I surprisingly don't visit post offices that much. Once and a while, here and there, I'll stop by for a book of stamps or the occasional encounter to send a letter out of the country to friends living overseas. This was my first visit to this location. . . what occasion caused me to drive out to Barrington for use of this facility you may ask? Well remember those friends I send letters to? Yep. . . I'm thinking about going to visit them. Being passport-less, I found that this was one of the closest "accepting facilities" for my first-time application. Passport application acceptance times are from 9am - 12 pm and 2pm -4pm. Using my GPS, I found this quaint and quiet post office branch. I appreciated their large parking lot and joined the 2 other cars I found during the middle of the day (at least one of which I assume belonged to the employee behind the desk). Happy that my plan worked to hit this location during non-peak hours, I strolled in and was surrounded by the familiar surroundings that come with any post office. As I rounded the corner to approach the main desk, I noticed a sign advertising passport photo-taking capabilities (take note of this.) Before I even came close to the desk, the employee noticed I was holding a passport application. "Do you have an ID?" ::nod:: "Birth certificate?" ::nod:: "Passport photos?" ::nod:: "Okay, in that case c'mon over." This left me with a somewhat sour taste in my mouth. Please don't act like I can't even approach your desk unless I have all the proper paperwork. At least let me sort through my things at your counter. We went through the process item by item. Unfortunately, as each item came up, this particular employee had something to say. . . . *While looking at my application: Oh, your a nurse! You look too young to be a nurse. . . how long did you go to school for that. Wow, 4 years! You really look too young. (Okay, I thought, they're just trying to be friendly.) *While taking my birth certificate: Oh, we can't take this. (Even though the website said I could use any copy as long as it has the embossed seal on it, like this one? I replied) Oh. . . okay, yea we can use this. *While looking at my passport photos: Where did you get these done? (CVS, I said) You look kinda yellow in these, I don't know if they are gonna take these. Are you sure you want to use these? We could do them over here. (Here's where your taking note fits in. . . was she really trying to make me spend more money than I already was? If the photo is rejected I'll be going back to CVS to make them retake what I already paid for thank you very much. . . this I kept to myself.) Okay. . . we'll include them but don't be surprised if you get something in the mail saying you need new photos. Perturbed that the whole process, while timely, was a session of me defending everything I took the time and care to put together, I walked out vowing I would find another location if I ever had to do this again. As a side note: I just received my passport in the mail. . . No issues. They accepted everything just as I had put it together. read more

Stacie D has a serious attitude problem, was extremely rude and condescending to my mother and I when we were doing passports. Have attitude when we asked questions. Terrible! I wish the riverside branch did passports so we didn't have to come here! Won't be back, and my moms a resident of Barrington and even she won't be back and would rather travel elsewhere! This Post Office reminds me of the "two faced" episode of Seinfeld when Jerry dated a woman named Gwen, who was either very pretty or ugly depending on the lighting. In the case of this Post Office location, your experience is 5 stars or 1 star, depending on who helps you at the counter. Some of the staff are extremely nice and helpful, everything you could want or expect from your neighborhood post office, but there is one woman who is basically the concept of "going postal" personified. She is so rude to every person she interacts with every time I visit. She is the bah humbug to your Merry Christmas. Without this one particular postal employee, this location would easily be 5 stars - it's small and the service is generally pretty fast and friendly. But with two counters typically open you have a 50-50 chance of having the best or worst shipping experience, depending on who is on duty. read more

I've used this post office about 10 times so far having just moved to the area and I love it. I've lived all over the country and even though it's small I find it efficient & friendly and well stocked for everything I've needed. It's not as self serve and modern as the new ones in larger cities but it reflects the small sweet town feel of the area. I think if you want big and modern there are ones closer to Providence but for local needs it's great and always been efficient & friendly. read more

I used to live in Barrington and have been gone for five years. I always appreciated the local post office. I lived in my home for twelve years and knew my postal carrier by first name. I remember picking up Christmas gifts and all the postal employees were quite happy and cheerful. I am very thankful that I got to be apart of that. Unfortunately I know the postal employee everyone is speaking about so negatively. I agree she is a very controlling person. She tends to have a very high opinion of herself and thinks she is just the best thing that ever happened to this post office. She should be removed but she will hide behind her Union. I think this is an example of certain people playing victim all their lives and not taking full advantage of the gracious opportunities that they have been given at us the taxpayers expense period. read more
