I'm eating my way through Fargo and it's great. I've decided that I'm going to add a PR factor rating, it's important. So PR factor, for the young lady who took our name and amount of our party is a 1. Learn to be friendly, period. Thanks goodness an older person stepped in to take over. The first time that we tried to eat here, it was a no go. The same young lady, using the same monotone, unfriendly tone, said "yeah you're looking at 35 or more minute wait", then turned away from us. Ok thanks. The inside is wood tones. In the lobby are items that show a championship for their bbq sauce. To me it has a cowboy/western kind of thing and it works. In the dining room are many tables and booths and it's comfy. There is also a bar in place, if you prefer going there. Fast forward to last evening. We were in at about 5:15. We had about a 15 minute wait. The amount of people entering and leaving is huge. I saw couples and a lot of big tables in place. I saw servers hoofing it all over the place, talk about busy. No one sits idle here. Ah the food...I'm telling you someone is seriously doing something right here. Our server showed up promptly and was great. Kudos to Grace, you're doing a good job! I ordered the bbq brisket wrap with fries, my husband ordered the sirloin with a side of beans and a side salad. I had tea and a Guinness for him. The drinks came out quickly, along with my husband's side salad. I almost ordered the side salad as one of my sides but I'm glad I didn't because it was really a big size for being a side. My husband said it was fresh and tasted great. Out came our meals. The wrap actually kind of reminded me of a chimichanga, it was grilled on the outside and it was so good, I'm used to wraps not being grilled, but I really liked this. The brisket was melt in your mouth good and had just the right amount of bbq sauce, along with grilled onions that were sweet and delicious. The fries were good, nothing special, but just good. My husband was definitely pleased with his steak, juicy and grilled to perfection. He said the beans were great. Our server checked on us multiple times, along with handling other tables, her service was appreciated. For the two of us it was about 66.00 dollars without tip. Just an fyi, if you use a credit card, you will be charged a 3% surcharge to offset processing costs. This place is hugely popular and I can see why. It's got it going on with good food, great service and a nice ambiance going on. So would I come back here? Of course, it's just a good place. We'll be back for sure. read more

We stopped in on a snowy tuesday afternoon and found the restaurant fairly empty. The service was prompt but not overly friendly. The food was good but not overly impressive, a good meat fix to fill a craving. Absolutely better than I could make on my own. We are here for lunch on a Saturday, and thankfully the temperature was perfect for the patio. It seemed like there was just one server, Courtney, for many tables, but even at that she was friendly and good at juggling everything from taking orders, bringing checks, keeping everyone's waters filled - impressive! All the food we had was solid. My son had brisket with a side of rice and he loved it and was glad the meat was not loaded down with sauce. I had the chicken wrap, which was tasty but could've had a lot more chicken in it, especially for the $17 price (it was mostly lettuce). The good was beer. Coming from Texas you gotta scale back your enthusiasm for the brisket. Coming from the Carolinas ditto for the ribs. I had both. We decided to take our 21 year old college son here for his birthday. I received feedback on Fargo Eats Facebook group as the place to go for steak. I ordered knopla soup. It was ok. Also had cobb salad with brisket topping. I've never had a salad where I'm expected to mix it myself. There must have been 2 huge cups of shredded cheese on the side. What a waste. The brisket was very disappointing as it was dry. I brought it home for the dog. My son had walleye and shrimp. He gave me a broiled shrimp and it was good. My son did not want his first beer. First, this place smells SO good. Enter when starving at your own risk! We had the Texas Eggrolls to start and I'd 100% recommend them. So. Freaking. Good. I had The Boss Burger - beef, smoked provolone, crispy onions, bacon and a raspberry glaze. YUM!! Side salads are quite large; potentially shareable, depending on your appetite. We had a few hiccups in service. Our waitress was visibly upset, and it appeared as if a member of her team had let her down, which resulted in poor service for us. Spitfire continues to be my favorite restaurant in the Fargo/Moorhead area. Having lived in Fargo for a good portion of my life this is a must stop when I make it back to visit family. The ambiance is great for anything from an intimate date night to group dinners, or just a quick casual bite to eat. The food is always amazing. My personal favorite is the spitfire pasta, but I have never had a bad item. BBQ, rotisserie chicken, or pasta you really cannot make a bad choice. We were going to go to Boston's, but the parking lot was nearly empty and Spitfire's was packed, so we decided to try it instead. We were seated fairly quickly and got our drinks. We ordered a half BBQ flatbread which was decent. I prefer thinner crusts, but it was ok. I also felt like it could have used some more flavor and toppings, but I should have paid more attention to the menu. My son ordered a cheeseburger, which he liked. I ordered the steak & shrimp meal with a side of steamed vegetables- I asked if I could just get steamed broccoli and was told no, that it's a medley. We stopped in at 8pm on a Monday evening hoping for a quick delicious meal and were sadly disappointed. The waitress was friendly and efficient but the food was absolutely awful. The lil sizzlers we ordered as an app somehow managed to have burnt chicken, soggy peppers and undercooked congealed bacon. They were dripping grease and were completely inedible. Our waitress had the kitchen remake them and the end result was the same. Entree of steak and shrimp (which I remember fondly from previous visits over a year ago) was one of the worst meals I've ever been served. The shrimp was barely warm and sitting in a vat of cooling butter, the medium steak was a dry grey hockey puck and the mixed veggies appeared to have been boiled in water and cooking oil until they lost their natural consistency and flavor altogether. We were one of the first tables arriving for lunch and sat in the bar. Our server was so unpleasant, didn't ask how we were put the menus down and got a drink order. We ordered an appetizer because I said I needed just 2 minutes to decide on my main course. We were not able to put that in until our appetizer came. The person that brought the eggs rolls, which were the best thing we had, wasn't very pleasant either. Our main dishes, the spitfire pasta and the turkey sandwich were mediocre at best.
