Let me set the stage for the madness I found myself ensnared in involving USPS. I've ordered from overseas vendors a handful of times, and each time, despite my best efforts to plan ahead, there almost always seems to be some kind of hiccup. In this instance, I ordered a gift for my lady from Europe at least a month before her birthday. Everything was coordinated appropriately, until I found out that there are areas in the San Bernardino Mountains that do not receive USPS delivery. Unfortunately, the company I ordered from chose not to use FedEx or UPS, and instead went with USPS. So after a month of waiting, my order arrived in the mountains, and was promptly shipped back to the UK. This might have been less stressful had the vendor been a bit more communicative... they weren't. After weeks of trying to reach them (attempting to coordinate resending the item to a different address across an 8-hour time difference), they finally responded, only to inform me that they had resent the package to the same address, much to my chagrin. And herein lies the rub. They sent that message about a week after the package had already arrived in the U.S.; it had already passed through customs in New York. So my job became figuring out how to coordinate with USPS to pick it up. Now, had most USPS locations actually answered their phones (I'm looking at you, USPS in Bell Gardens), that alone could have solved all my issues. I watched the package move from location to location, making its way up to Big Bear, and then it happened. As expected from the first attempt, I was notified that the address was undeliverable and the package was marked "return to sender." Thank God for Greg, the first competent USPS employee I spoke to since this whole ordeal began! He was extremely patient, kind, and understanding. By sheer luck (or grace), there had been a delay in processing returned packages, so they were able to locate mine fairly easily. Picking it up was seamless. Sam, the associate there, was friendly and laid-back, and handed me my package that had traveled between two countries twice. In my experience, the care, quality, and attention you receive from USPS can vary dramatically from branch to branch. This location stands out as one that truly delivers those sought-after values. This USPS is unprofessional, doesn't care, and loses all my packages and important mail. Whether it's from Amazon or from my father, my packages or other important mail is lost every single time. They won't look at your phone for a receipt and say that it is not trustworthy. Shoot, I haven't even had other peoples mail address to another PO Box in mine. It is a complete joke that a government facility is ran like this. They offer no help or service to our community. read more

Wow, FINALLY some helpful support from them! I forgot the guy's name (Glasses, bit of scruff, grey-ish hair) but he managed to get me going from feeling frustrated to resolving the situation, even finding the package that was about to be sent back and grabbed it before it was. Even helped me set it up so that if a package is sent to my house instead of my PO Box they'll send it anyway Real good sport about all of it, the fact he managed to defuse me when I was as frustrated as I was felt nice too. The POST MASTER said, "We don't have time to look for your package and it's going to be sent back to the sender because you don't get street service ". I then asked him if my package was here NOW? He said, " Yes it was but there are 3000 packages that we would have to go thru and we don't have time to do that when we have mail to deliver to those who have street service, so your package is being returned to the sender." I asked again to have someone look for the package as I have the tracking number and it just arrived at this post office hours ago. The POST MASTER refused to help me. True he was polite and not argumentative but he didn't care to help me. I asked for his bosses info and he gave me a phone number 800-275-8777. I called and long story short the outgoing voicemail said if someone answers the phone it would be an hours long wait. Not sure why I can't get my package. But this is ridiculous. I have had nothing but problems and missing mail with this office after perfect service the other 55 years of my life. They do not deliver to my neighborhood so I have to drive down there for everything. if I don't go at least once every two weeks they send back my stuff. Ordered two magazine subscriptions and of twenty for issues I received one once. They sent back five consecutive mailed paychecks when I had general delivery. I found my PO Box lock was changed yesterday because I failed to defend my right to have an address that everyone else gets without question. I just wish they would deliver to my house instead of sending stuff back, and causing me to drive miles to get my packages that everybody else gets right to their door, and I certainly don't want to have to argue with them for a postal box miles from my house every single year just because they do not deliver to my area. I used to love and respect the entire system but these guys have really left me disallusioned. read more

I have a P.o. box at this location and for some reason they always say that my packages are there being held. Every time I go in and ask for help the two older gentlemen are very rude. One of them basically called me stupid and just wanted me out of there and the other one refused to look at my phone which would've been easy on both of us but he kept interrupting me when i was reading my tracking code saying "IM NOT GONNA LOOK AT A CUSTOMERS PHONE". i don't know if it is because of my ethnicity or what but i HATE them here. i shouldn't be scared to enter my post office. read more

Not only did she go out of her way to explain the PO Box process to my mom who is a new PO Box user she was friendly, overly helpful and made our day overall better. Absolutely horrendous service. My package is being held here because they failed to forward it to the proper post office. Went in to try to pick it up and they assured me that it was not there but at my local post office. Went back to my local one, and the guy there (who's actually good at his job and listens to people, unlike everyone at this post office) told me that all incoming packages had been sorted and my package was definitely at the Big Bear post office as the tracking suggested. Came back here to try to get my package again, and Guy interrupted me before I'd even finished explaining, telling me that there is absolutely no way my package was there, and that the person at my local post office must have been lying. Tracking says my package is here, USPS customer service says my package is here, my local post office says my package is here, yet they refuse to even check. Before I'm even done talking, Guy interrupts me again to call the next person in line up. Just unbelievably rude, dismissive, atrocious customer service. read more

