Going to the post office in NYC in general is normally an anxiety-inducing, blood-pressure-raising experience. On the two occasions i've come to this branch, however, i've been happily surprised by their good customer service, tidyness, and vigilance when it comes to enforcing social-distancing and mask-wearing. The clerks here are cordial and pretty efficient. There are usually 3 clerks working the windows (but i tend to go around midday). Of course you always have those nutcases who don't wear their masks properly, slow older folks, or annoying people who interrupt your time @ the window with their "quick" questions - but just make sure YOU take care of you! *Tip 1: Double-mask it (and face-shield if you're immuno-vulnerable); don't engage the crazy people; and don't be in a big hurry cuz all you'll do is stress yourself out. Both times i've had to stand in line, but was out of there within 15-35 minutes. *Tip 2: It's always a good idea to check usps.com BEFORE you go to the post office cuz you'll save yourself a LOT of time and headache if you're armed w/ information. Be smart (like me) and research beforehand so you don't get the dreaded "This is the wrong label - go fill out another one, and come back." Ain't nobody got time for that!!! So to recap: 1. Don't be a nutcase - wear a mask that covers your NOSE and MOUTH. 2. Arrive with a good attitude and INFORMED about what you need. 3. Don't be in a huge hurry - you never know if there will be lots of clerks cuz the way the post office is set up nowadays - you might hafta wait a lil bit. 4. The worst service I have ever experienced. I went with my mother to go get our passports and we set an appointment for 11:45 AM and we weren't seen till 12:45. Not only that the lady who was in charge of the passports was very disrespectful to my mother. Extremely rude, customer service and extensive wait time. Even though we set an appointment a month in advance. We also asked a month in advance what the necessary documents we needed and they told us only an ID but when we get there, they said we need a birth certificate. And then they said we'd have to reschedule an appointment another month later. I was absolutely astounded, especially since I was, I was talking to the lady who is in charge of the passports. It was good and convinced branch, but at the last time it service dropped down... May be they changed own management, may be something else. But right now under covid dangerous situation they created long line ( drop of box is broken, drop off window is closed). This is a pretty good post office. When I go there (around 12:30 - 1:00) is hardly ever a line. If there is a line it moves pretty quickly. If you are there just to pick up there's usually a separate window for that (I think it's the 4th one). Parking over here sucks. 75% of the time there aren't even metered spots. read more

I get a pink pick up notice on January 27th. It says after the 28th I can pick it up. Cool. I go pick it up on the 29th. They can't find it. Why in the hell can't you find it ? If you get something in the mail that says "Hey. Your package is going to be here for pickup" you expect it to be there 10 times out of 10. They do little to no work locating anything lost in there. The supervisor gave me a contact number that doesn't work. At all. That thing will ring until the end of time. Nobody will answer it. Then now I get a notification that it's being sent back to the sender. You have 30 days to claim it before that happens. These people need to pick it up and stop the foolishness. Clerks. Couriers. These employees need to go back to their customer service/relations refresher course. I'm instructed by the teller in the first window to wait behind another window, outside of the main line. Waiting behind another customer. Finally, it was my turn. My words to the teller was, politely: Me: "Hi, I'm wondering if you can help me. I've been to the Cadman Plaza Office to get this sorted out and they told me to come here. I received a pink slip saying my package is at my local station. But I did a redelivery online and I have my confirmation codes here. It's been over a week." Female Teller: "So you had a pink slip. This is the wrong window, you need his window for pick-up." "Hey, [Male Teller], here's another pink slip with a story!" Male Teller: (Chuckles) "Oh word, another one with a story?!" So, now I have another story and it goes to these workers, whom I should've told off at the post office, but was too shocked, embarrassed and hurt to say anything: I'm sorry you hate your jobs and feel it necessary to make your customers feel like they're a waste of your time. I've spent hours on the phone with the 1800 number trying to figure out why my package wasn't redelivered. If you say, it wasn't eligible for redelivery, then why do I have a confirmation number from your main site? Plus, when trying to phone this office, it rings off the hook. You need a good overhaul/turnover and start anew with workers who care. I'm honestly surprised that the United States Post Office isn't claiming bankruptcy. I think I'm happier when getting better service from UPS/Fedex and all the likes. That is my story. read more

