If I could I would give Uranus Fudge a ten star review. What started out as a fun side trip turned into the most fun I've had in a long time. I love puns, especially sophomoric jokes, and this is the place for it. The fun begins in the parking lot for being greeted warmly inside by a "Welcome to Uranus." There is hilarious merchandise everywhere. Don't forget about the fudge, which is fantastic. There is a separate building for the ice cream parlor (be sure check out the Egyptian themed bathroom). They also have a mini golf course, playground, and multiple photo opportunities. My husband and I had intended to go for half an hour and ended up staying two hours. We've driven by the signs for this idiot place on I-69 probably 100+ times and have always said "We need to stop one of these days." Well, we finally did... It's in the middle of damn nowhere and cheesier than Chick-Fila macaroni and cheese, but kitschy and as much as I hate to admit, it was kind of cool. They got us for $60 on over-priced and overrated fudge and other BS products that the "self-titled" house boss wanted, but it was an entertaining lil place right off of I-69. Would we go again? Just West of Scatterfield Rd this fun store has Fudge, ice cream, chocolate, German nuts, t-shirts, novelty gifts, beef jerky, popcorn, bulk candy and lots of other stuff. I kinda knew what to expect but I still had that "what did I just walk into?" moment. In addition to fudge, they had vintage candies, bulk taffy, and tons of quirky toys and merch. The taffy had also had flavor options that I've never seen before like POG, shaved ice, and curry coconut. The staff were above and beyond friendly and so quick with all the puns. What a fun place to visit! We saw the billboards as we were traveling down Rte 69 and decided to stop. There's a lot to shop! Fudge, taffy, t-shirts and apparel, trinkets and more! Thought there was a separate place to review Uranus Ice Cream store, and there was not, so here is the review from two days ago. The ice cream shop is located behind and to the left of the fudge store and has a bunch of photo opportunity sets. There is a large playground structure for the kiddos as well, and past that is a mini golf course, which we did not have time to explore. There were two employees working the colorfully decorated interior, and Delilah was great. *thanks to this place for offering several sugar free flavors, as my husband was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes several months ago. A fun little stop off the highway. They obviously really play up their name and all the jokes that can be made with it. They have all kinds of different candies taffy, little single candies, as well as theater boxes and popcorn, caramel corn. In addition, they have jams and jellies. We finally made it Uranus! (words I never thought I'd actually type). After having seen the signs for Uranus Fudge Factory for the last 5 or 6 years on our trips to/from Fort Wayne, we decided to see what all the fuss was, and we were not disappointed! Uranus Fudge Factory is a fun, kitschy, novel place. From the moment you walk in the door and hear "Welcome to Uranus, where we pack your fudge for you", you know you're in for a fun visit. The fudge counter has I don't remember how many flavors of fudge, all made on site. I was just in awe of the selection. I sampled a few but settled on Dark Chocolate Fudge. It's delicious and very, VERY rich....so it's basically perfection. Their "tour" amounts to a window that views into the fudge making area. There was no fudge in production on our visit, but I think it'd be fun to watch. There is a vast selection of Uranus Fudge Factory t-shirts for sale, and even more that are not Uranus-specific, but rather funny, punny, or some someway tangentially related to the making or packing of fudge with a wink and a nod. Did I mention candy? They have a lot of candy. They have a lot of various types of candy. They have old (read that: legacy) candy. There's even probably close to 40 baskets of assorted individually wrapped candies that you can select from to create your own candy basket (sold by weight). For me it was a couple handfuls of Chick-O-Stick®. To dispel the notion that this is a fudge-and-candy only place, there's also a nice selection of I assume locally made jarred products and, of course, Uranus Fudge Factory (yes, I did purchase a shot glass). In another area there is a huge selection of merchandise ranging from novelty glassware, games, playing cards, and festive/themed/whimsical underwear. I swear, this place has everything. Our visit was about 45 minutes, and we took our time. We only visited the factory/general store and nothing else on the property. This won't take a big chunk of your day. I'm glad we gave in and finally visited. It was a fun visit. I don't know if we'd consider it a repeat destination, but with it being a short drive off of I-69 in Anderson I can see us dropping in from time to time to check out what's new. read more

I was in Anderson IN meeting some friends at a brewery, and decided to stop by Uranus Fudge Factory on the way home just to check it out. This is definitely a tourist attraction worth visiting! When you pull up to the factory, you will see decorations and statues of astronaut and a dragon at the ice cream shop across from the fudge factory. The fudge factory has lots of memorabilia and unique decorations outside and inside the factory. They have the Zoltar psychic booth from the movie "Big" which is a nice attraction. When you go inside the factory, the smell of fudge hits you as soon as you walk in the door. The inside ambiance is very old school factory type with the fudge display shown all across the front of the store. The factory had many flavors of fudge and reduced sugar which I ended up getting the peanut butter and chocolate reduced sugar fudge, along with a 1/4 lb. of the rocky road fudge. The girl behind the fudge counter was very enthusiastic and had a great personality when she took my order, so she made my experience very enjoyable. The factory also has neat souvenirs and local Indiana products on sale. I did pick up some local raw honey from a place in Indiana. When I went to check out, the cashier was very nice and professional, and gave me a complimentary issue of the Uranus examiner that talks about the planet Uranus and other valuable information. There is also an ice cream shop across the factory to check out if you are in the mood for ice cream. I did not get any, but I'm sure it is worth visiting. The fudge itself was incredible! The rocky road fudge was heaven, and the reduced sugar peanut butter and chocolate fudge was very good! This tourist attraction is worth visiting in Anderson, IN. Seeing many road signs along the highway, we just had to stop in and see what Uranus Fudge was all about. When we walked in, we were greeted by several staff members saying, "Welcome