Outstanding! Marge's Diner is your grandmother's home with cross-stitch artwork, a collection of various salt and pepper shakers, unlimited coffee bar for $4 served in a mug of your choice, and hanging plant baskets. It's iconic. Located in the heart of downtown, don't skip on this experience. Offering both bar and table seating, the service is quick and the menu is darling. I would only come here for breakfast because it's served all day and I'm a brunch fanatic. Contrary, a lunch menu is offered and they are supposedly known for their salad bar and soup to which I saw a few tables ordering. I opted in for the breakfast sandwhich which was the right size for me. Many spots these days give way too much food and this was just enough. It even came with two hash brown triangles like the ones from middle school bringing back all the nostalgia. Zero crumbs were left. I will definitely return as I want to try some of the pancake and French toast options. Thank you, Marge's Diner, for being so accommodating and not trying to be anything fancy. I admire the theme, setup, service, decor and prices. Bravo!!! read more

Marge's Diner was a nostalgic little spot that truly felt like stepping back in time. One thing to know before you go - there isn't a host, so be sure to check in using the iPad at the entrance. We visited on a Friday morning, and the wait was minimal. The service was a bit underwhelming, but it seemed like they were operating with a limited staff, so that may have played a role. Overall, it's a charming diner with a classic atmosphere that's worth experiencing if you're looking for a taste of nostalgia. read more

amazing cute and quaint little breakfast place. kind of small and a little loud but I think that's just because of the size and even adds to the experience because you have to huddle closer with people you already like. the attitude of the servers and staff make running a busy breakfast diner look effortless and they clearly love what they do and that reflects in the food. plates are massive for the prices and every bite is incredible. the breakfast burrito and hollandaise are hearty and filling. very affordable and great to go with people you love. read more

Back in town for business and had a business meeting downtown at Marge's. I like the idea, kind of fun vibe but NOT WORTH IT. Prices are more expensive that California. They charge almost $10 just to substitute salad bar for frozen tator tots. To be fair it was a good salad bar but NOT worth the money. Also embarrassing to be told that I only get one trip. Nobody likes to have to heap of their plate. I thought it would be nice to have a salad, then maybe go back for the relish items I missed the first time and finally grab a Cooke at desert time but I found out you have to load all that up on your plate the first time! Who wants to get french dressing on their cookie? The meatloaf sandwich was pretty flavorless. (They have a phenomenal meat loaf sandwich just down the street at the Radisson.). The tots were plain version like Orida, frozen tots. For the prices I would have expected something special. Lastly they added an extra 20% to our bill for no reason! (They said it was because we had 5 people with us. Really? They got our order wrong, then chastised us for the sale bar and they charged us an extra 20% calling it gratuity. If it is FORCED ON US it is NOT gratuity! And if you are going to mandate 20% tip, then provide service that justifies it. Judging from the small crowd during the lunch rush I am guessing we are not the first people to figure out that this place is not about giving its customers a good experience. Their business model is to get as much out of them the first time they go there because they probably are not coming back. The only reason not one star is it's kind Of a cute place. read more

The service & decor was great, but the 2 breakfast entrees that were ordered couldn't have been more different. I had the biscuits & gravy. I read a review that said the gravy is spicy, and it is, but... It's not a hot spicy but from the seasonings they use. It was just ok in my book. It's really hard to beat my grandmas. The biscuit was dry and my OM eggs were hard. Our server did remove the charge for my eggs. The pancake is HUGE! It was also light & fluffy, as were the scrambled eggs. Both were delicious. Based on this review I would certainly return. read more

We love this place. Their pancakes are huge! The food is awesome. The space is a little tight but it just gives it that nostalgic feeling of an old diner. Service is friendly and fast. Give it a try read more

I can only speak to a quick lunch here, but this place is often quite busy when i walk by! I had the soup/salad bar. The salad bar was 10/10 in terms of offerings. I had the lobster bisque and it was good, but not amazing in terms of overall flavor palette - just a bit bland. That said, the salad bar took the review to 5 stars due to quality and the number of offerings, not easy to pull off in a small venue! Great lunch stop! read more

Actually thought the place was pretty good and very crowded with pretty large size groups for such a small place. Their coffee service is odd, self service on a separate cabinet but I had a hard time finding a cup (mug) that was actually fully clean including coffee staining. Just a quick dip in chlorinated water would do the trick. Also, didn't like at all the fact that my sour cream add to the breakfast burrito was a sealed plastic squeeze pouch that was also covered in the cheese sauce the spread over the burrito making it very messy to use/open. read more

