We are here for lunch on a Saturday, and thankfully the temperature was perfect for the patio. It seemed like there was just one server, Courtney, for many tables, but even at that she was friendly and good at juggling everything from taking orders, bringing checks, keeping everyone's waters filled - impressive! All the food we had was solid. My son had brisket with a side of rice and he loved it and was glad the meat was not loaded down with sauce. I had the chicken wrap, which was tasty but could've had a lot more chicken in it, especially for the $17 price (it was mostly lettuce). We decided to take our 21 year old college son here for his birthday. I received feedback on Fargo Eats Facebook group as the place to go for steak. I ordered knopla soup. It was ok. Also had cobb salad with brisket topping. I've never had a salad where I'm expected to mix it myself. There must have been 2 huge cups of shredded cheese on the side. What a waste. The brisket was very disappointing as it was dry. I brought it home for the dog. My son had walleye and shrimp. He gave me a broiled shrimp and it was good. My son did not want his first beer. First, this place smells SO good. Enter when starving at your own risk! We had the Texas Eggrolls to start and I'd 100% recommend them. So. Freaking. Good. I had The Boss Burger - beef, smoked provolone, crispy onions, bacon and a raspberry glaze. YUM!! Side salads are quite large; potentially shareable, depending on your appetite. We had a few hiccups in service. Our waitress was visibly upset, and it appeared as if a member of her team had let her down, which resulted in poor service for us. The Texas egg rolls were excellent particularly the flavor of their bbq sauce. I also had the walleye which was a large portion but possibly fried too long. The waitress was very punctual and polite and we were able to pick our own table to sit at. The atmosphere was dark but relaxed and very quiet. Spitfire continues to be my favorite restaurant in the Fargo/Moorhead area. Having lived in Fargo for a good portion of my life this is a must stop when I make it back to visit family. The ambiance is great for anything from an intimate date night to group dinners, or just a quick casual bite to eat. The food is always amazing. My personal favorite is the spitfire pasta, but I have never had a bad item. BBQ, rotisserie chicken, or pasta you really cannot make a bad choice. We were going to go to Boston's, but the parking lot was nearly empty and Spitfire's was packed, so we decided to try it instead. We were seated fairly quickly and got our drinks. We ordered a half BBQ flatbread which was decent. I prefer thinner crusts, but it was ok. I also felt like it could have used some more flavor and toppings, but I should have paid more attention to the menu. My son ordered a cheeseburger, which he liked. Daughter's kids cheese flatbread was also ok. Our favorite item was the crispy chicken sandwich with jerk sauce and coleslaw. Looking back I wish we would have tried some of the bbq. Server/bartender was nice and attentive. Made a good martini! The food was meh. The chicken & wild-rice soup was really good and was the star of the night. I ordered the steak & shrimp meal with a side of steamed vegetables- I asked if I could just get steamed broccoli and was told no, that it's a medley. Which was fine, but when my plate came out it was 90% carrots and pea pods and 2 pieces of broccoli. Little disappointed, but that's personal preference. The shrimp were good, decent size. The steak was like a crispy hockey puck. It was burned on the outside and medium rare on the inside. I am a business traveler. Here are my notes. I noticed plenty of parking. It was a popular place too, so I thought they must have good food. Also, a lot of guests were dining for dinner. To confirm my thoughts. I had a sit in the bar. Nice, they have plenty of television. Service was quick. The bartender, let me taste a local brewery. I ordered that beer plus the walleye and grilled shrimp. My server was excellent. I appreciate his patience. He offered cook prep suggestions. I went with that. We stopped in at 8pm on a Monday evening hoping for a quick delicious meal and were sadly disappointed. The waitress was friendly and efficient but the food was absolutely awful. The lil sizzlers we ordered as an app somehow managed to have burnt chicken, soggy peppers and undercooked congealed bacon. They were dripping grease and were completely inedible. Our waitress had the kitchen remake them and the end result was the same. Entree of steak and shrimp (which I remember fondly from previous visits over a year ago) was one of the worst meals I've ever been served. The shrimp was barely warm and sitting in a vat of cooling butter, the medium steak was a dry grey hockey puck and the mixed veggies appeared to have been boiled in water and cooking oil until they lost their natural consistency and flavor altogether. We were one of the first tables arriving for lunch and sat in the bar. Our server was so unpleasant, didn't ask how we were put the menus down and got a drink order. We ordered an appetizer because I said I needed just 2 minutes to decide on my main course. We were not able to put that in until our appetizer came. The person that brought the eggs rolls, which were the best thing we had, wasn't very pleasant either. Our main dishes, the spitfire pasta and the turkey sandwich were mediocre at best. Pasta was over cooked and there was hardly turkey stacked high on the sandwich. I wish the host had asked how everything was on the way out I would have had no problem telling her. This place was packed when we arrived, but there were open tables in the bar. My colleague and I were in Fargo for one night on business. Our server was good and gave us space to look at the menu. I got a half order of the Chicken Pesto Spinach flatbread and a side salad, my colleague got the Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and asked to add veggies. The flatbread was packed with toppings and very delicious. The pasta was light on the veggies but also yummy- the portion was huge!
