After driving by Antigua many times, my husband and I decided to stop for dinner. The menu has lots of options that can satisfy many tastes- those less familiar with Latin food and options that are a bit more adventurous. We opted for the Date Night special which included a choice of drinks, appetizer, two entrees, and dessert. The margaritas were realllllyyyy good - refreshing and not too sour. The Lomo Saltado was SO good I had to make myself stop eating so I'd have leftovers. I'm excited to try more items on the menu. I think we hit the end of their dinner rush, so service was a little slow/unattentive. But other than that we enjoyed our experience.

Have been there a few times and the last time continued to be a pleasant surprise with unique flavors and very good fare. Three diners, three meals. All great. Really enjoyed the paella de mariscos

Cauliflower & Walnut Tacos

Last night at 5:30 we went to have dinner at Antigua. It really was very, very busy! People just kept coming and coming. We are vegetarian, and they did not have a lot of vegetarian choices, but we did find some! Tacos with cauliflower and walnut & vegetarian empanadas. Food was good, and the wait staff was attentive and efficient. I could have done without the super loud Latin music which made it hard to talk. Also didn't need wrestling on the big television screen. But that is just me. It's obviously a very popular place!! And overall it was a nice experience.

I've been guilty of forgetting about Antigua and that would be a shame because the food here is unique and delicious! They serve dishes from Latin America & Spain with a similar wine list to complement your meal. (Or they have tasty cocktails and beer). Meals start with toasts and a garlicky spread - very tasty. We tried the Columbiana and chicken empanadas ($4/ea) and while both were good the Columbiana was the winner. It's packed full of seasoned pork and served with a nice spicy salsa. The Mister had elote soup ($6) which was creamy corn deliciousness topped with crisp tortilla strips. For mains, I do love their Cochinita pork but opted for Camarones Antigua ($26?). If you love the concept of cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped shrimp (and you should), get this! It's 8 enormous shrimp, wrapped in crispy bacon (no flab here) and served a mountain of cilantro rice. The mister had the skirt steak which was tender and full of flavor (and an enormous amount). They do have some nice specials on weeknights including specials on tapas and wine. I greatly enjoy both of those things so look forward to checking that out. Service is friendly, the space is bright and the food quality (and overall vais great. We've been missing out for too long - if you haven't been in a while, or haven't tried Antigua you absolutely should.

The service was fantastic! Very friendly and attentive even though the place was hopping! Great ambiance. The best guacamole in our area! Huge portion, good price. Wine Wednesday is a great deal - $20 all bottles.

Such a cool vibe, amazing food, good service!! Will look forward to coming back! Loved the sun dried tomato guacamole, chicken empanada and (not pictured) we also enjoyed the mole chicken!

Recently tried Antigua for an impromptu date night and was not disappointed! At 7:30pm on a Saturday night, we decided to head out for dinner (without reservations on a Saturday night--not our best laid plan). We hopped on Antigua's online reservation system, which showed them as completely booked. We decided to roll the dice and drop by in the hopes of maybe sitting at the bar. We arrived and were lucky enough to get a table right away! We started things off with cocktails. I ordered their grapefruit margarita (a little watery for my taste (you couldn't really taste the tequila--I described it to my dining companion as the sort of drink that would have been near perfection when I was 25 and revelled in cocktails that didn't actually taste of booze) and my dining companion ordered their platinum margarita which was made with Don Julio silver and was a delight (I may have had a sip or two). For our appetizer we enjoyed their sun dried tomato pumpkin seed guacamole, which was amazing. The sun dried tomatoes added depth of flavor and the pumpkin seeds added just a bit of texture to the lime splashed avocado. Truly, a homerun. For my entree, I opted for the Southwest Chicken Salad with chicken added. I know that sounds redundant but the dish is actually called a southwest chicken salad but it doesn't come with chicken unless you request it (and pay additionally for it). It was fresh and fab with beautiful greens, avocado, queso fresco, tortilla strips, and corn. The dressing was lackluster (tasted bottled, which was odd). So, a bit of a mixed back with that one. The service was lovely and attentive. All and all--I'd definitely come back. And, order their sun dried tomato pumpkin seed guacamole each and every time. Get to it!

Caldito Xochitl

We absolutely love this place. The food was spectacular. We got a pineapple mojito and peach blueberry sangria mocktail the were very refreshing. The Caldito soup and guacamole is some of the best we have had. I also love the salad with chimichuri dressing. Also all of the empanadas are fantastic.

Wow wow wow ! This is the second time I come here and the food is as good as the first time. The first time I came here was to celebrate Mother's Day with my mom and the second time was to bring a friend over. We orders the Colombian and chicken empanadas and they were crazy flavorful! The guacamole was also super delicious and creamy. This is the second time I order the Chile en nogada and it doesn't disappoint! Everything about it tastes good together. I was also able to try the churrasco and wow the quality of meat is perfect. For drink I enjoyed the guava margarita. This place was truly an awesome experience so to our server Luca/ Lucas I forgot of there was an s BUT wow the music in hear was amazing as it was a playlist he's made. It truly made the experience here really good! Can't wait to come here again and bring even more people. Thank you for the service, great food, and great energy!

