I've been coming here for years although I dealing with them during the COVID-19 pandemic was the straw that broke the camels back. Let me start by saying the 2 employees working at the window were very polite and tried their best. This is a case of mismanagement! I came in with a package I had to ship with a pre-paid label. This was for an exchange of a pair of sneakers. The company decided to use USPS for and asked that I get a receipt because they have issues with USPS. You cannot get a receipt for a pre-paid shipment at the self service kiosk according to the maintainance worker cleaning up so I had to wait with 12 people in front of me. Bottom line was I had to wait 40 minutes for a transaction that should not have taken more than 5 minutes even during the pandemic. Once I reached the counter I was done in under a minute. The worst part of this was that they do not have anyone enforcing social distancing or mask wearing which you can see comes up in the other reviews I read on this location. I don't like getting involved although because I was so aggravated I had to tell 2 people to put on their masks. One woman said I was going to put it on. Really? Shouldn't you be wearing it before you enter the business? How stupid are you??? My suggestion is for the US Postal Service to make it so customers with a pre-paid label can get a receipt through the kiosk. Either way it's said to see how poorly our tax dollars are wasted. This location used to be courteous in the past and turned into a horrible nightmare towards the end of 2022. I was kicked out of the window with 4 prepaid packages ( the items were already in the window) and directed to the self service kiosk only to discover that it was either not loaded with paper or not working at the moment. So here is what you need to do if you want people to only use self service kiosk for prepaid. 1: You need to empty 2 blue bins in a timely manner because they are overflowing with packages, especially the front one. 2: You need to empty everything deposited before closing ( my 2 packages I deposited yesterday at 4.50 pm are not tracking and are apparently still in the bin). If you have the side door open for people to put packages you need to keep an eye on that side door. read more

US Post Office - Crazy service - Post Offices Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

This is my local PO and I have no other nearby choice for it. For the most part my view of this establishment is 50/50 meaning half the staff are helpful and attentive while the other half just are going through the motions. The change in hours of operation awhile ago to 9am really compromises its use and as result the lines build up. The main problem here is even with the later opening, they still do not put sufficient clerks at the window. and you can expect to lose a good half an hour just for a simple packet. A lot of what I must mail out are Amazon orders and they require a media mail classification. This is unable to be performed by the machines and hence always weighed individually. Managers seem to require their staff to always run through a menu of purchasing options and even if you say "all I want is this mailed first class with nothing else" you will be asked for insurance, stamps, confirmation etc, etc etc. It adds unnecessary time to the transaction. Managers are also generally invisible at the office when the line is longer than normal. The few times I have seen them they ask how they can help I reply "get behind a window and move the crowd out" when they snarl that they are management I suggest that they lead by example. Hey, it works in corporate America. Recently I was scolded by a staff who said my packet did not merit media mail and I said that it indeed did. She didn't seem to understand her own process and lined out how she did since she worked there. I suggested that she look into it because I was correct while she was not. Fortunately my items do get there destinations safe and sound and the main issue is in the time management of the processing. With nine windows and one APC machine it should not take you over 30 minutes to get out of there. read more

Why 1 star? It's not the long, slow lines. It's not the utterly indifferent workers. It's not the general sense of decay and filth. It's not the short hours. It is simply that you cannot rely on anything mailed from here to make it to its destination. Whether it's a result of pilfering (most likely, and happened to many others here), sloppiness or simply throwing away mail rather than sending it on, this branch is a very poor choice. Good luck trying to follow up - they NEVER answer the phone, and are not much better in person. The manager of this office needs to be removed immediately. Not sure why there hasn't yet been a postal police investigation of this place; it's needed. They are thieves, avoid at all costs. *The other, smaller PO in Bay Ridge is also terrible, but at least they actually do the bare minimum of sending the mail on. read more

I recalled visiting this large post office building a few years ago and making a u turn as it was crowded as hell but fast forward to now and no u turn , no using the fast self service machine , and no verbal assault from a useless postal window clerk , No I will wait on the short line and get a few postal money orders and some stamps. Place is big inside and plenty of room to practice social D. Self service kiosk , plenty of po boxes for rental, passport services window and plenty of retail windows that are actually open for biz. The lady clerk must have received her stimulus check or enjoyed looking at my super handsome face cause she was really nice and I don't see a supervisor or the post master general around so she must be sincere . Disgusting. Worst postal branch I've ever enountered. If I was as bad at my job as my postman I would (rightfully) be fired. Its my understanding that they have no incentive to do their jobs properly. My postman has a nasty habit of damaging Netflix discs by awkwardly stuffing them into the postbox. This happened three times in one month and I ultimately decided to cancel Netflix. I routinely get mail in my post box that belongs to other tenants in my building. It makes me wonder how much of my mail is being given away to strangers. Additionally, the lazy scumbag postman leaves failed delivery notices without even ringing the bell (if any notice is left at all ). If you attempt calling the branch they will go out of their way to be as useless and nasty as possible. I have filed countless complaints with usps and nothing has ever been done to improve the situation. I never had these problems when I lived in queens. Well, since I'm not in midtown every day these days, it looks like this is becoming my default post office, for the time being. It's easy to get to, and they've got an APC machine, so it's not all bad. It's not all good, either. There's only one APC machine, so if it's not working or out of labels, you're out of luck. There tends to be a long line, and the hours are rather limited. However, all my crap has gotten to its destination, so far, so I'm appreciating this station's existence. I disregarded her suggestion and instead waited in line and got Mervin (Marvin?). He asked if I had made an "appointment". I've shipped all my packages at this location and never ran into any issues until last Saturday. A packaged I was shipping out was returned to me the same day and it appears the reason was that the box was damaged and the shipping label was ripped. I don't know how that had happened. I repackaged it and attempted to ship it out again today. When I got there, I explained to the supervisor Dante what had happened. I provided him the receipt that I had paid for the shipping services and the tracking which he verified it wasn't shipped. He assured me that he'll just reprint the shipping label and I'll be on my way. I waited in line for 40 minutes and Galina behind the counter ended up being my postal service rep. I explained everything to her. She told me I had to fill out a request for refund form in which I told her I'm not looking for a refund. I just don't want to get charged again for a service I paid for but never got. She told me I'll have to pay today to have it shipped but I'll get my refund. I ended up filling out the form even though this wasn't what her supervisor had told me. She issued me a money order. Everything was going well until now she asks to see proof of the damaged package. I told her the box was damaged so I took the items out of the box and threw out the box. She took the money order back from me. So now I'm not getting my refund plus I have to pay again to have it shipped. I'm never going back to this location again. read more

