My sister and I just shipped off a package here and the women who work at this post office are so lovely and kind, they made our day!!

Unbelievable. I work for a local business so, naturally, we have bills to pay. I've had issues with our postal service for quite some time, but never have I had any just cause to get on Yelp to post negatively about the Postal service. I mean, come on...it's the postal service. That said, I was paying our aforementioned bills this week, and placed about 15 envelopes, stuffed with checks and invoices into our mailbox on Tuesday (after the mail carrier had already come), and raised the flag to indicate there was outgoing mail, ready for pick-up. Pretty basic stuff here. Wednesday goes by, and no mail delivered, nor picked up. Thursday goes by....nothing. This morning, Friday January 23, 2015, I decided to call the post office to see if I could get an answer as to why our box has been unvisited for two straight days. The line is busy. I try several times over the course of 10 minutes, or so. Busy. So I call the 1-800 Customer (no) Service line, where after 16 minutes on hold (my phone has a timer), I get to speak with Denise. The conversation starts off well enough, she is sympathetic to my situation, and assures me that she is sending a message stating my situation and concerns to my local post master, or supervisor. I ask her for the name of the local post master or supervisor, and she says she doesn't have that information. I doubt that, but okay. I ask her, "So what's my recourse if today rolls on by and my mail is again left behind?" She says, "Well you should be hearing from someone in the next couple of days." Seriously? Did I mention that I have checks waiting to go out for our many bills? Oh, I did? Well, I failed to mention that it's been RAINING for the past three days, and all of the post that's been awaiting pick-up since Tuesday is soaking wet! By the way, I have been calm and collected during my entire conversation with Denise, though audibly agitated. And guess what. SHE starts losing her patience with ME! She didn't raise her voice or anything, but her tone changed, perceptively. SO, not wanting to wait "a couple of days" to see if I do indeed hear from "someone" or to see if anyone bothers to come get my mail, I decide to try the local post office again...and it rings this time. A man named Andres picks up the phone, and I ask to speak with the Post Master, or a supervisor, and Andres informs me that he is a supervisor. I lay out all of the details of my plight with him, and, at first, he is noticeably concerned. He tells me, in an eager tone, that he needs to try to catch our particular mail carrier before he/she leaves for the day, which was about to happen. I asked if he would please contact me, once he gets the low down, and he agrees. He called me back within 5 minutes, stating that he did, indeed, talk with our mail carrier, and he/she said simply that there had not been any mail to deliver, so he/she didn't even bother checking our box for any outgoing mail. In fact, Andres stated that this was standard practice. I said, "Well that's unacceptable. My mail has been sitting in that box, and it's now soaking wet." He said, "Well, that's our policy, okay?" I said, "NO! That is not okay, our mail needs to be checked EVERY DAY, regardless of whether we have any post coming to us, or not." Meekly, he replied, "Ok, we will check it every day." This has to be the single worst USPS office. I usually receive mail for houses two streets away that usually do have the same street number but still it's on a completely different street. On the flip side I feel lucky if I actually receive my own mail. I've reported four Netflix movies lost in the last six months alone, not to mention the number of bills that have never arrived. Walking into the actual office is even worse. As previous reviewers have stated you are lucky if there are any supplies or people working the counter. For that matter you should consider yourself lucky if the postage machine is actually working. read more

Very rude employee. When I said I had a question about international shipping, he said, "Oh my God, you don't have the Internet?" Wow. I did try to find the information I needed online before heading to the post office, but I needed more information than what the USPS website gave me. I just left. Couldn't believe it. read more

This post office should be your absolute LAST resort. The staff is angry and frustrated and very rude. The service is incredibly HORRID. There's another Post office off of Manchaca in South Austin that has incredible service, go to that one before stepping foot in this facility. its truly the worst service ever. read more

This location is awful!!! The reps are miserable and the wait is uncalled for. I've witnessed other customers as well as myself ask the customer service reps questions with no reply. The reps just ignore you... when your right in front of them! For example they told a customer their packaging was wrong...ok what is wrong...they don't answer and say it needs to be fixed. Ok but what is wrong with the packaging? Then they asked the customer to step aside to fix it. Uh! Hello? What needs to be fixed was never answered. Then another co-worker tells rep that the packaging was ok so the rep just grabbed the package and threw it in the bin without even apologizing to the customer for being rude and not answering their question. I go to other locations when I can but when it's work related this is the closest. This location is one of the crunchiest locations I go to, which is very shocking with it being in Westlake. read more

I love this post-office, and here's why: the 24 machine that allows you to do it all. I avoid the crowds and sneak over after the kids are bed and doing my mailing with the machine. It handles most packages and stamps. It is polite, fast and accurate. Perfect! read more

Good location, service is slow like most post offices. I'd recommend and go during the non- busy times, before lunch.

