Efficient. I have to say I am very impressed with United Power. This electric only (boo - I wish they did gas too so I could escape Xcel) utility is our utility provider in Northern Commerce City (if you live North of 96th they'll be yours also, south is still Xcel). I have called in several burned out streetlight requests and they have always been addressed within 1-2 days of submission. When a location needs clarification the staff has always been pleasant to deal with. The electric service has been reliable too! (That probably should have came first!). We have some high winds out east here (40-60 MPH) and our lights have never blinked once. Compare that to X-hell where a measly 40 MPH wind out of the mountains caused a lot of blinking in a new area of Broomfield. Overall, hats off to United Power for a job well done! A solid 5 star performance though I wish their outage maps would get a bit more user friendly. Still not enough to knock a star off. And no, I DON'T work for the company. read more

I have been a member of this company for 20 years. For the first time I was one month past due because of all the problems with cost these days. I never received the notice they were gonna shut my power off, they did today and they charged me a $300 deposit. They have raised rates in order to pay off a contract of hundreds of millions of dollars. Their executives are making bank. Them saying they care about their members is a bunch of . They are just as bad as xcel. So, pay your electric bill and go late on your mortgage. Because these guys are blood sucking leeches. read more

Customer service is impossible to get on the phone with and when you do reach someone they still have to transfer you to another person. I was being charged for additional electric services that I was never using and never got my bill resolved. read more

I'll start by saying I'm tired of paying all the money I pay to UP for non-existent service. I was talking to customer service the other day regarding a neighbor's very large oak tree that has obvious partially broken branches hanging from it, right above the electrical box, which happens to be in the corner of my yard. Customer service informs me that they don't do anything with any branches that are not actually hanging on their power lines. Power lines?? I'm sorry but I haven't seen power lines in a very long time. So what do we do here? Do we just wait until all the branches break off and destroy the box? And knock out the power to probably 10 other households that tie into that box? Would United Power come out and do something then? I was told I could take the branches off myself if they're hanging in my yard. Well, I'm about 5 feet tall, and 71 years old so probably not an option. How about we take the proactive approach and take care of the problem before it's a problem?? Just what exactly do they do besides just cash my checks? read more

Completely awful to deal with, avoid them at all costs. You're hardly saving anything, and their customer service is maybe the worst I have ever had, and I have dealt with Comcast for 15 years, so that's really saying something. When I left the state, they kept charging me, even though they refused to shut the power off at my prior home on the date I requested. They said I told them I would make the new owners call them (?). As if I can make the buyers if a property do anything. I also never said that and never would. I requested a disconnection date, they did not honor it, and fought me over it. In the end, I paid, but only because it's too much of a hassle to go to small claims court over $250 regarding a garbage power company across the country. I don't just dislike United Power, I literally hate United Power. read more

Horrible. I hate their billing, because it's confusing. Customer service is real bad. I don't like to say bad things about companies. I would rather give them the chance to fix it before going public, but I really have a difficult time dealing with this organization. read more

Absolutely no compassion, or willingness to work with their customers. I'd lost my job last year and have been working for months just trying to keep the family fed. I got behind on my power bill and set up a payment plan with this company. The day we'd agreed I'd pay came and went. I heard nothing more until they shut off my power a couple of days later. I called and they finally did find the payment agreement... and agreed to turn the power on, but added a $50 reconnect fee! I told them when I made my payment arrangement how hard it would be to come up with agreed upon money... and they think I suddenly have MORE? If you have a choice, choose someone else. Horrible and inefficient. I called to cancel my service when I moved, they didn't update the account and continued to bill me even after I had moved out. I had to call and give them all of the possible telephone numbers that I could have called from. They did their research and confirmed that I had canceled my account, but when I called to pay my final bill they ASSUMED that I moved back in and restored the service in my name and continued to charge me until I recognized their mistake. I spoke with customer service, a supervisor, their supervisor; all with the same illogical rational that I stated I was paying on service and not my final bill, even though I had already canceled my service. What would be the right thing to do? I guess when you have a monopoly on the power in a region, you don't have to do the right thing. I know I will not move into an area they service, and will fight them tooth and nail if they try to expand into an area that I live in. Avoid if you can, keep detailed records if you can't!!!! read more

