I had the most amazing experience with Jonathan and Tiara. I'm a new first time puppy mom to a Yorkie and wanted to make sure I had everything to welcome home Benji. Jonathan and Tiara was so amazing at recommendations based on breed and age and set me up with rewards. I recently went to this Petco after discovering that my dog had fleas! Eeeek! I was so anxious about what to do and how much it would cost. I was going to take him to the vet but I thought I'd try Petco first. LeChaun helped get him in a bath, and find the shampoo I needed. She gave great advice about how to wash and what to do when we got home. Then I bought frontline from her and put it on him when we got home. She also told me the fleas in the house would find him and die from the frontline treatment. 24 hours later I have a flee free dog! LeChaun was amazing and I LOVE this Petco location! read more

I come here to wash my dog. There are usually two ladies there when I go, and they are super nice. The wash stations could be cleaner, though. There are usually big clumps of dog hair around the drain. Also, it would be nice to be able to regulate the temperature of the water. I understand that they do not want people to be able to make it hotter than a certain degree (and they shouldn't), but it would be nice to be able to make the water a bit cooler. If you are looking to purchase supplies, be aware that this is a small location, and therefore has a limited supply. Don't come here expecting it to be a full-on Petco. That's not what it is designed to be. Think of it as what convenience stores are to grocery stores: Good for a carton of milk, but don't expect a produce aisle and a selection of steaks. read more

Carsia Ihands-down the best dog trainer ever! We adopted our dog a couple months ago and have been working with her ever since. We have made so much progress as our dog adjusted to her new life in our home and have Carsia to thank. She is kind, empathetic, and full of good advice! During class so many of her former clients and dogs would come by so excited to see her and I can see why! She is very flexible with our schedule as we had to spay our dog during the middle of the course. She is always so patient and we loved working with her. I went to this location to give my dog a self service bath after a very long day outside. It was my first time giving him a bathe myself so there was a lot of chaos. The two employees Darnell and Crista? (I don't remember how to spell their names sorry!). The two were sooooooooo helpful with my dog Zulu. From helping me find a leash that made walking a lottttttt easier to helping me catch Zulu after escaping the blow drier lol. They were so amazing! read more

I've been a few times with my new pup and the staff are super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They helped us find good, healthy food for our dog and lots of toys and snacks, and when you go for the first or second time you get a lot of coupons and deals (we got a free bag of food for spending $20, which is awesome.) Prices are reasonable too. Plus you can bring your pets, and they all seem to love it. I'm sold on this spot. read more

This is the WORST petco location. We try to come here twice a month for either the self bathing station or food and there is always a problem. For example, we came by today (and called in advance and couldn't get a customer service rep on the line) just to find out they are "temporarily closed." Last time they had closed their bath stations because they couldn't seem to get the water to be a normal temperature. Avoid this petco if you can! read more

The staff at this location were very nice but it didn't meet my needs. I brought my dog in to use the self-wash station. Unfortunately, they didn't have a working dryer and they didn't mention that until after I'd already shampooed her. Putting a wet dog in the car isn't my idea of a good idea not to mention the curly hair I'll have to brush out after it dries. Both the dog and I give that a thumbs down! read more

Petco is your basic pet store. They have everything a dog owner needs. The staff is ALWAYS super friendly I love my experience here and ive been coming here often with the last month as I live in the same building the store is in. My only complaint is that some of their toys are extremely fragile and shouldn't be given to dogs. Out of 5 toys I got from them three had very fragile parts that were bitten off easily and swallowed. Hope they work on that ! read more

I had a very good experience here and the workers were helpful and loved my pup. They helped me find exactly what I needed, or close to it. They didn't have some food items that I normally buy which is the negative but they were able to find some pretty good replacements. They have a scale there for your dog. It's fun. read more

Employees will make up reasons why the dog wash station is unavailable. I called prior to coming, and confirmed the store was open until 7, and the wash was open until 6. I arrived at 5:30, both wash stations were empty, and I was told they already cleaned them for night, and were closed. On top of that, when they are open. they are using covid as an excuse to not provide towels to dry dogs - IN THE WINTER! Gyms and hair salons safely provide towels, but not this Petco! read more