Camarones/bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp

Wow! I have nothing critical to say about Antigua. We found it from the citytin and will definitely return. It started great with the empanadas. The colombiana was my favorite, but would order any of them again! The sweet plantains were very unique vs what you would get elsewhere. They come with minced garlic which provides a really interesting sweet/savory experience. We all got different entrees for dinner but many people had small bites from others plates or shared their opinion. They are as follows: - Enchiladas in yellow pepper sauce: The enchilada sauce does pack some heat, but it is more of a gradual build vs instant fire. - The Cochinita pibil is outstanding - build your own taco style - The paella could easily serve 4 people if you also get a few apps. The best paella in the city if you're looking for a wanderlust fix - camarones - The bacon wrapped/stuffed shrimp were really good. Very meaty shrimp, bacon was a good added crisp - elote soup is similar texture to a butternut squash soup. It's literally like a puréed elote. I really enjoyed it, but others were not a fan

STOP researching this restaurant and debating where to eat Just go to Antigua, now! I wanted to find a pescatarian/vegetarian friendly Latin restaurant and it didn't take much searching before I happened upon Antigua. I called to see if there was a wait, and we were told there wasn't and to come on by. We were immediately seated and I was instantly struck by how well designed, decorated, and comfy the atmosphere was. Simple touches like the wall decor, bookshelves, and fairy lights were appreciated. For drinks, my partner and I ordered the Spanish Sangria pitcher and woowweee I did not expect it to be that big. It clearly has been made fresh for us, being brought to the table with the juice settling at the bottom, and the wine on top. We were given a large stirring spoon and I personally felt like a witch stirring up my brew. The sangria was delicious and we were feeling nicely by the time we got to the bottom of it! For appetizers we got the sun dried tomato guacamole, and the veggie empanadas. Holy crap- both were so good. The tomatoes were a nice touch, something we hadn't tried before. Salad came with my entree, and was perfectly simple. The dressing was a seasoned olive oil base- delectable and I wish I knew the recipe. Lastly, for our entree I chose the Gambas Al Ajillo and my partner got the Carne a la Tampiquena. My dish was delicious, but unfortunately my partner stated the dish was a bit bland and the steak was very dry. Our waitress was named Ashley and she was so patient, kind, and accommodating. She never hesitated to answer our questions and was very attentive. Truly, every single aspect of our dining experience exceeded our expectations. Besides, the steak, everything was perfect. We certainly will be going back and I suggest you do the same!

Great decor and service . House margaritas are weak and average. Empanadas are too small and they false advertised on Fox 6 how large they are during morning news show expose. Foods average at best and way overpriced. Go one mile east and get better authentic Latin food.

Cochinachos

Eight years since my last update? Well, you can tell from my posted photos that I've continued to dine there or order from there since 2012, and the fact that I am writing this update means they are still in business, which is a testament to the quality that Antigua Latin Inspired Kitchen provides their customers. Over the years, I've worked my way through, nearly, their entire menu. The Cochinita Pibil (their Yucatan style braised pulled pork) and Paella Valenciana are my favorite entrees, and their empanadas and guacamole are my favorite appetizers, but I've thoroughly enjoyed every item and special I've had there. Most recently, I ordered their Thursday night special, which is 4 tapas for $25. I opted for the Cochinachos (the Cochinita Pibil over nacho chips with garnish), Platanos Cubanos (fried plantains), Chipotle Chicken Quesadillas, and Empanada Sample (one of each of the empanada options on their menu). It was a lot of food, so I had plenty of leftovers, and every bite was as delicious a any other bite I've had there. So, if you want a menu items that you won't find anywhere else in town, delicious food, and a great value, Antigua needs to be on your short list, if it isn't already. They've been in business over 13 years now, I believe, so if you haven't been, you're either new to town or out of the loop. Now you know.

To expensive, not real cordial, food stinks. Not the Latino food you'd eat anywhere else in Wi. Small portions, border line wine snob staff.

This was the new restaurant of the week that's about 1 year old and replaced the previous Mexican…read morerestaurant that I wasn't fond of and I'm tired of one review and limited pictures of the food so guess what time it is, it's Steve stop by time. Honestly with all the restaurants I go to I don't remember if the interior has changed from the previous restaurant but it's fresh/clean looking with a nice little bar on the side. My service was excellent and I was seated right away with chips, salsa, water and a menu. The chips were warm, thin, fresh, crisp and seasoned nicely with a nice corn taste that was the quintessential corn chips for salsa in my opinion. The salsa was fresh with crisp/chunky vegetables and once again what in my opinion makes for a perfect salsa with a heat not detectable to my pallet but my nose was slightly running which was odd because my mouth was not hot, maybe all the hot and spicy food that I eat all the time has numbed me. I would do a menu item that I never do which was breakfast for lunch that was the chilaquiles plate with steak. It's two eggs cooked hard, thin steak, beans , tortillas sautéed in sauce topped with cilantro, onions and sour cream. The plate looked amazing and a huge portion by the way. The beans were loose with whole beans and topped with shredded cheese. The eggs tasted fresh, cooked over hard. The thin steak had a slight grill flavor. The sautéd tortillas I opted for the red sauce was delicious with the thick red sauce covered in cilantro, onion and sour cream that was delicious and the star of the plate. Overall was it the best Mexican food that I have had, no and the particular plate you order can affect a review in the end but I will say I have a new fondness for Mexican breakfast. Overall my breakfast for lunch was very good even though it wasn't seasoned like the chips but it was a better experience than my review for the last place 12 years ago and I would actually go back to the new restaurant vs the old that was once and done.
