This location was responsible for the easiest and best postal visit I've had to date. I needed to ship some gifts to my mother and mother-in-law for birthdays and they saved my bacon. They have a cheaper alternative to the flat rate boxes that now come with tape on the box so you don't have to spend money on a roll for one shipment. In all seriousness the feeling and was that made my trip was like opening a present from Santa in 3rd grade on Christmas Day! In the current difficult times we are all experiencing that was something that made my day so much easier. I'm terrible with names and the important thing was the woman behind the counter was super helpful and friendly. People like her are the exact reason I have missed living in a small town. Restored my faith in retail workers and humanity knowing they do care and hope they see this glowing review. I cannot be more happy with today's interaction. I look forward to using their services again soon. Way cheaper than UPS. read more

Delivery drivers refuse to do their jobs and deliver packages. I will no longer be shipping to my primary address because the drivers won't take any of my packages inside to the apartment staff. They just leave slips until I go to the post office to pick up. The absolute worst drivers i have ever experienced. The only time I have gotten my packages on time without having to go to the post office I staked them out and waited for the driver to show up to my mail boxes. I have lived in the same house in Box Elder,SD for over twenty years. I never had a problem with my mail carrier UNTIL LAST YEAR. Now they dont pick up my mail even when my flag is up. Sometimes it can sit there for three days and they wont take it. I called to ask why and let the office know about my problems and she said oh if she doesn't have mail to deliver then she doesn't stop. BUT on top of that when she does have mail to deliver she she didn't pick up my mail she shoved it to the back and put my new mail on top of my outgoing mail. It continues to happen. This PO sucks if you want General Delivery service do not bother. The postal clerk informs you that you cannot use the street address because it goes to the postmaster. If you follow there instructions and have your package sent to the post office without a street address it will not be delivered and you will have to have it sent somewhere else. So what does general delivery mean if you cannot use it. This post office is useless. read more

Rude condescending clerk,very apathetic " post master". Clerk told me it is a hole in the wall post office and that no one wants to work there,said the new post master is untrained and they are training him as they go,that USPS had to beg him to work at the Box Elder Post office. I believe her even though this was very unprofessional to say in the lobby to a customer with other customers present. Packages do not get scanned when they are supposed to.Had had to report them to higher authorities. I will now drive to Rapid City rather than deal with this "hole in the wall" ( as the clerk put it) post office. read more

Always one person working and long waits. I missed delivery of a letter, so i scheduled a redelivery for the next day. Waited all morning and day and they never came. So i had to wait till monday to go pick it up myself. Finally got the letter, then they told me i "missed my redelivery on saturday" and I told them they never even came and I waited for it. She was very rude about it, got charged .30 cents, just for a damn card. read more

I've lived here two years and it's the same story every time I visit. One lady in particular is downright rude and condescending. I'd bet it's the same "lady" everyone else has complained about. She assumes every customer she deals with is completely ignorant and has no clue what they're talking about. Went in today because I requested our mail start being forwarded tomorrow, but we haven't received any in the last week and I received a notification that an important package was "undeliverable." Instead of listening to me explain my situation, she immediately jumped to conclusions and tried to correct me on my understanding of how it all works, based on false assumptions (and you know what they say about assuming). I told her I've moved 8 tines in the last 15 years, I know how it works. After giving her the stare down she finally decided maybe it wouldn't kill her to go looking for my mail. This is one of maybe twenty interactions I've had with her in the last two years, and they've all been pretty much the same. I've seen nothing but complaints on the base fb pages as well, mostly about her. She needs to be fired, but I wouldn't expect anything actually proactive to be done by the usps. I have lived in the Box Elder area for over 20 years and never have I seen such an inept Post Master. This woman knows nothing, does nothing, never helps her clerks, never greats people in a friendly manner, belittles her employees and walks around like she's at a funeral. When the clerks are busy serving their customers she waltzes out and starts engaging them with idle chit chat while customers are standing in line, waiting their turn. She never helps out, and so there we stand in line while the clerks work hard to get everyone through, but that woman never lifts a finger. This woman needs to go, she is a disgrace to the postal service. If she were my employee, she would have been fired long ago. Thank goodness for the other employees, the women at the counter are wonderful, friendly, bubbly, helpful, knowledgeable, efficient. Maybe the postal service should make one of them the post master because the one in charge now is just not cutting it. I admire them for working under such an awful person in charge. read more