What stands out most are the people! They are very knowledgeable, and are listeners rather than sales(wo)men. Very friendly and engaging without being intrusive. All the ones I've talked to are also dog owners, so it's easy to talk to them about any concerns you might have, and chat about what has or hasn't worked out for them and their dogs, or what they've heard from other dog owners. Some of the prices for the products I've looked at seem a bit steep, but to be fair, I haven't tried comparing against other retailers - things like certain beds, travel bags, and fancier bowls. If I could, I'd give this placed 4.5 stars - the only thing keeping them from a 5 is the several occasions I've gone in for something that should have been well stocked for the season - i.e. portable water bowls for the summertime, outdoor socks to protect from winter time salts. I'm pretty sure my dog likes the place too - his creepy smile tells me so. read more

Love the staff here! Me and my dog are regulars for everything from baths to treats to classes. A special shout out to Carsia, one of the dog trainers, who is an absolute dog whisperer! She is super patient and very thoughtful in her approach to training. My rescue dog is very shy and skittish, and she would take her time to help him feel comfortable. She also taught us practical commands and skills that have really boosted my pup's confidence and improved his behavior. Also love that there is flexibility in re/scheduling classes for those of us who travel a lot or work long hours. The rest of the staff are always super friendly and helpful. It is a store in the middle of the city so it carries a large selection but obviously not everything under the sun. The bath area is always clean and I rarely have to wait. I did run into a time when their dryer broke and they didn't have any towels but, hey, these things happen and it was fixed the next time I went in. Also, $10 for a bath is a steal compared to other places in the DMV area. If you want to spoil your dog, they always have yummy looking treats at this store. They also have adorable pet accessories (clothing and costumes) and toys. read more

Very expensive. Terrible selection. The "waterbowl" provided for visiting dogs was a disposable plastic cereal bowl... and it was empty. Worse still: In May, in DC, this store doesn't have any portable water dispensers for dogs. I expect that kind of oversight from Safeway, not a pet store. The manager suggested coming back in a few weeks. I suggested that I'd use Amazon Prime. I won't likely be back. read more

If you're looking for dog training services, I'd highly recommend going elsewhere. Their training sessions lacks structure, their 'lessons' are insufficient, and the opportunity for feedback is wildly ignored. This location could definitely benefit from more circumstantial understanding regarding their refund policy and more adequately experienced dog trainers. During the second class, my dog was literally attacked during training courses, so scared to the point that she peed and ran under a chair in the corner, for hiding! After almost experiencing a lawsuit from the attacking dog's owner due to Petco's lack of responsibility in the issue and receiving worthless training sessions from Carsia, the dog trainer, I cancelled my remaining sessions and and requested my money back. BEWARE, they will not refund your money after 2 classes (even if they were truly a waste of time and filled with drama), the store manager will lack sympathy, understanding, and pisspoor customer service. You will most definitely have to find additional training for your pet after wasting so much money. Definitely would not recommend, and have advised other dog owners from wasting their time at this location. They are so many better training locations, with comparable prices. read more

Worse phone customer serivce ever ! I called regrading a online order I placed for same day pick up . And the cashier I spoke to her attitude was horrible, when I asked if it's okay that I have someone else pick up the package for me being that online it clearly states to bring your ID to verify , her response was " well I'm not a computer so you'll be good " I simply said " excuse me ? " because I was completely blown away by this answer , she proceeds to repeat what she just said almost like it was okay . When being in customer serivce you have to have customer serivce ! Friendly attitude ... so once she repeated herself I asked her if she was having a bad day because her attitude was bad her answer to that was " yeah I'm having a bad day and your making it worse by asking me these questions " almost like her job wasn't customer serivce . So I asked to speak to a manager and that was just as bad ! When speaking to TONY he acted like it was okay what she said and was bushing me off almost rushing me off the phone ... if that's how you want to run a store then maybe you shouldn't be open .. just a food for thought . Very unpleasant experience with manger. Woman that helped me when I came was very pleasant. I explained my cat had a bad reaction ( itching, crying, rubbing across floor) this resembled an allergic reaction. He has this reaction to the fancy feast beef, but he loves the chicken. The can was the right color but I had gotten chicken and beef. I explained this to the first person and she nice, helpful and showed concern for my cat. I explained and apologized for my mistake in getting the wrong flavor and asked if I could exchange the one I had gotten the week before. I always have used Petco and have had a membership for years. I pleaded to exchange 1 for 1 the chicken and beef for the plain chicken without beef. The person said that would be alright and to go select the correct variety. When I returned to register there was a second person there and she said she would not exchange if I did not have the receipt. I said I had purchased these can at her store and had used my unleashed account. I did not want money, the food is canned not a refrigerator brand or a dry food that might go stale. This person insisted that was the rule. I save receipts for clothes, electronics, and many receipts for taxes but not for cat food. I told her that the attitude she displayed was not the way to conduct business. I usually shop local out of concern for my community. If I must have receipts I can go online, they all keep records of my purchases for decades. Amazon will sell cheaper, deliver to my door and keep records. Neighborhood stores survive because they treat people well. The first woman that helped me was excellent I would shop at her store forever, the second woman I would not buy water in the desert from her. I gave her my name; she said she didn't care. I informed her I would be complaining about service and she curtly informed me she was the manager so my concerns didn't matter. Pet stores are the most caring places in commerce. People invited you and your pet in to be social and conduct business. We will not be returning to Petco again. I have had multiple pets for over 40 years. We have purchased dry cat food, wet cat food and litter for two or more cats for the 30 years since we moved into the city and had give up our dogs for cats. This is a lot of business lost for a receipt. Online from now on. Not online Petco either. You are welcome to manage a store without business! read more

