I took a chance on this place for lunch and I'm thrilled that I did. What a fantastic experience. A traditional family owned east coast deli experience. So many delicious things to choose from - bagels, smoked fish, various salads, meats, cheeses, and more. I picked up the corned beef hash (excellent, but would like a bit more crisp), and a salami sandwich on a Supreme bagel (very tasty; a perfect bagel packed high with toppings, but difficult to eat). I ordered online for pick up and immediately headed to the store. My order was ready when I arrive (within 10 minutes of ordering). I would be back in a heartbeat if I lived closer.

Easily being added to my Chicagoland top bagels shortlist to visit! Upper Crust Bagels is a small bagel and deli shop that has some mighty good flavors. I visited on a Sunday, late morning, and didn't have to wait long at all to order. The staff hustle to turn orders around to free up space inside. I ordered the Bacon, Egg & Cheese on a Sesame bagel and my fiancé ordered the Herbed Multigrain with Lox Cream Cheese. While the filling may not look to be a lot, the flavor really burst to life while eating. I will be thinking of my Bacon, Egg & Cheese bagel all week; it was that good! We both left feeling impressed by the fresh flavors, speedy service, variety of flavors/offerings, and down to earth staff. I highly recommend checking out Upper Crust Bagels at either their Northbrook or Deerfield locations. You will NOT to disappointed!

This place is hustling and bustling on a Sunday morning. We always saw this place from the outside and didn't look like much, but when you get inside it's a whole other world. Tons of options of bagels and fillings, including lox and onions, chorizo, eggs and cheese, etc. They also sell fish and deli meats by the weight - feels like you're in New York City or something. We got the chorizo eggs and cheese breakfast sandwich, which was delicious. The lox and onions sandwich was good too but maybe even better deconstructed to really taste the lox. All in all, we want to try this place again soon - so many options!

The best in Chicagoland. Great service, bagels, and lox. Upper Crust has been a staple in my family for years. Looking forward to coming back!

Einstein Bros., A bajers-dozen bagels (13) are $14, and 6 bagels with a half pound of lox cream cheese, $12.

I'm sorry, I'm done. Long-time Upper Crust customer almost gagged this morning seeing the establishment raised it's prices. A dozen bagels, TWELVE BAGELS, now $17.50. That's more expensive than Once Upon A Bagel in HP. Maybe their using small diamonds rather than sesame seeds now? Unless consumers write it call, day something, you can expect a $20 dozen pretty soon. Blew family out of your door gang. Sorry, not sorry. The Baker's Dozen from Einstein Brothers at $14, are far better bagel at a far better price.

A hidden gem in Deerfield for fresh & delicious bagels. This local shop serves deli, bagels, cookies, amazing banana bread, breakfast sandwiches & more! I ordered a Bacon, Egg & Cheese on an Egg bagel, Cinnamon Raisin bagel with Strawberry cream cheese & Cucumber, Tomato, Red Onion & Scallion Cream Cheese on a Onion bagel. They were all delicious & had the perfect amount of cream cheese & toppings. The service & staff are great, make sure to get there early because it gets packed!

My husband and discovered this place early afternoon this past Saturday. I wasn't sure what to think, because it's a bit of a hole in the wall with the entrance at the back of the building. It's a small space with tons of local traffic flowing in and out. Several reviewers have said that the staff is rude, I'd just call it indifferent. It was hard to catch the eye of anyone to place an order. My husband and I ordered breakfast sandwiches - I ordered the turkey pastrami with egg and cheese on a whole wheat herb bagel and he had the brisket with egg and cheese on an everything bagel. Now think about it, they didn't toast the bagels or ask if we wanted them toasted - I guess we will have to request this next time. The bagels were very good and the meats on the sandwiches were tasty as well. The establishment was busy and a big confusing as to who was in line or being helped. We made it through though, and did enjoy our mid-morning breakfast. Out breakfast sandwiches were around $6 each, but their other regular sandwiches run around the ten dollar mark. They have a variety of meats and deli salads to choose from, bagels and Challah, and a few sweets like black & white cookies and rugelach.

I've been here 9 years and never knew this place was here, what a hidden gem. Stopped by midday on a Saturday to grab brunch. I opted for the corned beef egg cheese on an everything bagel, it was delicious. This place I would say is NY style, and does a swift business based on traffic in and out. I parked just outside the shop at one of the table chairs provided and enjoyed my meal in nice weather. There are plenty of yummy options to consider for future visits.