Unfortunately when it comes to power companies there is not choice, they know they have the upper hand and have a monopoly. United Power is no different, Customer service agents are as cold as they come, receptionist that first answered the phone was very friendly. I get it we were late, power got shut off, I called and paid, as my company grows I know this will be a memory of the past but these first few years are tough, I am not asking for pity, being a business owner is a dream but companies like these don't make it any easier. After I paid bill she snuck in oh and by the way I will be billing you a $700 deposit on your next bill but don't worry its split into two payments. Why cant people just be upfront and honest, I mean I didn't have a choice to begin with, its not going to matter. I will have to pay regardless but to by sly about it and say it as we are departing our phone call. I honestly would not have even been upset, after all, just tell me what its going to take, let me pay what I own, turn my power back on and that's it, no need to add any salt to the wound. By the way my Banks Bill Pay the one I submitted last week to take care of this bill, will be arriving tomorrow for the full amount and of course now that my past due bill is paid, instead of not cashing it they will cash it and apply it as a credit. read more

I have had united power for a year now and I started out liking them then all of sudden they started saying my bank account was incorrect so they started giving me late fees, even though I had three times the amount in my bank account. So I had to have my bank write a letter saying that they did not try to hit my account and if they were to I did have over the amount in my account to pay my bill. They fixed it and apologized for there mistake. NOW it happens again this time with a different bank (I switched three months ago) whose payments for the past three months have been coming out of my with no issues, and then all of the sudden I get another charge. When I call in they tell me they can't do anything, when I ask why they tell me it was entered incorrectly. I then said if it was entered incorrectly how did it come out of the bank correctly the previous three times, and she said sorry there is nothing I can do for you, you are getting an extra 20 dollar charge. We took it off once so we can not do it a second time. I asked to speak with the Supervisor, and was then told the same thing, that their policy wouldn't allow them to return the fee a second time. Even though both times were their fault, and I can prove with bank statements. I then told her that we can either resolve this today or I will be stuck taking it to court, and she followed by hanging up on me. This was the Supervisor I want to repeat, didn't even have the decency to respond to me. As a business owner I find this to be an inappropriate way to run a company, and as for being a homeowner in this location, I am left feeling trapped in a 30 year mortgage with an electrical company that is over taken with greed and unwilling to help its customers. I am left with no other option but to take them to court. read more

United Power is the worst power company out there. There customers service in below substandard, they are rude and do not can at all about your complaints or needs. They do not inform people that they are shutting down the power for upgrades or changes. They will say they called but the truth is they do not and if they did and did not talk to anyone they state that, that is good enough for them that they tried to reach you but sense no one answered then that is not their concern. There is a closer and better power company around us but united has it locked up which is also not right. I have Xcel Energy for my gas and they also do electric but united some how has our electric. Xcel is the best around and they should take over united power and put them out of business. read more

Terrible customer service. Beware if you are a renter! They will make you either provide a hefty deposit, which you will doubtless never see again, or set up an electronic funds transfer for automatic monthly payments-the option I chose. However, upon move-out, if the property owners chooses to not transfer the billing back to their names, you are on the hook for the EFT billing-indefinitley!! I have been trying to remove the billing from my name for a rental I vacated on 5/31/14. Despite being assured on two prior occasions by their inept and rude customer service representatives that the billing would be removed from my name, I received yet another notice of pending withdrawal from my account-for 9/30/14!. When I informed the rep that I would simply close the account, she threatened me with collections! I informed her that I cannot make the property owner change the billing to their name and requested that United Power please transfer it. Again, I was talked over and interrupted by the rep telling me that they couldn't do it, that the property owner must change it. DO NOT AGREE TO AN EFT WITH THIS BLOODSUCKING COMPANY!! read more