Small, dirty and at most times only one clerk to handle all customers. Clerks are disinterested and sometimes downright surly. Go elsewhere for a po box. This station has just been a nightmare for something as simple as a PO Box. For example: Husband and I have different last names...and this office would not recognize mail (in my name) for SIX months. The last straw...I went to retrieve our mail (7/17)...and discovered the po box...closed. The clerk checked only to discover that the box is paid up until September. Her explanation...an error! No apology...no explanation as to what happened to any mail delivered...the people are idiots here. read more

USPS in general has incredibly terrible customer service! Probably because they are horribly under staffed! A 40-50 wait for an agent if you call them. But 1st thing the horrible VRS asks is if you want to participate in a survey after your call?! Wait a joke. This Westlake PO is way understaffed so if you just have a question or want to tell them their mailbox in the parking lot is jammed because someone put too large a package in it- good luck. Ive been to plenty of post offices around town in the 16 years I've lived in and around Austin. This Westlake location is by far, the worst EVER! Not that I have high expectations of USPS locations either. Ive been here plenty of times hoping things have improve but they don't. These people are always taking breaks at peak times which doesn't make sense to me. There will be a long line and one person working the counter and two or 3 people in the back and or taking breaks. I just laugh! I always expect to wait at least 20 -40 minutes. Two ladies in particular are always a bit rude and act like they HATE being there. So refreshing dealing with them each time, NOT! Recently, I started going to other places in the area to mail things off like Kinko's or West Lake Mail. They are nicer, faster and your things will get there guaranteed. read more

They cant manage to open on time. Its 9:30 and this federal agency's hours are 9am-5pm. Many people are waiting. I came to track down my overnight local package that was to be delivered to '04. Its missing in 78710 which is clear across town- nowhere near its destination 4 days later. I now have to spend my precious time waiting on them, tracking down my package- and canceling and reissuing an important payment. Just choose another post office no matter how "convenient" this one may be for you. read more

Quite possibly the worst post office in the Austin area. The people that work here are awful and would rather adjust their hair and music than do work in a pleasant manner. On the other hand, Oak Hill (old Fredricksburg Rd) is excellent. read more

They don't answer the phone when you call them . The people working there are negligent -- they didn't check that the international parcel that I was sending needed my signature before accepting it for shipment. It is a pity that we see this level of poor customer service from USPS which otherwise has a remarkable performance and timeliness !! read more

I try to be patient with post office employees as I know they are understaffed, but the people here are SO rude. They act like we are supposed to know everything and shouldn't ask any questions. I hate coming in here. I always choose Fed Ex, if possible. read more

This post office is where my mail is processed from. It seems to be 50/50 if my mail will make it to my house once it hits this post office. Talking to the employees here they know they are in a gov. job that they cannot be fired from and act like it. read more

This USPS blows. They do NOT attempt to deliver certified mail to my address and they do NOT leave me a notice that certified mail is waiting for me. This has happened almost a dozen times in the last two months. Thankfully I've caught it twice now, but the other 10 plus times, the certified mail was returned to the sender...which is annoying, since they were payments/checks for services. I no longer use USPS and have been instructing all my clients to avoid them at all costs. USPS...a league of morons. read more

Don't bother with this Post Office. It is scheduled to be closed any way. Head across Bee Caves Rd to the Randall's Shopping Center tenant, Mail Center USA. It has been quietly and efficiently handling US Mail, FedEx, UPS, DHL etc for 20+ yrs. The folks there are locals and are always helpful to me. read more

This Post Office does not get even one star. My IRS payment was due June 5,2013. It was stamped by the employee at the Westlake Post Office, I paid her, and she mailed it on May 30,2013. It was back in my mailbox this morning, June 11, 2013 with an insufficient fund sticker that said I did not have enough postage!!!!!!!!! She has almost ruined my IRS payment program. I am going to the IRS Office today to rectify this problem created by a hateful woman who seems to have a power issue and uses her employment to ruin peoples lives. read more