"The Sesame" is a delicious Turkey and Swiss sandwich.

Annoyed from the service. Had others enter after me and were served first. So I left. Will just go to Once Upon a Bagel in HP from now on.

My experience with this location was not good. We placed an order online. It was placed a little over an hour before the scheduled pickup time since I was heading to the suburbs for an errand and would pick it up on the way back home; pickup time was 8:30. My errand took a bit longer so but I arrived around 8:40 for pickup (at Once Upon a Grill; they must get it a lot because they pointed me to the Deli). When I got to the Deli and let them know I was picking up an order I placed the man looked confused, asked if I placed an order, then walked down and looked at something and said to give him a few minutes, during which they cooked my order. So the order placed an hour before pickup was 20 minutes late because they don't check their system. I learned later that they open at 8-about 40 minutes after the order was placed--but whatever system they use has controls for when to take orders and when to stop online order taking. If they're going to allow folks to place orders before the shop opens for pickup after, they need to either update the schedule for the online ordering system to not accept orders before opening, or they need to look and see what if anything has come in. Really disappointing because this made me running late for work. And it wasn't helped at all by the attitude of the folks working there. Not a sorry, not an excuse or explanation, nothing. And even with that indifference I was going to buy a dozen bagels and some cream cheese, but the guy just tossed my order on the counter when it was done without a word. So, I left. There are better bagels elsewhere anyway.

Today's visit to QUAD served 2 purposes.  As my AA miles were about to expire, I went on the AAdvantage Dining website to find a restaurant that is affiliated with the program, so that I could spend some money there so as to earn some miles before the deadline, in order to prevent my hard-earned miles from expiring.  That's the main purpose of me going to Once Upon a Deli! Of course, I went there also because of the food!  The deli was clean, and seemed very well-stocked and carried a great variety of deli food and ingredients.  The staff were very friendly and helpful.  I ordered the food to-go.  It was in the early afternoon, and I was delighted that they still happily made me an All American Breakfast Sandwich. You can pick any ways for the eggs to be cooked, and the kind of meat and cheese.  I had sunny-side-up eggs, sausage, and Swiss cheese (they ran out of Mozzarella cheese as it was already after one O'clock) on an all season bagel. There was so much yummy food!  The staff told me that they left the sandwich opened in 2 halves because the eggs were not fully cooked. That was pretty thoughtful of them.  I also ordered a raisin bagel with strawberry cream cheese. It was toasted to perfection, with a nice crispiness on the outside, and the right kind of chewiness inside. That's what a perfect bagel should be!  It had a slight sweetness because of my fruity choices.  The bagel was big and was packaged very well. I read that people had driven long distance to OUAD for their bagels.  We are so lucky that it's only a 5-to-6-minute drive from home.  I will definitely come back for more bagels.  We will try more different items from their vast menu too!  Next time, it will just be for good food, and won't be for AA miles!

The corned beef was good, but they asked me if I wanted it on Rye or a roll and I asked for Rye. Unfortunately, I took it to go so by the time I got home and realized it was on white bread, which in all my years I've never had a corned beef sandwich on white bread. The sandwich I got looked nothing like the sandwiches on their website. The website shows large portions of corned beef, and other meats, that was far from what I got. I usually enjoy having half the sandwich now and half the sandwich for another meal. Let's just say I ate the corned beef!! I ordered a side of coleslaw and had two bites of it and realized it may have been sitting too long. It was definitely not coleslaw that I am accustomed to from a deli. Overall, the service was fabulous. The people there are very nice, but this sandwich shop is expensive and doesn't really give you what you are expecting.

When looking for a place to sit, the entire restaurant was empty and we wanted to sit on the side where there were booths. However, we couldn't sit there because the section was roped off and it looked like the employees were using the space for themselves since a cell phone was plugged in and sitting on the table. So, my friend and I picked a space on the other side of the restaurant. That's when we noticed how dirty the place was to the point of it being disgusting. The napkin holders were covered in dust as were the edges of the seating areas. The floor was covered with dirt and crumbs. There were even cobwebs under some of the chairs. We decided to stay since catching up with each other was more important and the table itself seemed clean. The employee brought out our food, which I forgot to take a photo of since I was creeped out by the condition of the place.