I wanted a place with something "different" on the menu and I got it! While I didn't get adventurous with my order, I appreciated all the unique offerings. I'm not a big eater, so I was limited, but this would be a fun place to come with a group to share food with one another. I sat at the bar and the staff was friendly and attentive. It wasn't awkward being alone at all. The decor is eclectic and fun. Cool diner vibe with a twist. I'll be back FOR SURE! read more

What a seriously cute spot in Fargo! It's right downtown with plenty of street parking. The decor is very 70s and quirky, with a huge collection if salt and pepper shakers. One of us got the biscuits and gravy which was delicious, and the breakfast burrito didn't disappoint. I got the salad and soup bar, because what a fun throwback! The salad bar is stacked with delicious veggies, cheese, pickled toppings, croutons and so many things I couldn't believe it. The service was so friendly and efficient. I will definitely stop again next time I'm in town. read more

Marge's Diner is an adorable staple in downtown Fargo. With its vintage furniture and kitch decor it's almost like eating at your grandma's house. The staff is friendly and attentive. Our server put ice cubes in my daughters' hot chocolates so that they could drink them as soon as they came out. The food is delicious. Coconut Cream Pie - 5 stars, best coconut cream pie we've had outside of Hawaii. It is made with fresh ingredients and real sugar. Perfect balance of coconut filling to fresh whipped cream. Cinnamon roll - 5 stars, very large, light and fluffy Very berry French toast - 4 stars - my husband and daughter really liked this one, the filling has the consistency of yogurt, which I wasn't a huge fan of Avocado Toast - 3.5 stars, my husband wished that both sides of the toast were seasoned and toasted. The avocado is just sliced, not mashed and seasoned so, while it was good, it wasn't what we normally think of as avocado toast read more

I went during lunch time on a Friday, maybe 4 other groups in there dinning in. So it wasn't busy at all which i love! First thing i noticed was the coziness and warmth of the place. Maybe 4 seconds after i walked in i was greeted by a sweet girl. It was decorated with Christmas decorations. I was told this place gives off cute and cozy grandma's house for Christmas so you know i had to go check it out. I saw only 2 employees, 1 bartender and 1 waitress but no one ever had to wait for anything. They were always moving and making sure their tables were good which i can appreciate. Once my food was ready another employee brought it to me from the kitchen, and she was so sweet as well. She explained to me how they have an unlimited salad bar when you order a salad from the menu. The music was this 80s to 90s disco playlist with a mix of Christmas music in there. I LOVED it!!! Great vibe. When my order came i was shocked at how big the pancake really was. Even though I've seen pictures of it, i still didn't think it would be that big! It tasted pretty awesome, my eggs were sunny side up, the sausage was cooked perfectly, the maple syrup tasted homemade, and the pancake..... well i demolished it!! I will definitely come back and tell others to try this place! read more

I came alone and thought it would be nice to dine at the bar. When I sat down I wasn't greeted with a smile. The bar tender look at me perplexed. I asked for a menu and he said I wasn't able to sit. I have never been to a bar that wasn't open seating. I travel the world as a FA and I have never been treated so ugly. I was embarrassed, felt unwelcome and almost left in tears. Luckily Rosewild was across the street and I got much better service. It's clearly not a Fargo thing but definitely a Marge's Diner thing. They need to make everyone feel included. read more

The best part about this place is the ambience. It's decorated like the movie Fargo and there are so many fun things to look at while you are. Our food took 45-50 minutes to arrive - which seemed a little long for brunch - but maybe there just backed up that day. read more

This is your grandmas retro, throwback kitchen! The decor was 70s like with all the knick knacks & design. We were seated immediately and our server was very friendly! She checked back often enough and filled water when she noticed we were low. The food was so hearty and huge portions! The country fried steak was a little salty for me, but overall was very flavorful. I will go back again on my next Fargo adventure! read more

The food, service, and ambiance were perfect for our Sunday brunch. The breakfast lasagne is highly recommended.

You cannot call it a coffee bar if the coffee sits unfilled for a half an hour. Later, they added $100 to our guest check. Our $40 breakfast became $140. read more

Marge's Diner - The bar - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Fargo, North Dakota

Ate lunch with family today. My daughter had the french toast weekend special that had yogurt on it, was an interesting idea and not bad. Her boyfriend had a burger and said it was good, said it reminded him of the burgers you would get in the old diners. I ordered the fried chicken on a biscuit. Was very disappointing; it was a thin pounded chicken breaded and very dry. The biscuit was small, thin, and overcooked also. There was a SMALL drizzle of honey on the biscuit but not enough to save the lunch. The few times I have not eaten what I had ordered I get asked why, but there was no acknowledgement that the meal was poor. read more

Their pancakes are the best. Always top notch service! Been there 5 times and never disappointed!! Great work!

