Terrific bagels. Friendly staff. I used to go to Leonard's in Northbrook, which has terrific coffee cakes and cookies. But their bagels were missing that initial bite. Upper crust bagels are just a bit better. But order holiday bagels a week in advance because they stop taking orders. read more

Upper Crust Bagels is great. Today there was a line out the door for Mothers' Day. It was worth the wait, because as I served them back at home, I didn't toast the bagels like I usually would because they were still warm from the store. Really good Supreme bagels. You've gotta love Upper Crust Bagels. If you haven't already, try the ham, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich. They only serve these while the grill is on, so if you go later in the afternoon you may be disappointed. The pizza bagel is also great, but it is pre-packaged and takes close to 15 minutes for them to heat up. If you're willing to wait though, you can always walk next door to the Deerfield Bakery and pick up a snack while you wait. read more

This place is fabulous. Reasonably priced, the best bagels and "schmear" in the area. Their baked goods are also really yummy. Even when there is a line out the door (so worth the wait) the staff is working like crazy to not have you waiting to long. But plan to take your stuff somewhere else to eat. wish they would expand so that you could sit down if you wanted. And not at the one table by the door :) still, DEFINITELY recommend. read more

Best bagels in the Midwest, and I'm from the east coast where we know good bagels. Made fresh on site with a good variety. They also have a good selection of smoked fish and cream cheese. The owners are super nice. The are always giving back to the community. Best to place large orders in advance though, it can get pretty crazy on a holiday! read more

Upper Crust has the best bagels ever. Period. My favorite is the sesame skinny bagel. My husband and childrens' favorites are the regular sesame and supreme. Our children grew up eating these bagels. When they left for college we always brought a fresh baker's dozen when we visited. Then we even brought UP bagels when we visited one of them in Paris and the other in Amsterdam! Their breakfast sandwiches are delicious, too. I always like it when the brothers/owners are there. If I could give them 10 stars I would. read more

Been coming here for three years since I moved to the burbs. Wife and in-laws have been going forever. Best bagels in the north shore and in my opinion, the best lox anywhere (get the hand-cut). I come here weekly on weekend mornings to get bagels/lox, as well as tuna (they have three kinds; try the sweet relish), chicken salad, and egg salad. It's all delicious and fresh. Owners are supers friendly and know all the regulars. Highly, highly recommend. read more

Excellent tray of cheese & deli meat and fresh Lox platter. Abundance of food fed more than they said. Really Great bagels and especially the bialys which are tough to find. Trays looked and tasted terrific. Even my 5 year old grandson loved the tuna salad. Only issue is if you are using Google to find the northbrook location you might be directed to the Deerfield store without realizing it and order from the wrong location so ask which you are on with. No frills carry out. Neighborhood institution. Speedy service. Best bagels around. Right texture and flavor. Other good deli items (tuna, lox, etc). This is not full service deli. Go to Max & Bennys for that. Need a dozen to go and some cream cheese? Check. Hand sliced lox? Check. A quick egg sandwich? Check. The owners are on site. Awesome New York Style Bagels! Chewy, fresh and never let down. Bagel places are a dime a dozen on the North Shore but this one delivers. The cream cheese is just as fresh as the bagels, even though they don't even need it. Everytime I come here the service is fast, but friendly. I thought I had had bagels before but didn't know how good they could be until I came here. I went with a standard plain on plain and it was better than plain it was great. It had a shiny crunch on the exterior and was so chewy on the inside. You can tell they know what they're doing, the lox if you feel like more than a plain bagel is out of this world! Every time I come here whether its for a quick sandwich on my way to work or to grab a dozen to take somewhere I'm never disappointing. Another great note is whenever I'm getting a large amount they package the stronge smelling bagels separately and I don't have to ask. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten bagels from other spots and the cinnamon raisin land up tasting like garlic and smelling like onion. The only bad thing... Thomas' won't cut it for me anymore, especially when the staff aren't afraid to tell you which came out of the oven last and are still a little warm. I can't say enough great things about the quality in service and product. Always fresh and ready to deliver. read more
