United Transportation Moving and Storage is a terrible company that does not have any standards, does not care about your property or delivering it on schedule and they don't care how this affects you and your families life. I will outline what happened to me and my family below but hopefully you will learn from my mistake and just pass on them right now. Everyone should be passing on this company right now. United Transportation Moving and Storage picked up my load from Los Angeles the morning of 6/20. That experience in of itself was terrible however, upon completion, the lead manager told me the load would take anywhere from 7-10 business days to deliver to Connecticut. Their contract says up to 21 days. After not hearing anything from United Transportation and with almost 3 weeks having gone by, I called their office on 7/8 to see where my belongings were. Keep in mind my family and kids were living off folding table furniture as we had none of our belongings. After two calls and 3 hours of research they said my furniture was still in Los Angeles and was scheduled to leave in 2-3 days. Then it would be 10 business days from then before I received it. Then, to add insult to injury, the supervisor was on vacation, the manager was also the supervisor, and there was no one I could escalate to for two weeks. They didn't care that they were breaking their own contract, they didn't care that it was a hardship for me and my children they just matter of fact stated that and then practically hung up on me. I don't know how companies like this remain in operation but they are the worst and I will never work with them again. I will be taking further action, legal if necessary, should my things not arrive with the new updated schedule. As an update... My things did arrive after 4+ weeks in transit and the United Transportation team adjusting the delivery dates because the driver was sick -- which I don't fault them for. I will say that the driver and mover who off-loaded my belongings did an amazing job and were great. It is a shame that they are contractors for such a terrible company. I hired a mover who sub-contracted with United Transportation Movers and Storage so I had no choice but to use them. Had I done my research and seen the other terrible reviews I would have immediately cancelled my contract with US Household Movers (the original company I hired). I would not recommend this to my enemy!!! The 5 star reviews are perhaps bogus...Be Aware! They were very sweet in the beginning with the quote that "disappeared" on the email. -Raised price two different times after the pickup was scheduled. -never sent contract -took more than 2 times the amount of time to deliver as promised -rude and disrespectful over the many phone contacts in efforts to resolve the problem -put me on hold more than an hour to speak with my rep, but my friend was able to get right through in 1 minute -Said they were "firing" a staff member for misleading me, but the staff member was still there 30 days later AND THE MOST SURPRISING OF THEM ALL.... -Offered me a minimal discount in exchange for a good review... But sent me a "hush" email to agree with it.... Then called 2-3 times to threaten to increase the price even more after I did not confirm. When tasked to move across the country, they gave another higher price that I simply could not afford then tacked on another $250 to deliver. They promised the delivery would be in 7-14 days then told me to read the fine print of the contract that I never received. The claimed they had 21 business days legally to deliver the package. They were rude and confrontational each of the many times I had to call out of my busy schedule. I would have rather carried the stuff myself on my back... I would rather spend more money initially than to deal with this.... Finally, Ben calls to offer me $150 measly dollars to take my review down. Update: Ben is trying to charge my credit card for the resolution cost. Putting a stop pay on my credit card and disputing any further charges from this company. AWFUL. More than enough reason for you to continue your search for other companies: - Onboarding was great, superior client service available - Truck was a day late picking up - Expenses were $800 more than planned for -- cubic footage and wrapping (after going through the inventory at least 10 times) - Drivers make commission on extra charges upon picking up inventory - Cash/Cashiers check only - Hire people off Craigslist same day - DELIVERY DRIVER ARRIVED ALONE - WE UNLOADED OUR TRUCK - Company said fired delivery driver, but furniture was delivered by the same staff They offered me a resolution for all of these issues IF I posted a positive Yelp review. Well, I did. Now that everything is 'resolved' I have an awful taste in my mouth. This company may be great for California moves, but I wouldn't advise for long distance moves. If you like to nag for things you shouldn't have to nag for, use this company. If you like to be lied to every day, use this company. If you like to unload your own apartment, use this company. Even after 4 months, I'm still livid about how irresponsible, shady and horrendous this company is when I moved. Not sure how typical my experience is, but for long distance moves (LA to Portland), United Transportation is basically the scum of the earth. Throughout the