I had a package scheduled to arrive on Monday. I work from home so I was home all day, and the doorbell never once rang. The next day I receive an email saying the package was attempted to be delivered in the morning (note there was never actually a pink slip left anywhere). I scheduled a redelivery on Wednesday and yet again, no doorbell rang and no package. I called this office on Thursday, the man I spoke with said it would be delivered on that day, yet lo and behold no delivery. Then again on Friday, home all day, no doorbell and no delivery. I then tried to call the office again at 12:30 on Saturday yet no one picks up even though they're supposed to be open till 1:00 on that day. Being this terrible at one's job goes beyond simple apathy and stupidity; this level of ineptitude takes a special kind of dedication to being the absolute worst employees and business you could possibly imagine. Good Lord, I don't know where to start. I guess I can put this first... My father had worked at The Post Office for over 30 years and was VERY high up when he retired. I took him to this Post Office when he visited NYC as I wanted him to see it. He literally couldn't believe it. It shocked him. Unfortunately, he was retired and there was nothing he could do. Not only is this Post Office disgusting, most of the employees are rude, lazy, slow, and indifferent. You will NEVER, I repeat NEVER find more than three windows open, regardless of the line out the door. And if there are three open, consider yourself lucky! The "APC" is CONSTANTLY full and malfunctioning. So even if you can use it, there's nowhere to put your package when you're done. I could go on and on but I honestly don't have the time. Just let me say this has to be the worst post office on EARTH, filled with some of the laziest, good for nothing piece of human excrement to ever exist. So one of my many sagas unfolded because a friend, on my way home, asked if I could kindly drop a package to the post office for her. So I rode my bike to the post office and because I hadn't planned on stopping anywhere didn't have my lock. I brought my bike inside and placed in the corner away from anyone or anything. I waited on line for about 20mins only to be told once at the window that I will be refused service unless I removed my bike from inside the post office. Saga 2 unfolded because the post office keeps asserting that they attempted deliveries to my job but NEVER LEAVE PINK SLIPS. So I go to the post office every time and wait in long lines to get the window to be told I must use the "APC", since I don't have pink slips, to print out the info on my package whereabouts. Then go back to the window to be told oh the package isn't here but we forgot to update the USPS main site to say it went back out for delivery. So now I come to work today and track my package to see that it was delivered at 5:58pm to my job. But wait, here is the kicker, MY OFFICE CLOSES AT 5:00PM. There is no one here at that time to accept anything. So WHERE IS MY PACKAGE? p.s. Good luck trying to call this post office to get any information, they never answer the phone and if they do, which is a big if, they place you on hold for more than 20 mins at which point you simply hang up. So, it seems most everyone else thinks this PO location blows, but I actually had probably the most pleasant PO experience in NYC to date! I loathe going to the Adelphi location so I decided to try my luck here. Less than a minute after I get in line, the gentleman working the floor greeting customers and regulars offers to take those w/packages to ship and paying w/a card over to the automated machine. I step right up since I have two bulky boxes under my arms and allow the kind man to aid me. 3.5 painless minutes later, both packages are paid for and on their way through the postal system. I have my receipt w/tracking info and I am set to go. And, besides that kind man, I overheard a customer engage in friendly small talk w/a clerk behind the window. This is a shocker, considering at the usual Adelphi PO, you are likely to only hear angry and impatient customers complaining and/or angry and impatient clerks complaining. Honestly there are no surprises here: apathetic employees (check), disorganized racks (check), long waits (check), etc... I totally agree and sympathize with everyone about the lack of service and efficiency here. It's easy to get on the complain train. But sometimes the service is good and the employees helpful and quick when there aren't too many people. So I have to point out something that a lot of people don't realize: a lot of the customers themselves are to blame for the long waits and messy conditions. When you show up are you the one standing at the window fiddling with an unpacked, unaddressed box? How have you not figured this out beforehand? Why are you still looking for the address? Are you playing twenty questions with the window teller? Having a conversation about your life story? Are you throwing packing material all over the floor? There are garbage cans for that. Are you the one shoving the wrong forms and labels back into the display cases? How hard is it to put things back in their original places? Do you need tape and something to write with? Sheesh. I have seen many of these people, always in front of me, holding up the line with their own disorganized, unaddressed piles of mail and packages behaving as if this was their first time ever in a post office. Get your stuff together and stop wasting everyone's time with your stupidity! It takes two to tango so act like you know how to mail something and what is expected. There's something called the internet if you have any questions about postage and rates, etc... Maybe the post office would be a better place if we expected more of ourselves? read more

If you want to visit hell on earth, simply try to pickup a package here. Bring your own pen!! Marvel in lines longer then those at 6th flags. Be amazed at the lack of even slightly caring. The trash covers the floor of a post office that once was or perhaps maybe never was. You will share annoyance with fellow taxpayers wasting time they will never get back. Person behind the counter looks like their soon approaching death. Sympathy for them will become overwhelming until you realize they failed to redeliver a package for you 3 times so you were forced to witness this decay. In about an hour, you will walk out thoroughly confused, this is normal. You will wonder why no one is held accountable for a growing neighborhood but kept this post office on training wheels. You might find yourself wanting to start a neighborhood petition, that everyone leaving this place would surly sign. Theses are just thoughts though because once you leave hell you want nothing to do with it. Quite possibly the least efficient post office I've ever been to. Can't even think of anything positive to share besides the fact that it's conveniently located on Atlantic Avenue. Opens late, never enough staffing, policies don't align with other post offices across the U.S., line moves agonizingly slow, most of the staff is super rude, it's usually a mess. Avoid it if at all possible. Seeing people who have to come here to pick up missed packages makes it very unlikely I'll ever live in a building in this area that doesn't have someone who can accept packages! If you do have to come here, arrive 15 minutes before it opens and it will be somewhat less painful. But not a whole lot. Otherwise I wouldn't bother...typically I drive out to the suburbs to mail anything to save my sanity or spend the extra money to send it via ups or fedex. read more

There's literally only one GOOD person I've encountered after 7yrs in this neighborhood! That's sad! Especially in times were people are choosing online over in person services! Special of these times - I purchased next day delivery and signature required for VERY IMPORTANT documents, I also asked if there were other services I need to consider given the nature of my needs. The customer service agent said no this is it, guaranteed!! And if not you can return tomorrow for a refund! The package was left somewhere away from the address in a place that was assumed as the mailbox. So no signature and no delivery! Then it was recorded that I waived signature, not true! But you can't dispute what's in the system so oh well! I request supervisor who came out to tell me the same then took my receipt in the back to call delivery post office location! They made me wait for over an hour in the freezing lobby only to say they aren't giving me a refund due to Covid! Yet I couldn't leave without my receipt so in COVID TIMES I HAD TO WAIT OVER AN HOUR WHILE RANDOM PEOPLE STAND IN LINE, COME AND GO! Exposing me to whatever! And I needed my receipt because it was the only record of have of delivering important packages!!! read more