to Uranus" in unison, giving me a chuckle. Well, that simply set the stage for a very light-hearted visit at this establishment. We both just laughed and laughed at all the wall and ceiling decor, as well as the items for sale. The artwork in the general store and the ice cream shop was very well done and quite imaginative. Kept seeing signs along Hwy 69 so was curious to check it out. First of all there aren't enough signs to the shop, thought it'd be right off the exit but it's not. Had to search on the GPS to find it. The shop is bigger than expected but selection isn't as varied as I thought. Was looking for chocolate covered almonds but there were none. Ended up getting a bag of Fresh Butter Caramel Corn. It was ok, definitely fresh but nothing special. A 12oz bag cost $10.99. Saw it and tried it, nothing worth checking out again. Well this is one over the top shop. What do you expect with a name like that. Actually I think the fudge takes a bit of a backseat here. I mean considering it's in the name. You can't miss this building, plus all the advertisements and signs guiding you here. And the building itself is somewhat garish. There is a dinosaur on the side of the building for example and a very scary door, if you happen to try the wrong one. Inside you will find everything under the sun. There is a small counter with fudge and truffles and such. I bought some raspberry vanilla, praline and by recommendation from the counter help some salted caramel (it's more like salted chocolate with a small line of caramel in it) There is a popcorn display with various popcorn flavors. I did get some caramel popcorn which is quite tasty. I did pass on the dill pickle popcorn though. I am not that brave, or I should say not that rich to buy stuff I will most likely not enjoy. There is a big aisle with various candies that you can help yourself . Just put it in a bag and they weigh it at the check out. The rest of the store is clothing with smart a$$ sayings, and other articles with the same. The entire store plays on the Uranus theme, which can be funny... but it's an overload here and some of it is more gross than funny. And the prices here are nothing to sneeze at either I have to say. read more

I didn't realize that the fudge shop existed out of Missouri, but apparently there is one right off of I-69 in Anderson. Like many, their tongue and cheek bathroom humor billboard marketing made it too hard to pass up. Highlights/Tips * you will only need to detour ~2 miles off of the exit * the parking lot can get crowded depending on the number of people who visit. Weekends, especially holiday crowds, can be packed * the fudge shop is in the general store that sells a variety of items, including funny t-shirts. The ice cream shop is in another building to the side *there are plenty of picture opportunities for all this poop related * There are many varieties of fudges, and all but four (think cookie/candy bar related) were gluten free. Cross contamination could be of a concern for those with issues with gluten, depending on the utensils used to cut the fudge, but they did change their gloves *the staff was very friendly. My son in love, got the chocolate peanut butter fudge and said it was the best he has ever had. He's traveled the world, so this is saying a lot! There is so many fun things here. The staff greets you energetically with every innuendo that you can think of about Uranus. There are all kinds of flavors of fudge and all are available to sample. Beautiful shop. All the associates/owners were happy to serve and took pride in their work. The entire shop was colorfully decorated and the flavors of ice creams and hand crafted other candies and savory snacks, were all looking fresh and tasteful. What a cool find in the Midwest. I visited the original on Route 66 in Missouri several years ago so imagine my surprise to find one only about 25 minutes from my home (dangerous!!) LOL. Not only do they have wacky decorations and signs that will make anyone with a sense of humor chuckle. After roaming around the store, I sampled some fudge to decide what I wanted. Their fudge was definitely tasty. I got their basic chocolate fudge which has a nice cocoa coming through. The salted caramel fudge is also good and you will agree with me and others it taste like a brownie. I got a 1/4 lb of each to share with family and friends. Be prepared for poop puns and bawdy humor galore at Uranus Fudge Factory. If these things cause you to reach for your pearls so you can clutch them tightly, then this place might not be for you. But the silly humor at this tourist stop in Anderson is all in good fun, and my kids and I had a really good time here. I should mention that I don't like fudge. Like, at all. I love almost all sweets, but fudge is not one of them. But guess what: There are a lot of other sweet treats at Uranus, and I bought a half pound of them in the form of chocolates. They have chocolate-covered caramels, peanut butter cups, chocolate bonbons, truffles and a lot more chocolate things. You can get their chocolates and truffles by the piece or by the quarter pound. They have so many tasty-looking candies to choose from, and we had a hard time picking what we wanted! I think my favorite was a chocolate that had maple nougat inside. It was delicious. Most people get fudge at Uranus, though -- it's what they're known for. If you're looking for fudge, you'll find lots of different flavors, like cookies and cream, praline pecan, rocky road, blueberry cheesecake, peanut butter chocolate, and the most amusing: The Mayor's #2 Most Favorite Fudge, which had bits of candy corn in it. (Oh geez! See what I mean?) This is also a general store, and you'll find lots of kitschy toys and gadgets, souvenirs, bulk old-fashioned candy, ice cream bars, and lots more. There's a sign in the store that says that a mini putt putt golf course and playground is forthcoming soon. But in the meantime, you can go visit "Tiffany" who is standing watch at her little wooden box outside. Text her and she'll send you a link to the Uranus Fudge website. This is definitely a pretty darn cute tourist attraction. Billboards seen all over the state driving down from Fort Wayne. So after seeing a bunch of them, we decided to stop. I guess those things really do work! Plenty of parking out front and it's definitely kitchy on the outside. On the inside it's all sorts of things! Besides the fudge that you can get, there's all sorts of tacky things to pick up. Lots of stuff for adults and kids. This definitely made for an entertaining stop. Call it what you want, a tourist trap or a fun destination. We had a good time and friend of mine actually bought a shirt that fits well with his specific needs. No need to get into more detail about that. Definitely worth a stop for some good fudge and other kitchen things. Service was great and everybody was friendly. read more
