Wow - I'm blown away by A-Plus Alterations! Ora is awesome. She is someone you can fully trust with your garment's alterations. She worked a miracle for me and tailored my wedding dress to perfection in just 24 hours! My situation was unique - I had a destination wedding, and my marriage certificate didn't translate to the US. So, a couple months after the wedding, we planned a courthouse ceremony to make our wedding official in the US. I had hoped to re-wear my original wedding dress, but after dropping it off at Professional Care Cleaners in Athens, it came back grey!!! (Please, as a heads up - take your dirty wedding dresses to *bridal* dry cleaners only!) By the time I got my original dress back and realized I couldn't re-wear it in it's condition, since it no longer matched my white wedding shoes and veil, I had less than a week until my courthouse wedding! I scrambled and ordered a bunch of white dresses, one of which ended up being the best candidate - but it needed to be hemmed and have straps added. I called 7 or 8 other alterations businesses, and NONE of those said they could do the work in 24 hours. I showed up to Ora's at A-Plus Alterations and truly had an A-Plus experience. She looked at my garment and thoroughly explained about the work she needed to do. I had purchased ribbons and different strap options from Joann's fabrics - and Ora had even better ideas about how to achieve the aesthetic I wanted for the dress. She explained how it might be more work, but would achieve a better result. I really apprecaited hearing her expertise patiently explained to a novice like me, who knows nothing about sewing. Ora saved my wedding, truly! She does great, quality work at an incredible pace. She worked with me to change the garment in the ways that would look the best. She is worth every penny!!! Came to see if my dress could be adjusted, after a short 2 minute no & claiming it would cost more than my dress is worth - she said I owed her $5 for the consultation. I refused to pay for 2 minutes and no actual service & then she goes into a 10 minute tangent about how I have attitude and need to be educated properly for the future. Grabbed my dress and left- very rude lady. Would never come back. read more

Absolutely horrid. I have never before written a negative review. I normally just figure we all have bad days once in awhile. But please, save your clothes and NEVER use this woman for your alterations. She honestly ruined 4 pairs of my husband's suit pants!! She is extremely rude, and beyond incompetent. I wish I had the ability to have someone outside her business at all times warning people to not go inside. She is a disgrace to tailors. I brought a coat to be taken in and was told that it would cost $45-$50. When I came to pick it up the price had gone up to $56. I know that's only a $6 difference but don't tell me a price and then go over just to make a few extra bucks. I am a small business owner and if I tell someone a price, I stick to that price--ESPECIALLY if we're talking 5 and 6 dollars! I've had this kind of thing happen countless times while living in Athens. I don't know if it's because people there are struggling more than in other areas that I have lived or if people see the college kids as easy targets (I was several years out of college by this time but still appeared to be about 20.) Anyways, the fitting was not done properly and I really wish I would have taken it somewhere else. However, the work was completed on time so I give this place 2/5 Stars. read more

Beware! This business owner is rude and has horrible customer service. She fixed a pair of my husband's shorts by replacing the zipper. First time he wore them the zipper broke again. Brought them back to be fixed and the owner says it's not her work. Began to argue with me. She then proceeded to ask for my receipt. I honestly don't keep many receipts, but definitely not items I had in for alterations. Will be glad to find someone who wants the business and provides good customer service. I brought my dress to her for a formal event that was only a few days away; it needed a pretty significant and complex alteration (the size was too small, so I was unable to fully zip the back of my dress). Ms. Ora patiently took my measurements and carefully assessed how she could solve my problem. Today I picked up my dress (I dropped it off Tuesday and picked it up Thursday afternoon). The work she did was fine. After all, I only had the straps of some tank tops taken up to make them shorter for my petite stature. But the price was what got me. I made sure to ask for the pricing ahead, and I was told I needed to pay in full before. It was $20 just to take up the straps on one shirt! read more

I brought my wedding dress in after having it altered 3 times by another seamstress...the hem was a mess! A+ removed the original hem by hand and sewed it on to the new dress "bottom" by hand- it looked incredible!! And it was done under a time crunch!!
