This is a dinner but not a greasy dinner. I didn't get pictures but the food was good. When we arrived they said about 10 minutes so we sat at the counter to be served right away. Weird I had to ask for a menu but it all worked out. The server came and brought us waters asking if we wanted anything else to drink but instead we ordered our food. I got the hamburger steak with lightly done hasbrowns and a GF Udi's chocolate chip muffin. It was good. The hasbrown were amazing very buttery. Tip: the hamburger steak comes with eggs, even though it is not in the description. Tip 2: the muffins are packaged up so if you want to take it with you tell them not to heat it up. My partner had a side of hasbrowns with biscuits & gravy. He said the gravy seemed from a box and the biscuit were good but sweet. Tip: the gravy does not have meat or sausage in it. Truly it is just gravy. Even the sausage and gravy was sausage patties on top of biscuits covered in gravy. The cinnamon roll was GIANT. I did not have it but it looked good. They do use the microwave for heating up things like muffins, the syrup, frosting for the cinnamon roll, etc. I would go back if we were in the area. read more

Served fast and hot with good ingredients used. So happy to find a local ( non chain) restaurant on our trip to Fargo. Randy's is the definition of hole in the wall diner! If you want a great, simple, and tasty breakfast with fast service they are your spot. Personally I just eat breakfast every time I go because it's so elite, they do have a dinner and lunch menu later on in the day but I'm a big breakfast at all times of day person. If you go for breakfast, you need to get one of two things: their buttermilk pancakes or their coffee cake. You have to get one. The pancakes stan as the best I've ever had-- they're buttermilk, so they're sweet and soft and all over delicious. The coffee cake is house made and famous at Randy's, and holy cow do I crave that sometimes. You can't go wrong with a skillet and their omelettes are massive and loaded with goodness. If you go at any time before 1pm on a weekend it's going to be insanely busy. People know Randy's is the breakfast spot, and especially for post church eats on Sundays. In high school my family and I would come every Sunday. The hostess still knows our names because we were and are such regulars, lol. Can't beat the classic hole in the wall! read more

Hopping place for breakfast ! Great $8.50 specials which my husband took advantage of. Unfortunately, waitress submitted toast order wrong and by the time it came the rest had cooled. Serving size was good on my cheese omelette with hash browns though would have liked them crispier with some flavor. I stopped in after taking care of somethings. I always enjoy there food here it is fantastic and fast. I was a little disappointed in my choice of food though don't get wrong it was still delicious, just not what I would of thought as stuffed French toast with cream cheese. Your choice was blueberry or strawberry, I went with strawberry it came with whip cream and a side of strawberries When I dug into my French toast I surprised I tasted no cream cheese so I opened up the French toast only to be sadden it had no stuffed filling like it said, but lightly buttered as I would call it with cream cheese from a container, nothing like you you would normally get when you ordered something stuffed. 2021 09-03 * Ordered a Mushroom & Swiss on grilled sourdough and the 1/4" patty was underseasoned and grossly undercooked (see photo). The crinkle cut fries (ordered well-done/extra crispy) were hot, slightly crispy but also very underseasoned (if seasoned at all). I asked the server if all burgers were cooked this way and he said no so I politely asked if the cook would remake it. It was remade (mostly done) but the grilled toast had a slight crunch but mostly hot bread with butter. I wasn't waiting for a 3rd try. My water went unfilled which was surprising as I sat at the counter and every employee walked by me a dozen times yet none cared that my empty cup sat at the edge. When my server brought the check, I finally asked if I could have a refill. There was no apology for the undercooked meal (and the added wait time) nor any offer of a comped dessert or certificate to come back and try them again. I can assure you that hospitality does not have a residence at this establishment. This is my 4th visit in the past couple of years here and every meal has been just as unsatisfactory as the last. I kept trying to support this local eatery but cannot find a reason to return. I've done my share of time in the food service industry and do not have particularly high standards but these experiences have left me in total bewilderment. If Guy Fieri were to visit this eatery he would have to change the name of his show to, "Diners, Drive-Ins, Dives & Dumps. read more

