Get here early and you will be rewarded. The everything "supreme" bagel is great but they're all super fresh and fantastic if you get there early enough. However you like your bagel, they make it well. That said, their breakfast sandwiches crush it. I used to love the corned beef hash, but I stopped eating red meat. I was worried that they would not make turkey as well, but the turkey pastrami breakfast sandwich put my mind and stomach at ease. It is awesome. I like it even more. 5 to 6 is happy hour. 5.09 for a bakers dozen. This is pretty much as good of a price as I know for bagels (real bagels, not the Panera junk which is just a roll with a hole). I have been coming to Upper Crust since they first opened their doors. The family that runs UC is wonderfully friendly, never failing to greet me with enthusiasm and a smile. The hand-cut nova made my stingy-with-the-praise New Yorker cook friend nearly weep with praise. It is the best both of us have ever had. And the supreme egg bagels? Sublime. My go-to spot for bagels and the fixings on the north shore. These are not chewy white-bread bagels that haven't been boiled. Upper Crust bagels have the crunchy exterior and perfectly done inside. Can't speak for the sandwiches but the variety is great - salt, garlic, pumpernickel, chocolate chip - you name it. Cream cheese options as well and a couple choices of salmon and salads. You can be a traditionalist or go a little off the beaten path. Lines can grow on Sunday morning but you can order ahead. I also find the counter staff helpful and quick. BTW, if you need to please a crowd with choices, you can always pick up some donuts or coffee cake at Deerfield Bakery which is about 300' away. read more

Two big differences from this bagel store and others are that the taste is better and the personal relationships are real. The taste is completely different from any other bagel I have had. If I was blindfolded I would be able to tell when a bagel is from Upper Crust vs. some other place. There is this fresh taste that makes it that much better. The personal relationships are built between the staff and their customers. If you are a first timer they take time to ask what your name is and when you return they welcome you by name. What really impressed me about this store was how fresh all of the deli items were! We ordered the very delicious Lox and cream cheeses along with sliced assorted bagels for 20 guests. I always love visiting NY... Wait, this isn't New York, it's Deerfield, IL! But the bagels? They are perfectly done... Chewy on the outside with a slight crunch and soft on the inside. If you like real bagels - with actual texture, not the glorified bread that the chains sell - this is your place. And don't just stop at the bagels, their hand-cut salmon is literally world class. They also have a great smoked salmon. When I'm not in a salmon mood they have a phenomenal sweet relish tuna salad that goes great on a salt bagel. Make sure to get a few of the mini bagels as well, my kids munch on those on the drive home. Lastly, they are efficient and move you through the store. Don't be concerned if you walk in and see a long line, they are always well staffed so the line moves quickly. There's nothing better than a fresh bagel. The cream cheese is great, and if you like flavors there are many different types to pick from. Also, you can get all your toppings and fish all in one stop. The fish is always fresh and I never have bad fish. Also, they hand-cut their lox, making it super thin. I had their Nitrate free lox and let me just tell you...it was the best tasting lox I have ever had. Then I found out it also had no sugar...wow...really awesome.
