Usually I use Yelp to highly rate businesses I love, so I feel a little bad about posting here, but I do feel like there's some things other consumers should know about Uplift. My major concerns are: we were told today that they don't want to move any electronics. That's not what's represented on the website and not what was communicated to us -- and would presumably be a big problem for any other consumer -- so thought I would mention that as we found it very strange (especially in Seattle, a major major tech hub.) Second major concern: I totally respect a company's right to deny service for any and all reasons -- that part is fine (and indeed what happened to us today -- more on that below.) However, our movers did unfortunately decide to talk smack about us and our home today (in Russian.) I'm not a native nor fluent Russian speaker, but I do happen to watch a lot of major international sporting events, so I can understand conversational Russian (and a few other languages) pretty well. I actually also respect employees' right to talk smack -- on their own time. Keep it to e.g. your truck, alone, together. Talking ill of a customer in front of them is just plain rude, and assuming they can't understand you is unwise (again, especially in the Seattle area, where a lot of people actually are eastern european.) Uplift actually came very highly recommended by several colleagues and, obviously, also Yelp reviews, so we're pretty surprised by our experience. I will say we cannot rate their actual moving ability since we didn't get to move with them. We scheduled a full service move (e.g. entirety of the packing, all of the transport, etc) between our apartment in Cap Hill and new home in Redmond. I stated both in Yelp messages and via email the size of our apartment, the expectation that we needed everything packed (we're both busy professionals and simply don't have time to do it ourselves), etc. I felt I was very up front about our situation. I even offered, multiple times, to provide a video walkthrough of our apartment ahead of time, as several other moving companies request or even require. I did not receive a response to those offers via email which, in hindsight, I probably should've taken as a warning. I did think it was a little bit odd that Uplift had not wanted--nor taken me up on the offer of providing--more information about specific inventory or pictures/video. When the movers arrived for our move today, they took one look at our apartment, laughed (also a professionalism concern, quite frankly; I was walking them through my apartment and pointing out things that didn't need to be moved and, at the end of my monologue, said something like "I'm happy to answer any questions you may have" and was met literally with a laugh and "Questions???" response.) Then our movers informed us that this was a much bigger job than they were expecting. Truthfully, I actually have a lot of sympathy here: I would never want our movers to be caught off guard or feel unprepared like that. However, I am not sure how that happened, since I think I was pretty open and honest via email that we needed everything packed. Perhaps there was a communication breakdown between the office and the moving employees? I am really not sure. The movers then called their manager -- again, fine, totally what I would expect -- and then more or less told us they didn't want the job. Again: I'm actually totally fine with the outcome of 'no.' One other moving company did turn us down because they only wanted a small move/didn't provide packing services. Cool! No problemo. But that's something I would've expected to learn immediately after emailing that we needed full packing -- and that's not when we learned this about Uplift. We learned this about Uplift weeks later, in person, on the scheduled date of our move. Obviously this has caused us huge problems now. I am not really sure what happened here. It seems like our movers did not expect to be packing anything, but again: not sure how that happened, since we did specify that in writing. Our apartment is cluttered -- pots and pans are out of their cabinets so they can be easily packed by room, same for certain other items -- and it does seem like the movers were turned off by the appearance of having a lot of things to pack. Again, totally respect that they wouldn't want that job! But that should've been communicated to us a long, long time ago. One mover did choose to call the clutter "dirty" which I will take issue with, but did not take any review points for, as there is the aforementioned language barrier (perhaps -- giving benefit of the doubt.) We have a cleaning lady who comes routinely: there isn't anything gross in our apartment, save for my cat's litter box, which of course we would never, ever expect them to touch. (I also would've happily moved it out of sight if that was the issue; they didn't say. I can only guess, as that's the only truly "dirty" thing around.) read more

Didn't use Uplift Movers to move, but I will say they are responsible and own up to their actions. I had a pretty decent amount of grass run over by the movers when my neighbors moved in next door and it took a while to get the grass patch due to not being in season, but they took care of it and were very responsive when reached out to regarding handling the issue. read more

We decided to give Uplift a second chance after a not-so-great first experience since their pricing is hard to beat. I'm pleased to say that our second time around was MUCH better! The movers took the time to wrap everything and were much more efficient than last time. Even with small hiccups, the movers were accommodating. read more

Their prices were reasonable and less than the competition. They called me when they were on their way and worked diligently to get my furniture and boxes out of old and into new. I definitely do not recommend this moving company. They arrived an hour later than the scheduled time. Their quote wasn't accurate despite checking with them multiple times. But the worst part was that they sent us a truck that was way smaller than it should have been to fit everything in our house. They knew the square footage of the house, the number of rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms. We eneded up paying $700 to move a third of our stuff. We were told if we wanted them to move the rest of our stuff with them, we had to pay them all over again because somehow we are to blame for them sending the wrong truck size!! All in all, it was a horrible experience and zero accountability on their part for their mistake. Save your money and time and just use another moving company! read more

