I'll give them two stars for being friendly and clean and having a great selection of fun designs. But I had my nails done Saturday- it's Tuesday- gel manicure already chipping. Waste of $70! (Had a subpar pedicure as well.) The whole reason I went there was for some fun art on my nails. Learned quickly there is only one person that does the art. Tried to get them to paint a gold Shamrock on my finger for St Patrick's Day... don't even get me going on trying to explain what a Shamrock is even though I already had 2 clovers on my toes by the same person! I wasn't going to leave a bad review but I can't believe my gel polish is chipping less than 3 days after being done. Super disappointing. read more

I come here every time I'm visiting Orange County because they are the only nail salon I have ever been to that can do the crazy nail designs that they do. I always receive compliments on the argyle designs because they are so cute and unique! Not only do they have a huge variety of designs to choose from, but you can let them know a design you like and ask them if they can change the colors or add something and they will always be happy to do so. I always get a deluxe pedicure and a regular manicure. They always do a really good job, but if you can get the owner (at least I think she's the owner or main manager), she is the best. If they ask you a question about your mani or pedi, always say "no thank you" because they'll try to trick you by asking things like "do you want me to massage you for 10 more minutes?" and of course, the answer is "yes" but everything they ask costs more money, so unless you're willing to pay up, say "no, thank you" for everything! I think this is pretty standard at most nail salons. The ladies are always really nice to us when we're there, so I'm surprised to read some of the other reviews saying the service was bad. We always end up chatting with them throughout the time we're there and it's always pleasant. read more

I came here on recommendation of a nurse friend because her nails are always so cute and designed. However, I've never been so disappointed. I don't know if it was just my nail technician or the shop.. I asked for a pretty simple gel design from where one nail was different and the rest plain with a picture to show her but she just didn't get it. The nail polish was put on so thick and carelessly, with no care given to the actual manicure part of it. Didn't ask if I wanted my nails trimmed, if I wanted them round or square or anything. She barely pushed the cuticles back and that was IT. It was such a rushed job and they weren't even that busy. I got a gel manicure and the cheapest/simplest spa pedicure. She even messed up my toenails putting my flip flops on when I was leaving and wiped off the polish smeared to my toe but didn't fix the actual nail. I'm bad at speaking up unfortunately and I already felt like this lady was annoyed so I stayed silent. Leaving the shop, I literally almost went to my other place I go (where the price is $20 rather than $32 for a gel manicure) just to get them to redo the entire thing, I hated it so much. Not only was it so poorly done and thick, but it started chipping on DAY 3. Are you kidding me. I usually have mine for 3 WEEKS and no problems. Such a bummer and disappointment. Decided to try this place based on Yelp reviews and so glad I did. I had the best pedicure with Cathy from start to finish. For some reason, so many places I go the technicians don't know how to give a proper foot/calf massage and just end of pushing on my bones and hurting me. Sounds awful? Yes it is. I usually don't get more than a basic pedi because of all these bad experiences but this was completely different. I fantastic massage and beautiful nail work. From what I could see all staff is very professional with nail art. Very cute and creative designs and well done. They also seem to do a great job on acrylics. I have been a steady customer at Unique Nails for over a year. I have never been able to figure out the best way to navigate the wait time. I use to make an appointment with a specific person, but found that the wait time (30-45 min) was longer than if I had simply walked it without an appointment. I walked in yesterday and, although they were short staffed, was told they could take me for a pedicure. I ended up waiting over 2 1/2 hours! Had I been told of the long wait time, I would have opted to come back another time. I feel that in the interest of good customer service and customer retention, they should make sure that 1) the customer doesn't feel ignored (which I was for most of the time) and 2) the customer is made aware of the wait time. Unfortunately, I am going to have to find a new nail spa. read more

Not happy at all. We were there yesterday & even tho our appointment was at NOON they were not ready for us. They knew there were 5 girls coming as it was for my moms wedding. That's why we had made an appointment. I didn't sit down to have my nails done until 1:05. My toes turned out okay but my hands are a totally different story. I just had my nails done this morning. I can't believe I did not get her name but the lady did an amazing job. I showed her a picture I got off of Pinterest with ombre and polka dots. She only looked at it twice and recreated it perfectly. Such and amazing job and so talented. I can't stop looking at them. They are perfect Easter nails. My mom is currently immunocompromised and they even took special steps to set aside clean tools just for my mom. Customer service is terrible, they don't clean properly, and are so pushy and rude. They're most certainly talking badly and even laughing about you in front of you. They do nothing to hide it. They are very, very pushy. They are indignant if you don't get designs, or the more expensive services. They didn't clean the pedicure basin before my last appointment. They nick my fingers and have made me bleed several times. Never apologize. They pressured me into getting a leg massage which was ten minutes of her rubbing lotion on my legs and not massaging at all. I've gone three times just because it's so close to my house so I figured I'll just deal with it. I wanted to give them another chance in case it was just a bad day- people have bad days all the time. My last visit was just so bad I won't be going back. read more

