Upper Crust Pizza is a good spot if you want a quick bite. Their team is nice and food comes out quick. However, the price is high and the quality isn't. Their slices are $10 with a drink plus an extra $1 per topping which seems real steep even for a large slice. If the food was made fresh, I think I would be okay with paying that much given the portion size but they clearly par bake all of their slices as cheese and then add all the toppings. Spending almost $30 for two slices with ranch and drinks you don't want isn't that great. I think they own a few other places in town like Arizona Pizza Company and I know these spots have always par baked slices. However, at this location you can see they just sit out on a baking sheet (not sure for how long) which makes them taste a bit stale, your expensive extra toppings fall right off, and makes me a bit worried about the food safety. Overall, there are cheaper spots in town to grab a slice with better quality. read more

Finally got the chance to try Upper Crust Pizza and it didn't disappoint. We ordered the Buffalo Chicken pizza and enjoyed it. The staff was friendly. An iconic local spot, this was my first time eating at Upper Crust. It's simple, really, walk up, order a GIGANTIC slice, get a soda or a beer, consume, be happy. With a small, but clean with a fun interior, Upper Crusts offers slices that are surprisingly delish! Super crispy crusts and HUGE portions - they have salads and other good eats, but those will be for next time. I normally don't leave long reviews, but this experience was bad enough that customers and management need to be aware. During my recent visit, the pizza maker showed zero professionalism and zero sanitation. He used his phone while standing at the pizza-making station and never washed his hands afterward. He wasn't wearing gloves at any point, and I didn't see him wash his hands a single time during our visit. This is serious as some people have extreme allergies and cross-contamination can really send them to the hospital. Our slices came from a stack of pre-made "cheese pizzas" sitting on the counter. When we ordered pepperoni and mushrooms, they just threw the toppings on top--no additional cheese and the mushrooms were completely uncooked and still cold. The cashier who helped us was very sweet and understanding, but as soon as the pizza maker heard that we asked to have the slices cooked longer, he immediately got defensive. I heard him say--with attitude--that we'd be charged for extra cheese (which we were fine with). We at least wanted a pizza with toppings that actually were cooked together and mixed in within the cheese. He kept complaining to another worker with dreads, saying things like we "clearly haven't been here before" and that "this is just how they serve their pizza." We have been here before, and the food was never like this. Keep in mind the price of the items. Little Caesar would have at least given a fully cooked fresh pizza. When the slices came out of the oven, he said, "Let's see if this makes them happy," but didn't even bother checking if everything turned out okay afterward. For someone in food service and customer service, this is unacceptable behavior. I honestly felt bad for the cashiers who have to deliver this to customers. Management seriously needs to address the sanitation issues and the attitude coming from the kitchen staff. Experiences like this will drive people away. Definitely not coming back. read more

The mozzarella was perfectly seasoned. Now for the pizza de resistance. The Cheese pizza had the perfect amount a sauce to cheese ratio. When folded the right amount of flop to stiff dough exists, with a little bit of oil drip. This is the closest to NYC pizza you'll find in the lower 48. Prices are more than fair for the quality and portions size. This store deserves 5 stars, no questions asked. read more

Came in on a Sunday afternoon for a quick lunch. We walked in and were able to order immediately. Within 10 minutes we were served fresh garlic knots, they had the best garlic flavor that wasn't overwhelming. The flavors really brought out the freshness of the bread. After that our pizza by the slice was brought out. They were massive slices that can easily be shared between two people. I really love a pizza shop that sells by the slice. So much easier to stop in more often and get fresh slice of pizza!! The shop also had big screen tvs on the walls that were showing the football games. I had lunch here with two friends yesterday. We shared a 14" chicken parmesan pizza and had a quarter of it left over to take home. All of us liked it. The bill came to $33 including tax and tip, or $11 each. This is a counter service place. This is just a review for their slice special, no other menu items. I'd been driving by this place for decades and finally took the plunge to go in. Not sure why it took so long but when driving by it always seems kind of out of the way practically as I'm heading East. As others said, the parking is tricky. It's a small lot and things were made worse by the Shamrock Farms delivery truck blocking off half the lot. Fun. Without that issue there appears to be enough parking in back. Pro tip: You can access the parking lot from the rear street so if you're heading south on Campbell just turn left before the light at Grant. Overall my experience was just OK from the food to the shop itself. I got the slice and drink combo with 2 toppings for $10.65 including tax. It's a good price for the size of the slice and free refills on the fountain soda machine. The slice itself was just average to me. I hate to rate a pizza shop on their slice pie as it's usually different from a full pizza, yet here we are. The sauce, cheese, toppings, and crust all weren't bad, but nothing stood out, either. There's no hook to it. Perfectly mid-range in every way. It's hard to find slice pizza in Tucson so I'd recommend you head in and make your own opinion. A funky local pizza joint that can make any type of pizza you're looking for. Menu is a bit confusing but you can order a enormous piece of pizza any flavor you want. (the menu says a cheese pizza with drink but you can make the flavor anything you want) The chicken BBQ pizza I ordered was ginormous; good flavors but needed a bit more sauce in my opinion to pair with the extensive pizza crust. Still my favorite pizza in Tucson. One of the only places that makes their own dough and sauce. I've tried pizza all over Tucson, and Upper Crust at Grant and Campbell is always the best by far. You pay a little more, but it's great pizza. I suggest the whole pizza with only one or two toppings at most. They spend money on better quality ingredients and it shows. I've never been to Upper Crust Pizza so I decided to try it. I purchased a large cheese pizza. I sat where the televisions were at but noticed individuals who ordered before me were getting their food first. They said it would take 20-25 minutes but it took an hour to get my order. Reason being the person making the pizza apparently called out my name but I was in the other room far from where the pizza is made so I couldn't hear the cook. Nor did the cooks co-workers come into the other room to call out my name. Pizza just sat waiting I guess for customers to come to the front to ask.
