I always find it hard to avoid popcorn if I see it in a restaurant, so we started with several servings of popcorn from the machine. While it admittedly tasted like it was left over from the previous night...it was ok to go along with our pre-dinner beverages. For our meal, we ordered a Brisket Smack pizza (see picture) to share - and once again, it was delicious! If the brisket isn't enough to catch your attention, there was also macaroni and cheese as well as a smokey-sweet bbq sauce. You can't go wrong with this! Turns out that it was also Wing Wednesday, with bone-in wings for $0.90 each, so we ordered a variety of wings (see pictures) with Bourbon Honey Mustard (my favorite), Mango Habanero (next favorite...not very spicy), Garlic Parmesan & Buffalo sauces. We found the wings to be larger than typical and moist almost to a fault (the skin was also soft, while we prefer a crispy crust). We enjoyed them all though...and you can't go wrong with the value at $0.90/each. If you found this review helpful, please show your appreciation with a Like or a Follow.

Great location near the intersection. Service is always so friendly! As an FYI, on Sunday's they have a limited menu and only serve pizza - no worries, there's something for everyone on that menu too!

There were very few other guests in the restaurant at 8pm on a Tuesday but the food and service was still terrific. The server ( didn't catch his name) even made a couple of quick witted jokes and ensured the desserts ordered were gluten free for the girls. I tried the brisket ramen for a change and the flavors were 10/10. My husband enjoyed the Cuban sandwich w a side salad (which was a nicely elevated mixed greens) and our youngest daughter really liked the salmon dish. The branded buns are a nice touch - bummed I didn't snap a pic of those. If you haven't yet been, give this place a try - keeping a restaurant going isn't for the faint of heart, and we enjoy spreading the love around as much as we can!

Smoke & Iron is new to West Fargo. So why does it feel like I've been here before?…read moreThat's the challenge with this style of restaurant -- how do you rise above the familiar? Smoke & Iron certainly tries. The menu is creative, the cocktails are eye-catching (including a smoked Old Fashioned worth ordering for the spectacle alone), and the décor is polished and modern. Still, the overall experience feels a bit too familiar. It's definitely a step above an Applebee's, but it lands somewhere in that upscale-yet-safe middle of the American dining scene. For all its ambition and investment -- clearly millions poured into design, staffing, and concept -- it stops just short of being truly remarkable. Our group of eleven was lively, and our server, Kea, handled the crowd with poise and good humor. After a few well-made cocktails, dinner arrived. We sampled dishes like the Beef Tenderloin, Honey Smoked Salmon, and New York Strip Oscar. Across the table, the consensus was the same: everything was good -- attractively plated, properly cooked (mostly hot), and seasoned well. I had the New York Strip Oscar myself. It arrived warm, not hot -- and as I worked my way through it, my impressions began to settle. The steak was fine, the flavors pleasant, but there was no spark, no "wow." Others at the table echoed that feeling: solid, but not memorable. In the end, Smoke & Iron feels like a restaurant earnestly reaching for distinction but not quite grasping it. It's better than most, certainly closer to the top than the bottom, yet still caught in that crowded middle -- among all the other places trying hard to be "the next big thing." Would I tell you not to go? Not at all. It's worth a visit. Just go with measured expectations. I genuinely hope Smoke & Iron finds its footing and breaks free from the pack -- because it's clear they're aiming for more.
