We went for New Year's Eve dinner. It was local for me. I had seen a lot of people saying it was a food date night location. Was not sure what to expect. Made reservation online. Place is small and cozy. Menu is not large but had great options. Artichoke dip was amazing. Wine was great. I had fish with almonds and it was fabulous. Noodles are made fresh. Price point was perfect. Best parts, they had gluten free pita bread for husband! He normally always had to have veggies with dip. Definitely was a happy man. They subbed his Au gratin potatoes for mashed. I was not in impressed with the service as dinner went on. Be prepared for a slow meal, but what I mean is our dinner was at 730 and we went till 930, which was fine but after dinner we asked about dessert and the waitress was very... tired? Put out and said "i am sure i can dig some bread pudding up still" Mmmmm, no thanks. We went someplace else for dessert. Maybe it was just due to new year crowd through the day? I'll go back. We absolutely love urban decanter. The service is always excellent. The staff truly seem to love what they do. The food is lovely. The beet salad is a must, we also really love their Caesar salad. When they have oysters they're excellent too. Highly recommend this hidden gem. read more

We had an amazing dinner here on Friday night. It started with the Buratta appetizer with focaccia and it was absolutely fabulous. Just the right amount of olive oil, balsamic and fig jam to accompany the melt-in-your-mouth Buratta. We followed that by Mac/Cheese with chicken and the arugula/pear salad with a side of meatballs. The service was great. It seemed a bit slow but that could be attributed to our stating we weren't in a hurry. The restaurant is adorable, woman owned, with a lot of lovely design features. The prices were excellent in most cases- this is a Portland-type restaurant 30 miles from Portland so the prices reflect that distance. The bottles of wine, as an example, were quite affordable. The food was mostly excellent- real Caesar dressing on the salad, the burrata was to die for. They have an amazing wood oven. The one negative for me was my entree. My husband had the steak which he said was excellent. I had the scallops which was a mistake. The entree was appetizer-sized with 6 tiny bay(not sea) scallops atop a smear of carrot purée. The purée was excellent- the scallops not so much. They were rubbery and did I mention tiny. The entire entree was approximately 4 bites. The neighboring table had some of the pasta dishes which looked substantial and tasty. We will definitely return as it is the best fine dining experience west of Beaverton. Just don't order the scallops. read more

Had 3, all winners like roasted seasonal asparagus. I started with a limoncello "cocktail" appetizer -- delicious. The chef's NY Steak special as Prix Fixe was very reasonably priced and with chimichurri, an envious meal. The Chicken Paprikash with little dumplings...delicious. Great wine selection and kudos to the server for her pairings. Dessert was a Basques cheesecake - wow, with this incredible caramelized top. Best restaurant in Forest Grove. Granted, that isn't saying much considering the competition, but still, Urban Decanter is great. It's so nice to have an option here in town for a romantic dinner or a nice lunch with friends that isn't a brewpub. I love their seasonal salads so that's what I always get. Right now they have a mushroom bruschetta that is delicious! I always love their seasonal bruschettas. Hubby is a big fan of their meatballs, and usually makes them into a meal. Most of their desserts are winners, we didn't love the recent s'mores dessert but it's gone now anyway. Service is always excellent and the staff are knowledgeable as well as friendly. We also love that they will bring takeout next door to Dauntless Winery so we can enjoy good food with our favorite wine. And they always have biscuits for our dog! Gotta love small towns. I love Urban Decanter Wine Bar & Bistro so much! It's a woman owned, independent wine bar and so much more. They moved into their new location and it's beautiful! They have a wood fired Piadina oven (you'll have to visit to learn more!). The new menus look great and priced honestly fair! The previous location was cozy, this feels elegant. The service is prompt, professional, and personable. Of course due to COVID-19 they take reservations for indoor seating with respect social distancing. Very impressed with Urban Decanter tonight. I had messaged them a few weeks ago and although I didn't find gluten-free on the website, they did answer they had it. A few things. But when we arrived, really it was the majority of the menu that can be made GF. Yay! Delicious and they even had a GF dessert. We had dinner, bottle of wine plus dessert for both of us for only $78 (not including tip) Very reasonable and a great experience. Also loved the decor, brick wall, lights and unique tables! We were in Forest Grove for a football game (EWU vs. PSU) and looking for a nice place for dinner. Urban Decanter was a very nice experience for us. We made a quick reservation and choose to sit at the bar. This was a great decision as Jill took great care of us. She was a gracious hostess and provided excellent service. Ate several items from the menu and couldn't stop talking about how great this place was. So. Dad was on the case. Wife couldn't wait to go again so we popped in just her and I.