OK, I don't know what everyone else is talking about with these $60. I come here regularly (like every 2 weeks) for fun and fancy toes, and this place rocks! They will definitely upcharge you in a sneaky way (they make you think hot towel and callus remover is included, when in fact it is NOT). You basically just have to keep saying "no, no, just a regular pedicure" and then they will be annoying and harass you some more. However, I come out of here with ROCKIN' toes, and they do awesome gel polish too w/fancy designs (never go the fancy nails, but my friend had hers done and looked great to match her toes!). Anyway, let me clarify pricing: $28 gets you a STANDARD pedicure with all 10 toes painted in a fancy design. They charge you another $12 is you want the hot towel wrap, salt scrub, and callus remover. It's another $5 if you want to add "diamonds" (as they call them...lol i call it "toe bling") to your pedi design. So yes, a pedicure can definitely add up, but seriously, if you're sporting flip flops all summer, wtf do you need callus remover for? Your feet are just going to be a nasty mess in a couple days and it's not worth the extra money. As far as the salon goes, it's your typical nail salon. The techs are friendly if you talk to them. I'm a designer, and this place SUCKS as far as ambiance, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars. It's NOT relaxing the slightest bit, but if you want some awesomely done toes or fingers that everyone will compliment you on, this is the place to come, and well worth the $28. Most places would charge an exorbitant amount for this cool of a pedi. read more

I'd had some fun crazy nails designs, but the actual pedicure was never something to write home about (which is why I had never written about them until today). I felt like someone was "Punking" me today with all of the bad customer service that I received. The bottom line is: It's not cheap It's not great The technicians are RUDE They don't do a good job (I actually demanded a redo on the paint job). First off, if you are the kind of person that just wants a regular ole boring pedicure with no designs or flowers, then don't come here and take up a chair in this extremely busy and popular nail salon. Pedicures you can get anywhere, but this is the ONLY shop that you can get truly unique and fun designs for all 10 of your toes. No flower on the big toe here. Try all of your toes in an argyle pattern, or zebra stripes, or a sunset beach scene for your beach trip. There are toes themed to the seasons, and the owner is making new designs every day. The only problem with this place is deciding what design you want! I have been coming to this place exclusively since October of '06. The designs last 6 weeks so I find the price worth it. I too am a real addict, and now my toes feel naked if I were to go anyplace else. Out of towners always ask to go to "that really cool nail place" because there is really no where else you can go to make your toes look fabulous! I agree with previous postings- bring cash if you don't want to pay a credit card or ATM fee (at least bring enough for a tip). Just like any other nail salon, they do try to upsell you. Since I have been coming here for a while, they know what I want and know that I tip well, so I don't get the high pressure sale. read more

Ok so first the good: they really do awesome designs. I get so many compliments on my toes when I get a pedicure here. Literally strangers will chase me down and demand to know where I got my toes done. They can pretty much do any design - they are super creative. Now for the bad: the people who work here are so unpleasant. They try for the upsell over and over again. They will ask you maybe 6 or 7 times if you want a manicure if you're just there for a pedicure, no matter how many times you firmly tell them "no thank you." One time, it got so bad that after I politely told them "no thank you" a dozen times, one of the women took my hand and began cutting my nails anyway. It's fine to try to upsell, but it's really irritating when they won't back off. In addition, they are pretty rough and aggressive with the pedicures. I think the final straw was when they cut my friend and caused her to bleed. When we addressed this with the manager, she responded by loudly blaming my friend, saying she just had toes that bled. Really? Ultimately, most of my friends refuse to come back here with me :) so I only rarely go when I'm desperate for a cute design. read more

for my birthday i originally planned to go to the spa with my closest friends but had to cancel bacause of the weather. my cousin comes here frequently and her nails always look amazing so i decided to try it for myself. i read review before coming about bad service and how busy it is so i didnt set my expectations too high. i went at ten and i thought the service was great and there was no crowd at all just a few other women, you have to call ahead if your party is larger that for so they were ready when nine of us showed up for manicures and pedicures. usuall i cant understand the women or they just ignore me and talk to the co-worker next to her but here we were all able to have conversations with them and it felt as if i had known them forever. all of our nails came out amazing and we all plan on returning soon. the total price for nine manicures pedicures and my mom to get her eyebrows done (which came out really good and she said it was the best they have been done in years) was under $500. i reccomend this place for everybody and plan on many trips back :) read more

This place is PRICEY for a not-so-great pedicure. They try to up sell you everything so be firm if you want them to get the point. If you go there you go ONLY for the neat designs. They have TONS of them but when looking through the books of designs it just looks like the same ones over and over again just in different colors. I got the blue, pink & yellow argyle design. Overall its an OK pedicure, certainly not the best I've ever had and I probably would never go there again if it wasn't for their designs but what am I talking about.... Unique Nails is AMAZING. I am very picky with my nails and they never disappoint. They always listen to the shape I want. I always had issues in the past with my nails breaking but I have never had a broken nail after coming here and I usually wait every 3 weeks to get a fill. They also are amazing artists and can do any design you want. I love their color/glitter/chrome selection, they really have it all. I love it here, I highly recommend.
