The only reason I came Sunday night was to see our favorite South Florida Entertainer "the extremely talented "Our Lady Averie"! I was greeted warmly by the staff and as a 71 year young window with her service do I was impressed! For all who maybe a bit intimidated I encourage you to definitely come and enjoy the vintage East/West Village/Soho New York vibe! Yes I'm born and raised in Manhattan and Greenwich Village! I loved everything especially the eclectic pieces of furniture etc! It's a comfortable 60's vibe! Of course I ordered the Deviled Eggs! They definitely exceeded my very high expectations! Like nothing I've ever had! Full of flavor and creamy texture and so much more! If nothing else go for the eggs! Next time I will order the Bread Pudding! Now to the entertainment! They were lucky to have one of the best singer/ songwriters in the State! She also performs at Cafe BVR in Lauderdale By The Sea on Saturday nights! She definitely has a following there! Look at the pics. Horrible. It was thrown on a plate. One of the meats was so funky. I order charcuterie everywhere, even Publix. This was insulting to me and my wallet. Well, mix that with a medoicre rock band and I was ready to go. It seems like the quality sipped. I even purchased 2 cocktails. I guess they are saving money by putting in very little liquor. So...what waa a typical 3 to 4 star night, was a 2. I guess if yiu have 4 or 5 bad drinks yiu can skip past it all. But I stopped at work. I wasnt drunk enough to ignore the overall mediocrity. Towards the end..the band Retro Active, old rock, got better they had a rough start then got better by 1.5 hrs in. I just need to lower my expectations in rough times or head to the casino I guess. I love supporting local business, but a $30 waste of my time. Its not the money, it's the sloo, lack of effort on the plate. We had abour 8 meat slices, a few walnuts:n cranberries. Bye Felicia! Im home now...I left at intermission. I guess Im angry because they failed on the basics. I get that businesses are suffering due to their poor voting choices, war, gas, economy. My partner was smart: buy a beer. Something they can't mess up. I even saw folks with cans of miller lol. Im over this dive. I guess everything changes and some places have no capacity to last and age well. I even didn't like their bingo. Overalll, go if you know the band. Get tipsy before you go! We had open table reservations so we were seated right away...the hostess was was very friendly as were our servers...we started with one guy but then we had another lady soon after. We ordered drinks to start...Pinot grigio for me and Corona for the hubby. We looked over the menu a bit and started off with 3 shareables..the eggplant with honey, shisito peppers and octopus gallega...The eggplant with honey was an interesting dish (in a good way) and very tasty...they peppers were good as well but my husband wasn't a fan of the octopus gallega. For the 2nd round, we ordered another round of drinks and then the pan con tumaca, manchego croquettes and octopus in garlic sauce. I loved the toast with tomato "jam" as well as the manchego croquettes...I would re-order both of these. My husband wasn't a fan of the octopus in garlic sauce as he felt it was a bit too salty. He also ordered another dish, the seafood salpicon and this dish he really loved! For dessert we opted for the crema catalana...similar to a creme brulee...it was good...I also had a latte which was a nice accomplishment to the dessert. After dinner we headed to their Hidden Speakeasy (behind the pantro door). In there we each had another drink to end the evening. They do have a food menu in there which was different from the restaurant. It would be fun to just come with a group of friends and chill for a while. All in all, a tasty meal and a fun date night!

The eatery offers lunch specials, but we went specifically for the half price paella (on Tuesdays and Wednesdays). We started with the pulpo ajillo appetizer, which is octopus in a red wine and garlic sauce. It was tender and delicious. For our paella we ordered the mixto version with chicken, shrimp, scallops, mussels, octopus, and squid. The squid melted in your mouth. The scallops were divine (even though they were the small bay scallops). Everything else in the paella was good, but I thought the rice was a bit too moist. Traditional paella should feature rice that is firm and not sticky. I even like the crispy crust that can form at the bottom. This paella did not feature either. We shared a creme brulee for dessert. It had thick caramelized sugar on top but the custard was very milky and not thick and creamy enough. Our meal for 1 appetizer, 1 paella at half price, 1 dessert, tax, a surcharge for using a credit card, and tip was $74. Service was impeccable.

We tried the sangria as well which they had a large container of on the bar. We tried the potatoes, duck breast, shrimp, and Jamon iberico and manchego. I would say those are the most flavorful ones and on our regular rotation. They also have an almond cake we always order that is imported from Spain. Served warm and à la mode, it has a little crusty edge and a very moist, dense crumb. Not too sweet. Sometimes they serve it drizzled with chocolate and I prefer it without.
