They have kids' sizes, which is appreciated. I am not an ice cream person, so I got two hand-dipped peanut butter cups, one for each hand: one milk chocolate, and the other dark chocolate. Both were delicious! We ate our treats at a table on the outdoor patio. There is lots of outdoor seating, and zero indoor seating. So, your options are to sit outside or get your goodies to go. The people who work here are polite and patient, which is also appreciated. You know how it goes when you visit a sweets shop with kids -- they can't make up their mind about what they want. But the people behind the counter were very kind and waited with the utmost patience while my children made their decision about which ice cream flavor to choose. read more

Honestly I can't believe it's taken us this long to visit. (Maybe because I knew once we did, my kids would never stop asking any time we're within 10 miles of downtown Franklin... which is almost daily.) The shop so perfectly fits the downtown Franklin vibe -- there's a LOT of goodies crammed into a small space, unique things you won't easily find elsewhere (the candies from around the world is such a cool idea), and of course the ice cream. This locally owned shop is located across from Depot Park. I think that the building is actually an old railroad depot. It is very rare that you get to use an old cliche in the literal sense, but here I go. When I came here, I was like a kid in a candy store. Ice cream, and candy and pop...oh my. This place has everything my dentist wants me to stay away from and I love it. The staff there is so very welcoming, friendly and helpful. It has the vibe and feel of a classic mom and pop candy store down to the old music they have playing. They have a large selection of novelty, classic and traditional candy. There is a glass case of chocolates that you can choose from. They also have bottles craft pop. Yes, I said pop. I normally call it soda, but it was so classic and tasty that I just had to call it pop. They have some exotic flavors to choose from and I took a 6-pack selection of various flavors such as pumpkin, grapefruit, pumpkin, and lemonade. And of course I had to get some of their novelty candy for my littles. If that was not enough they have two freezers of hand scooped ice cream. I did not get any, but it looked so fresh and delicious. They shop does not have an indoor dining area, but they do have some benches out front that you can sit and enjoy your treat. There is also a patio along the street that has a few picnic tables that you can sit at as well. I have found my new guilty pleasure. I will definitely be stopping here every time I am in Franklin. I highly recommend checking this place out, even if you have to drive a bit to get here. read more

A fun day was had by all at Perfect North Slopes. After a fun but exhausting afternoon we grabbed some delicious pizza (Be on the lookout for that review coming soon) and after pizza we mommas got the hankering for some ice cream. We went to three ..... YES THREE..... locations within a 10 mile radius from Perfect North and ALL THREE were closed. Devastated but not defeated we looked up a local place in Franklin, Hoosier Cubbard Candy, snacks, and Ice Cream. They were closing at 6 and our ETA was 5:46..... we got this! And off we went. Let me tell y'all..... I'm in trouble. They're only a mile down the road and the ice cream was everything our heart's desired. And the insane selection of candy and other goodies is mind blowing! I got a scoop of Strawberry Cheesecake and Cake Batter.... My only complaint is that I ate it all and had none left for later. Kim is an absolute GEM of a woman! Can't wait to go back in when I have a little more time to check out all the goodies! read more

We stopped by today for some ice cream and ended up bringing 4 different pints home of different ice cream flavors. They were ALL delicious!! We also ended up getting some chocolates too on the way out (totally an impulse buy), and every single flavor was wonderful. After an afternoon of shopping in Edinburg, ice cream sounded SO good. I looked on Yelp for something local and fast food chains like Mickey Dees popped up. Not what I was looking for so I turned to Google. They showed this place not too far away, conveniently on the way home back to Indy. It wasn't the easiest to find and we got stuck waiting on a train. It was 5:30 and they close at 6, I was so worried about missing out after seeing such great reviews. I really think they could do well being open later. We walked in and while it's a bit dark inside with the homestyle decor, the candy galore brightens things up. Everywhere you look, a variety of gummies, chocolate, jelly beans, taffy, etc. While we came for ice cream, and the elephant ear unique flavor did not disappoint, I was happy to also see a glass case of chocolates reasonably priced. Behind the counter in the ice cream side of the shop are more chocolates and gummies in containers that are sold by weight. I was happy to see peanut butter malt balls! One of my favorite sweet treats that are typically difficult to locate. Staff was nice. The cashier talked about the ice cream coming from a vendor who has 100+ years experience. I asked if she owned it and she explained all of the staff was family (husband, two kids). Makes me happy to support a family-run local mom and pop shop. Like I said, pricing was on point. I really enjoyed the ice cream in a waffle cone and the gummies were no surprise on the taste. My husband and kiddo got the cookie dough ice cream and didn't love the weird mint aftertaste. Once home, I tried the chocolates and didn't love them. I got a variety of truffles, one chocolate sea salt toffee, and a turtle. The only one I liked was the toffee, which was actually amazing. The others tasted like cheap chocolates with poor flavor. I would definitely return to this gem and recommend others stop by when in the area. Support local! read more