whole process, everything became a bait and switch, costs running over 2x the initial estimate, my possessions being absolutely destroyed or missing, and dealing with extremely late, unresponsive, and dishonest employees and contractors. I will not get into ALL of the abhorrent details of my transactions with this company, but I cannot stress enough how much they will be amazing and caring before you sign a contract, and then completely unresponsive and irresponsible after. They hire shady random contractors in Enterprise vans who have never worked with one another, and can't speak English so you can't communicate with them about what needs to be done. They promise these discounts but don't tell their contractors so when they pick up and deliver your stuff, it's held hostage since they don't communicate with one another about what was agreed upon. The delivery contractors were so rude when they called me at 8pm to schedule the delivery for 7am the next morning. Thanks for the warning,...especially since I had started a new job and couldn't randomly take a day off with no notice. Then they said I had to pay in cash, sorry...don't have thousands in cash and the bank is now CLOSED. They then showed up around 9pm THAT NIGHT after I took off an entire day, broke my beautiful crate and barrel bookcase (they said "whoops accidents happen when they dropped it 5ft from their moving van, I got $4 back for a $800 piece of furniture), and my husband and I did the majority of the moving, since it was so late and we just wanted to get to bed asap. Pretty much the WORST experience imaginable for something that is already so stressful. Pay a little more for peace of mind. Even if the estimate is cheaper than competitors (mine was by a long shot), the final bill ends up being as much or more. Plus you will also pay in added stress and damaged possessions of which you get back literally a few bucks for your trouble (it's based on weight,..they don't weigh anything, guess who gets the shit end of the stick?). read more

My husband and I recently made a move from Richland washington to Central Oregon for his job. All I can say is I should have done my homework better! We called to schedule our move a minimum of 3 weeks prior to our move and paid our deposit to hold the days we requested. We had a very narrow window for our move, we requested it on the 2nd and 3rd of January because the week prior we were going to be on a pre-planned vacation and my husband started work at his new job on the 4th. We didn't hear a single word from them until three days before our move was scheduledand they called us to say that our move would either have to be moved up two days or postponed three days....moving it up didn't work for us because we were still halfway home in the middle of nowhere New Mexico so as much as I argued we had to postpone it. My husband had to leave me that Sunday to start his new job and I was left completing the move all by myself. While at the new house waiting for me he had to sleep on the floor and didnt even have a chair to sit on. I called the customer service number to complain and it got me nowhere, they said they'd take $100 off our bill, which never happened and still pushed our move back one more day. Wednesday came and they were supposed to be there between 12 and 4 and didn't show up until after 8pm! Once they got there the mover told me that the remaining money owed would have to be paid all in cash or with a USPS money order (which was impossible because it was 8pm!) Also the move cost us $500 more than the estimate they originally gave. The guys who did the move were very efficient and got it done quickly but it turns out the main mover was a thief and took three fourths of the tip money I gave for himself instead of splitting it evenly like I asked!!! The following day they delivered it but once again were 4 hours late for the drop off and didn't show up until 9:30pm! Seriously possibly the works experience I have ever had! I wish I could give them 0 stars. This company is filled with a bunch of shady characters with no moral compass. The "sales woman" Barbara called me and said they had an empty truck going to Hawaii and would do the move for half the price if I agreed to pack up my entire house in 2 days, she insisted the even the movers would help me pack. I didn't agree right away,and was called at least 3 more times. Finally I agreed, and didn't sleep for two days getting all my things ready. The driver and movers arrived, and clearly were just sub contracted hires. They first huffed and puffed about having to help me wrap up the big items, then they tried to make me pay extra for some old blankets they used. They ended up using my boxes that I had to go buy and my blankets and towels. Once they got everything packed up, they all of a sudden got a call from the office stating that the boss never agreed to the discount Barbara gave me and they would need to un pack the entire truck. I got on the phone with Roger- their dispatcher and he proceeded to yell at me and tell me I was a fool if I went with any one else, and that he would be firing Barabara for giving me such a price.. After a long back and forth, I was worn down and just agreed to the new pricing. They were also supposed to take my car. What they don't tell you is that that contract is with a sister company, who also subcontracts with 3 other small business. They stole goods out of our car as well. Once we got to Hawaii, my things were supposed to arrive the week I got there. They never did. I proceeded for 2 MONTHS, to call the office every other day or so. I got every story under the sun, I got yelled at by their rude employees, and got lied to several times. Finally 2 months later, I call again, and I am told that my things had been on port for 3 WEEKS!!! 