I was excited to try Marge's. I had heard about it on the radio a few months ago. One of the things they touted was the Salad bar. I felt today would a great day to give the salad bar a shot since I was just wandering around town just waiting on my daughter and her friend to finish shopping. I arrived at 1:40 pm. Well before the 3pm closing time. I ordered the salad bar and a coke. When I went to the salad bar it was picked over but I was able put together a small salad and went back to my seat. I ask my waitress if she could refill the cottage cheese and ham. She said "Maybe. The salad bar closes at 2". **She actually did refill those two items but I could tell she was annoyed** I then went to get some soup. I had to scrape the bottom of the broth to get any meat and was lucky to get a piece of vegetable and I think I even got a potato. The soup probably would have tasted pretty good had their been some. The biggest annoyance was not being made to feel welcome and that I was a pain for ordering the salad bar so late in the day. I will say the second waiter who kind of noticed I was being ignored was nice and polite and ended up closing me out. I usually give a business two shots before making my final decision. I am not sure Marge's will be getting a second try from me. read more

Marge's just became my new favorite in downtown Fargo! The decor has serious vintage vibes, all the oranges and browns and golds of the 70s, with collections of glassware, salt and pepper shakers, and decorative plates like they cleaned out my grandma's kitchen! We stopped in for breakfast and found a good selection of classic diner options with good sized portions. Weekend brunch menu looked amazing, with some unique dishes and a mimosa or Bloody Mary bar--will definitely have to drop in next time we're in town! read more

Tl;dr: Small town diner feel, with great food and pleasant staff. Has a very old school/small town diner feel. The coffee mugs are a random hodge-podge collection, and you can serve yourself. The chairs are all mis-matched, and I'm pretty confident the booths are old Church pews. I can't overstate how awesome the vibe is in this place. It feels like the embodiment of the anti-corporate diner. Instead of everything being bland and devoid of any life, everything feels well worn and lived in without being dirty. I had the Biscuits and Gravy, and while the gravy wasn't the color I'm used to the taste was absolutely phenomenal. Having been born and raised in the south, I'm always hesitant to eat staples like that at restaurants around the area, but I was more than pleasantly surprised. I drink my coffee black, and it was very smooth and enjoyable without the over-brewed incredibly bitter taste that most places have. Service was great as well! Food came out quickly enough that I didn't feel the wait was too long, but not so fast that it felt like they had it ready before I sat down. The waiter came by and checked on my table a few times, not enough to feel bothered but just enough to feel welcomed. Overall, I absolutely loved my experience and look forward to eating here again. If you're someone who loves the sterile, everything matches, bland corporate eating experience this is not for you. Otherwise, you can eat here with confidence! read more

If you are over 60 you are not welcome at Marge's Diner. You will not be served unless you have a cell phone with a scanning app. They clearly do not want older people in their restaurant. Walk across the street to the hotel. read more

Food was good. Retro place like being at Grandma's house. Hangover Hash was great.

I wish I was kidding, but what you can't even make this sh!t up If you want to see how inefficient an operation can be and how incompetent a wait staff can be, come in on a Sunday morning. Guarantee you will be waiting 20 min just to get your name on the wait list after you have to assertively go up to the bar to get your name on the list. You'll state at an open table before it's seated. Suggest have some snack with your or have a little food before you come to this diner. Definitely not recommend coming here hungry. If you go in with more than just yourself, be prepared to have the waitress ask you what you want to drink before you get a chance to sit down and only take one person's order and then forget half of it. Again, the level of inefficiency and incompetency is mind blowing. read more

My Mom and I went here for lunch just before Christmas. They're ironing out a few kinks (they need more help, just like everyody else these days) so the service was slow but the workers were kind. I had the Hangover Hashbrowns and my Mom had The Pancake. Mine was delicious but guys, can we talk about this pancake for a second? It fills the entire plate and it. Is. Amazing. I would love this recipe because it's the most flavorful pancake I have ever had (and I lived in LA where The Griddle is a pancake institution). I'm not even a huge pancake lover but I promise I will go back when I'm home for my next visit because it's January 6th and I'm still thinking about that pancake. read more
