I wouldn't give a single star!! Bad quality service for a returning customer!! The dress length was uneven and it was very noticeable. I tried to ask for possible solutions to get it fixed but she wasn't willing to offer any solutions for it and mentioned that it wasn't her problem. I was recommended from friar tux to universal tailoring to get my shoulders adjusted and the lady answered with attitude and said it's impossible and that I would have to make those requests before ordering my suit so it's custom. I came here about a year ago to have an elastic waistband added to the skirt. I specifically asked her to make it a little tighter because the elastic would stretch. She did not. So I haven't worn this skirt since I had it altered. This last week I finally put it on. When she placed the elastic band on she made my skirt uneven the skirt is higher in the front that it is in the back. She's done other work for me and it was okay but nowhere near what I would expect from a professional tailor. read more

Needed the legs on three pairs of pants shortened while keeping the original hems. It was $80 for the three which seemed a bit steep, but the work was top notch. I've only recently discovered you can shorten pant legs and keep the original hems. I have some pairs that I can and will bring back from the dead. You do need to remit full payment in cash/check at drop off which was a little inconvenient. I had to make a quick run to the nearby 7-11 to pull cash from the ATM. I went to this shop to alter few dresses. Their prices was higher than other alterations places. But I still wanted to drop it but they want full payments in cash at time of drop off. That means, they don't have the full confidence about their job quality & customer satisfaction. I didn't like this idea of paying someone fully without seeing how the work was done specially. So I took it to next shop in Tyler mall, where I was able to drop the dresses off without any payment & verify everything was perfectly done before I made the payment & saved $23 too. I bought a very nice wedding dress at David's Bridal (not the one in Riverside but another location in another city). I was persuaded to do alterations at David's Bridal. Their alterations took forever like months on end. They will ask you when your wedding date is and tried to make you get your wedding dress altered very close to the wedding date. If you ask for sooner dates, they'll say it's not available or give you a face. Long story short, I picked up my david's bridal wedding dress altered very close to my wedding just a few days. They didn't allow me to try it on for the last pick up. I went home and tried it on. To my dismay, it was horrible looking. The bustle was not symmetric and not short enough for me to bustle it up to dance in it. My fiance told me to come check with this tailor because she knows what she's doing. He had his wedding vest altered here last minute too. It's for another review (she also did a splendid job!) She gave me a discount for being the first time customer and bustled it up nicely. Allowed me to try on last minute and make changes right away. I wish I had known her earlier! She rescued my fiancé's vest and my wedding dress all at the last minute. She did absolutely phenomenal!! I had so many tailors turn me away because they could not figure out how to make my dress fit since it was a unique pattern. She was able to take fabric from the side of the ballgown and create and insert that matched beautifully. You can't even tell this this was added to the dress. After letting the dress out, she then adjusted the bust and sleeves to match my new sizing. I took a very expensive evening gown ($1000) to get it hemmed. When I went to go pick the dress up, I tried it on to make it sure it was the correct length. I nearly started crying because she had shortened the back of the dress way too much. Luckily there was some extra fabric leftover from when she cut the dress so I asked her to fix it with that fabric. Also, the slip was hemmed incorrectly. When I came back the second time, the length on the back of the dress was ok but the slip was still going up. I had to cut the thread holding the slip to the dress in order to help alleviate the problem a little. At that point I had to options, she had ruined the dress. Also, the sequins on the dress kept on falling off all throughout the night because she hadn't reinforced the hem correctly. I will NEVER go back to her again. She charged me $50 and completely ruined my expensive dress. Do NOT go here! She doesn't know what she's doing. read more

Eh, I wasn't too impressed with this place. If I needed something hemmed quickly and cheapy, then sure, I'd probably go here, because they're close by. But when I took in a Jacket/Dress that I LOVE (but was too small), they barely even looked at it before essentially telling me there wasn't anything they could do "without it costing a lot more than it's worth". So I took it else-where. I don't know if I'm allowed to say who, so I won't, but look at my reviews because I left them one too. ;) Anyway, the other place was not only able to take my dress out for me, they did it quickly, for a reasonable price, and with great quality work. I bought a chiffon reception gown from a online purchase in to have hemed up and taken out. I would recommend this place she got my alteration done quickly and effiecently I was turned down at one other tailor saying there was nothing she could do and the second tailor quoted me a outrageous price. of nearly 200 more than the price of the dress. This tailor was able to hem the dress up for $53 and let the corset back out a 1 1/2 for 25. I am very please with the final product. The only reason i didn't give 5 stars was she left one of her sewing needles in the dress and i almost got stuck trying it on unaware that the needle was hidden in the dress back. ALL IN ALL I'M VERY PLEASED WITH MY EXPERIENCE AND WILL RETURN AGAIN FOR ANY OTHER ALTERATION NEEDS. THANK YOU! read more

I've taken jeans, slacks, bridesmaid dresses, casual dresses and just recently a wool coat here to get altered. Prices are the norm. I have never felt disappointed in the altered products as the seaming and work is pure quality. I try the items on in the dressing room and let the owners (husband and/or wife) know what I want done. They also provide their recommendations and input on alterations, which I always appreciate. The final product always looks like an original, but now perfectly fitting to my body. Well, I have mixed emotions about this place. I had 2 blazers shortened on the cuffs. The work was okay, but I am very particular when it comes to detail (especially when they are $300 coats). The four buttons on the sleeve near the cuff had spacing in between each other, not the way the coat or most coats come. This business is operated by a couple and I would like to mention that the husband is very pleasant and friendly, the wife, well I can't say the same... When I went back to get the buttons repositioned the husband was apologetic and took them to work on them. But while I was handing the husband the coats the wife abruptly (very unpleasant & rude) says that this is what they do for everyone and everyone is always okay. Had it not been for the husband being service-oriented and friendly, I would have requested a refund and taken my business elsewhere. It sets a sour feeling when you want something corrected, but talk about insult to injury when you get an attitude in return. I am hoping to get my coats back to expectation. read more