3 WEEKS!!! They did not inform me of this because their subcontractor driver would not deliver or less it was worth his while and he had more deliveries to make. So my stuff was just going to sit their until they were good and ready to deliver! Ridiculous! So of course at this point, I just wanted my stuff. They would not give me the lading number for me to go pick it up myself until I paid them in FULL!! Even though they did not provide the service. Wow first time I've ever hired movers, and I can never go back to moving on my own. They were really good by far the best decision I could've made. Juan and Manual took care of all my furniture and boxes without any damages and I am beyond greatful to them. They not only disassembled and reassembled my bed for me, but they also made sure to wrap everything in blankets and plastic wrap to protect them in the truck. They had all the right equipment and were super efficient, and professionals. My price included loading, driving, AND unloading completely. Delivery was so easy, no damages at all. DON'T use these people for a long-distance move!!! The sales people LIE to you In order to get the sale. Once your stuff is picked up they never call or talk to you again. The dispatcher (mine was Ben) gives you delivery dates that make you smile and then, when your stuff doesn't arrive you have to track him down. When I finally got ahold of him he says my stuff is delayed 4 days (but no call beforehand). When yet another person called me to tell me my stuff is delayed yet again and I tell her all the salesperson's promises her (Jennifer's) response is that Barbara was just the sales person and sales people know nothing about the process. What???!!!??!! That's an acceptable answer? Run. DO NOT give your money or possessions to these people. My family of five's furniture and possessions are hostage! Seriously, do yourself a favor. Let my mistakes save you. Update: Kim emailed me (no phone call) at 9:22pm to delay tomorrow's delivery (3rd delay...onto day 9 of promises!) another day. John has disappeared and cannot be reached. Ben calls John "that guy" and says John lied to me. He isn't reachable. Rad. Can we get together and class action this rinky dink company? Oh, and no, I won't accept their money to take this review down. Final: arrived finally. Hired two local guys over craigslist to unload the truck. No professional movers. Nothing was put together - furniture left in pieces. Everything that was broken and documented was never reimbursed. They only ever offered $300 to take down this review. I had to move from Cypress to Studio City and needed a moving company that offered the full packing at an affordable price. United Transportation was recommended by a friend and said that they were amazing, efficient, and affordable. I was shopping around for other moving companies and United offered the most affordable price. I spoke to Barbara who walked me thru the process. I had to move my 3 bedroom house and some large furniture. She gave me dates on when they would arrive to pack my things and arrive to my new place in two days, which they did! The day to move finally arrived and I got a call an hour ahead to tell me they would be there by 8. By 802 they were on my drive way and started packing all of my things which was great- no haggling just straight to business. They packed all of my belongings and loaded it in the truck after 8 hours. The next day they delivered all of my belongings and unpacked it where I wanted them to. The guys were really great and efficient. They finished unpacking everything and were careful with my belongings. I received from a friend who relocated several years ago with United Transportation contact information for a mover. I had some estate stuff that needed to be handled with care and shipped to my home in Pearland, Texas. I contacted Barbara who helped me send someone over to take a look at the stuff since I didn't now exactly what was being shipped to me from an aunt's estate. She was very helpful and informative. She called after someone took a look at the items and send me a binding quote that they stuck too. They coordinated the pick up with the estate representative and got all of the furniture packaged and shipped to me in a really timely manner. Barbara sent me numerous emails to update me of the status and as they promised the final price stayed final. My items came in great shape and well packed. It meant a great deal for me since it was left for us by family members. I highly recommend United. I dont write reviews, but this one was needed. I would give zero stars if possible. To start, we were quoted 4000 and once the items were loaded we were told 8000. If we said no and unload we would have lost our 2000 dollar deposit.The entire experience with this company has been terrible. Our first date of delivery was December 30th. In the contract they say they can deliver