I genuinely don't understand why people would complain about a line at the post office. It's like an amusement park with all the screaming without the rides - you know what to expect. You're most likely going to have to wait. So I see no point in the arbitrary deduction of stars because you somehow missed the life lesson where lines exist in some facets of living in modern society. Long, tedious lines. Furthermore, using the amusement park analogy, modern technology has allowed us to forego this waiting via machines. There are I believe 3 separate kiosks at this location where you can handle many of your mailing/shipping needs. Ever since their inception I use them to my advantage while some line waiters stand slack-jawed and forlorn beside me, somehow unaware they can expedite their experience by these modern miracles. I understand you can't do everything there - and that more often then not, when it comes to having to go to the PO, you have to go to a window. With that, I have never once had a negative experience with any of the employees that work at this location. Over the years they have always been (in varying degrees) helpful and courteous, if not sometimes brief/curt. Any negative experience I have had with the post office myself has always been a result of a customer who has lost their cool. Sorry naysayers - it's more than likely your fault. read more

Yeah, it's a little funky there in that sometimes you get a great clerk and sometimes you get an awful one. I do wish that one of the clerks spoke better English, I am certain that she is trying but she mucks it all up all of the time. But the old timers are quite good and they move the line expediently. This Post Office is trying in that there are often personnel who walk the aisle to assist customers. I love the people who work inside this post office, they are always helpful and nice. So why two stars? All too often when a package is to be delivered to my residence, they don't even attempt to actually deliver it. Their downfall is that I work from home, I even know the Fedex driver, the UPS driver and our main Mail carrier by name, in fact, they buzz my apartment when they have deliveries for other tenants. On more than one occasion, I don't receive a delivery and when I check tracking and see it marked as having four delivery attempts, four days in a row, I have to call BS! They never even try to deliver it, proof of that is there's never a door tag left (not once in four attempts?) which leaves me no instructions how to get the package, the only way I found out is by checking tracking online, well after the fact. To sum it up, they suck and need better management to supervise the employees and instruct them as to how to do their job, which you'd think is simple, delivering mail or packages is their major job function. read more

If it's raining or snowing hard, don't plan to get any mail. They have left packages outside the building in the grass or sidewalk in front of out building, or unsigned for expensive packages in the hallway. I have never been so dissatisfied with a post office as I have been with this one. I will say that the workers at the post office are always nice and try to help. Instead, it is the mail delivery person. I almost NEVER get a package from them. And I NEVER receive a delivery attempted notice. EVER. Not only that, the delivery people lie. More than once someone has sent me an overnight package that was guaranteed by noon. Never arrives by noon. And when you complain and request your money back (usually around $50 because of their ridiculous prices), they tell you that delivery person entered their delivery at noon. I try hard to only buy items online that offer FedEx or UPS, but unfortunately there are times when I'm forced to play Russian roulette with US Post Office because its the only option. This location in particular is the worst I have seen. So bad I will most likely never complain about any other post office service again -given my experiences at this location. You pay full price for at least one attempted delivery, but this is not so with USPS Bay Ridge. In several occasions I have been home all day knowing the package is suppose to be coming. I'd sit watching and refreshing my order status online as I sit next to my window. All of a sudden you see the online status set to "Delivery Attempted", when I know there was no such attempt. To top it off they leave no pink slip which oddly upsets me the most. Also, I do not deliver or receive anything I can't risk not being delivered. I have had my items go missing in two occasions. When I order merchandise for delivery that means delivery to my apartment door, not dumped in the apartment building lobby for anyone to take. At times, these packages are heavy. My bldg. has a parking lot that is used by non-residents, who can easily walk through the lobby, and grab someone else's pkgs, on their way out. This is ridiculous. Delivery service means delivery to an individual's apt door, which is the expected level of customer service. There are all sorts of reasons people request delivery, and we shouldn't have to explain why to the negligent delivery person. As a side note, there is one man on my route who does a terrific job. He's the epitome of customer service and shows that he takes pride in doing his job well. read more

Supervisor (ms. Piggy) is useless. Came in for a usps damage claim for a faucet. Took over an hour for her to show up. Then speaks to me rudely and tries to put a broken faucet together like it was legos. Then takes another hour to write up a simple USPS damage claim which should have only taken 5 minutes. She probably went out to go get some donuts cause she seemed like she was always hungry. Ms. Piggy finally came back 2 hours later with a slip and the claim was denied. What a waste of time. Had to wait 1.5 hrs with my hungry newborn baby crying. People who had an appointment on the earlier time was waiting as well while the office was not busy at all. I assume they enjoy when people suffer in order to receive the service from them. Makes them feel powerful. This is what we have now people. I wish we would apply for passport via ups or fedex. Meanwhile I go to a Manhattan location in Hells Kitchen and never had to call for an appointment. It's as easy as "do you have the form filled out and all the necessary documents?