I was on the search for ice cream in Franklin, IN and really it would be hard to top if this place was in any other town. First of all, it's in an old railroad depot. Second, there is sooo much candy in here that just by walking in, you are in danger of diabetes. But what I came for was the homemade ice cream. I am a chocolate fanatic and what caught my eye was the Chocoloate Brownie flavor. I don't even know if that is the name of it but I remember chocolate and brownie. It was so rich and what I loved about it was the lack of the big brownie pieces that make it difficult for a milkshake. This milkshake was so smooth like a very thick chocolate milk with all the goodness of brownies. It was so good, I went back the next day, and got another one. Wow! Candy of all kinds and ice cream too! I had been walking around Franklin and when the sun started heating things up, ice cream seemed to be calling my name. The place is filled with a variety of candies. Row upon row of name brands and small brands filled me with nostalgia as I saw some that I was surprised were still around. In the room to the right of the entrance is an ice cream counter with about 20 flavors. I opted for the Turtle Trails which had those bits of crunchy goodness like moose tracks ice cream. So good! A real gem in Franklin, Indiana, Hoosier Cupboard is located in an old train depot. The candy and sweets are a treat but what you really need to try is the cake batter ice cream! It's definitely the best I've had and it's not what you are expecting - yellow cake batter with chocolate mixed in versus the usual white cake batter with sprinkles. What a jewel this old train depot renovation is! It is a dream come true for train fans PLUS any candy you can image. Yummy ice cream AND any root beer you can image for a root beer float. Kim Smith is a true hostess of Hoosier Hospitality. She is so knowledgeable about the history of the depot and it's importance during the golden age of train transportation. My family and I went to try this place out today, gotta say...we loved it! It was in the new location on the address they have on here in an old train station, we all liked that! They have candy, ice cream, sodas, pop corn, etc. Very large selection of different kinds of candy, small amount of ice cream but trust me, the ice cream is very tasty and if you aren't very hungry don't get the two scoops cup, just trust me, that's the one I got and I'll just say they do not skimp out on loading it up! They have this place decorated very nice, they play retro music, at least while we were there they were playing like 20-30s era songs, we liked that a lot as well. Gave you a feeling like an old soda/ice cream shop! If you haven't been here there yet you should really try them out, I doubt you'll be disappointed. Right behind them were antique shops and other places that looked interesting but due to circumstance weren't able to go and look. Visited with a large group last weekend. Definitely recommend starting your visit with a quick tour of the museum, listening to the history of the Franklin Railroads. Then reward yourself with a nice treat from the ice cream shop. Be warned their servings are very big. A single scoop was more than enough for me. The girls each got a junior cup at a $1.95 a piece and walked away very satisfied. I was happy to see a dairy-free option on the menu as well. Raspberry sorbet. My favorite place to walk to in our town. It is so beautifully located in the old train depot which makes visiting extra fun. They have been so safe and wonderful with all the COVID regulations, too. They have a huge variety of ice cream, candy (both packaged and fresh chocolates in the display case), and old-fashioned sodas. Despite being small it is very nicely spread out so you never feel cramped inside. Everything is delicious and the people working there always seem genuinely happy to be there. Bonus: the have a train museum running some days!!! There are lots of places to sit outside of the depot, like benches and a nearby gazebo as well as an old train car to play on. read more

Yes ! It has the very best ice cream I will admit. Great customer service as well. BUT !!! Don't use a credit card !! You've been warned !! After returning home the next day I went to pay my credit card bill only to find someone took my card number and charged over $9700 dollars to it ! That weekend I shopped two places, HOOSIER CUPBOARD CANDY, and Krogers. Krogers has the card machine where you the customer insert your card and no-one else touches it. So you figure, which one most likely has the problem. As a courtesy, I called the ice cream store and asked to speak to the owner, or manager. Very reluctantly he answered, as they were very busy. Explaining to him how it most likely happened at his buisness, he should check his machine and watch his employees very carefully. However the impression I got was a lack of concern, as it "could have happened anywhere". Really ? His was the only place I handed my card to someone who "processed " it behind the counter where a customer could not see. Don't use your credit card there! read more

No this place does not have the huge selection that rocket fizz has, but it has more charm in my opinion. The staff that I have encountered were not the most social people, but they were polite and helpful with my questions.