I moved in the middle of Covid (Nov'20) and the move with Uplift was smooth and easy. Max and Serge were our movers and they did a great job of moving the stuff from our 1 bed apartment (at Level 4) to a 3 bed 2 story house. They brought in good blanket covers for fragile items such as TV and furniture. We didn't observe any kind of damage in the moved stuff. Also, they were punctual (came in 5 min early than their scheduled time) and didn't waste time in moving the stuff. Another thing I liked is they charge a flat 40 Dollar fee for truck and fuel apart from the move which is more standardized than other movers who charge from their location end-to-end. We had an excellent moving experience with Uplift Movers. Radu and his assistant did a great job - they were on time, efficient, and gentle enough with everything. Despite having to move some really heavy/annoying furniture, they were friendly and making jokes the whole time too. So impressed! We moved into a 3 story townhouse and they carried everything up multiple flights of stairs too. Total time was exactly as quoted, which is always a relief! I did a 2 part move in the middle of a pandemic and *drum roll* it was smooth - thanks for uplift! Moved an entire 4 bed home to a 2 bed apartment and a medium sized storage room. As many pointed, Kevin was among the first ones to reply with no hidden fees and a bargain price. He was upfront about the details and provided good responses. Day1: We welcomed Sam and Max albeit an hour-ish late due to overflow at last job - they informed us well before time. But that was probably the only minor hiccup, On arrival - they were high energy, professional and finished in amazing time. I offered them gloves and masks due to us being extra safe around our newborn and they happily obliged. They were soft spoken, and adjusted to last minute inclusions like a TV and a Treadmill. This involved rearrangement inside their truck but they happily made it work. Job took 6 hours. Would call that day 5/5 success. Day2: Radu and Sergei arrived were first job in morning and they arrived on time and were fast to begin packing the rest of the boxes/furniture for the storage room. I would say they were the warmest and kindest movers we have encountered in the last 5 years (i have moved across 3 states). They were super efficient, and disassembled an ikea HEMNES folding bed within few minutes into bare pieces and loaded into the truck (which took me 3 other friends + beer and 2 hours to assemble one night). Job took 3 hours. I would recommend this duo for best service - if you're flexible - ask for them. I will be contacting this company again in a few months when i move to a bigger house. :) read more

I am very cautious about chosing a moving company. I think we all are scared to have everything we own in the hands of strangers. I have to say I am very happy I chose Uplift Movers. The communication with Kevin was good. I needed a crew for 2 days and also to combine 2 households and build furniture. I was able to lay out my plan and he had the people there to execute it. The team I had was lead by Radu. He is a strong leader and held the team to a high standard. The team moved at a fast pace. Anything I wanted wrapped was securely wrapped and protected. Radu and Serge were great, moved everything quickly and were super nice and respectful of all our belongings. The rates were very affordable as well. The only thing is we were scheduled for a 2pm move and they couldn't make it until past 4:30pm because their previous move took longer than expected. They gave me a heads up and kept in good communication. It seems kind of difficult to predict how long a move will take so I hate to fault them for being late but it was by quite a bit. Still I'd call them again if I needed help moving. Addendum: Kevin reached out and said usually they provide a discount if they're that late so refunded us some money. Two weeks ago, Uplift Movers helped my move my house. I really enjoy their work so I took several pictures with the permission of Radu. I really appreciate Radu's work because of the follow reasons. 1. They took care my furniture very carefully. I took two pictures when they wrap my mattress. I didn't even ask them to wrap them. 2. They are quite efficient. Less than two hours, almost without stop, they moved all my stuff without broken anything. 3. They are strong enough to lift my king mattress from upstairs. 4. Radu gave me great suggestion on how to keep it dry in my storage. 5. They put all stuff organized in their truck. I couldn't do better than them. They are super professional. I needed to move apartments from one end of Capitol Hill to another. Complicating the issue was that I don't have a car, I have furniture and a TV and a mirror without a box. In addition to that, I ran out of boxes half way through packing and couldn't get anymore in time because of the current situation. Also, I started packing the night before, because... why not? Uplift Movers made the whole process so easy for me. Kevin was very responsive and had provided me a quote with clearly defined prices within minutes of contacting them. On the day of the move, they were on time, had additional boxes available and carried out the move very efficiently. They safely packed and moved the large items with no issues, including my TV and mirror. They also took care of the various loose items I had laying around that I had not packed since I started packing the night before. They disassembled my bed and put it back together and arranged everything the way that I wanted it after arrival. I booked an appointment for Saturday a couple weeks ago, and 2.5 hours before arrival time I got a text alerting me that they had finished their previous job early and were on their way to me. I'm moving without my own car and had made arrangements with a friend to help cart some little stuff + pets to the new place between times for junk haulers and movers. Fortunately they were really understanding and let me leave my keys with them while they moved me out, and met me at the new place. It took about 1.5 hours for them to get to the new place (including time to break down my bedframe), and about another 30 minutes before everything was moved in + my bedframe was put back together. All in all it took these two about 2 hours to move me, which was amazing since last time it took about 6 hours with three guys! Since they were finished before the 3 hour mark, my price was the original estimate - and the 5% discount for cash is great! I have no intention of moving anytime soon, but next time I do I'll definitely use these guys! read more