within 21 days of that date for any reason. We lived in an empty house for 18 days till Jan 17th. Communication with office workers was terrible. Asking them questions was terrible, and trying to figure out where our stuff was located or could be delivered seemed like we were bothering them. When we finally got a delivery date and time we were warned by the company to take a picture of the check and send it to the office, and if the driver tried to up charge us or ask for cash call the office. I said "It sounds like youre worried about this guy stealing your money" Silence on the other end. The driver called my wife the day of delivery and said that he wasnt going to come that day and would be there the next day, my wife tried to get him to come that day and explained we had been sleeping on air matresses for a month his reply? "One more night wont kill you". That same night the office called to ask how the delivery went. They had no idea the driver didnt complete it. The communication is so poor. DELIVERY DAY. The first thing you must do is give them a check and sign the paper you later find out that is says you received all your items, how could you know that since everything is on the truck? This is how they get you, and why the things we are missing we will never get. Including all of out wedding photos and photo albums that are unreplacable. They dont care, you signed the paper. WE STILL HAVE 7-10 BOXES MISSING The driver had picked two guys up from home depot and was very rude to them. He also told them to not accept a cash tip and to only let him get the money. (I spoke with the two men after and tipped them individually.) After they had unloaded the items which I helped them do, the driver told me that they normally charge 185 to set up and move the items into the rooms, but he would waive it if I gave him a BIG CASH TIP. I said no way, put the stuff together and leave. Now for the worst parts. Once we had unpacked we noticed we had a box of large paintings that are not ours. I called the office and let them know and sent pictures of the items. WE STILL HAVE THEM! I want to send them to the owner but dont know who. My wife called the office to ask and they said "oh someone did call about missing paintings, but I lost the postit i wrote the customers name on" Sweet. That is the same fate of our missing items. I have called and email the office many times, and have recieved maybe 2-3 calls back in total in the experience. This company was recommended to me by a friend when i needed to move from LA to SD over a weekend. I called them on a Monday and by Friday, they were at my door. I spoke to Barbara who told me the details of my move. She quoted me $4320 to move my three bedroom house and some furniture. I thought it was a little pricey but figured it's because they are expediting the move. Barbara told me they were going to have 3 men move my stuff and would call me on the day when they were coming. When the guys arrived, I asked them to make sure they were careful with the fragile cabinets because they belonged to my mom and they were very expensive. They wrapped all of the glass cabinets with padded blankets, then wrapped it with plastic. I didn't expect them to do this, but they really took care of my things. They even made sure to load them last so they didn't get crushed on the drive to SD. They got to SD on Saturday around 8am and unloaded all of my stuff from the truck to my place. They put all of the things where I asked them to and they were all very nice. They were finished unloading and arranging everything by 230pm that same day. I will say that the care, professionalism, and efficiency that they showed was worth the hefty price. read more

This would be my first time hiring a moving crew for my sister. I was referred to Ana by a coworker. Ana was very personable and helpful with providing rates and answering all my questions. The level of customer service provided was remarkable. The crew: Manuel, Boris, and Juan were on time, in uniform and took care of my sisters belongings. They moved her out of her two bedroom apartment with ease and unpacked her into her new place with no issues. I would highly recommend NOT using this company for a move. Their original price quote was up charged by $1000 when they arrived to pick it up when they know they have you in a spot. The communication was great until they got the first half of payment at pick up. After that trying to get someone to help with where your stuff is and when it will arrive is next to impossible. They will tell you oh the dispatcher will call you or someone will call with an update....not once did anyone ever call us back. After multiple calls and a full month of waiting for our things we were finally connected to and rude and abrupt man with a thick Russian accent you can barley understand. He was very short and not especially helpful. When we were finally contacted by the driver delivering they said they would be here between 12-4pm. Only to call at 5 and say they were 3 hours away still. Then they called a few hours later saying they wouldn't be here until the next morning. They were an hour late even then. So after waiting over a month to get our things we noticed that our things were not treated with any kind of care. Customer service is nonexistent with this company. If you're looking for a smooth