The sandwiches are mostly $7, while their "loose goose" sandwich (their top seller), is a steamed loose burger (has onions grilled with the meat) served loose with cheese and their sauce runs for $8. It was MUCH better than I expected it. Something that doesn't always happen when you underestimate and are pleasantly surprised. The loose goose is like a burger except on a hoagie and without a formed patty. It's warm, gooey, cheesy. The sandwiches come with a pickle plate which is basically a few pickles, banana peppers and some homemade tapenade. I got a chicken pirozhki which had pastry that was flaky and rich but not greasy, and a surprisingly hearty filling of chicken, garlic, white sauce, green onion, and tomato. If you'll forgive the somewhat crass comparison, it was like a Kirkland chicken bake, refined with delicate care into a very gourmet dish. The staff were great, a very positive experience. For counter serve, it was very slow (maybe 10 minutes from ordering to eating) but the shop is located in a little market / event venue so there was plenty to explore while we waited. The real stand out, though, is the pelmeni. Available as a dish or to take home frozen in 3 or 5 pound bags, these little beef or chicken dumplings are perfectly spiced and seasoned. I got a 3 pound bag of the beef and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Prepared as they do in the store, with some sour cream, the pelmeni are a sumptuous meal. The tangy sour cream contrasts the savory meat and accents the subtle spices.