There is a very loud, mean, tall woman that works at this location. She has glasses and dreadlocks. Every time I'm there, she is always going off on a prejudice rant about white customers, how they're dressed, and how she hates her job and the dogs. She either thinks she's talking low or just flat out does not care who hears her. She is highly unprofessional and talks down on her coworkers in front of customers as well--insinuating that they're stupid, slow, or lack education. It is embarrassing to watch and I'm sure uncomfortable for the other employees as well. How she still has a job there I have NO clue. The store manager has been around when she behaves in these ways but has done nothing. Unfortunately, this is the closest location in my neighborhood, otherwise, I would frequent elsewhere. read more

Buckle up, folks. I have a loooong rave review to write. I normally wouldn't write a review for a routine visit to Unleashed, but I wanted to shout out one particularly wonderful experience made by one particularly wonderful employee, Jen. I came into the store with my Pitty, who began attempting to pee on everything. Even though I tried to apologize, she told me it was totally understandable with all of the smells, and even helped distract my dog and engage him in something other than vacating his bladder on every item in the storm. I came in looking for some booties and some better nail clippers, as my pup's feet were not handling the snow well. She was upfront and honest about what they had in stock. Now my pooch does *not* like having his feet touched, so I figured trying these all on was going to be a nightmare. Jen not only gave me tips for putting them on when he and I are at home, but also helped me engage and manage him as I tried (painstakingly) to put 4 latex-covered socks on my dog's already-sore paws. Ultimately, she and I both decided that what they had in stock (in the way of booties / foot protectors) wouldn't do for my pup in particular and recommended a product that would likely work better. The customer service here is wildly inconsistent and most times frustrating. Today I took my dog for a self wash bath. I'd never been before and another customer had to help me set up the station, the water was too hot but you can't change it, they had no towels (we were told they were in the wash), and the dryer had no nozzle end. Very disappointed in how this unreliable store is being run now. The last few times I've tried to use the dog washing stations, there is always something wrong. I wasted two trips there over the last two days to give my dog a bath. Both registers were down and the store was only taking cash this morning (even after an employee the night before said they'd be back to business next day). Also, a few months ago they didn't have towels for the dog wash for weeks because the dryer was broken. A store should not be this unreliable, especially because it started off strong when it opened! The staff is always nice, everything is always stocked & the area is always clean- my only complaint is the water termperature. It's way too hot and there's no way for the employees to change it. It's not burning my dog, but it's not comfortable and makes me uneasy- I make sure not to keep him directly under the water for more than a minute or so, which makes bath time longer than usual. I'm not a professional groomer, but I have groomed hundreds of dogs for a nonprofit dog rescue over the last few years and I would never bathe a dog in water that hot- not only does it heat their body up more than it needs to be, but it's quite a shock for them when the water stops running and it's easier for them to start feeling cold. The towels aren't that great either, so I rely primarily on the dryer. For $12, it's not bad- but I had higher expectations for Petco. read more

The staff was friendly but their self-service dog wash is not worth the $10. We took one of our dogs today. Instead of shampoo, all that's offered is a bottle of water (in the bottle labeled as conditioner no less) that probably contains a tablespoon of actual shampoo if that. I guess our dog got a good rinse with water, but we won't use them for the self-serve washing stations again..... read more

Super convenient Pet store that the neighborhood desperately needs. It is a lot smaller than your regular Petco, and that is a good thing. They have everything you need, including a dog wash station and it won't take you hours wandering around the store like it does in the big warehouse types. Friendly and fast service. read more