and worry free experience this is not the moving company to use. Even worse we noticed that some of our things had been gone through and a few things missing. We got 3 guys and a truck. The mover was really nice and really efficient. The pricing was fair for the help they gave us. The classic dishonest moving company. My wife used this company to move belonging out of her recently deceased father's home. They gave her an estimate (done by cubic feet, which might have even violated Federal law). Once the movers showed up, they loaded her belongings and dramatically inflated the costs. When she questioned the costs, she was told she had to accept them or risk them holding her belongings until she paid. No revised estimate was provided, which is required by Federal law. When she attempted to call the main office listed on her paperwork to resolve the issue, she mysteriously found the number disconnected. It took her over one week of calling different numbers. It was only when she went through her cell phone call log was she able to reach someone. Instead of helping to work out issues, their dispatcher just threatened to auction her belongings instead. They arrived at the new location way after the 21 days they guaranteed. Once we received the shipment, we noticed several boxes had been opened and several items were broken or missing. Customer service has been completely non responsive and dismissive. Hopefully law enforcement will start to crack down on companies like this. Until then, use a legit mover. read more

So here is the final update, i received confirmation around wednesday July 6th that my stuff was in transit and would be receiving it in 5-7 days, to my surprise i get a call saturday from the driver letting me know hes going to be stopping by the following day! It was a pleasant surprise! Not only did i get my stuff sooner than anticipated bt on a Sunday which meant i didnt have to work around my already busy weekly schedule! It jst worked out that way for me bt very happy it did! The guys dropping off were great, there was no BS attempt like others do saying da 18 wheeler cant go into the neighborhood to tack on extra charges or anything else! Guys assembled my bed in the bedroom, brought the boxes all the way in to their specific location and everything else such as a chair, bike, picture frame all arrived in good condition! We almost left a luggage bag inside the truck but after doing a final item count and finding out it was missing the guy went back and found it! So VERY IMPORTANT to do that final item count! With so many pieces changing hands,, and so many moves being done all within the same truck and limited space its very easy for things to get missplaced, so do ur headcount and double check! So after all the horror stories i read about and such a long move i feel very pleased overall with the outcome! read more

The major thing about United Transportation: they do Interstate moves! Its not so easy to find someone reliable, and affordable, to help you move from (for example) NY to LA: and if a Moving Company can do a great job with a cross-country move, it stands to reason, they'll certainly be able to handle local transportation! My clan's involvement in the Real Estate & Concierge/Hospitality industries has forced me to deal with more moving companies than the average person; not to mention having grown up in Los Angeles, where it seems people are constantly coming and going! Yet, when a client of Prince Charming's decided to make the East Coast/West Coast switch-eroo, we suddenly found ourselves at a loss for an appropriate referral: with fairly short notice, most of the companies we contacted were either booked solid, or charged more for the transportation service that it would have cost to just buy everything brand new in California, and skip the pricey relocation altogether! (But how would our sentimental clients be able to find that exact antique lamp, or his favorite painting, if they left their belongings behind in New York?) So when I finally called United Transportation, I honestly feared it might be too good to be true: I was immediately greeted by a cheerful & accommodating Customer Service Rep (Anna), who in a flash gave me the most unexpectedly competitive price-matching! I got off the phone thinking to myself: this company has great Customer Service & prices, no doubt, but time will tell whether they can "talk the talk AND walk the walk" -- on moving day??? Both Prince Charming & his bi-coastal clients were relieved to discover that United Transportation not only delivered (literally), but went above & beyond in their moving service -- even helping the stressed New Yorkers to finish packing, taking extra care with their belongings, strictly observing the planned schedule, all the while maintaining clear communication (checking in over the phone, etc)! This company shows competitive prices for a reason. They have just today told us they won't be to our apartment to move us out of state on Friday! They said it's due to weather but then the agent told us "she would push for them to come by Saturday" As most of you know, when you give your notice to an apartment complex they don't give you any days after to "wait" on your movers. Here it is Wednesday and we have to be out Friday. We are canceling everything with them due to their inability to keep their