I'm new to the area, and I was looking for a place to get a pedicure, and I was extremely impressed with Unique Nails! I was able to set up an appointment online, which is great! The place was busy when I went in, which is always a good sign. My pedicure lasted about 45 minutes (I did the sea salt one), and the technician made sure to scrub off all of the calluses and dead skin. She did a wonderful job painting my toes. I was greeted at the door and my tech was friendly but seemed more interested in another client sitting next to me. She appeared to be a regular. Even though our techs started at the same time, my pedi was completely done before her nails were started. So I guess it was time efficient? Maybe my feet were in better shape? I don't know. Immediately after she finished my nails, my tech left. She eventually started on that same clients manicure and never returned. I was left wondering how long I was supposed to wait before putting my shoes on. I usually do my own nails but I treat myself from time to time. It wasn't much of a treat. I had a difficult time tolerating the chemical smell that permeated the room but perhaps that is to be expected. The pedi was very basic, little and inconsistent amount of time spent on the exfoliation and "massage" from left to right foot but the nails turned out ok. The salon could benefit from daily upkeep after a good cleaning. It doesn't give you a warm fuzzy feeling. Looks a little worn for the wear. I kind of felt like I needed to wash my hands when I got home. I was also under the impression that the price on Yelp was accurate but I paid $7 more than expected for the service. If I had known the price, I would have gone somewhere else. They didn't honor the price I saw. That caused me to drop another star. read more

There is nothing I love more than making an appointment & being seen on time. I was even 10 minutes early & the tech was set up & ready to go. Prices were fair. Not a huge color selection but plenty of variety. No music or television which hindered the ambiance a bit but staff was nice, and many customers talked to one another. I can't even venture a guess how many times in my life I've had a mani/pedi, or in how many countries, as I used to travel for business. I used to go down the street from this place, but that salon seems to be specializing in "unfriendliness" lately and on one recent occasion, they took a walk-in ahead of me, tho I had been sitting waiting. In any case, today was my first visit to Unique, and I loved it. I like that you can make appointments on line and they automatically send you email reminders. They started my appointment exactly on time, and the tech, Victoria, did both the pedi and mani and of all the places I have been, I've never had a tech be so gentle and conscientious about her work. She did an excellent job and I think their prices are more than fair. They did an excellent job on the COVID stuff as well. I'll be a regular from now on. read more

Vivian was great! I walked in with nails that were done, heavily dipped by a girl who is in training (not this location). They were coming off- after 3 weeks which is somewhat normal- but very uncomfortable. She took the time to take off the layers of dip and made my nails look great! Hadn't had my nails done in a while and was trying to find a new place to go. Came across this place on yelp and, based on reviews, decided to give it a try. I was able to make an appointment on their website which was super easy and convenient and they even sent a reminder the day before so I wouldn't forget. The salon is a little out dated but the employees are very nice! Right now the whole strip mall is under construction so getting in and out of there is very difficult! You can get a mani and pedi for $35, pedi for $25 and no chip for $30! I would recommend making an appointment or you might have to wait a long time. read more

I went with a friend based on her recommendation and I was not sorry. We had a small wait (expected). The techs were beyond friendly and kept us laughing throughout the process. The work was superb. Nearly a week later and there are no chips and all 10 nails are still glossy and pretty. I'm very squeamish about the cuticle portion of a manicure but the young man was so good and had such a delicate touch, I didn't even feel it. This is actually called Unique Nails with an S. It's located in a strip mall on the north end of Algonquin Road. It is a corner unit, so you have a view of the drivers stressed out during rush hour while you're sitting in comfy chairs being pampered. This place needs a serious renovation. It's very dingy. HOWEVER, they are all so nice and talkative, which is really rare in a nail salon. I'm Deaf, so I'm not much of a chatter anyway, but they are all very pleasant. I'm really bad with names, so I can't say who I've had. I've had both the pedi and the mani. The pedi is very nice - great massage and they wrap your legs in hot towels. The mani was basic. Nothing special. This place is right on my way home from work and it's never crowded, so sometimes I like to just stop in and kill some time. Would I go out of my way to come here? No. There's better salons closer to my home. But for a pit stop on the way home, this is great and one of the better pedi's I've gotten. Same prices as other comparable nail salons. read more

The staff are friendly and enjoy conversing with you which I have not seen at other nail salons. I am not familiar with their names, but I have had everyone there as a technician and have never had a complaint. I've had my nails done here a couple of times, and they do a really great job! However, the past two times I've tried to get my nails done I've had to wait (which I don't mind) only to have several other people with appointments walk in and get served right away. I don't mind that either. What I do mind is sitting for 45 minutes only to be told "sorry, we have a full afternoon of appointments". Please tell me that when I walk in!! I love it here! It does need some updating, it's nothing that stands out visibly but the staff is wonderful. I've had multiple different techs for both pedicures & no-chip manicures and have never walked away with an issue. I've had two different women do my eyebrows here as well and they do them pretty close to the same so I don't have to request one girl over the other. Always great service and decent prices compared to what's around (a log of "spas" that upcharge for reasons I don't even know). The only reason I did 4 stars instead of 5 is because sometimes they bring their young children to work with them and they are in this closet area OR are around the guests and disruptive. I go there to relax and have my hour with no kids (I have two toddlers), that's the only reason I choose somewhere else over them... I went in for a no chip pedicure before standing up in a wedding, I went to a local nail salon by my house and started with my pedi...the man did such an awful job! I expressed my concern and he said he could not fix it. After shoveling out $55 for horrible work I went down the street to unique nails! I walked in and asked how much they would charge for a "redo" pedicure..they have such great reasonable prices. Helen was soo polite, detailed, and friendly. My niece was getting married and at the last minute I decided to get my nails done. I've been to Unique Nails a few times because it's near my house. I called for an appointment and they said "Come on over". The gal helped me pick a color because I had too many choices, she asked what colors I would be wearing. I told her and said I don't like red. She picked a very nice shade of dark pink. I was out of there in less than 30 minutes with No Chip polish and my nails look great. This isn't the fanciest place but they did a great job in a short amount of time. My kind of place!!! read more

So used to go to unique nails for about 3 years and I stopped going for about 2.. My husband decided at Christmas time to get me a gift card so I can go back... I did yesterday worst most aggravating unprofessional disrespectful experience of my life... 1st of all the nail Tech came out from the back and she stunk like food then expected me to tell her how to do my nails as she's gluing the nail tips on crooked and telling me that I'm wrong . She had no clue what the price was or what she was doing.. Absolutely Ridiculous when you pay such high prices to have your nails done I left there beyond aggravated thank god the owner took over and completed the job by then I was fit to be tied I will never step foot in there again you go to relax and to enjoy yourself and you leave aggravated because you have some Vietnamese woman yelling and arguing with you and you're the one paying I've never had such a terrible experience and my dad owned a Hair Salon for 41 years. I drove past here last night and decided to see if they could fit me in for a walk-in. I am so glad I did! They fit me right in, gave a great pedicure and did a full set for my wedding. The women are all very sweet and I would definitely recommend stopping by. The prices were good and even though I came in an hour before they closed, they took their time and were very thorough.
