The curry chicken and cabbage was good. I'll be back to try more of the menu like, the oxtails and beef short ribs

The jerk chicken was the best that I've encountered in the Milwaukee area with a heavy crust of jerk seasoning.

When I see people post on social media asking "what's the best place to get jerk chicken around…read moreMilwaukee", some of the names that usually pop up are Uppa Yard, Pepper Pot, and Island Jam. I had never even heard of Jamaican Season Island until I stopped at the new location for Big Daddy's BBQ & Soul Food nextdoor. On my visit I ordered a large jerk chicken plate and one jerk chicken egg roll. The egg roll was huge and had a good ratio of jerk chicken to cabbage, but that was literally all that was inside the egg roll as far as I can tell. I've had jerk chicken egg rolls from a few different places and I prefer the one from Uppa Yard or one from the Jamaican food truck Frankie's Restaurant and Catering because they contain other ingredients besides just jerk chicken and cabbage. I'd get theirs again, but I'm not rushing back for it. The only sides for the jerk chicken plate were cabbage and rice and beans. If I recall correctly, other places like Pepper Pot and Uppa Yard allow you to pick your sides, so that was slightly disappointing. I took one bite of the rice and beans and didn't want another. Something about the taste was off-putting. The cabbage was just plain cabbage so nothing special there. The large plate came with two leg and thigh quarters. The jerk chicken was fine. I prefer the chicken from Pepper Pot because it's white meat and they chop it into pieces that are easier to eat on the go. If I can get the chicken by itself without the sides for a cheaper price I may order it again, but if it only comes with the sides I'd rather go to Pepper Pot. When you enter the vestibule there's a window to order from because the inside doors are locked. It's a shame because the bar area looks nice and the vestibule gets cramped quicklyif there's four or more people waiting.

The beans and rice were undercooked, dry and not very well flavored. That was a surprise to me. The side of cabbage was a bit oily and also not very well flavored. Additionally, even though the printed menu has quite a few things on it, call ahead, because when we went, there was only chicken and pork on the menu. I will say that the portions are very generous, and so even one dish is enough for two people. I'm willing to go back again, because maybe it was just off the day that I visited.

The owner, Quinta, explained the dishes, showed us the private dining room and even made us a dish to sample. Right then and there we decided we wanted a group experience. Because we wanted to try everything, we requested a family-style dinner of jerk chicken, jerk pork, rice bowl (curry rice, black beans, mango salsa), steamed cabbage, fried plantains, rice and peas, fufu and egusi stew, with pineapple and coconut cakes and ice cream for dessert. We were not disappointed! Everything is home made with fresh ingredients and love. A big thank you to Quinta and her daughters for a very special and memorable night. Queens Caribbean Kitchen is primarily take-out but does have a few window seats if you want to eat in. I would urge you to gather your friends and fill up the private dining room and have the same great experience we had. Laughter and food... you can't ask for more.

3.75/5 I have to…read moregive the disclaimer that I am Jamaican so this review is likely more picky. Overall, I will say the service here was really good in a Saturday night but there was not a huge crowd. They made sure we were well taken care of and my friends enjoyed the drinks. As for the overall food it wasn't my mom's kitchen but it was still solid. I do wish there cabbage had some more flavor and that jerk chicken had more of Smokey flavor that you get from true roadside chicken. Overall for Milwaukee I think this place is worth a try to see if it fits your tastebuds.

It was a Friday night but I was the only dine-in customer when I first walked in. Later a few more came in and there was a steady stream of takeout customers. The building is very spacious and has room for plenty during busy periods. The staff was really nice, even when some unrulier customers came in. They checked in on me and brought me a box right away "just in case" when I could tell I would be taking some food home. The portions are huge. I had to try their jerk egg rolls and I wanted curry chicken but they were out of curry so I got jerk chicken instead. The jerk seasoning was really infused into the chicken skin and they brought out more jerk sauce. My meal came with rice and beans and braised cabbage--I almost wanted more of those in proportion to the meat. The egg rolls were similarly large and were accompanied by sweet chili sauce. I only ate one of my two to save room for my entree and took the other one home. One quirk to keep in mind is there's an automatic 18% gratuity for all dine-in orders, even for one person. There were signs everywhere but I still almost forgot when I got the bill. There's a bar and there seems to be entertainment for the bar crowd as well. Would like to try the salmon or the Rasta pasta next.
