Heading back into Indy we were craving chocolate so looked up options and found this hidden gem. It is in the town of Kennard and it seems like you missed it, but it is in an unassuming house on the corner with a fun front porch. Once you enter you are hit by a wave of chocolate goodness that honestly made my mouth salivate! They had a ton of options from chocolate covered marshmallows, pretzels, Oreos and various candies all dipped or coated in chocolate. We browsed a bit and then the very friendly staff helped us with options. We bought a pound of the covered ones and got a huge assortment which come in both dark and milk chocolate. The amazing thing too is that they hand dip everything! It is a family owned spot that has been around forever, so they know their chocolate! Biting into the cream filled center my first thought was that this chocolate was amazing, and super thick. They did not skimp on the coating which I so appreciate. The filling was plenty and you almost didn't have to eat more than one to feel full, they were that full of taste. Delicious! It's the best. Simply the best. I've had the finest chocolates from coast to coast and beyond. Good's ORIGINAL in Kennard is the best. Hands down. Only open from October to May, their hand dipped chocolates aren't full of waxes and preservatives and it shows. I used to have a dealer, who lived nearby, but I lost her in a divorce. Thankfully, they have a recently updated website that's easy to navigate for convenient ordering. Under normal circumstances, they ship quickly. One day transit to the greater Indianapolis area. They do get busy around the holidays and stop taking orders, so plan accordingly! Shipping is via USPS and fair in price, but you can also pick up in store. Here's what you MUST have: Chatter Bars Toffee Peanut Butter Creams Bourbon Cherries Peanut Clusters Chocolate Marshmallows (Both kinds) I can't speak to their fruit creams as I don't lean towards fruity chocolates, except for raspberry, but it can't be artificial raspberry. I don't know if theirs is or not, but I'm that afraid of artificial raspberry. If you visit the store around holidays, you'll find appropriate themed chocolates. Bunnies. Santa. If you think a better chocolate exists, you send me a message and tell me where I can get it. New neighbor? Bring them a box of Good's. Going on a date? Bring a box of Good's. Birthdays. My sisters and I grew up with our father stopping by the little store in Anderson. We grew up loving the milk chocolate turtles that they make. So good that at least once a year I order a box delivered to my sister and one got me! Excellent candies!!! read more

I have been enjoying the (original) Goods Candies for decades and have always LOVED it, especially the toffee. I understand the need to update, but I definitely miss the previous hand dipped candies. The chocolate is shiny now and looks like it's made in a candy mold and just lacks the delicious creaminess I had been spoiled by. The cream flavors are still named the same, but don't taste the same or have the same consistency. I really miss the original toffee that was buttery but crisp and without any graininess. I would have gone to any location for their original candy, but that candy is, sadly, no longer available. If you've never had the wonderful original candy, maybe you'll like this version. I have had candy all over the world and this candy is among the best I've ever had! When they close in mid May for the summer, I practically start counting down the days until they reopen in October. I have to call out the two 1 star reviews posted on 5/23/21 and 5/24/21 as they appear to be reviews for a different business. The review on 5/23 clearly has confused businesses. This is a small, family-owned candy store that not many people know about. However, their chocolates are excellent and have a wonderful homemade taste to them. I especially liked the ones filled with raspberry! They are only open during certain times of the year, and the lady made sure that we knew that if we wanted to order chocolates for the holidays, we would need to get our order in by October 31st because they receive so many orders. She was very nice and accommodating, especially since we kept changing our mind on what we wanted to purchase when we stopped in the store. There have been so many changes in the last 2 years under the new owners. Our family has been purchasing this candy for 3 generations. I had so much fun as a kid learning the designs on the top of the candy. That is how the candies were distinguished from each other. Molds have replaced hand dipping. They say because the molds are more sanitary than hand dipping. But they took a profitable family owned business and turned to automation to cut costs. They don't care that they have run loyal customers away with all the changes in texture and flavor. It's not the same. For those who decide to purchase this imitation of the original, you will never know the quality and love that went into this business. read more

I could go into great detail but in short, this business is no longer owned by the family and the new owners have changed everything. As a long time, loyal customers, my family & I can say that the changes in how they make the candy have severely damaged the quality and taste of the candy. I was brought here as a child by my mom and now I come here for my mom and anyone I know who appreciates great chocolate. I think that this is honestly the best chocolate I have had anywhere. The owners are a very nice couple who have taken over the longtime family business. They have done everything just right to maintain the highest quality in chocolates. If I could have chocolates shipped to me from anywhere in the world I would still choose Good's. I love the Dark Chocolate Toffee and Mint Chips as my standbys. Walked into this place today. Lady asked if she could help me. Told her it was my first time there and I was just passing thru town. She asked if I had an order to pick up. No. Then she went on to explain they were behind and only giving chocolate to people that had ordered. She kindly let me know the only items I could get was the prepackaged items. Pretzel, popcorn, Carmel's. No chocolate that I could see. I said well ok. Maybe I'll see ya next year and left. Not sure how long it takes to throw chocolate in a box and take my $. But I know it wasn't as long as It took to tell me that I couldn't do just that. The funny thing is that about 3-4 years ago I was in this place and the exact same thing happened. I know I kinda fibbed to the employee but I just wanted to see what a 1st time visitor passing thru town would be told. I told myself never to go back. This place has the best chocolate ever! My mom would get a box once a year at Christmas as treat when we were kids. She typically would only let us kids have one piece and hide the rest for herself. Now my husband buys me my own HUGE box each year for my birthday and has shipped to us since we live far away now. I look forward to it every year. There is no other chocolate that compares.
