On Monday August 22nd I contacted Jamey Thomas at Ag-Pro in Athens GA about a John deere z997r…read moremower he had listed on Facebook marketplace. The one listed had 1379 hours and appeared to be in good condition. He had a video of it running in the parking lot and a few pictures. We negotiated a price and I planned to come down on Friday August 26th. I called him on his cell phone to verify all the information in the listing on Facebook. After speaking he said he would hold the unit for me and wanted me to send him my address so he could write the invoice out and no other salesman would sell the unit. I sent my address and he agreed to hold it. On Thursday August 25th I called once again to confirm the information and that it was still there. I was coming from northeast TN and I had a 5 hour drive ahead of me to go get it. I didn't want to waste my day off and $150+ in fuel if it wasn't there. He told me not to worry it was held for me and i told him approximately what time I would arrive. On Friday August 26th I arrived at the site and he was in the parking lot riding a very rough mower that was clearly not the one he had on Facebook. I introduced myself and asked where the mower was located that I had called about. He said this it, I said it wasn't and he argued that that was the one listed. I showed him the pictures and the video he had listed and it was definitely a different mower. He said oh sorry I guess I make a mistake, this is the one he was talking about. The one he was talking about was very rough, it had mismatched casters in the front, dents, paint missing, the rear engine guard had a hole in it, and it had over 400 more hours on it. He clearly was dishonest about the deal because during one of our conversations I specifically asked about the hours and how likely it would need service to the hydros. He replied in that conversation by telling me that that machine had less than 1400 hours and it should not need any major replacements until at least 4000+ hours. He didn't offer any reimbursement for my time, fuel, food, etc... He only tried to push the rough one on me. I assume he thought if he could get me on the lot I'd just buy the other one after driving that far. He is a dishonest crook, con man and does not deserve his position.

I ended up getting to a point in said project where I needed more serious equipment versus the typical Home Depot-esque line of rental gear. This is where the Talisman Rental guys at the Canton location saved me. I had called ahead to make sure they had what I thought I needed. When I arrived and I discussed what I was actually doing versus just getting a tool and heading on my way, the two fine gentlemen working advised a better solution and explained why I needed such an item. They helped me load the piece of equipment into my piece of a car, and off I went. I spent the entire evening using the tool so that I could return it the next day. Yes, the machine wore me out, but that's the nature of the beast given the project I was attempting to DIY. Lesson learned. I wouldn't hesitate to use these guys again. They are knowledgeable, courteous, and we ended up chatting about things we had in common. Cool.

Backstory: We brought our lawn mower to get fixed and it didn't get fixed. Stuff happens, so we got it fixed again and this time it actually was fixed. Fast forward-- I went in to pick up chainsaw blades my dad dropped off two weeks prior. I show up ask for the blades and they had no recollection or anything on file. We already paid for the blades, so they had them. THEN BOOM OUT OF NO WHERE they're found. Crazy right? What's even crazier is that when we got home they didn't even sharpen the chains. Like I said, complete waste of time and money. If your smart id make the extra long drive to Home Depot than deal with these cus. Not to mention they didn't even try to reason with us. The manager chose to argue rather than work with us, meanwhile stuffing his face with a hot dog and claiming to call the cops for us doing absolutely nothing wrong.
