The place was clean and had great energy. very easy to order. staff were nice and understanding. food came out absolutely amazing. i definitely recommend their ox tails as they are so good. their slushees are tasty and well priced. 10/10 highly recommend read more

Very quiet and fast service. Had the beef patty and it was so good, was debating if j should have one to go :). We also had 2 orders of the jerk chicken small with gravy, 1 had cabbage and the other one has salad. There was no plantain today but that was fine, we got our order in a timely manner. And we enjoyed every bite of the jerk chicken with just the right amount of spice. The sauce gave it that extra kick I will be going back here again and maybe trying the oxtail read more

I love supporting my island restaurants. Today must of been an off day for the kitchen. Ordered stew chicken and it was so salty. The beef patties were delicious, served as my backup. Disappointed on the stew but I'll give them chance again. Very good drinks at the bar, I'll add. read more

Best jerk chicken plate I've ever had everything is perfectly seasoned the meat is tender and juicy and the sides are all amazing as well!

Absolutely delicious stewed chicken rice and peas. Spicy. They forgot my plantains which I was excited to try for the first time. Overall food is amazingly authentic and fresh and quality. So satisfying!! Thank you Uppa Yard. read more

This place is an obvious gem and local favorite! I highly recommend trying it but do brace yourself with patience as the wait can be very long due to such good quality tasting food! read more

Amazing food served fresh and hot and flavorful. My go to for the best Jamaican food whenever I visit Milwaukee.

The food is the best. The service is terrific. Of course there is always a little wait so just have a laugh knowing you'll be feeling fine and stopping in again instead of driving by the next time . read more

The food here is pretty good as far as Jamaican food in Milwaukee is concerned. But the service is trash. Expect to wait an hour or more for your food. There are places with food just as good without the wait. I won't be going here anymore. read more

Love their food and very plentiful presentation is good and clean. Place of business is clean and safe. 4star

The jerk chicken was moist and not too salty it was seasoned to perfection. The meat pies where awesome. I will most certainly be back, the place was clean and modern. read more

I've driven past this intersection several times and it smelled AMAZING and I couldnt figure out why. This time I decided to drive around until I found the source of the smell. I walked in just as they were closing, and asked if it was too late to order food. They said no, so I ordered two Jerk Chicken dinners. I waited about 20 minutes for my food-- definitely a reasonable amount of time for fresh cooked food-- but when my order was ready I was informed they were out of "jerk sauce" so my chicken was dry. They apologized and offered me curry "gravy" instead. I took it home and put some store bought jerk sauce on it. It was still pretty good, but I assume it would have been a lot better. I am looking forward to trying them again and getting the full experience. read more

Ordered the jerk chicken twice and I can't get enough of their food. They don't answer the phone so forget about ordering in advance but once you get there and order your food it is worth the drive.l and wait. I would prefer to order ahead of time so all I have to do is pick up and leave. Will definitely order here again for a big party because the jerk chicken the goat and the curry shrimp is just that good. read more

waited over an hour and a half when I was told my order would take thirty minutes. kept being flakey about the time every time i asked. the food is good but not ever worth this. read more

I won't do too much but they need to get their shyt TOGETHER! Some of the women can be rude asffff answering the phone and placing you on hold forever. See I drive to businesses while still on hold and will watch to see how long they plan on leaving me on hold for. read more

Food is great! It authentic and delicious! But they need to be better prepared for the business they receive. You should never run out of food, which has happened a lot. read more

The wait time is ridiculous! There prices is getting higher and higher it's almost 30 for a plate. They is good but not good enough for me to almost pay 30.00.I went to the store an got 30 worth of oxtails gots some beans & rice an a head of cabbage an ate off of it for 3 days an got some jerk seasons for them. That way I got more for my money an had extra. read more

Food is decent. I love the oxtails though, they don't add the sauce on top of the chicken, they give it on the side and you'd have to add it yourself which I hate ! Food takes hourssssss read more

Take out at the upper yard. We had to wait 45 minutes for our order. And it was well worth it. The rice and beans were good with the right amount of texture. The chicken was nice in spicy but not overly hot. read more

Super flavorful, good Jamaican food. I don't think there is any other restaurant that compares so I'm happy to support them! I got the jerk chicken egg rolls (off menu) and the curry chicken which comes with rice and beans and cabbage. The portions were generous for the price. I don't think I waited longer than 10 minutes to pick up the food, though I wasn't there at a busy time. I believe the restaurant offers authentic Jamaican food too. read more

Authentic Jamaican cuisine. I've been craving Island food recently because I really need a vacation. I brought up my craving at work and a coworker told me about Uppa Yard. I stopped by around 7:45pm on a weeknight and there were few people in line to order. They have a dining area but everyone was ordering take out. The interior of the restaurant is fantastically bright, clean, and Jamaican. There is a large tv that was playing awesome Jamaican music videos during my visit. I ordered a large order of the curry chicken and jerk chicken. They have multiple sides and I opted for plantains and rice (it's a Caribbean red beans and rice mix). I only waited about 7 minutes before my order was ready. I must add that the men working were so friendly and funny. I took the food home and had a massive feast. The curry chicken was amazing!!! It was perfect and easy to separate from the bones. If you have never been to Jamaica (not the touristy area) or had real authentic food then please beware of the different style of cutting up meat. It is chopped, rather than carved, so bones are everywhere. Don't break a tooth!!! Anyway, I highly recommend the curry chicken. The plantains were perfect, I could have eaten 5 pounds of them. And I love, love, LOVE the rice and beans!!! The jerk chicken was also very good, however it was less spicy/zippy than other jerk chicken I have consumed (and made myself). It is a good option for someone new to Island food or not too fond of spicy food. Go ahead and get the large order. It is only a couple dollars more than the small and the leftover are fantastic! I would definitley return, and will likely stop by just for side orders of plantains and rice. read more