professional word. We couldn't be more disappointed in them and the service. After I told them we would cancel they put me on hold and came back to say they would be there on Saturday after I had just said that would in no way be possible! Her response was "well what are you going to do with your stuff? Who are you hiring?" Not only have they messed up our entire move, they ask questions which are none of their business. We are going with another company who is much more professional and just told us that this company severely underpriced our move, and also likely found other moves that were more expensive that were a higher priority and that they likely forgot their commitment to us. Thieves, liars, crooks. Started with estimate and method of measuring our cubic feet, by the time the shipment was received cost had doubled. Came 5 days after we scheduled pickup (we were already in Hawaii by then), had to use family member as rep to get loading done. Throughout the entire shipping episode they could not, or would not tell us where our stuff was, kept changing arrival date. Delivered 2 months after picking up. Did not do set up of disassembled furniture (which was in contract), sent one man to unload a truck load, some of the items had to be taken to third floor! We also had half of our tools that we had packed and shipped stolen. The home office connection on weekends was a man who couldn't care less. Other office people could never give straight answers. I recently made a cross-country move from California to Florida. It was a huge undertaking for me as I am a single 50+ year old woman with no family and only a few friends., The decision to find a reputable company to assist me in packing, moving, and unpacking my "life" in as acceptable time frame as possible became my search and discovery work for a few weeks. Some companies would pack, some would unpack, but not any of them would assure me of a definite delivery date. How could I consider moving 3000 miles to a place where I knew no one and had no where to stay until I was sure my things would be with me on a specific date? The hubby and I used their service to move cross country and I'm glad we did. The movers were quick and efficient while picking up our items and dropping them off. There were three guys who did the pick up and two that did the drop off. Since it was raining the day of the drop off, they were very mindful not to soil our carpets. They covered our hallway with blankets and also wore sandals and removed them every time they dropped an item off. Make sure if you use their service to leave a rating or they'll make sure you do... Their prices were fair compared to the other companies we got estimates for. I was looking for affordable and reliable honest people to make this move easy since I have alot of stuff to haul. I called for a quote and spoke with Ben. He asked a couple questions and instantly quoted me the best rate compared to other companies I called. On the day of the move, the guys arrived with a truck and immediately got to work. they were very nice and quick. After a couple hours they were done with moving all my stuff and I was soooo happy to find that all of my belongings were still in perfect condiition and no damages what so ever!!! I cannot believe that I will use these words in the same sentence - that was a phenomenal move...thank you!!! I was referred to United Transportation by a friend on Facebook and from my first phone call, I was treated with professionalism and exceptionally prompt service. I received an email confirming the details of my move within an hour of calling, received a confirmation email 48 hour before the move and got a call from Dustin letting me know when they would arrive...and they did. They took great care with my belonging and did a fantastic job wrapping everything that wasn't in a box. They were also incredibly fast without sacrificing attention to detail...I was our of my old apartment in 2 hours. When my stuff finally arrived everything was still neatly bundled from the pick up and they were just as fast setting up what they disassembled. These guys are true professionals and I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs help moving! They are the best!!! read more

Purchased a motorcycle from Craigslist and got a number from a friend who moved in the past with these guys. I called and spoke to Barbara and she gave me a quote of $1000 with a referral discount. I was unable to be there and relied on them to inspect the bike before loading and be in contact with me. The foreman called me to confirm everything before loading and even texted me some pictures. It was awesome. I think for a bike shipment it was a little but high but they were my eyes and ears and it was worth it. Great company thanks again. read more

It was difficult to find some one that can be trusted and be reliable to help you move furniture. I had bad experience where the movers where not on time and took too long to move certain furniture. But I had a friend refer me to United Transport. I spoke to Kim and receive a quote. Kim was really easy to deal with. Her follow thru was great. These guys are the best they pulled us out of a jam, we called another moving company at first , I don't want to mention their names let's just call them" very hungry pupils " and promptly fired them on the spot.