I am 67 years old and have lived in 11 cities and I have never encountered problems with a post office like this location. I've lived in my house 8 years and still get mail for the previous owner, and some who owned it before the previous owner. I've had packages from Europe returned because a hous with the same number as mine, on a cross street was vacant. I've had local mail returned as "undeliverable as addressed". I've talked to at least two managers of the P.O. and the problem still exists. Everyone in our neighborhood has the same sloppy service. Why can't this problem be fixed? Other reviews here are an indication: My P.O. Box was discovered OPEN today, lock in locked position, door wide open, no mail in box. I have (I'm guessing) the only key, but someone has unlocked by mail box, opened it, left it open and apparently removed any mail. Report has been filed w/ Postal Inspector. read more

The worst post office. My work sent a letter local its been over 2 wks and still have not received letter.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!!!!! After realizing on my bank statement that I had been TRIPLE charged for my Christmas shipment to my family I called the number on the receipt. They transferred me to three different departments before someone finally told me they couldn't help me and that I needed to call the location directly and gave me the number. I call and the phone rings and rings and rings some more. This continues for about a half hour of me calling every so often. Finally, I call and all I get is a busy signal. WONDERFUL! My guess is they got tired of it ringing and just took the phone off the hook. I now have to actually go and wait in line............I'm thrilled :( As most of these other posts have stated i show up to an AWESOME line of at least 10people ahead of me one being an screaming kid...........YEA ME! I wait in line as patiently as possible and get to the front and share with the lady what my issue is, her response "Let me go talk to my manager and see I can get the NUMBER of who you need to call because we don't handle this" OH JOY!!....................... I can hear her speaking to another woman in the back and hear her say "No she's wrong we don't double charge." Things are really look up for me now. The other lady calls me down to another computer and says "We don't double charge." I show her my receipt, the section of my bank statement with the THREE charges and I say "yes I have been triple charged." She goes on to tell me how I would have three receipts if I was tripled charged, I'm wrong and they don't do refunds all the while pulling out a PAPER HISTORY of the transactions that happened that day. ............................ 1. Who still refers to transactions by paper and doesn't have an electronic database of this stuff?!!? We are in 2013 right??!?!? 2. Customer Service 101 at least acknowledge the CUSTOMERS issue. Typically, conversations like that start with "Hi *smile* ok so you've been tripled charged let me see what's going on." 4. EVER HEARD THE CUSTOMER IS NEVER WRONG?!?!? 3. You're request for my entire bank statement...............seriously woman are you on CRACK! Would you like my routing number and social while you're at it? She continued talking down to me making it seem like i didn't understand the number 3 and going as far as to hold up three fingers in my face to apparently help me understand that if that had happened i would have received 3 receipts. (Doesn't she think that if i had originally received 3 receipts i would have questioned it at that time?) Showing her my bank statement with the CLEAR 3 transactions and transaction numbers didn't seem to be sufficient for her. She finally tells me my bank is at fault. So i ask ok so I need to talk to my bank and she tells me I'm not telling you what to do I'm just telling you we didn't over-charge you. WTF WOMAN!!! You're not helping me!!!! So i ask point blank can you help me? Can you refund this and she says no and walks away from me! All she had to do was tell me that their "system" didn't show three transactions and I probably needed to talk to my bank." WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!! I don't care how close they are I will never go there again. read more

This post office does not know what is going on and has a mind of it's own. I am at the point that I feel like taking matters to finding out how to file a civil complaint and possibly sue the post office for mail tampering! Other than the fact that this post office delivers "snail mail" that takes longer than any other post offices in the Austin area, but the attendents have no idea what is going on most of the time and picks and chooses which mail to send and which mail to send back! I can't wait to move and have this issue resolved, until then how the hell can I get it through the thick skulls working there that they should never send any of my mail back!!!!!! read more

The worst post office I have been to in my life. They need to fire these people they are rude and in these times where so many people are looking for jobs how can the employees have this type of behavior. The manager(if there is one) should be canned and all employees let go...I really hope someone can step in and make the situation better. Just had my second package disappear from the drop shoot at this location. We print postage online but unless package is scanned in which is not possible at night then package never gets registered then it's your word against theirs. Beware of dropping anything at this location I suspect a thief!! read more

Wow...they are wildly understaffed! They only have one person working with a line out the door. Every time I come in there it feels like I'm in a third world country. I do not say this to be intentionally rude but I believe it is the unfortunate reality of a government run business. All politics aside there's no arguing that FedEx is more efficient than the United States Postal Service. This is exemplified at this location. read more