Underwhelming. I can't understand why people speak well of this place. The food could not be more plain. When I eat out I hope to enjoy well planned/prepared fare that can't easily be made at home. The use of salt and pepper alone would put you ahead of this restaurant. I often wonder who the people are that decide what dishes/recipes actually make the menu. I ordered a french dip sandwich. The boiled beef was dry with no seasoning/flavor, the bun was dry (not buttered ), and the sandwich had no cheese. It's almost as if they were trying to erase every ounce of possible flavor from this sandwich. Icing on the underwhelming cake, at the end of our meal the manager came over to brag about how amazing their french dips are. I understand Randy's is nostalgic for many people who grew up in the Fargo area. I wish patrons would require more out of this restaurant than simply food being prepared for you. read more

This experience was at Randy's Diner Too. Very poor service. Food was ok. Beverage glasses were empty when food arrived. Had to ask for refills which should have been a given. Never did get refilled. Server came back later to check how meal was and we asked again for refils.. Still nothing. We have not been to Randy's in several years, last time was before the pandemic and sadly it seems to have really went downhill. The service wasn't too bad but it also wasn't overly great. My mother LOVES liver and onions so that is why we came here... her liver was extremely over cooked, like shoe leather even though she specifically asked to the server to please request that it isn't over cooked. My dads hamburger steak was cold when it was served. Not sure if they have a new cook or short staffed but chances are we will not be returning. read more

First time visit to Randy's. Local crowd and fast friendly service! Great spot. We arrived at 930am and there was no wait for two. My wife and I opted for the skillets. They come with an option for toast or coffee cake before the meal. I opted for coffee cake and it was served warm. It was amazing. I have no complaints with the skillet. It came with sausage gravy on it and I did add a little more salt but it was good as is. This place is pretty inexpensive for breakfast. Great atmosphere, great food, great service. I've been eating here for many years. It's a regular place for breakfast. The food is pretty good and the price is decent. My favorite is the booths that line the windows facing the street - it really feels like a classic diner. They don't have any problem with custom orders, in fact I generally order something simple and just add on whatever I feel like eating and the price is still good when you do that. The coffee had a strange taste to it. Yes I get its diner coffee so it isn't anything to write home about, but i take my am coffee seriously! I ordered the meat skillet. Was in town recently and wanted a local place to eat. Found this gem on Yelp and decided to check it out. I walked in and was one only a few people in the place. Got seated and made my decision on a breakfast skillet with eggs, ham,. cheese, onions, hash browns, cheese, and hollandaise sauce on top. You'll look at this place from the outside and second-guess all these Yelp reviews telling you to visit. But, just hear the voice of your middle school teacher telling you to not judge a book by its cover. THIS PLACE IS AWESOME! I won't break my review up into good/bad sections because there's really only two things to discuss... First, the skillets. Bring an appetite and order a skillet. And you still might need someone to help you out. Make sure you get something that's nice and messy and really takes advantage of the skillet. But, I'll warn you again, these things are HUGE!!! You won't trust me and you won't believe it when you're reading the menu, but you could put a picture of one of these skillets next to the word "ginormous" in the dictionary. And they're just as delicious. I wiped mine clean!!! Second, the desserts. Believe it or not, I ate a skillet and then ordered pie. My eyes were much bigger than my stomach, but I had no regrets. As good and tasty as the skillets (and the rest of the menu) are, the pies live up to being the finishing touch on an excellent meal. I would tell you to leave room, but that would be a joke. Just be ready to loosen up your jeans and belt and have no use for any food the next day. DELICIOUS! Finally, I'll make a note of the service. The night we were there, they had three guys working. One was the server (for everybody), one was the cook (for everybody), and one was the dishwasher/trash guy/etc. (for everybody). So I put my plate aside and figured I'd just not eat (I wasn't crazy hungry anyway) and had no problem paying for it too. The manager noticed my plate set aside and asked if everything was okay. I'm not one to lie, so I told her what was wrong. She fixed it right away - asked me if I wanted anything else from the menu, so I ordered the eggs Benedict and it came out super quick.