They were available on the day I needed. They did call a couple of days ahead of time and asked to change the time, but it worked out ok for me. I got the impression the was a legitimate issue and that these sorts of changes aren't common. They arrived on time, got right to work immediately and moved my stuff safely. My only complaint isn't about them at all. They have a three hour minimum charge and it took them about an hour and a quarter to do the job. I knew about the minimum at the start and I knew it wouldn't take anywhere near three hours. It was worth it though, I wasn't worried at all about my belongings and it was done quickly. read more

Super accommodating. Great work, great price. We had Radu and his partner and they moved pretty swiftly and carefully. My first time with movers and it was amazing how they just worked their way through. We had a slight miscommunication confusion because I struggled with the form but they were super understanding and helped us work through it and we got everything moved. Additionally they even came early since our appointment was for 2 but they came at 12:30 which helped get us a head start on everything. Also in usual Seattle fashion, it started pouring halfway through and they were still champs. They only needed to disassemble the bed and everything else was just carried out through the door. Also they handles corners so well. My apartment was basically a uturn of a setup and they did so well. They are also pretty good about trying to keep clean and wipe their feet. Update: 2.5 years after my last move, today it was time for me to use Uplift again. Just like the last time, scheduling was a breeze. I reached out about 2 weeks ahead of my move date. Kevin is super responsive: within 15 minutes of my initial inquiry, Kevin emailed me with a quote and breakdown of company policies, rates, etc. Once I answered that I wanted to book them, he confirmed the move within 5 minutes. The movers contacted me about 45 minutes ahead of their arrival to give me their ETA -- I think this is SO helpful because there are always those tasks you save until right before they get there! The two movers who helped me out today were awesome. They were friendly, professional, and SO efficient. End to end, I think we were all done in about two and a half hours. I have been communicating with Kevin, who has been super helpful and flexible with our crazy moving dates constantly changing. The guys called in advanced to let us know they were running behind but came exactly at the time they promised to arrive by. When they arrived they asked for a walkthrough and scanned the move to come up with a strategy. They moved a decent amount of stuff without using any dollies (nuts!) within only 4.5 hours. These guys were extremely energetic and were a pleasure to work with. They were super careful with all of our expensive furniture and beloved plants. They wore masks for the most part. It was difficult to keep them on the whole time while moving as it get difficult to breathe. This is understandable, but they still kept their distance. We highly recommend these guys. Super quick, super efficient, and by far the most honest moving company we have had. No hidden fees and even gave a breakdown of the total cost. We gave them a generous tip to split between 3 guys because they more than deserved it. :) We can tell these guys take pride in what they do and they have fun doing it! read more

These guys were pretty good! We received a quote via Yelp quite promptly, as well as being able to fit us into their schedule quite quickly too. They treated each of our items with care and respect(the wrapped all wood furniture whether it was in good condition or not!) They took minimal breaks, and worked all day. My one, and only complaint is that upon arrival at our new house, instead of asking where we wanted items (basement or main floor) they were all placed in the basement. Which now, means that we have to take those items from the basement and bring them up to the second floor (now that it's finished) vs. only needing to bring them up 1 flight of stairs. Additionally, because they didn't ask where we wanted items, locating things has been very difficult. *I'm sure our situation was a bit unique, but I do believe it could have been handled a bit better* Edit: I placed the above review & promptly received a call from Kevin, the owner. He wanted to remedy my only complaint. He and another employee came to my house, likely after a day of working, to move a handful of (heavy) items up two flights of stairs for me. I didn't place the above review in order to receive any additional service. Thank you yelpers! Booked them based on reviews and their great $90/hour rate for 2 men and a truck. They moved our 3 bed/3 bath house in 6 hours which included disassembling a large Ikea 5 x 5 bookshelf, 2 beds and re-assembling one of the beds at the new house. They are a no brainer. Just book it. The only thing I would suggest is something in writing prior to the move explaining the details of the transaction, but there were no problems and I got an invoice at the end.