Totally inept people work here. Amazon delivery sent there but unless it has general delivery included in our address they are returning it. Why on earth does the post office hire people who couldn't care less about their customers. No wonder they are in fear of going bankrupt!!!!!! This is the worst post office ever. I have a horrible experience every single time I go in. All the workers are rude and don't care about you or your mail and they lose literally everything. They are now making people form a line outside that wraps around half the building to pick up packages. I waited in this line for two and a half hours this morning just to get to the front for them to tell me that my packages are missing when they have said delivered 4 days ago and I need to just go on Amazon and get a refund ??????? Big Bear City post office opened today 12-28-2020 and refused to give out packages "in the container". It was just prescription glasses. Why it is in the container I would not know. And why they could not provide their regular services, I would not know. It has been a fiasco in Big Bear with all the deliveries being contracted to the post office. They loose packages. Also they scan packages when they are ready for pickup but they do not deliver to your box till the next day even though your tracking says available for pickup. This has happened to me 4 times so far in two weeks. Their attitudes aren't the best and their office phone just keeps ringing and ringing with no pickup ever. Worst customer service and organizational skills I have ever seen. Sad to see such a poor attempt at helping a small community. The employees park in front with limited parking for the customers. They do not answer the phone. They lose the yellow slips, put them in the wrong boxes, or put them in with no package to be picked up at all. They now have you wait outside for packages, but sometimes they are open and sometimes they are not. You have to go two or three times a day to see if you can get your packages, or not. The lines are stupid ! During lunch hour they have one employee at the front desk with the lines out the door. They are all grumpy, rightfully so because they get yelled at by people who just want their mail and packages. How can it be such a mess. Amazon just started delivering with their trucks up here, so how were us customers supposed to know that? Is it even legal for them to run this racket? I would like to give zero stars, something seriously needs to be done about this post office , I mean something on the federal level. This place continues to refuse delivery of my mail, I believe this is a federal offense or a federal crime. The mail carrier refuses to put the mail in our mailbox, we've had very important documents such as DMV paperwork, court paperwork all returned marked undeliverable because she refuses to deliver our mail. I believe the post office needs to start by firing all its current employees and hire people that actually want and need to work. We have gone in person and made countless complaints and we have called and made several complaints to the post master and we get nowhere it's actually like talking to a brick wall. read more

This Post office is slow and unreliable. They've lost several packages of mine and then told me that they were delivered and then refused to search the tracking number. Your best bet is to use the one in Big Bear lake or the off shoot in the interlaken center if possible. read more

I am extremely frustrated with this local post office. To begin with every time I go there they're employees are so rude and not friendly at all. When you walking to the post office it seems like they're really annoyed with you for even being there. Yesterday My package was supposed to be put in my PO Box as the tracking information explained it via Amazon prime. I checked the PO Box and my package was not in there so I went to the post office this morning and they employee who works there told me that my postal carrier had put it in my box. When I told him that it was not in my box he. Pretty much told me that the only way for me to figure out where my package is is to hang out at my PO Box, which is nowhere near my home and wait to talk to the employee who supposedly put it in my box. I asked him if there's anyway I can contact her, maybe via cell phone and ask her about the package and he said no if you want to know where your packages you need to somehow meet up with your delivery person at your PO Box. This is beyond ridiculous. I don't have time to just hang out at my PO Box all day and wait for the postal carrier to show up when she has once again given a package of ours to the wrong individual. This is not the only example of troubles I have had with the big bear city post office. We get about 15 packages a week via Amazon prime and now that they've switched to USPS, the local USPS is extremely overwhelmed by the extra work. I understand this but it's very frustrating when they are constantly putting notices in my box saying that my package is at the post office and then I go to the post office and my package is not actually there. This is usually after waiting in line for at least 15 to 20 minutes because the post office is so overwhelmed. It's extremely frustrating and this literally happens to me 2 to 3 times a week. If you happen to be in the big bear area I would definitely recommend going to any other post office but the big bear city one. I have never been at a post office before where the employees are so exceptionally rude and inapt at their job. read more

The post office located in Big Bear City, California, used to be great until a certain employee started working there. I'm not going to name anyone, but that certain employee always seems in a bad mood. I had ordered a package, and was told that they dropped it off at this location, but when I went to ask for the package, this employee told me that they didn't have it. Upon further asking him why it wasn't there, he later confirmed that anything they receive from UPS they ship right it back where it came from. Unfortunately, my package arrived on a Friday at later hours when the post office was closed, so I had to wait the entire weekend to hopefully pick up my package. All this time wasted just so that this employee tells me they don't have it. Can't you guys just hold a package for a couple of days? What's the reason why you send UPS packages right back?