Friggin delicious. We had jerk chicken and jerk pork with rice/beans and cabbage. The meats were super tender with great smokey flavor. The gravy was a delicious addition to the rice, although I'd recommend ordering it on the side so you can control proportions (It was a bit salty). The service at the counter was super friendly and helpful, since I wasn't familiar with all the menu items. They were out of plantains which made me a sad panda, but everything we did have was really wonderful. The space inside is big enough that you can enjoy your feast comfortably there. Meager decor. There will probably be a line of people so don't come here in a hurry. read more

Uppa Yard - Jerk pork, only on Fridays. Really Really good. Champagne kola! - Caribbean Near Me - Milwaukee, Wisconsin

My only problem with this restaurant is the wait times. They now have fixed this, with online ordering thru an app! No complaints now. Their food is beyond amazing and fresh! read more

This is by far the most authentic Jamaican cuisine I've tasted since visiting the island! Really good food, we had the curry goat and jerk chicken! Very flavorful and with a kick of heat. 2nd time going and the food is consistent. They do run out items and not serve certain dishes on certain days, so be sure to utilize the site. read more

My go-to spot for authentic Jamaican food! I've visited Jamaica several times, and this is the restaurant that closest resembles REAL Jamaican food. The only Jamaican food I eat in the city of Milwaukee. I haven't had a chance to visit their new location. But I will very soon 5 Stars

Me & my mom order 2 oxtail plates i was Ina rush so I didn't check the food b4 I left... I got the large oxtail plates & I paid almost 30 dollars for it... it was not worth the price at all they gave me 3 little oxtails. My mom got the smaller plates & they gave her 4 oxtails I don't understand why they are charging more for less food. I called 3 times too see if that's how it came & they never answered. read more

I've been here about 10 times, food and serving size will differ each time for whatever reason. My last visit was very tasty, but the wait time is where it all starts to go south. If you want to call in to get your order sooner, forget about it. This place is notoriously horrible when it comes to customer service, or service in general. I called a total of 8 times on my drive there to put in my order, not once did anyone answer. When I finally did arrive, there was not a single customer in there, and the phone was still ringing off the hook. I placed my order in person and it took 20 whole minutes. Now for a place that had ZERO orders and no call ins, why would it take so long. Hopefully this is just a scheduling issue, but it can't be good for business. read more

food is great nbs but no reason to order and wait for over an hour this shit ridiculous

The best yard food you could eat other than going to the shops New York City. I went to that shop 4 times when I was in Milwaukee.

Good food just slow with the order better to call ahead so you don't have a long wait time

The wait is always long they did not get my order right, they did not put my jerk chicken in my bag and they never answer the phone

Never answers the phone. No parking. Front counter lady ALWAYS extremely rude. Told our food would be ready in 10-20 minutes and didn't receive it for an hour and a half with no remorse made incorrectly. Food extremely too salty. Asked for light gravy and given extra gravy on the oxtails AND rice (although we requested no gravy AT ALL on the rice). Plate full of rice and barely any oxtails. Oxtails extremely fatty. Not worth the price. Island Jam is much better. read more

First time going too this place. Ordered jerk chicken and curry chicken both in a large. They came with cabbage and beans and rice. Also order coco bread. I really wanted ox tails but they were out along with the plantains. Portions are good in size. Food seasoned well. My advice get there early too get what you really want. read more

At first I was a little iffy about visiting because of area but decided top go anyway. Nothing but people working on that block. Came into a very yellow Jamaican themed restaurant that I found pretty cool. The food was actually really really good, I really enjoyed it. I ordered the chicken curry with rice and cabbage and it was amazing! It was so delicious I could not stop eating and I wanted to just drink the juice curry sauce off the plate. They accept Visa debit or any other card if anybody's wondering. The staff was extremely kind And helpful. As I was leaving I forgot to wait for a bag and it was raining out. The lady yelled wait sir it's raining you don't want your food to get wet. All the cooks in the back look like they were somebody's grandmother or great aunt but they were older ladies and they were very good at it. read more

Jerk chicken was excellent the ox tales were kind of rubbery. Nice atmosphere didn't know about the bar and lounge area very nice

One best jamaican restaurants i have ever been too. I need my fix atleast 4x a week. There is literally not one dish that isnt good here

TL;DR - Go. You shouldn't be disappointed. Food flavor was exceptional and good value for the amount you get. People are friendly as long as you are. Leave your drama at home. Parking might be a challenge. So, hesitant to write this glowing review in fear that the next time I go, they'll be out of food like many other Jamaican joints are as it gets closer to closing time. Here's my biggest shock... that I had to go to Milwaukee to get the best Jamaican food I've had so far! I've had Jamaican food in Orlando, Minnesota, California, North Carolina, Atlanta, and a few other states that I can't think of right now but so far this is the best. The food - Large Oxtail plate with a side of Jerk Chicken. This is my typical go-to dish wherever I go. The Oxtail was tender and super flavorful and they didn't cut the bones in half to make it last longer. These were full on normal bone thickness pieces like buying from a grocery store. When you can scrape that little piece of cartilage from the ends of the bone, you have a winner. The Jerk was moist and flavorful. Not dry like some other places. Sauce was typical as other places but it's all about the skin anyway. Parking could be a challenge as it's off a main street and really there is no rear parking. Next time I'm traveling thru Milwaukee, I'm definitely headed back. read more