This is the best post office in Brooklyn, period. I have gone here early in the morning, just before closing, during the christmas rush, tax deadlines and always the service has been the same. GREAT!! There is usually a long line but no worry, the lines move rather quickly since there seem to be many windows open. Once you are at your window, they greet you with a friendly smile or a good morning or a good afternoon. At first , I thought I was at the wrong place, not being used to having such delightful service.at a civil service operation. Maybe I'm in postal heaven because, there is even a magnificient mural of the Brooklyn Dodgers on the wall. Also there is a concierge at the line that will guide you to the right area or help you with your package. If you have a pre-paid package, he will point you to the other wing where you can just drop it in the metal box! Or he can just take it there for you. If your package is opened, he will give you the official tape to seal it up. If you need a box, he will go to the basement and get if for you! The current guide's name is Vito (& he's not even Italian! ) but all previous guides at this particular location has always been helpful and knowledable. Once you are at one of many opened windows, you will have a great transaction with one of the happiest postal employees that you will ever meet. Imagine that. These guys give "going postal!" a bad name. They seem to really enjoy their jobs. Also I noticed that there is very little turn over at this branch. Some of the employees (behind the window anyway ) seemed to have been here for years and years. So if you want a good experience or if you have a package to drop off in a hurry, come to this location. They really know how to treat a customer. & also having a McDonalds next door doesn't hurt either. You can park your car, buy a cup of coffee and then drop off them presents. Maybe I just had bad luck, but just when I got to the front of the line, they opened another window. The workers here are friendly, an typo can tell they like their job. I just needed to send an official letter, that I needed to make sure it will be delivered. 25 minutes waiting, for 3 minutes service. Nice people, slow service. read more

Been a resident in 11234 for over 50 years and a business owner for over 30. We had the best mailman for the past couple of years - Sadeek. He was always pleasant and greeted you with a smile. We just learned that the Ryder Station changed everyone's routes. That is terrible. Why? Why create such a mess at the busiest time of the year? Someone wasn't thinking straight. Our mail service has been terrible this week. One day there was no delivery. The rest of the time we are getting mail that doesn't belong to us and we have to send it back or deliver it ourselves. This Office does not pick up their branch telephone when you call. It just rings and then sounds like a fax machine. Your packages will be out for delivery and never get delivered and then they expect you to pick it up. Who wants to wait on that line! You schedule a redelivery and they don't even attempt to redeliver it. You don't even get a slip at the door. If I didn't have informed delivery emails I wouldn't even know the delivery exists. I keep having the same problem with them over and over again. USPS service in general s horrible these days. I keep getting other peoples mail almost every day! Since we lost our regular mail person the mail has been so screwed up. This month alone, I missing my bank debit card and my renewal car insurance cards. My car insurance expired 6/25/18 and I have no new cards because along with the bank debit card they are lost. I get neighbors mail all the time and some mail from other neighborhoods. I know I do the right thing and give it back to the mail person or back in the mailbox. Obviously, some people are not doing that and are keeping it or throwing it out. One problem after another. Lost packages more, rude people and always a mess. I have never been into a post office this disorganized. There is one nice fellow there- I'm not sure his name but he was nice. I sent a regular letter and the recipient never received it. Why? Because it came back to me in the mail with a "Address Not Deliverable" sticker on it. Fist off, the address is correct and second, I got it back a month later. I moved around here in 2012, since then I have lost mail, mail has been delivered weeks late, if at all, I get mail once in a while, if at all. We used to have a lovely mailman, but he left, likely because he has a brain in his head and doesn't want to deal with delivering to a million apartments in our little housing complex here. New mailwoman is TERRIBLE. She delivers in the evening. Can you imagine? We all come home 6ish so we have to go down again to get the mail. She leaves people's PERSONAL stuff that she can't be BOTHERED to deliver to them outside the mailboxes for all to see. I have seen a jury duty notice, a letter of eviction, among other private info just left out there. There were packages left out there -- likely gifts -- that are not there now. Maybe they got to the right person, maybe someone stole them. Mail has gone missing -- my father did not receive an important document he was waiting for. I complained to this post office and got a temporary subbing for the day manager who embarrassed me in front of everyone for even asking about this mailwoman, but also promised me she'd take care of it. Oh, would I be home to receive her call so she could tell me the results of the "investigation?" Yeah, I was home. Didn't hear from her though. Big freaking shock. The tellers are okay but one of them was talking for what felt like hours with someone and we are all waiting on line, like "Chick, is you for real? Wasting time like this?" This post office consistently is not delivering my mail to my home. My niece sent a letter which was stamped August 16, and today September 8 it was returned to her with a stamp on the letter stating there was no such address. I have lived at my home for almost 50 years and this problem continues. I am not getting my mail and the postman states there is a problem with the sorter machine in this post office. Meanwhile much of my mail is either being sent back to the senders with stamps stating"no such address" or to other places. read more

I have had 3 packages in the last few months marked as "delivered" when they never were. I was home all day on the days they were supposedly "delivered." Don't bother calling or even going to the postal inspectors, because they will basically tell you to go pound sand. Since there is no signature required for delivery, postal employees can mark packages as delivered and keep whatever they feel like keeping, without repercussions basically. Luckily Amazon has great customer service and I get my money refunded. Don't ship anything with the USPS, they will steal your stuff and tell you to take a flying leap. read more

If you want to mail a stamped envelope - fine. Otherwise don't go here. The manager is as ignorant as the workers. They would not take an envelope with a card inside as first class mail but insisted it is a "parcel" and we have to pay more. Apparently, they do not know what the non-machinable category is, and that if the envelope is a #10 envelope less than 1/8 inch thick , it is NOT a parcel. So after walking a mile to the post office (our location has been closed the past week due to computer breakdown!), an hour wait and arguing with these obstinate, incompetents I was turned back.
