My absolute favorite bagel place. This is my to go to location. The guys working here are always super friendly and quick. The bagels are consistently very fresh and delicious. My go to is their Lox sandwich. Absolutely delicious always! They have a great selection of different bagels, lots of different flavors of cream cheese as well as tuna and egg salads and smoked fish. This is a nice grab and go place for bagels. It's a no frills place. They are a bit slow for the amount of staff they have, the prices are a bit much, but nonetheless, the bagel sandwich was pretty yummy. I got salmon Lox with garlic bagel. The bagel was perfectly chewy, balanced by the savoury lox. We also go the sausage egg and cheese on garlic bagel and that was a solid breakfast sandwich too. If we're in the area, we will stop by again. However, I don't think we'll go out of our way to come back. read more

Upper Crust's Bagel does not disappoint! Their Northbrook location is a bit smaller than Deerfield but has all the same delicious offerings! I got their Bacon, Egg & Cheese Sandwich on a Garlic Bagel. The sandwich never looks large but the flavors burst in every bite! The Garlic Bagel was the perfect choice for me but they have a bunch of sweet and savory options. My husband got the Corned Beef, Egg & Cheese Sandwich on a Supreme Bagel. I'm a sucker for a good bagel. Living in Chicago, I don't get up this way very often, but recently had the opportunity to pickup a sandwich and a dozen bagels. I got a tuna sandwich, they have the different kinds of tuna salad. The sandwich was pretty good and for that alone, I'd give it 3.5/4 stars. I also took home a dozen bagels. On their own, the bagels weren't great. I'm not sure if they were day old when I bought them, but they were very hard almost immediately. On the bagels alone, they're more like 2.5 stars. Overall, I'm glad I tried, but I won't be rushing back. There are better options closer to home and it doesn't hold a candle to New York Bagel and Bialy. read more

We were pleasantly surprised that they fried everything fresh for each sandwich since a lot of places just reheat pre made egg patties. I'd give their bagels alone a 4/5. Good flavor and very fresh, but lacking in some of the chew and texture that others have. However, the rest of the sandwich filling were super over salted yet lacking in flavor. My lox sandwich had an off putting slimy/watery texture. Put sandwiches would have benefitted from some spices, maybe a sauce, avocado, or cream cheese. They just needed a little something else besides over salted eggs. The portion size was pretty solid though! read more

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Upper Crust Bagels is the best restaurant in Northbrook. This unassuming bagel shop located in a strip mall off Dundee has real New York-style boiled bagels, as well as made-to-order breakfast sandwiches, cold cuts, lox, and various house-made salads. Their sausage, egg, and cheese is unreal. Bacon, egg, and cheese is a close runner-up. So freaking delicious. I'd have it for breakfast every morning if I could. The staff is polite and hard-working. Love this place! I come here at least once a week, if not more. My favorites: Wheat bagel with chive cream cheese, Supreme bagel with chive cream cheese and lox!!!! Chicken salad sandwich on sesame or garlic bagel. I have tried a sample of their tuna salad and it's pretty good too! I'm addicted to their lox! The lox is amazing here. I see people come in and get pounds of it. I asked Gilbert about their lox and he mentioned that they get it fresh from Brooklyn. Gilbert and one guy (forgot his name but he makes all the chicken salads, tuna salads, etc. and works Mondays) are great! They are always so welcoming and nice. They even know me by name! I had heard so much about this place I had to try it. I was really craving a New York style bagel. When I walked in I was immediately not impressed, it seemed dirty. I walked passed the case with all the salads and they looked awful. They obviously had been sitting and hadn't been stirred all day so they had that dry coating look to the top. Unappetizing. I ordered two everything bagels, one with chive cream cheese and one with butter. And two plain untoasted to go. That was $10.41. The cream cheese was ok, nothing special but it was a very light spread. Not like NYC. There was hardly any butter on the other bagel. The bagel itself was very under whelming. There was no chew. It could have been from the frozen section of the grocery store. Nothing stood out about it. I won't be going back. The bagel was pretty small too. read more

My grandparents have been coming to Upper Crust for years for their hand sliced lox and bagels. I decided to stop in and try one of their sandwiches. What a great place to grab bagels, bialy and sandwiches. I'm from NJ and these are east coast quality and delicious. The place is small with only 2 small tables so it's basically takeout. Ordered fish platter. Very disappointed. We ordered that very same platter before. It used to have a lot of fish - lox, sable etc. it was truly fish platter. Today I couldn't believe my eyes, for 10 people it had barely 2 lbs of fish. But everything was layered with ridiculous amount of green leaf lettuce, so much that you could barely find fish in it. And with that they put 3.5lbs of cream cheese! It should've been called a cream cheese and lettuce platter instead. And fish had skin with scales on it. A recent discovery for me. I'm not a big consumer of bagels but theirs are as good as Kaufman's in Skokie. Their tuna salad excellent. Always looking for tuna salad without raw onions or chunks of egg. They have one with relish that seems to be kind of blended/smooth and ties for first place with once upon a bagel in the yum factor. WOW am I glad I came across UCB! I visited this location specifically because their site brags about a smokehouse that they have here to smoke their own fish. And I'm not even a smoked salmon fan (the husband is). AND NOW I AM TOOOOO!!! I couldn't stop eating it. I topped my everything bagel w/ (my own) cream cheese and the salmon like a good woman should. And I have no regrets in life. They also have these awesome/adorable rainbow bagels that my kids went ape*sheeze* for! The day that I went they only had them in mini-bagel form, but I'm not sure they come in full size. Either way, I didn't have to fight my kids to come eat breakfast thanks to UCB. The bagels are "real" New York style bagels, and not the fake ones you find at the grocery store. They are OUTSTANDING! As a matter of fact, I have enjoyed everything I have tried from Upper Crust. I work from home and find the delivery option so convenient, especially now. I am so happy to have discovered Upper Crust, and will continue ordering from them. I really like this place....not far from where I work and it was a nice place...the food was quite tasty and filling, the service was quick and efficient. I do want to apologize if the manager should read this....I did take a few pics inside and this seemed to have made some of the staff concerned....the only reason i posted those were only to promote the business because I liked the store, the staff, the food and the service...so I guess I was really wanting to let others know..because I believe if smething is awesome in service should be recognized.
